"Buggers, we couldn't be that lucky. Now we have to go back in and keep looking." Grunyak curses under his breath. "Well glad we could help you, Abasi. Perhaps you know where other prisoners are in this place? We are kind of in a hurry and want to get our pirate and get out."

GM Chyro |

To the questions of Blackjack and Grunyak, Abasi nods.
"Well, Chelish prison ships come to take away prisoners from time to time. At its very basic, this place holds gathered prisoners of all kinds, either to be taken and tried on the mainland, or to be executed on order of the authorities.", as he rubs his neck.
"I am no sailor, but if you are offering voyage back to the mainland, i will not pass on the offer."

![]() |

Oops was skimming quickly to catch up and missed that they were all unconscious.
Unnvar listens to Abasi's words trying to decide if they are true or not.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
So you got on the wrong side of the Chelish government, is that what your saying? He asks the recently dangling man.

GM Chyro |

Abasi nods.
"Indeed. Cheliax does not look to kind on people breaking out slaves, obviously. Be it physically, or asking the wrong questions.....a thorn in their side is one too many, any day. But i cannot rest if i see that i can free someone from such abominable servitude."
He's idealistic and motivated.

![]() |

"Grab yourself a sword and wait here, we're going to find Caradoc and see who else is trapped here, then we're getting out of this place. There's a bunk on a ship waiting for you, possibly a permanent one if you find you have the taste for it and the crew think you are the right fit"
Happy to push on :)

GM Chyro |

"Heh. I am in no shape for fighting anyway."
His tattered sleeves only partially conceal trained forearms. Beaten, bruised and with old scars.
"Not to upset you, kind sir, unless your ship sets sail for the mainland today, i may not be in time to try prevent an exchange, further north. So perhaps our ways may even part."
In essence, Abasi is a non combatant here.
Leaving Abasi to recover, you further make your way up.
-------------------------------------
At the uppermost level, is a single 15 by 15 feet cell.
A lavish bed is all that furnishes this room, contrasting the lack of decor found elsewhere, though iron bars still adorn the windows and door. An aromatic smell of burning incense fills the air.
On the bed sits a man, early thirties perhaps, smoking a pipe.
Black hair and sharp green eyes. His outfit is that of a seafarer, but one more suitable for someone of some station on a ship.
"Well well. New faces. What're you here for?"

![]() |

"Then our paths diverge may well diverge here Abasi, but take a sword - everyone is a fighter when the chips are down" Blackjack waves at all the dropped weaponry.

"We're not Chels if that is what you are asking. Captain Blackjack. You Caradoc?"

![]() |

Unnvar watches Blackjack's back and grunts as he exchanges words with the captive.
Humph Wearing a disapproving scowl for no good reason.

GM Chyro |

The prisoner looks at Blackjack.
"Ah-ah, 'Captain Caradoc'. But yes, i am he.
What business do you have with me?", he exhales a puff of smoke, watching the people on the other side of the bars with some interest.

![]() |

Not even making eye contact with Caradoc.
Where'd your ship sink?

![]() |

"Inquiring minds want to know." Gru yak adds to Unnvar's statement. "Enough to send us. Now, how do we acquire the key to this posh set up you have here?" Grunyak jams his spear butt into the floor. "Grab your things Captain it is time to leave and we are in a hurry."

Oh you want this open? Unnvar says as Grunyak mentions the key. He quickly pulls out his thieves' tools and goes to work.

"More importantly to get out, a Chelish prison ship is to arrive within the next few days to take me for trial, and i'd rather not be here when that happens."
Unnvar makes quick work of the lock, getting the door to open with a long creaking sound.
Caradoc gets up, picking what few items he was left with.
Once out, he nods in appreciation.
"As for transport, i recall hearing that a supply ship was to arrive today. We'll have to relieve the owner of it, unfortunately for them."

![]() |

"Captain Caradoc it is"
"We already met another prisoner who has headed on his merry way, any more of them in here we need to liberate?"
"We have a ship over the horizon but we need to get to it, and the chance to liberate a vessel from the service of Cheliax is never an unwelcome proposition so we should make the most of the opportunity" Blackjack winks at the fellow.

Setare Katsu wrote:“The.. they were just doing their jo.. job … you didn’t have to hurt them so badly!!“ she says with a quivering voice."And we're just doing ours. They didn't spare us the sharp points of their blades, nor did they surrender when they had the chance. If they did their job better than we did then they'd be stretching all our necks by tea time, right alongside this fellow on the gallows - I only feel bad about the dogs".
She is not amused by the answer.
“I will pro.. protect you with my life Mr. Blackjack but please be more careful. You threw someone off the building?! Why was that necessary? Can you at least check on him on the back of your mighty bird?!“ she asks with a hopeful expression.

Setare is totally nit buying the man.
“Tell us more about what exactly happened to you. What about these arti… artifacts you found??!!“ she asks him with a stern look.

![]() |

Estate’s eyes light up.
“You are a courageous and ki… kind man!!“ she says beaming with appreciation.
She immediately stabilizes the dwarf when he gets up.

GM Chyro |

In response to Setare, Abasi casually, if proud even, mentions attempting to start a protest, lobbying (unsuccessfully both), challenging slavers for slaves' freedom or paying them if he lost.
That, he did successfully.
Caradoc is surprised at the mention of artifacts.
"Hang on, what's this artifact business?"
Sense motive 0: he is completely surprised and oblivious about the topic.
Stabilizing: the dwarf was merely unconscious from the sum of wounds and bruises.
The man who was dropped 70ft, miraculously survived, and was only barely awake. Also too afraid as hell to even try moving as long as he knew you were around.

![]() |

Let's just say you stole some stuff you shouldn't have. Probably why your ship sank in the first place. Nasty business. But cooperate and we'll let you get back to your pirating ways. Unnvar says a look of distain on his face.
Speaking of pirating we best get to commandeering this vessel you spoke of. When's this supply ship arriving?

GM Chyro |

Those with an automatic +14 and above on perception notice a final thing when heading outside.
There is a trio of finely crafted javelins.
Speaking of pirating we best get to commandeering this vessel you spoke of. When's this supply ship arriving?
"Somewhere today."
With the newly released Caradoc in tow, you make your exit.
As if speaking of the devil, a ship has moored at the pier below.
The banner frantically waving in the wind, looks to be of red and black color, as you get to the last stairs. The precise shape on it not yet sharp. Still, you know those colors to be common for the Chelish flags.
4d20 + 17 + 7 + 9 + 9 ⇒ (17, 8, 1, 5) + 17 + 7 + 9 + 9 = 73
Coming down the last stairs, you start hearing conversation, as two sailors walk back up onto the ship, a new number of barrels, sacks, and small crates now standing on the pier.
1: "Can't wait to get back to port. I've got a meeting with the tankards in The Heated Tap."
2: "Phah, you mean you're going to try and hit on that brunette that works there?"
1: "You got me there, haha!"
A female voice shouts orders over the weather.
"The sooner you two are done, the sooner we can set sail again. This is no weather to leisurely stroll around in!"
Cadaroc freezes for a moment, as does the woman's shouting, who spots the group coming down.
Cadaroc: "S@&!e, that's the captain that sank my ship and crew!"

![]() |

"Oh well, we shall see if she's kind enough to furnish us with a new ship. You might want to hide your face for a moment, no point having her see us walking around with you or the jig will be up too quickly"
Hide Caradocs face, we can get as close as we can then rush the ship?

GM Chyro |

Well, with a 34 result on her perception..

Unnvar immediately begins to run toward the ship, as he starts he activates his Boots of Speed to go all the faster.
Unnvar will leap aboard if able
