Estelle of Hamel
Estelle moves up the stairs after Daniel, but with his way blocked by one of the remaining dwarves and there being no way out, she cannot do much more herself.
If Estelle has the movement to get adjacent to Daniel in one action (unsure, 20 ft speed). she grants him bit of luck. Otherwise she moves, then readies an action to move forward when a path opens further up the stairs.
Astella
Astella walks into the room a little and looks around to see if there is anything worth taking.
She keeps her bow out and ready in case anyone tries to escape.
GM Chyro
Estelle hurries herself after Daniel, gifting him a moment of Shaymara's fortune.
Next turn you roll your d20 twice, and take the better result.
Astella enters the room and takes a quick observation of the interior.
-------------------------
The living room is roughly 30 feet by 25 feet, and features only the basics. A circular table stands in its middle, with 4 chairs around it.
In the back stands a sturdy looking, if somewhat dusty, closet. On top of a small cabinet on another spot near the table, are writing materials. They appear recently used.
On the table lie cards and small pouches of money, suggesting the previous occupants were in the middle of a game involving waging money, before they were disturbed.
If searched, there is about 200 gold devided over the pouches.
An open kitchen is in the northwest, with smells of freshly roasted bacon.
-------------------
Cyan makes a final gathering of whatever in the room he is in, then comes out. "To the hatch, move it! Ryan will rue the day he ratted us out....."
Red (9 nl) says a few words in dwarven, and clenches something in his fist.
1d6 ⇒ 4, and recovers from some of his injuries.
You hear a soft creaking somewhere in the south west.
-------------------
Daniel, Brunhild
Astella
Since someone said earlier that there was no other way out, Astella thinks they have to come down sometime.
So, she keeps an eye on the stairs in case someone comes down that she can shoot, but until that time (or someone yells for help), she gathers up the gold, and she eats bacon if any is there... she'll share with their new dwarf "ally" as well, if he wants some.
She'll look out the window from time to time as well though, to see if anyone found another way out.
If they escape again, I say we give up on this quest. We just got some money, and it isn't worth it.
Brunhild Blackarrow
Keeping her eyes and ears open, Brunhild retained her watch. If any foe doubled back, or tried to outflank them, then she would be ready. Readied action shoot first foe seen
Daniel Cedric
Daniel moves up to threaten those near the hatch entrance. Or at least keep pace with the one he has been chasing. assuming after double moving after them he is close enough, or if need be there is a charge lane.

GM Chyro
As Brunhild continues to keeps watch, Daniel makes a swing with his sap at the dwarf bottlenecking his advance.
The thicker grey lines at the top of the stairs are the safety fences.
The dwarf takes a solid hit (not confirmed) to the head, and passes out on the floor.
There is a low cursed muttering coming from the southwest, at this happening.
When Daniel, now the way to advance is clear, moves only just further, he comes upon another dwarf.
================================
Abandoned house, round 5
Orange is KO, but the dwarf near Daniel moves away, hurried by the thought of following the previous' example of taking a forced nap.
There is a rusty creaking sound from the southwest, it can be heard by both Daniel & Estelle.
There is something happening somewhere above, some creaking sound, coming from outside.

"Good work! Now we just need to cath the other two before they get away!" Estelle cheers, and heads in the direction of the sound as fast as she could.
If she can see both blue and red at the current map conditions, she walks to the sqauare adjacent to both, which should barely be possible with 20 ft movement, and strikes red.
attack, sap, nonlethal vs red: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
damage, nonlethal: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
attack if AoO is incurred by either, sap, nonlethal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Astella, full of bacon and happy that they collected a little bit of gold at least, sticks to the entrance and makes sure no one can escape.
GM Chyro
If she can see both blue and red at the current map conditions, she walks to the sqauare adjacent to both, which should barely be possible with 20 ft movement, and strikes red.
The fog is still active. I've placed you near red, with going west is the 1st you'd encounter.
For their vices, the dwarf who was previously in the kitchen made some good bacon. Now Astella joins Brunhild in watch near the door.
Estelle swings her sap at the dwarf, though the fog hinders the accuracy of the attack. The dwarf hurries the other to move.
Cyan does, but can't move past his colleague at the hatch.
Red follows, and tries holding the (usually) secret door closed.
Opposed str check to force it open. You'd find it with a DC 16 perception. The fog is not affecting the room currently, as red will be standing in the secret corridor instead, so you have full vision again.

