He nods in thanks to Atae's healing. "Any more of their friends been around lately we need to get ready for quickly?" Klank asks, all business at this point. He takes out a healing potion and drinks it.

Atae: Meadow clarified the healing issue. Damage is damage unless you are KOed, and then it matters.

"Good news: It's just me down here. The other soldiers ran in, told Tascio here you were coming, and then retreated to tell the other forts of your approach." She laughs. "They love their codes, mumbling something about The bears are coming."

As you untie the bindings, she cranes her neck to the side. "I'm... I'm Sabina. Sabina Malatesta. I feel like my body's on fire. More like my body is on fire's fire. Let me... let me tell you what's up."

"Count Varian Jeggare's methods are too subtle. We need to be bold, loud and direct. But the Count was always willing to stand up for me while he was here."

"So the bad news: they took him away, a few days ago." She takes a deep breath. "Someone named Aydrian Thrune ordered it. Tascio said he thought they were taking him to a place called Delvehaven. Said it was an abandoned Pathfinder lodge."

Fatigue weighs her down. "Seems you go from one dead place to another." Then she passes out.

From where the dragon-dog fell, a copper and gold-scaled kobold gets up. "We did it, yes? The Dragon was triumphant!" Rhaegal raises his arm in victory, but then winces in pain. "Oh! Perhaps may scales need to be tougher next time..."

"Delvehaven? Why would they go there? Did they said what they planned to do with the Count? Perhaps if they fear Bears, we can use that against them." Rhaegal considers how to use this.

Seeing her pass out gets him a bit concerned "She's on fire? Maybe there's poison involved, can any of you help? If she's an ally to the Count then she's an ally likely to us too."

So, getting her out probably would be a good idea.. any thoughts as to how/where before we work on this Delvehaven lead?

While they talk, Rhaegal sets to tending to their (mostly his own) wounds. He casts another spell to heal the entire group too.

GM, Atae healed Sabina (and everyone else) 8 points. This is on top of that. The mundane healing would take 20 minutes.

"We probably want to get out of here quickly. Everyone search fast. Rhaegal, see if you can revive Sabina." Meadow pours a couple of minor healing potions down the woman's throat before searching the two guards for keys to Sabina's chains and any other useful items.

It doesn't take long to find the keys to Sabina's manacles. She's stable and alive but clearly fatigued.

It also doesn't take much more to find a hidden tunnel in the back. Sir Tascio Raetellus had a potion marked "minor healing" that comes in handy to stop Sabina's bleeding.

The tunnel is wide enough to fit everyone, and you are able to quickly move through. The tunnel leads outside the fort.

If the guards saw you, they aren't paying attention to you.

Klank tosses the woman over his right shoulder like a sack of grain, carrying his spiked shield in the other hand "I'll get her out, you all point out the way." Be it a truck load of weapons, shields, and full plate, Klank keeps moving.

Likely only for RP reasons here, but Klank is built for carrying lots of weight and bulk. I don't have the numbers in front of me right now, but its likely he's the best suited for adding in the bulk of another person.

While Sabina's immediate wounds are healed, she is exhausted. A long nap should help her recover.

You decide on two potential places to hide: Greensteeples Manor or Southgate Inn. Both will keep things quiet while you recover.

"Let's get back to the Inn. She was kidnapped from there to start, not a good idea to drag any extra attention back to the Manor." Klank whispers to the group as he gets his bearings and helps the woman along.

It probably would be helpful if we tried to be a bit stealthy, maybe some follow the expert here?

Nan and her assistants almost cleaned up the smashed tables and bat guano when you arrive. "Sorry, we're closed for today, gotta finish repairs for a private lunch- oh, it's you!" Nan waves you in and closes the door. "My regular patrons know to stay away when Chileax enforcers start brawlin'. And you've got a guest with ya- oh, that's her! She was with you-know-who the night they were snatched."

Sabina is plopped onto a bed, and you get an opportunity to clean up and eat some food. "I have a surplus of honey. Merchants shipped too much, but they said I could keep it. I hope you like sweet biscuits and pancakes."

