Please delete my pjrogers. I dotted before coffee and used the wrong alias. The correct one is Volsung who I dotted in correctly.

I've updated Volsung's profile here on the paizo site. One thing to note about him. He has the spell detect psychic significance and all sorts of occult unlocks such as automatic writing, faith healing, etc. In some ways, these are primarily for the GM to communicate things to us. If I detect psychic significance on an object and then use psychometry to read the psychic impression, I'll learn what the GM wants to tell me, no more and no less. Automatic writing and prognostication are similar. These occult unlocks are mainly for RP, fun, story telling, etc rather than being important mechanical components of the character.

The Waking Rune

And we're off!

The Waking Rune

I believe I have GM'd or played alongside most if not all of you. For those I have not GM'd before, I tend to keep up a decent pace in PbP and encourage you to post once a day or more if you can ;)

If you don't already have a "Bot Me" spoiler in your profile please set one up with botting instructions. I will usually delay or bot you in combat if you haven't posted within 24 hours of your turn coming up.

Enjoy the game :)

Sorry for being late to the party.

I still need to make some adjustments to Grunjar - finish the level up and shopping...
Hopefully, tomorrow at this time it's done.

The Waking Rune

No worries Grunjar.

The whole party has time to shop before departing for the Manor, and you're in Katapesh, the second largest city in the Inner Sea Region so anything you could want can be obtained - if you have the gold and the fame of course ;)

Silver Crusade

It seems like late afternoon, early evening? Would I have time to go out and try to gather information with diplomacy?

The Waking Rune

Sure, you can do that. Bear in mind that the Manor that you're heading to is around 50 miles from Katapesh by river, so locals aren't likely to know about it, but you might learn something about the Prophecies of Kalistrade and the Prophets.

Let's do some math, shall we? ;-)

Kahwen level 9
Reesa level 9
Mykel level 9 (instead of level 8)
Volsung level 8
Myth level 7
Grunjar level 7

With Mykel at level 8 the APL would have been: (9+9+8+8+7+7)/6 = 48/6 = 8.0

recalculating APL: (9+9+9+8+7+7)/6 = 49/6 = 8.167 (rounded 8.0)

As the APL is always rounded to a whole number, nothing changed except our chances to survive - they increased a bit. ;-)

just wanted to make sure i wasn't making anyone in jeopardy...will finish leveling him up shortly...still gotta decide what class to put him up as...

The Waking Rune

Since Bit of Luck requires a standard action in order to grant a reroll in the next round only, it doesn't work for a check that represents an extended period of time such as Gather Information or a Craft check to make something.

I will allow Burst of Insight though. That, and the similar Burst of Adrenaline, are weird spells because they operate on a very meta level. Cast as immediate actions "when you are about to roll a d20" - I think they can be used on extended action skill checks as long as the Daze effect doesn't wreck that. You also need to have the wand in hand at the time that you want the spell.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, Burst of Insight is weird and even more so when it's on a Wand and/or used out of rounds. I can see it not being allowed for social interactions like this because involves having a Wand out while you talk to people and at some point falling into a daze for a few seconds.

You may be aware that Outpost V has been announced. This is the next PbP convention, due to begin early March.

I expect we will be finished with this game by then, and I'll be sure to prod you along if needed. This scenario is relatively quick when run face to face.

I'm quite glad that you were able to remove the curse of incorporeal instability. Dealing with a PC dissolving into a puddle every couple of minutes for the rest of the scenario would be a pain ;)

So am I. In the future, Grunjar will definitely prepare remove curse.

(So far I have not played PFS or Pathfinder in higher levels. Still trying to get used to the nasty stuff...)

The Waking Rune

Most curses aren't as instantly debilitating as incorporeal instability, though I did once lose a vermin companion to the book-standard "50% of the time you do nothing" curse. Fortunately it was in the final encounter of a scenario and replacing the companion had no cost. Vermin don't get so many tricks to train :o

I will need to report this game no later than March 6th, even if we haven't quite finished by then.

It is also time for NostalgiaCon boon rolls!

Each player, including GM, may roll 1d20. A 19 or 20 wins a boon - roll 1d2 to determine which (though I don't actually know what the player boons are).

Any winners will need to let me have an email address that their boon can be sent to by the VOs.

@supervillan:
Would the manual count as a unique item according to the description of the locate object spell?
(I don't think so as in the mission briefing it's called a copy of the manual.)
If not, Grunjar could speed up the search a lot.
The idiot delegate we just found just needs to describe it to him in detail - and as it was waved in front of him, that should be doable, right?

Recruiting for a standard-mode run of 3-03 The Ghenett Manor Gauntlet.