I'm a little confused, just to reset myself properly, I was NOT near the other dwarves, I did or did not see them go up the secret tunnel.

Cursing, Brunhild abandoned her watch and hurried off to investigate the source of the disturbance.
GM Chyro
@ Daniel. You did not see them enter the secret passage. However you have a fairly well idea of what area you would be looking in for one, due to hearing the creaking sounds.
Brunhild moves a little into the street, looking up around her.
It is then, that she notices something is happening on the roof of the abandoned house. A kind of hatch has opened, but nobody has emerged just yet.

You see something? Astella calls to Brunhild.
Are they trying to get out a different way?
Daniel Cedric
perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
Daniel moves over to where he heard the noises, but can't manage to see anything out of place.
He looks back to Estelle and shrugs before beckoning her over.
GM Chyro
Daniel starts looking for a door or switch that he knows must be near.
=============
Abandoned house, round 6
Yellow gets up the few steps to the escape hatch, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 then notices Brunhild with the bow. "Ow crap. Guys, every dwarf fer himself, they've set armed watches!"
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
The dwarf manages to move across the top to the other slope of the roof.....but his 'friends' are still to emerge.....and they won't have another choice but to do so, you're pretty confident about that.

Astella keeps an attack ready for if someone comes down the stairs, unless Brunhild calls for help.
GM Chyro
Botting.
Estelle approaches Daniel, taking a look in the area where he's looking at.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24, and she notices a section of wall that looks slightly different in pattern. "There! Try grabbing, or turning, or pulling that!"
Astella keeps an arrow ready in case a dwarf was fleeing back downstairs.
----------------------
Cyan heads up the steps through the hatch.
"Watches?" Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22, "Darn!"
He attemps to hurry himself over the slightly sloped roof.
Acrobatics, full speed?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 Just short of the DC.
Cyan turns too quickly, and loses his footing on his right, stopping his movement to steady himself.
Cyan is on the roof, and considered flat footed due to the roof being sloped.
Red lets go of the other side of the door, and hurries himself up to the roof. Acrobatics for full speed: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Doing a much worse job than the other, he drops belly down, and slides towards the edge of the roof. Reflex vs falling over the edge: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 He manages to stop himself from taking a drop, putting his heels against a rusty bit of gutter.
Daniel, Brunhild

Not sure what the rules would be on this, but it seems cool...
Seeing one of their foes hanging from the roof, Brunhild raised her bow and fired a single arrow. She wasn't looking to kill, but rather to incapacitate and capture. "Surrender!" She said, as she let the arrow fly.
Hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Perfect Shot: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage but aiming for his hand/arm, hoping to make him fall: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Then move towards the dwarf hanging off the edge
Astella
Hearing Brunhild shouting outside, Astella changes her position. she moves outside to a position where she can see the roof and the door, and gets ready to shoot anyone escaping from either one.
(She does not shoot the one that Brunhild is ordering to surrender, unless the person starts running or attacking again. If they surrender, then no problem.)
GM Chyro
1 person marked this as a favorite.
The dwarf isn't hanging from the edge just yet. He stopped himself from going over it by putting his heels in the roof's gutter. But it should work.
Brunhild puts an arrow in the currently muscle strained leg of the dwarf. The sudden pain of the severe wound, combined with already existing bruises, causes him to pass out. He no longer keeps himself on the roof, and slides off.
Taking fall damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8, he plummets down onto a rainbarrel below and then onto the street.
Daniel
Daniel Cedric
Daniel moves to the spot Estelle pointed to and tries to throw it open.
str: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
GM Chyro
Daniel easily pulls open the secret door, especially now that red is no longer holding it.
It is now a clear path onto the roof, and Daniel can get the first 5ft there if he wants to.
Moving on the roof is a DC 12 acrobatics for 1/2 movement speed, a DC 17 to move at full speed.
==================================
Abandoned house, round 7
Acro 1/2 speed: 2d20 + 7 ⇒ (15, 20) + 7 = 42
Yellow now more carefully makes his way down the other side of the roof, leaving only cyan standing in view of Brunhild and Astella. They can't see it, but the pressure has a few beads of sweat coming over his temple.
Estelle moves after Daniel, and bestows upon him guidance for his next roll.
Astella

