Has any translating been happening (specifically the previous spoilers)? Also: having played this before, I will refrain from leading/follow-up questions :).

You can assume everything has been translated.

Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18
"So it's haunted by evil spirits and filled with dozens of traps? Sounds like a challenge!"
Adumariel's eyes sparkle with delight at the thought. She listens to the answer to the Commodore's question
"We must venture into the library. Can you tell us of the traps so that we might avoid them and allow them to continue holding the spirits inside?"
| GM Watery Soup |
"What kind o' evil spirits?"
“They look like us, but you can tell them apart because the spirits are always backwards. They stare into your soul and make you fight yourself as a test. If you fail, they eat you.”
"Can you tell us of the traps so that we might avoid them and allow them to continue holding the spirits inside?"
"We can sell you a map of the Hall of Trials! Only 50 gold pieces."

Suussmaar listens and touches his chin.
“Well, they sound scary! We would definitely appreciate your support with the map. But maybe it can be more reasonably priced?!“

“Good! 30 gold then!“
I assume we just share the cost.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Adumariel nods in appreciation at Suussmaar's negotiating skills, and looks over his procured map. Afterwards, she checks on her gear.
"Note that my umbrella is on my left side, and my thornblade on my right."
She studies the other pathfinders, making sure that they all have some sort of identifiable asymmetry, lest they should be surprised by their evil duplicates. Once she's done, she suggests moving toward the library.
"We want to spend as little time as necessary here, so we should make a move when you're all ready"
Once they've reached the library she'd cast a few longer duration spells, Heightened Awareness, Perceive Cues, See Invisibility, but not until they're ready to move in
Tsadoc Sem Luxjed
|
"Symmetry? Good idea!"
Though how do I do that for Martin & I?
| GM Watery Soup |
The kobolds draw the Pathfinder a map of the library.
The map is shown on Slide 4. Because it's very large, the four quadrants are shown on separate maps on Slides 5-8.
The kobolds also draw three large dots on the map. They explain that those are the places they've set traps.
The trap locations are marked with red circles.
---
You will start on Slide 5 in the yellow box. Please make a note on Slide 2 if you have any special passive feats - trapfinding, etc. Otherwise, I'll just make a Perception check with every post with the assumption that you're all on your toes.

Can all of you try the sense motive please.

I can try, but I cannot make the DC sense motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16

Adumariel Odranti

I've updated Adumariel's stats on the slide, with her spells her perception is now +21 and can see invisibility. All three spells last for 90 minutes, so let me know when the time's up!
Adumariel steps forward alongside the Commodore.
"Allow me Commodore, we should be wary and inspect this place very carefully before we proceed, now matter how enticing the prospect of ancient knowledge might be"
She bathes the area in divinations, first using her discerning wayfinder to detect magic, then dropping her goggles over her eyes and scanning the room.
With her goggles she's casting Detect Psychic Significance and using her aura sight class feature (mainly to check if the Commodore is evil :)

I thought Sense Motive was Charisma! So it is possible I can make the DC, but alas 17+2=19. Soooo.... much closer!"I must have hit my head harder than I thought."

Each reaches into his coat and pulls out three platinum coins. "Yer payment, kobold. Nuthin' like a good treasure map!"
He then looks over to Adumeriel with his golden smile and another half-bow. "But o' course m'lady. Yer the captain o this trip after all."
You are making me do research on my own items...lol
| GM Watery Soup |
Can Sense Motive be aided?
Suussmaar
|
“Hmm ... then we need to be careful. Who here would like to go first so that they can check properly for traps!?“
Before going into he library Suussmaar casts defending bone on himself.
Duration 1 hour/level or until discharged
You animate a bone with necromantic energy, giving it the power to float near your body and interpose itself against physical attacks. This gives you damage reduction 5/bludgeoning. Once the bone has prevented a total of 5 points of damage per caster level (maximum 50 points), it is destroyed and the spell is discharged. This spell has no effect if you have damage reduction from another source.
Tsadoc Sem Luxjed
|
Tsadoc will take the lead, (but he can't passively search for traps). Someone (non-replaying) want to decide where to go? If not he will head up the first set of stairs (those overlook the rest of the room right?).
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

