So what happens if there are more than 4 players since there are only 4 pregens? And what's the logic behind playing a pregen for 2 PP but your own PC for 1 PP? I know no one here wrote the rules, I'm just trying to understand the difference; it seems odd to 'penalize' players for playing their own PC.

![]() |

Since this adventure probably doesn't have the old 4 player or 6 player adjustments to encounters like old PFS 1e scenarios, it will be just like playing other adventures that had only 4 pregens; easier encounters. Like with "We B Goblins", if there were 6 players, 2 players would play an identical pregen as another player chosen from the original 4, changing only the name. There'd be 2 rogues and 2 wizards along with the fighter and cleric.
This is just speculation, but, I believe the reasoning for only 1 pp for playing your own PC is that the original story was written with the backgrounds of the pregens in mind. There's more to the entire story if playing one of the pregens to help tie everything together.
However, Nowruz is running it with an unofficial alternative introduction, and most likely, an alternative storyline (i.e. We're Pathfinders instead of plain ol' adventurers with a detailed backstory pertinent to the adventure) that someone posted on the PFS GM prep site.

Okay so my next question is can only 4 players get the 2 PP? If that's the case I'll take the hit and play my PC; I don't play as much PFS as most of you folks so it's not the end of the world to get shorted.
I've had it happen before with 'Master of the Forgotten Fortress' since I didn't know at the time that the Free RPG Day modules were only 1 PP.

Anyone that plays a pregen gets the 2 pp.
I like to purchase vanities, property, wayfinder enhancements, etc... on my PCs. I have no idea what's in store for the PC I'm applying the credit to, but 1 prestige can mean getting a nice Prestige purchase a chronicle earlier than expected.

I know. It kept my Arcanist from getting a Wand of Magic Missile until after his 2nd CS. And his Wand of CLW until after his 3rd.

List of Information (first draft)
_______________________________
1) two young adults RICHELLE and TOLWIN (not related):
- are kids of two deceased Pathfinders, know nothing about their parents' history
- are under the protection of the mayor of Highdelve, Winette Qarl
- are misbehaving, find out what is going on, guide them on the right path
- rigged the bloomgivers election and therefore are not allowed to attend the festival
2) plot against the gold dragon Aurelliax (who offered Highdelve patronage and protection):
- Gilda Korgren, an human agent of a cult of Kostchtchie, has a son, traveled to Highdelve more than a year ago to craft a ring with special significance to the cult of Kostchtchie
- a Port Ice–based shipping company is trying to track cargo that went missing between the port and Silverhall in southern Brevoy, cargo included several Thassilonian relics that could also be of value to the Kostchtchie worshipper
- Kostchtchie is the demon lord of giants and biting cold, main worshipers are giants
3) The Brightbloom Jubilee festival
- a 2-day party with a distinct structure of events:
Before, the town elects two young locals as Bloomgivers — an enormous honor. Early on the celebration’s first day, the Bloomgivers venture with an empty wagon up nearby Dendra’s Slope to collect brightblooms.
The jubilee then runs throughout the day, and it includes a full slate of amusements, games, and festive street food, all set up in the town’s main Protectress Square.
In the afternoon, the Bloomgivers return to town with the first harvest of brightblooms, and the townspeople fete the youths’ journey by escorting them from the gates back to Protectress Square.
There, the Bloomgivers hand out brightblooms to eager townspeople. The rest of the evening is spent as a public dance party known as the Brightbloom Ball. The jubilee’s second day is spent alternately removing winterizing measures from the town’s buildings and breaking into spontaneous rounds of song and dance.
- Aurelliax has begun lending the Bloomgivers a special amulet called the Golden Pendant (properties unknown)
- Aurelliax is in town!
@Party:
The list will be updated regularly.
Please feel free to point out anything wrong/missing.

I would add:
"Richelle and Tolwin, apprentices to Carth Garenth and Yarla Bowhammer"
Since I'm guessing the female dwarf talking to the Mayor is Yarla Bowhammer and they could be the lead to find Richelle and Tolwin.
And that our two wayward youths have been seen with the 'horned man'.