By the early afternoon, Sabina wanders out of her room. "I didn't expect to be sleeping on a bed again. I got lucky." She hops on the barstool and drinks the tallest mug of black coffee she can find. "I never got a chance to thank you. I'm Sabina Malatesta, knight of the Glorious Reclamation." Nan rolls her eyes and makes a shhhhh motion, causing Sabina to laugh. "Oh please. If they were pursuing us they would have caught us already."

"Delvehaven was an old Pathfinder Lodge in the city of Westcrown. I heard the remaining Pathfinders died or were killed- that place is cursed. And then our oh so benevolent queen banished the Society and locked that place shut." She takes another swig and slams the empty mug on the countertop.

"When Jeggare and I were in that rathole, I heard Aydrian Thrune wanted to take him to Delvehaven herself. They thought I was unconscious from their latest... reeducation... so they didn't realize I was listening to them."

"I know some friends in the organization who can pick me up and keep me safe while I recover. Sounds like someone has to help the Count sooner rather than later."

The Pathfinders will return in 3-07: The Locked Lodge!

Meadow ravenously tears into the biscuits and pancakes but stops after a moment. "Oops sorry Silence. Here you go." She reaches into a belt pouch and pulls out a dead mouse that she tosses to her friend. It is quickly devoured whole.

The young half-elf shudders. "Your table manners are atrocious. You really should work on that you know."

She turns to Sabina "You don't have to thank us. We just did what any decent person would have done when they found someone being tortured in a dungeon and rescued you."

Klank helps with taking a long turn at watch over the night, fully expecting to be raided in the night. "We thank you for your information Sabina, I'm Kernal Klank. Let me give you the recognition you deserve for surviving that ordeal." He too quickly invests himself in a tall stack of cakes, honey and a layer of peanut butter, adding in some black coffee for balance in the meal.

"How long of a trip away is this Delvehaven? Are there any basic layout plans so we know at all where we're going?" He asks, starting to think of the list of supplies they'll need for the dangerous mission.

The cleric will consume the honey, but ask for fruit and cheese to supplement not eating pancakes or biscuits. Too many carbs she adds.

The Dragon seems ravenous after his stint as a a dragon-wolf. He eats several pancakes with honey and drinks so much juice, you're not sure where all of it is going. He seems to admire Silence's eating skills, nodding to the bird and muttering, "Mighty Warrior."

"We must still find the Count. If this is how they treated Sabina, who knows what they're subjecting him to."

"Westcrown is only a few days away." Nan tops off Kernel Klank's coffee without a second thought. "If there's anything you want to tell your boss, I know someone who can get the message there in the blink of an eye."

One of the cooks delivers a tray full of roasted apples and pears along with a cheese wedge. The tray gently rests on Atae's table. "Plenty more where that came from." The cook winks at her before returning to the kitchen.

A few days ago...
You traveled to Egorian, the capital city of Cheliax where Pathfinders are outlawed, to find out what has happened to the nation’s secret venture-captain, Varian Jeggare. You investigated Varian’s enormous library for clues about his plans, intrigues, and last-known whereabouts. These investigations took you to an inn just outside Egorian where an ambush awaited you, and then to a supposedly abandoned outpost where a large group of devils, Hellknights, and mercenaries made their headquarters. After sneaking or fighting your way into the fort, you descended into the outpost’s dungeons, faced down a cruel Hellknight torturer, and rescued his prisoner— Sabina Malatesta. Sabina participated the Glorious Reclamation, a recent rebellion against Cheliax’s diabolical government, and is one of Varian’s trusted contacts. With the Reclamation agent rescued, the Society is one step closer to rescuing Jeggare as well.

Yesterday, a few visitors came to the Southgate Inn. Some of them knocked on the door with a distinctive rhythm that breaks Sabina free from her coffee habit. Agents from the Glorious Reclamation arrive to take her to places unknown, to help her recover. "Good luck on your half. Tell the Count I'm sorry it didn't work out."

The other visitor paws at the door and whines a few times: It's Arnisant. The wolfhound enters the inn, accepts pettings from Rhaegal, and retrieves a scroll from... you're not sure.

