Caradoc, wary of the two ghosts near him, responds to Unnvar's question.
"Yes. Would you, in the shoes of the Chelish, let a turncoat captain get off easy with drowning?
I f4cked over the Chelish out of discontent, had my fill of their bureaucracy, uptight officials with a log up their @sses, and lack of appreciation for the men under my command, and by extend navy sailors altogether."
"They wanted to set an example, and a royal navy captain turned pirate against his own government, is a prime fit for a display of trial and every bit of Chelish cruelty they can think of."

Between Setare, Ikit, and the eagle, the last ghost is put out of the fight.
As the last ghostly buccaneer fades from the battlefield, the ghost ship erupts in an eerie display of spectral fire. The entire ship now appears more a spectral vessel itself all along. It too, like the ghosts, fades from the battlefield, albeit differently.
The spectral ship smoothly sinks beneath the water's surface, its light slowly fading as its essence withdraws to the cold wet deeps.
Caradoc sheathes his rapier, and walks to the edge of the ship with a sigh. He responds to nothing for half a minute, the first words he speaks as he slowly turns back towards you..
"They were good men in life. Some from the navy, others joined along the way."
I .. I think you are disgusting person Caradoc!!!
He lights a pipe....
"And for the record, my targets were loaded merchant vessels and slave ships. Two sources of income that we can all agree upon, any major Chelish port can do with less of."
Caradoc walks over to Blackjack, taking from his belt an unusual looking bottle.
"You lot have saved my hide twice now. I may have changed profession, but paying debts if possible is still among my values. One captain to another, take this bottle, and my mantle. Devide as you see fit."
"The bottle magically refills with air, and my mantle allows its wearer to momentarily swim as a manta ray does."

"I've seen much, but this venture since the sinking of my ship, has given food for thought. What are you suggesting, to seek political asylum in Andoran?", he scratches his chin as he puffs on his pipe.
"That...might not be a bad idea. As a captain who knows much of the in and out of Chelish naval procedures, i would have something to offer them."
You ... you have to be incarcerated!
"Yeah, that's what the Chelish said on more than one occasion."
You have killed your whole crew!!
This seems to hit a snare, as a vein on his temple twitches.
"Besmara's mercy, have you been carrying your eyes in your pockets?

This item appears to be a normal glass bottle with a cork. When taken to any airless environment, it retains air within it at all times, continually renewing its contents. This means that a character can draw air out of the bottle to breathe. The bottle can even be shared by multiple characters who pass it around. Breathing out of the bottle is a standard action, but a character so doing can then act for as long as she can hold her breath.

How long has it been since the sea serpent fight? waterbreathing spell should last 6 hours and 40 minutes for the three targets. It seems like we went straight from the fight into the storm and then to fighting ghosts.
"It is true. I am low on magic and blessings from Torag." "I swim like a rock, but I think my waterbreathing spell should still have some time." "I have my magic spear and a scroll I can use to make my skin like stone." "I will strip away my armor. If anyone has any light armor I could borrow I would be grateful."
Tag line is up-to-date with spells used.
"Well, I would need the help of master Ikit for the scroll."

GM Chyro |

Grunyak, the encounter with the sea serpent was the previous day.
At the moment you've only had the storm and the ghosts.

![]() |

Thank you, gm for the clarification. I will adjust my spell usage accordingly. I could then cast water breathing new today on a number of folks and use freedom of movement to continue with full plate armor.

Tag line is up-to-date again.
"I don't like swimming, but with Torag's help, I can be ready in 12 seconds."
He gestures around to his party mates. "I can spread my spell to breath water among 3 others. This will limit us to 5 hours of exploring." "I think that aught to be enough time."

I can take the spell from Grunyak, or I also have a Potion of Water Breathing either way. And then there's the Bottle if we need it.
Unnvar faces contorts into frog like appearance.