Play will commence when NostalgiaCon begins on 10 January 2022.

I will select a party from in-tier applicants once sufficient applications have been made, and not later than 3 January. This is a tier 5-9 scenario (subtiers 5-6 and 8-9, as normal).

Please provide the usual details:

Player name
PC name
PFS number
Faction
PC level
Progression speed (slow/normal)

Plus anything weird or quirky about your character that you'd like to share :)

The Exchange

DoubleGold
Zac Freelan Level 6
135676-2
Grand Exchange
Normal Progression.
Hadn't played him since 2015.
Also one XP away from having a lineup applied to him. I dmed a bunch of APs back in the day but they couldn't be used on him as they get applied at later levels, this will jump him to like level 9 or close to that once he's done.

Grand Lodge

ooh...dot

GM, I have three free characters in tier, a 9 sorcerer, a 9 mutagenic mauler/brawler, and a level 5 Arcanist. I’d be happy to run any of them depending on if we go low or high.

Grand Lodge

Player name: Jhaeman
PC name: Makras
PFS number: 238544-6
Faction: Grand Lodge
PC level: 5
Progression speed (slow/normal): Normal

An oracle of Groetus, Makras will tell you constantly about why you're all going to die and nothing you do matters. He's a real gem, that dwarf!

Grand Lodge

Player name EbonFist
PC name Kahwen
PFS number 143948-9
Faction Grand Lodge
PC level 9
Progression speed (slow/normal) Normal

Kahwen has the Scout and Swordmaster Archetypes which means he applies his SA damage any time he moves at least 10 feet and can utilize a number of Fighting Stances with proper preparation.

He focuses on hitting fast and not getting hit in return.

Grand Lodge

signing up for this...just to play with Kahwen again....will have info shortly

Silver Crusade

Player name: Chris N. aka kaervek78
PC name: Grunjar
PFS number: 331079-1
Faction: Silver Crusade
PC level: Cleric of Desna 7
Progression speed (slow/normal): Normal

This heavy armored but still quite quick dwarven cleric of Desna would love to use his Domain Powers Door Sight and Bit of Luck for benefit of the party!
You'll forgive him that he cannot remember your names correctly. I assure you that he's trying... ;-)
He also was on a mission with Mykel once - worked out great!

Silver Crusade

Looks like we are trending high tier, so this is Gerald’s submission for my sorcerer 9 for consideration.

Gerald
Reesa
12445-8
Silver Crusade
Sorcerer 9
Normal progression.

Reesa is a little bit of a do it all sorcerer. A little summoning, a little buffing, a little healing with her heavenly fire. Nothing too out of the norm for her.

Grand Lodge

Player name: Paul McCrory/grimdog73
PC name: Mykel Therinor
PFS number: 125048-05
Faction: Grand lodge
PC level: swashbuckler(rondelero)7/brawler 1
Progression speed (slow/normal): Normal

just about done a scenario...should be gtg by kickoff..will level up after current scenario...so will be 9th lvl

The Exchange

Just realized I'm actually playing this exact scenario now, cancel my sign-up.

Hoping there is still space. I have

Player name Peter Rogers
PC name Volsung Dream Seer
PFS number 226993-12
Faction Silver Crusade
PC level Swash 1/Mees 7
Progression speed (slow/normal)

Aasimar

Liberty's Edge

Player Name: Otha
Character Name: Mythryndyr
PFS Number: 239913-2
Character Class/Level: 7th (Sniper 5/ Urban Ranger 2)
Faction: Liberty’s Edge
Progression: Normal

Half-Elf scout/ranged support fighter; can fight closer in if given a flank. Nothing real quirky though…

The Concordance

Player name: TriShadow
PC name: Malaz Bourreau
PFS number: 151777-1
Faction: The Concordance
PC level: 6
Progression speed: (normal)

Anything weird or quirky about your character that you'd like to share: Malaz has earned a chronicle sheet with a Butchering Axe (a weapon that is normally unavailable in PFS). The idea is that in two rounds time he can cast Lead Blades and add Bane to his weapon. It allows him to do an atrocious amount of damage.

Much as I like both Makras and Malaz (having played alongside or GM'd them previously), it looks like we have a high tier table.

Kahwen
Grunjar
Reesa
Mykel
Volsung
Myth

Please dot and delete in Gameplay at your leisure. Kick off isn't till 10th January.

If another spot somehow opens up, I'll submit

Fingalad Eldahir (level 6 Slayer/Magus)
and
Peribras Sandlock (level 9 Ranger)

Their profiles are both out-of-date, but I would level them up if selected.