Valsin's Letter:
Pathfinders,
Your mission is to rescue Venture-Captain Varian Jeggare who has been kidnapped by Aydrian Thrune. The Society has learned Aydrian is keeping Jeggare in Delvehaven, an old Pathfinder lodge abandoned decades ago.

Securing Jeggare alive is of utmost importance. Be careful in how you deal with Aydrian Thrune—House Thrune rules Cheliax, and while they have a history of discarding members who publicly fail, they may just as well decide to punish the Society for acting against one of their own.

You can find a map alongside this letter that details the location of Delvehaven and a safehouse, where you can prepare for the mission.

Kernal stands at the ready when Sabina checks the door, he looks to the visitors and to Sabina before taking a seat by the fireplace. His thoughts wrestling between his work and his love of the forge. After a few moments and the whine of the dog he heads back to the group.

"Stage one complete, stage two on tap." He comments after reading the note. "I hope everyone's down to continue this path, its not one of comfort and safety. I only hope that lectern has what we're going to need to get in and out."

Rhaegal digs his hand into Arnisant's fur and ruffles it. "Good work, bringing this here." He opens the letter and reads it for the group, while giving Arnisant some pieces of cheese. The Dragon goes to check the lectern for treats from Valsin.

Atae emerges that morning from the cook's room. She comes down bathed and ready for the day. He brings her out a fruit plate with the fruit arranged in a heart. She is quietly eating as the newcomers arrive.

Nan sighs as Atae munches on her platter. "Well, glad ya slept well. I know the cook is gonna snooze all night now." She yells at the sous chef, and he smiles as puts on the chef's hat.

Arnisant whines softly as a wagon pulls up to Southgate Inn. "Next stop, Westcrown." The driver tips her hat. "I come from the Greensteples Manor. I'm a small way of saying thanks."

You ride through the checkpoint leaving Sorrowgate, as a long guard is too busy inspecting 5 other carriages to pay attention to you.

Begin 3-07: The Locked Lodge

The city of Westcrown is located on the Southern coast of Cheliax where the Adivian River flows into the Inner Sea. Throughout the decades, parts of the former capital have fallen in disrepair as Egorian cemented its place as the new center of Cheliax.

The city is filled with crime and corruption, and House Thrune’s regime keeps a close eye on the city, ready to stamp out even a whiff of rebellion. The recent uprising lead by the Glorious Reclamation certainly didn’t help to lessen the oppressive grip of the infernal regimen.

Despite all that, Westcrown is still a vital location for trade due to the city’s advantageous location since the goods going to Egorian flow up the Adivian River.

The wagon rider moves past the gate and drops you off in the town market. She smiles before turning the wagon around. "The open road awaits. Best be careful now."

Now is the time to purchase supplies and gather information. You can make a Diplomacy roll to learn about Westcrown and Delvehaven. As these are secret rolls, you can either post your Diplomacy bonus OR hide it within a spoiler tag.

Well, I got to be on my way!” She runs off down the street grasping a package under one arm.

Klank appreciates the ride, while he's not bothered by a long walk in full plate he far less bothered by a short ride in full plate. "Thanks for the lift. Safe journey home." He hops off the back of the wagon, shaking the ground a bit as he lands.

"There's got to be a big market around this place for silversheen." He hunts down any such shop or stall that looks the part.

Klank will pass on gathering info, instead just accompanies the group in their endeavors, minus anything salacious Atae may do.

The door opens to a candlelit chamber with stone walls and a concave ceiling. At the opposite end, fresh flowers surround a slightly cracked statue of Aroden. Well-worn wooden benches fill the chamber, and an empty lectern stands to the left of the statue. The dimly lit interior is welcoming and clean of dust.

"Ya I wouldn't suggest eating skeletons or zombies for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Rabbit does sound good, stewed slowly with some simmered potatoes maybe, and a dark ale or stout." Klank can get distracted by talk of food pretty easily, his calorie intake is substantial.

"Some healing potions? I'll take one. Not working at the Lodge full time puts me on the 'no freebies' list." No knowledge skills to speak of for me.

Rhaegal's mouth waters as Klank talked about juicy rabbit meat stewed with potatoes. "Oh, can we find some, Kernal? That would be a meal fit for a Dragon!" He hands each of them a lesser healing potion from the bag.
