Hello! Checking in to say that I look forward to this :)

As a note, I'm still pretty new to GMing 2e though I've got some play experience with it and I do have GM experience for 1e. So please bear with me when we get to my turn at the helm :)

Not sure yet what I'll be bringing but it'll either be a leshy monk or a human oracle of some sort.

I'll be kicking us off, but when it's my turn to play, I have either a Witch with 4 XP, or I'll make a new character if we need to fill a gap in the party.

Ladile: I've found GMing PF2 to not be too different from PF1. The biggest change is challenge point calculation and treasure bundles, but that's monstly "under the hood." If you're familiar with PF2, I'm sure it's going to be okay. :)

Thanks for setting this up, and for having me.
I can most probably switch my GM-ing position if needed (would prefer after Gameday X since I'd like to concentrate on the special I am running - I stopped PFS for a while and it is in Tier 7-8, so I have to work on it, learn the new books).
Happy to be here, and excited to play with you.

@GM Ladile re. GMing 2e PbP is always the best place to learn the rules differences, since you have time check stuff etc.. So I am sure we will not even see the problems and page-flipping you might be doing!

@Quentin - good to be playing with you again, I think that would be my first time to see you GM. Super excited.

@Lady Ladile - That is awesome. I have very small experience in GM'ing, but I found that doing it for a good team is very enjoyable.

@rainzax - I think we only played once at Pub Peril Crawl run by WaterySoup. You seemed like a fun player, I am looking forward to seeing your other PC. thanks for arranging that.

I don't think I ever played with 20-100 but I am happy to change that. Scratch that, I played with theirs Iris-1 in two SFS games. Ha! I know everyone. That bodes well!

So from the PC perspective, we have:
- Magus
- bard - face

I don't know how much frontline Magus is, but I guess we will find out ;) The rotating GM thing is a bit tricky as ideally we want to be ok with any of the players being removed from the party ;) I wonder how it will go.

I had a bunch of bards (the Crookedtoe sisters, Loblin, Noblin, Poblin etc., to dump GM XP into), so back to another one!

Popping in to add that I ordered my Secrets of Magic book awhile back, and while my character is mostly complete, I'll be finalizing Hybrid Studies and Spells once I get a good look at it, which, could fall shortly after our start date, given the global shipping challenge.

Awesome, and I so far am changing Rawiri to once again try Dwarf Swashbuckler. We will see how ti goes. I am trying the build on the bounty as we speak.

We're gonna start in a week, and I have a quick question. You can usually get extra information during the briefing if you roll well on certain skills. I've been informed that secret checks are now optional, as long as people don't cheat and metagame. I trust everyone to not do that, but just in case: do you prefer if I rolled for everyone in a spoiler window and give information to each character depending on the result, or would people prefer if I posted the crit fail, success, and crit success results in spoilers and let people roll themselves? I'm fine either way, I'd just like to know what you prefer.

Also, this might be a good time to start introducing your characters. I presume this takes place on the isle of Kortos, but if it's somewhere else, it's easily retconned.

My vote is "GM's choice", using the tools the game provides (Secret Checks, etc) as you see fit to tell your story.

I personally like when GM is doing secret checks. I can do them in a spoiler to not see the value if that is simpler for the GM.

I find it more fun if there is secrecy-- that I do not know if the info' we get is correct or wrong etc..

I am fine rolling in a spoiler and not looking.

But, I do not mind at all playing the PC that does not know, so no problem at all if the GM prefers to just have us roll.

Question: are we not going to delay the start day till Sept' 1st or such, for any wanting to play with the classes from a new book that has been pushed back?

My vote is to run it in whatever way is easiest for you, GM.

Since I'm playing an oracle I don't need to wait for Guns & Gears but I'm happy to push back our start date a little if anyone here was planning on using classes and such from that book.

Either way, guess I'd better get cracking on making my character, eh?

I'm fine with either. But considering no one so far has said they want to wait, I presume we'll start ASAP. Which, by the way, will probably be on Thursday, maybe Friday. The scenario says it will be released on the 25th, and because of time zones I'll see it on Thursday morning.

If you want to wait until G&G or Secrets of Magic, please say so before the 25th. If not, I'll presume everyone wants to start as planned on the 26th.

Also, considering I see two votes for GM decides and two votes for "secret checks please," I'll go with secret checks.

By the way, any phobias or triggers you'd like to stay away from? It's good to check in with people for these sorts of things. The scenario doesn't come with a specific trigger warning, but you never know.

Trigger warning? - are you asking for me as a player or Rawiri as a PC? I don't think I have any, and I think that is the first time that I see somebody asking.

Since we are on that subject, re. my character, I did consider not making this beauty pageant Miss, because, though I find the trope interesting, I did not want it to be construed as a reductive vision of women (ie. objectification for one). I hope that'll come across in the RP.

So, I was thinking of taking Scout as Exploration Activity-- unless someone else has that covered (w. something special)?

I have some Glyphs to give for extra hero points.
I have 4 Glyphs, but the Paizo site bumped me officially down to 2 when I went from the 3 to 4 (wrong direction, guys! But I hear it happens a lot, so...).
I imagine there are a bunch of others w. Glyphs, so even 2 should be enough for all to start w. 2 HPs?

Chronicle-wise this is a new character w. only an Inherited Wayfinder (link to the chronicle, and all info - I hope - in my character sheet).

For some reason the new messages from this game do no show up in my campaign page.
If it had, I would have wrote it down that would have liked to wait for the new book to be out.

With the release of the Secrets of Magic delayed, I have no way of doing a character. I was either planning on a Magus of some sort, probably melee, or a leshy summoner with the plant eidolon.

