Eiravor Dorborin |

I don't think Eiravor has any relevant skills, so it would be 1d20 + 1 + 2 right?
If the rest of the group is listening, maybe one of them knows the area better
Is it far?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Eiravor looks at the group intently, to assess what everyone's thinking about this...

GM - Obermind |

Right :)
1d8 ⇒ 1
Eiravor has a pretty good idea of the general area where the girl lives in (after she points it out). Luckily enough you will pass it by on the way to your destination.

Eiravor Dorborin |

Ah as it happens I know that area and we'll pass it on our way.
Come with us, we'll see that you make it safely home!
Again Eiravor looks around the group hoping to see nothing but approval in their eyes :D
Let us be on our way then.
May we know your name dear lady? Eiravor asks with a courtesy bow.
Unless someone objects I'd say let's be on our way.

GM - Obermind |

"Alissa is my name kind sir" - the girl replied with a curtsy.
The group moves along the mostly deserted streets, heading through the more modest part of town - they have the uneasy feeling they are spied at times, and dark alleyways usually hide dark secrets, but they encounter no foul play.
"There is my house" - the girl points out after a few moments. There is light inside, and the figure of a woman appears at the door as the group approaches - she is probably in her late fifties, with greying brown hair caught up under a handkerchief around her head. Her eyes are deepset, as if from lack of sleep, and she wears a plain grey dress with an old but clean apron over it.
"Alissa?!" - she begins rushing out but stops short when she sees the large, armed and armored group - "Is everything... Ok?"
"Yes!" - Alissa replies, dashing to her - "These gentlemen and lady were kind enough to escort me home from Freona's. All is well!" - she seems to be in an exceptional good mood.

Good afternoon mam. Alissa, wish ya well for the future!
And unless something happens I'll stand aside and wait for the group to be ready to leave.
While I wait I'll keep looking around to see if I spot someone following us or spying on us ...

Eiravor Dorborin |

Alright now, be safe Alissa!
Ma'am... he adds with a slight bow to her mom (I guess).
Farewell!
As Eiravor turns to get back to the business at hand, he makes a mental note to stop by again sometime...
He can't shake the feeling there's more to this, but it'll have to wait.

GM - Obermind |

According to the directions you had been provided, it is a 20-minute walk to the abandoned barn on the outskirts of Phlan. Indeed it takes you no longer than that, as the streets are mostly deserted, bare of both civilians and any Black Fist Order patrols.
From a distance, the designated meeting place looks like no more than a simple structure, about 30 feet wide and 80 feet long. Here and there you can see farming implements left behind a long time ago - rusty pitchforks, shovels and all manner of worn out tools, a broken down wagon tilted to its side, and overrun with some sort of bush like vegetation, and overall a large amount of weeds and wild grass dotting the whole area.
From where you stand, the barn's main door appears to be closed, and everything seems otherwise deadly quiet.

Eiravor Dorborin |

I'd say we approach up to... 30m from the front of the building and take a better look.
If things still appear to be quiet and there's no sign of life (leashed horses, light, noise) we look around the perimeter of the building before actually knocking on the front door.

GM - Obermind |

You carefully approach the barn, noticing the main doors are ajar, and there is some light coming from inside.

Armantaro Starbreeze |

In a low voice Armantaro says They are already here. Shall we go around first before going to the door? I don't like that we separate but I can go and check it alone while you wait here... but I think its only worth it if we go chicken and bail out if there are to many bodygards. I say we go in prepared for trouble.

Armantaro Starbreeze |

If there is any trouble you two get the mellee and I'll take care of the range problems.
Armantaro will go right behind them holding his bow and will be always attentive to their surroundings and where they could hide or flee if the exchange goes wrong

GM - Obermind |

So guys - I hear a lot of conversation. Is anyone actually moving toward the barn doors to see what is inside? :P
Kha'lessa, roll d20+Proficiency bonus+Dex (or plus Stealth instead of Dex, if you have it).

![]() |

Saying to group I'll go ahead, I'll look into the barn from outside the door. Ye can come a bit behind me. What do you think?
I intend to go with my shield ready and weapon not drawn and to move clearly showing myself so that none of them get "nervous".
Looking to Eiravor but without saying his name Are you ready, can we move ahead?

Eiravor Dorborin |

Yeah let's go, all three. We should have nothing to fear., Vandelay says puffing his chest confidently.
I'll take the middle and each of you my faithful bodyguards take each side
With this, Vandelay moves inside the barn confidently until we can see what's up in there.

GM - Obermind |

I don't think I have proficiency
Your Proficiency Bonus is +2, and your Dex bonus is +2, so your final result should be 19+2+2 = 23 ;)
As Eiravor, Armantaro and Ragnar move forward inside the barn, they spot a sinewy elf in gray clothes. She smiles at three gruff looking humans standing behind her - “I told you they would come. I knew this package would be much too valuable to pass up"
Then the elf turns back to you - "Now, let’s do this quickly. Here is what you asked for"- she holds a very large hide backpack toward you.
"You throw the payment over to me, and we will leave it right here. We get out of this place, and then you can leave after five minutes have passed. No fuss, no muss"
But then she paused and looked at you three more closely - "Hold on though.... Something is not right here. Are you Raknor?" - she commented, looking Eiravor over with a raised eyebrow - "I was expecting someone... Different"

Eiravor Dorborin |

F#*& what the hell is this one going on about, Eiravor's mind is racing...
He pulls out the gold purse and holds it ostensibly, making the gesture as if to throw it...
Then he aborts the purse throw...
Different how? he asks, with a bewildered look on his face...
I guess I could say the same about you, only I've no idea what you're supposed to look like.
Then he looks at the purse...
Except I don't f@!&in care what you look like as long as you've got the goods. Sooo... do you want this or not?
Show me the goods and we'll do it your way.