Brunhild & Daniel
Astella
You got this side? Astella asks Brunhild.
If she indicates yes, then Astella will walk around the corner of the building and make sure she can see anyone trying to get away from that side.
Brunhild Blackarrow
”Uhm…maybe? Sure. Sure, I got this.” She said, as much to herself as to Astella.
Astella
You sure? You need help tying that one up? Astella says, pointing to the one flat on his face beside the rain barrel.
She moves around until she can see Yellow again.
GM Chyro
Astella high tails around to the other side of the house, where she spots yellow heading over the roof to that of the adjacent building.
Cyan, now with Daniel emerging from the hatch, or at least showing his face, dares going full speed.
Acro full speed: 2d20 + 7 ⇒ (10, 13) + 7 = 30, only just does he make it up the slope, and manages to almost catch up to his friend.
Which brings him into view of Astella.
Brunhild notices something, as cyan has his back towards her. Contrary to yellow and red, he has a pulled down hood covering his neck.
Daniel, Brunhild

Daniel will move to the top of the roof in order to get vision on the fleeing dwarves.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
He then contemplates the idea of making a running leap to bring down the lot of them, and himself, over the side of the roof.
Would it be possible for Daniel to take a dive and knock the dwarves off their feet? With the intention of toppling them all off the side of the roof. With the understanding of course that he would be going with them. Like, a soccer tackle. And if so, what would I need to roll for that?
GM Chyro
@ Daniel.
Nice roll, that will get you to the edge towards the 2nd slope on your move action.
Yellow has made progress enough to be out of reach, but cyan is still up for grabs.
If you want to dive bomb him off the building, which is pretty badass in this scene, i'd say make an acrobatics check against his AC, as you are throwing yourself at him with a calculated jump.
You have still the +1 from guidance, add another +1 for height advantage.
Daniel Cedric
He would be trying to take two of them with him, since he'd likely be ending his pursuit at that point haha. Would it be possible to take one with him, and at least trip up another to force some checks or saves?
GM Chyro
Sorry, but there's the headstart of yellow over cyan, plus a maneuver like this lets one target only one person with it.
Daniel Cedric
1 person marked this as a favorite.
fair enough.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 = 15
Daniel Makes a dive at the dwarf. Hoping The others can bring down the other one.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Probably to break his own fall.
GM Chyro
Well done.
As the two dwarves make their way across the rooftop, Astella sees Daniel pause up above. He takes a wager and makes a jump towards cyan.
Everyone will now have noticed cyan is wearing a pulled down hood in his neck.
It almost misses, but Daniel's guess of trajectory is just accurate enough to grab hold of the dwarf's flank as he sends them both tumbling down the roof.
The 2nd acrobatics would be a reflex, as with jumping here would leave no solid footing to make acrobatics on, but it'd be enough.
As both tumble over the edge of the roof, Daniel manages to slow his fall by grabbing the roof's gutter with one hand. The momentum of the fall is still strong enough to make him fall, but not as hard as could have been.
Cyan falling dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
Daniel falling dmg: 1d6 + 2d3 ⇒ (6) + (2, 3) = 11 2nd d3 is nonlethal. 8 normal dmg, 3 nonlethal.
Both cyan and Daniel are near one another, and prone.
Brunhild?
Brunhild Blackarrow
Brunhild hurried towards the downed dwarf. What mattered now was securing a prisoner. She hoped that he was alive so that he could face real justice. Dying in the street worked, but it was far from ideal…she stopped when Daniel fell with a foe still active. She fired, only managing a single shot on the move.
Hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Astella
So, I see in the maps what looks to be the roof, but you said yellow was "heading over the roof to that of the adjacent building" ... and I didn't even know there was an adjacent building, so I will need to know where that is in order to follow/shoot I assume.
GM Chyro
For Brunhild's position in the street, yellow had left los prior. A 2x move will get you to the side where you can see him.
Brunhild moves up to the fallen dwarf, who seems to have a serious headwound from the fall. But blood does not run too quickly, his coloration not pale yet.
@ Astella. This house being a hideout with roof escape, an escape route will need to be fairly viable. For this reason a few nearby roofs would have to be (nearly) adjacent to other roofs. That said, you would have noticed, on this side of the street, that there are but a couple houses' roofs that provide such close proximity, he'll have to start making a few more difficult acrobatics and climb checks to escape, provided he survives a few rounds of your team's arrows.
=================
Abandoned house round 8
Yellow makes a short hop for the other roof, Auto pass. Acro full speed?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12, but he lands unbalanced, stopping his 1st movement to stabilize.
Acro full speed: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
He gets halfway the 2nd roof.