And on we go into the sunken wreckage of 'The Infernal Reward'
Through the water’s murk, the charred hulk of the Infernal Reward enters view. Two outer masts stand defiantly against the depth’s pressure while the central mast lies snapped and toppled, resting on the ship’s deck. The sails and rigging sway back and forth in the icy water’s current. A mighty rock formation pierces the proud pirate vessel, splitting the
forecastle askew.
The water's clarity down here is very poor quality, vision is at max 40 feet.
As you descend to the deck level....
---------------------------
Dark water churns around the jagged rocks that ripped the proud vessel in two. The powerful current pulls debris down into the chasm’s depth, and a black, gloomy tear in the ship’s hull dares any to wade into its sightless depths.
Swimming down the stairs, you see a few bloated corpses floating in this corridor. Purple from the exposure in the water.

Unnvar pulls on his Red Mantis Assassin mask and activates it twice.
+5 perception and deathwatch
He then begins to swim toward the place where the ship is split in two, stopping just short of the split and stares down into the depths.
moved myself on the map, if to far let me know, not sure if a perception will help.

Setare swims forward and tries to detect evil around her to see if she senses something.
"It is so dark in here. So ... so many dead!"

![]() |

Grunyak follows the captain as he leads the way through the wreckage.
"How will we know when we see the tablets or whatever it is we are looking for. They could have been dumped overboard and scatters across the sea floor for all we know."
Seeing Setare using her evil detection, "That is smart, Setare. The tablets are evil as we learned during our briefing. Hopefully you can pinpoint possible areas to examine closer."
At least I think we are looking for tablets...

![]() |

I figure we just follow the yellow line in an orderly fashion through the ship and the GM can let us know when it all hit the fan. Either the tablets are here or they aren't, and we're going to find out pretty quickly :p

If you have means to speak unhindered underwater? Otherwise everything is mostly *blub blub bubble* down here.
The group swims through the corridor, opening a couple of doors to see other areas. But like the corridor they entered through, there is more bodies floating about.
Entering the hold itself,
Descending into the hold brings a morbid sight, for many bloated, festered corpses float on one another. Diseased fragments of flesh drift throughout this chamber bringing the putrid taste of death.
An eerie looking shrine is displayed inside.
The shrine erupts from cracks in the floor, piercing myriads of defiled bodies.
The hold is considered difficult terrain, from the many bodies floating about.
Entity stealth at doors opening: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (18) + 24 = 42
Setare scans for evil, and she detects plenty. The shrine gives off a vibe that gives her unwanted goosebumps.
-------------------------------------------
Since its stealth result beats even nat 20 on the party's perceptions, the spook comes as a surprise.
While the pathfinders are entering, after the door had been opened, a dark form emerges from the dim corner of the room, flying past 1 Setare, 2 Unnvar: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Flyby Shadowy touch: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 Str dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 6 Unnvar, make it pay for this.
The creature, a form of darkness, with just 2 orbs of flickering illumination, flies past Unnvar, reaching out into his chest as it passes by. He feels a numbing of his muscles after that touch.
This creature is called, appropriately, a greater shadow. Incorporeal undead, quite malicious in nature.

Blackjack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Grunyak: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Grunyak puzzles over ghe new creature.
"It's a very powerful shadow, one might even call it greater then most shadows."

I hate the idea of a fly by shadow! :-(
kn religion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Setare immediately moves forward and readies to strike the shadow in case it approaches.
“I .. I feel your undeath! You will be destroyed!!“ she says.
Moving exactly 40 ft, swift action crane style.
Ready Action to hit: piranha strike, fighting defensively : 1d20 + 21 - 3 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 21 - 3 - 2 = 35
Adamantine Cestus +1 damage, piranha strike, no precise strike as precision damage not possible vs incorporeal : 1d4 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 6 = 19
AC while fighting defensively vs. shadow that attacks in melee: AC 43, Touch 42, FF 20

GM Chyro |

Slide #4 has the combat map on it. As this is within the center hold, space is limited, leaving Setare able to attack.
Setare, let me know if you would have liked to move to the square marked with the circle, or are fine with your position and a readied attack. It's action will depend on your position.

I stay where I am please.

GM Chyro |

Staying north of Unnvar, a fist ready to swing, Setare sees the shadow come, but it makes a vague arc in its flight pattern towards near the doors on the other side, avoiding coming close to more than one opponent at the time.
Touch vs Unnvar: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29Str dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 5

His strength sapped away, Unnvar studies the strange shadow creature before swimming away for safety out into the corridor passed Grunyak. He activates his boots and then pulls a wand and hoping for a small amount of additional protection.