I don't mind waiting a bit, but the other players will have to agree.

Miss Golarion: as long as you play her tastefully and not as a dumb blonde who cries when she breaks a nail, I'm fine with it.

Rawiri: Yeah, I was asking as a player. I came across the practice a while ago, and while I think it'll rarely come up, I'd like to make sure this is a safe space for everyone.

My vote is to stick to our Start Date as planned.

I’ll play the first scenario with a character and rebuild it for the next scenario. That will leave me more time to see if I keep the leshy summoner idea or go for the magus.

With regards to playing a beauty pageant Miss, I actually know nothing of those. Beside watching Miss Congeniality and other movies that present the pageant. However it 'seemed to me' that a beauty pageant is a way to get popularity that then is used to make an impact. What I am trying to say is that I have no idea how such pageants could work in Golarion ;) But good luck with that ;)

With regards to waiting for a book, I wanted to propose a creative and not-allowed solution for people to start with rules from playtest and update the PC's when the book comes up.

Yeah, on the one hand, I've given enough warning and set a deadline. Plus, we've already begun, and I'd like to keep things going. On the other hand, it's only the very start, and technically Rainzax's character is also illegal. Normally I'd rule in favour of the player, but we do have to stick to the rules. >_> I really don't know and I'd rather see what the rest of the group thinks.

I had dotted the gameplay thread, as the campaign was listed in my campaign page. I had not posted in the discussion, that might be why it did not work correctly.

I thought of a replacement character yesterday evening when seeing that we were starting as planned. I had put their stat this morning but the forum ate my post.
We spent the day at an amusement park for the kid, sorry for the late posting today.

After having slept on it, this is my opinion: We said we wanted to start on the 25th, and have already started. Secrets of Magic was pushed back, and people understandably want to play a Magus. Rainzax already has the PDF, so he's even made one already.
I'm fine with what Farol suggested: make either a Magus according to the playtest rules or to the rules as presented in SoM, and update the character to the "real" version as soon as possible, perhaps even during the scenario (without metagaming and throwing around stats if they happen to be unfavourable at the moment).

How does that sound?

Hey folks, it's been brought to my attention that we *must* wait until the SoM street date and/or official sanctioning (because sanctioning might not happen at actual street date launch, though they've been a lot better about that lately) for the magus and summoner to be legal character options in a game, regardless of whether people have the PDF already. Otherwise, we'd have to play this as a 'home' game without earning chronicles.

Unfortunately I believe the easiest thing to do, if we don't want to wait and see what happens September 1st, would be for rainzax to make a different character and then hopefully rebuild them into a magus later. Other options would be for rainzax to GM this scenario instead and let GM Kwinten take one of the others on the list.

(I'd *really* rather not see anyone drop the group entirely over this but I understand if rainzax had his heart set on playing a magus.)

Luckily, we've only done the mission briefing and a little character introduction so we're good to pause where we are until we get things figured out.

My own apologies for not catching/pointing this out sooner as a VA; I've been focused on getting some other PbP things taken care of which is not an excuse, just a reason.

I'm a VA as well (though not for PbP), so technically I should've said something as well. I've heard that this caused quite a tizzy on the Discord chats, so I'll defer to my superiors.
I'm fine with either switching GMs or indeed switching out characters altogether. I was willing to give people the benefit of the doubt, but apparently that's been vetoed.

We were planning to run 3-01 + 2 intro scenarios and 3 repeatable

How about we change the 3 repeatable scenarios into 3 parts of the metaplot season 3?

Currently, there is announced 3-02 The east Hill Haunting (1-4 non-repeatable) and I heard a rumor that the PF2 3-01 begins 4 part metaplot series which we could play through as apparently those metaplot scenarios are better played in order.

What do you think?

I had given up on playing this character, so will not make a new one but simply just not start, and thus will not continue with this series either.

Hi everyone, Farol PMed me and directed me to this thread.

In general, I'm interested. But I do have a few barriers, so it's worth discussing (we can move it to another thread if rainzax wants to close this one).

1. Six scenario-length campaigns is too big for me to commit to in one block. I'd limit my commitment to 3 scenarios. I might commit to the back half after that, but no guarantees. I'd be happy to GM one of the first 3, and presumably if I don't continue, it'd be easy to find a player for the back 3.

2. I'm also waiting for Secrets of Magic to build a magus! This would actually be a plus for this game rather than a minus, if people are amenable for waiting. I'm buying a hardcover (it's a belated birthday present for my son) so the availability date is somewhat nebulous for me. I thought it was the 1st, but I visited some stores yesterday - one said the 7th, the other said the 10th. If people are willing to wait until then to start, this ends up being a benefit for me, I'll pull the character I intended to be a magus (Merian waves an enthusiastic hai hai to Farol!) and get to play her as I intended.

3. I'm already signed up for a #3-01 for Gameday. I'd probably keep my spot there and offer to GM it later in this rotation. I prefer to play before I GM, anyway.

4. I am wary of creating too many characters. I've got 4 level 1 characters and 1 GM baby at level 3, so I don't really want to make any more. I'd probably drop one of my Gameday games to avoid creating a new character, which is fine. But I should do it rather quickly to give someone else a chance to sign up.

I had given up on playing this character, so will not make a new one but simply just not start, and thus will not continue with this series either.

I don't mind waiting for Secrets of Magic, I would prefer to play now rather than later, but given that we are looking into 6 months-12 months enterprise I am flexible.

Doing this as a 5 (if we accept Watery Soup) means playing as a 4 man with 1 GM. It is fine, but in the times of Covid, I saw more people dropping/pausing due to all sorts of issues. We can also look for a 6th person, I can take care of it, or we can post on recruitment.