Astella attacks yellow, trying to distract him and get him to fall, but doesn't have a lot of success.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9
(Unless she can take that prepared attack from earlier, but I know that is a bit of a stretch.)
Can she start casting with her move action, for a full round spell? I want to summon a bat or something that can fly and help out.
GM Chyro
Unfortunately not. Starting a full round summon devided over 2 turns requires a standard action.
While the arrow misses him, it puts some mental pressure on the fleeing dwarf. His buddy cyan though, is much less in the clear though.
He gets up next to Daniel, shaking off some dizzyness, then moves away 20ft.
Daniel, Brunhild
Daniel Cedric
AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 Since we are both prone, the penalties cancel out. Thankfully.
nonlethaldamage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Daniel swings at the dwarf as he stands, hoping that their joint predicament keeps the dwarf from dodging the blow.
If the dwarf manages to climb to his feet and flee, Daniel will move after him, drawing a javelin as he does.
GM Chyro
There is no dodging a nat 20, sir.
As cyan rises, he gets a solid knocking over the head from Daniel's sap.
After the falling damage, this is too much, Nd he passes out.
One of your quarry apprehanded. :)
Brunhild
Brunhild Blackarrow
Double move after the fleeing dwarf Brunhild thought about calling out to the fleeing dwarf to surrender, but decided to save her best. What she needed was to get a clear line of sight so that she could send a pair of arrows after him before he could get away. It made the most sense to focus on lining up the shot.
GM Chyro
Brunhild heads over to the other side, where Astella is, and sees yellow moving over the roof.
Round 9
Acro full speed: 2d20 + 7 ⇒ (9, 15) + 7 = 31
A slick rooftile briefly makes him stop to regain his footing, but he reaches a part where a little scaling of chimney is in order.
If he can climb it and traverse that roof, he'll manage to escape. But both climbing and roof travel are more than 1 check each.

Two arrows is too much, and he falls to his side, slowly sliding off the roof from momentum.

Seeing the dwarf fall to the ground, obviously dead, Brunhild lowered her bow. Somehow killing her own kind felt different. Feeling nauseous she leaned against a nearby wall and fought down the lump in her throat. Despite knowing the hypocrisy of her feelings, this fight hit her hard. Having taken a much needed moment she went to rejoin the others, hoping to see that everyone was alright.

Astella quickly stops casting and goes to help Ryan, checking to make sure that Red is still alive.
Thanks for helping, Ryan. I know that this must be really hard for you.
We should recruit someone to play Ryan. :) In any case, though, when we go to turn these ones in though, let's make sure Ryan is elsewhere, because if they confess, she might come after him as well, so we need to make sure he is safe until we can get him out of here.
After they get the two live ones (Cyan and Red I believe) tied up and stabilized if needed, and the dead one (Yellow) to also take in, Astella suggests that they search them all, then she returns to the house to search for the stolen goods, and any other things that look nice or seem valuable. Astella isn't really into thievery, but being poor and relying on others for so long has played its part, and bad guy stuff seems like fair game to her, especially in this case where their employer doesn't really have a reputation for mercy. She also wants to check and see if there is any more bacon, because darn that was really good.
(Of course, she won't take ownership of the stolen items they were supposed to recover... just saying that she is going to feel free to take pretty much anything else.)
GM Chyro
Red appears to have a head injury from his collision with the rainbarrel, but it is not a lethal one.
Upstairs, Daniel had knocked out orange as well, leaving you with 3 captives.
Between the four, each was wearing mwk leather armor, carrying mundane shortswords, and daggers. No cash, you had confiscated that from the game table already. There are 3 potions of CLW.
Red was wearing a simple wooden holy symbol around his neck.
, spirit of flora.
Cyan carries a tiny cilinder, the size of a man's thumb, in an inner pocket on his person. It has a numerical lock on it, 3 digits ranging from 1 to 4. Further he carries a small pouch with a few rough gemstones.
Probably worth 200 gold.
That still leaves the house itself. Do you wish to explore? If so, how thoroughly?