Haha! Awesome. Thanks!
I'm on my way to catch a flight from Denver to North Carolina. I'll wave as I pass over any of your houses!

Happy New Year! With attack rolls like Masa's on our side it certainly will be! ;-)

@GM Nowruz: I have a question regarding a faction goal. Would the Golden Pendant, the amulet of Aurelliax count for this goal?
Dark Archive faction goal: Recover a named minor artifact or major artifact during the course of an adventure.
"To quell their qualms, and to reinforce that Aurelliax would never suffer an outside threat to the town, the gold dragon has begun lending the Bloomgivers a special amulet called the Golden Pendant each year for their journey up the slope.
Not even the gold dragon has elaborated on exactly what the amulet can do, and she’s instructed the townspeople not to bother examining it much magically, but everyone knows that it’s a treasure that would make Abadar himself proud."

End of adventure!
Chronicle sheets will be ready in around 10 days.
480 gp
▫ Blessing of Aurelliax: By helping the people of Highdelve, you have also earned the favor of its protector, Aurelliax. As a sign of her appreciation, she has provided you a small golden dragon statuette. You can check the box that precedes this boon to tap into the statuette’s faint magic and gain one of the benefits below; afterward cross out all of the benefits below, (except Dragon’s Friend, if you selected that benefit).
Dragon’s Prosperity: Before attempting a Day Job check to earn additional gold at the end of one adventure, you can use this benefit to triple the amount of gold the check grants you (maximum 300 gp). Dragon’s Luck: Before you roll any one d20 roll, you can use this benefit to roll twice and take the higher result. For 1 minute afterward, you gain a +1 luck bonus on all attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks,
and saving throws.
Dragon’s Scales: You gain fire resistance 5 for 24 hours.
Dragon’s Friend: The statuette permanently transforms into a fairly harmless animal with supernaturally
golden features, such as gold-hued fur, feathers, or scales. Once per day, the animal can either deal an additional 1d6 fire damage with one natural attack or can gain fire resistance 10 against one attack. You can select any Diminutive, Tiny, or Small animal suitable for a familiar. You can choose to adopt this creature as your familiar, spirit animal, or similar companion, replacing your current companion at no cost. Otherwise, you can keep the creature as a loyal pet.
Highdelve’s Hero: You were instrumental in saving Highdelve from imminent attack and preserving its Brightbloom tradition. If you played one of the provided pregenerated characters, you earn the benefit below associated with that character. Otherwise, choose one of the benefits below. Cross out the other benefits.
▫ Brialla or Meraina: Thanks to the generosity and understanding of a Highdelve jeweler, you have acquired a replacement signet ring for your family. You gain a signet ring of your own, and when purchasing a magic ring, you can check the box that precedes this boon to enchant this signet ring, reducing the magic ring’s cost by 150 gp.
▫ Kiliuk: The people of Highdelve have helped you track down your family, and their stories help inspire you in your upcoming adventures. You can check the box that precedes this boon to gain one of the following feats for the duration of one adventure: Great Fortitude, Improved Initiative, Iron Will, Lightning Reflexes, or Toughness.
▫ Torgen: You have tracked down an errant shipment of expensive goods, which has earned you the favor of Brevoy’s finest merchants. When purchasing a weapon or armor of masterwork quality (or made of a material that is automatically masterwork, such as mithral), you can check the box that precedes this boon to reduce that item’s cost by 150 gp.

That scenario was a lot shorter than I expected. Thanks for a great game, Nowruz & everyone!
The intro-ish modules tend to be on the short side.
And yes, thank you Nowruz for running the module!I have a question for anyone here: Are any of the actual intro scenarios run anymore?

You can thank Masa for that.
Because without his heads the ettin was a much shorter encounter... :-P
Seriously, without those crits that ettin could have meant much more trouble (and in pbp a few days or probably a week more of combat rounds).
I don't know the stats, but e.g. the natural reach means you get an AoO for just approaching it...
Also, I think the scenario is designed for four pregens, not six (specialized) pathfinders.

Hey! Thanks for running. Sorry for disappearing. I got really sick and just completely spaced checking on this. Glad that we finished it with a flourish!