Armantaro Starbreeze |

Armantaro is casualy holding his bow and looking all around to see if there is anything threatening from the seller's bodyguards and possible places to have cover. If there is trouble he starts shooting while going for cover (if there is any). Like giving cover to Eiravor and Ragnar.

GM - Obermind |

"No need for that language..." - the elf woman raised her eyebrow - "We are all friends here" - she adds - "I meant to say I was expecting someone less... Attractive" - she winks at Eiravor, looking him up and down, then turning with a flourish.
"Anyway..." - she retrieves a box from the backpack, and opens it - "Here are the 'goods', as you call them"
The interior of the box seems to be all in vellum, and inside rests an item with an oblong shape, much like an abnormally large egg, yet its colors are quite different from anything you have ever seen - a deep dark shade of red, almost black, with slivers of bright orange.
"Satisfied?" - the she-elf smiled again, as the men behind her stared at Armantaro, hands on their scabbarded weapons.

Eiravor Dorborin |

Now that's more like it... says Eiravor with a satisfied grin on his face.
And I do apologize for my previous harshness, I tend to get nervous in this sort of situations.
Now if you wouldn't mind stepping just 10' away from the package, I'll toss the payment over and won't move until you're all well and gone.
And once they do move aside, Eiravor throws them the gold pouch.
Until then he watches them attentively, ready to react to any attempt of betrayal.

GM - Obermind |

With a curtsey, the elvish woman steps away from the package, and deftly catches the pouch Eiravor throws to her - "A pleasure doing business with you" - she bows low, and signals her goons to get going as they all prepare to leave.
@Armantaro: There are three of them + the elf.

Armantaro Starbreeze |

yes the pin is in the bag. I think Eiravor wanted to give it as a token of good will for future business... :)
For me it sounded like a trap since we were hired. Lets get out of here... carefuly - says Eiravor with a grin
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
In case its needed I got passive perception 15

GM - Obermind |

In that case:
The elf takes a few moments to check the payment in the pouch before leaving, then her and the others exit the barn through a back door.

GM - Obermind |

GM - Obermind |

Let's be careful now. This has the stink of a trap all over it...
Any of you skilled with traps?
Perception: 19 = 19 In case its needed I got passive perception 15
I am not following you Armantaro - what are you using your Perception roll for? To check the backpack?

GM - Obermind |

No one has even grabbed the backpack yet as far as I am aware - I assume Eiravor was asking before messing with it.
Usually in PbP we need to be 'flexible' with time - Eiravor stated he would talk after they left. But they had not left yet ;)
So the action is:
- Now they have left;
- Eiravor's question about traps kick in:
Let's be careful now. This has the stink of a trap all over it...
Any of you skilled with traps?
For me it sounded like a trap since we were hired. Lets get out of here... carefuly - says Eiravor with a grin.
Which means you are still inside, you suggested to leave and I assume Eiravor is waiting for someone to answer his question :P
Once, and if you ever get out of this barn alive, then your Perception will come into play.

Eiravor Dorborin |

Yeah, Eiravor is waiting for the group to answer if they are skilled with traps before even moving.
From what I understood, the backpack isn't within reach, and he fears the ground may be booby trapped between us and the pack, and in the packs's vicinity.
If the group has trap spotting skills, Eiravor lets them do their thing, otherwise he wants to do his much less effective thing :D

Kha’lessa |

Kha'lessa tries to understand the movement inside and once she realizes thee group is preparing to leave she comes out of hiding and adresses the hiding orc with a loud voice and a red flame in her hand
Hey orc! You and your two friends look lost, need directions?
intimidation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
She uses prestidigitation to make the light and look more dangerouus. She also readies an eldricht blast if any of the three makes an offensive move

Eiravor Dorborin |

Inside the barn, and since no one has any trap handling skills, Eiravor tries to make do with a Faerie Fire spell, hoping the aura around objects helps spot any hidden surprises...
It's a 20-ft cube, so he casts the spell to encompass the space around the backpack and up to where the group is.
If the backpack is more than 20-ft away, preference goes to backpack area - it's ok if I have to walk a bit outside the spell cube, but the backpack must be inside the cube.

GM - Obermind |

Hey orc! You and your two friends look lost, need directions?
The orc takes a look at Kha'lessa, and dismisses her with a snarl - "Move along wench... This is none of your business"
Eiravor's magical faerie fire envelops the area, but reveals no traps.
You hear voices coming from outside the barn.
1d20 ⇒ 1
1d20 ⇒ 20

Eiravor Dorborin |

Looks safe. I'm probably just being paranoid..., Eiravor says to himself.
's ok Armantaro I'll get it, you and Ragnar just stay alert for any complications.
With this, Eiravor moves to the pack, checks its contents, takes it and makes his way towards the barn's exit.
Of course, that's assuming all goes well :D if his legs explode due to a hidden trap, or he gets viciously attacked in the process, he might have to reconsider...