We all are checking for traps I assume. GM, can you roll perception for all of us?
| GM Watery Soup |
The ceiling inside of the library is 40 feet high from the floor of the entry hall, though several of the sections are on elevated platforms. The interior of the building is dimly lit by a combination of chandeliers, dangling glowing glass orbs, and wall sconces with magically illuminated lanterns backed by shining brass mirrors. The railings around the edge of raised platforms are vertical polished glass panels topped by handrails. Virtually all of these surfaces have been smeared with soot, ash, or paint to diminish their reflectivity, and those reflective surfaces at ground level which haven’t been marred or covered have been smashed.

Perception (Suussmaar): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Perception (Tsadoc): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Adumariel and Tsadoc, with the aid of the kobold map, see the first trap, just inside the entrance. It appears to be some kind of pressure plate connected to a brass statue to the south.
Suussmaar
|
”Let us throw something on the pressure plate and step back before that?!“ Suussmaar asks.
Adumariel Odranti
|
"Let me try to disable it; if we trigger the trap it might damage the books. I am no expert, but I have a little experience"
Adumariel doesn't have trapfinding so she can't do magic traps, but she is OK at disable device for mundane ones
Adumariel uses her wayfinder to check the trap for magic, then if it's not magical attempts to disable it with her thieves tools. She also drops her goggles down and channels some of her magic through them to peer a few seconds into the future as she does it.
That's using the sudden insight divination school power to get a +4 to the roll
Disable Device, sudden insight: 1d20 + 16 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 16 + 4 = 33

Adumariel successfully disconnects the pressure plate from the mechanism below.

As Each starts moving towards the statue, its head speaks.
It speaks in Tien, but since Adumariel speaks Tien, I'm going to assume everything is translated for the remainder of the scenario.
"The library is closed until further notice."
Art on Slide 5.

Suussmaar approaches the statue and bows.
"May we ask for permission to receive a special permit that allows us entry into the museum? Are you authorized to grant such a permit?" he asks with a friendly smile.

"Fascinating, just fascinating."
Adumariel is excited when she sees the statue speak, and wonders if she's familiar with this type of magic.
Knowledge Arcana, heightened awareness: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 12 + 2 = 31
She steps up alongside Suussmaar and adds
"We are seeking the Ruby Phoenix herself, Hao Jinn. Have you seen her?"
| GM Watery Soup |
Adumariel is familiar with this type of construct. It's a cephalophore, capable of seeing through its severed head. It would respond to orders given by its creator.
The statue ignores all the questions and repeats, "The library is closed until further notice!"
The faces in the mirror shards change from reflections of the Pathfinders to a laughing Tien woman. See Slide 4. They seem to be laughing at the Pathfinders with cruel mockery.
Commodore Each
|
"Hehe..," Each chuckles, looking at Sussmaar. "Maybe ye face ain't as purty ye thought." As he chuckles he draws his rapier in his right and one of the double barrel pistols in his left.
Tsadoc Sem Luxjed
|
Tsadoc whispers, "Can we tell it we are the new night watch?"
Adumariel Odranti
|
"As I thought, it's a construct. Probably a guardian of the library. It may attempt to stop us from exploring, but I see little hope of convincing it we are its creator..."
As she's speaking, Adumariel is backing away and starting up the stairs opposite the statue in order to begin exploring away from it. At Tsadoc's suggestion she inclines her head and indicates the statue in a gestures that says: "Be my guest".
Suussmaar
|
Suussmaar prepares his adamantine blanched arrows and aims at the statue.
"I think this will end with a fight."

"Ehh, I meant of course that this will end in a fight if anybody comes into the museum as it is closed! I mean of course we are the new night watch!" he says with some insecurity.
Commodore Each
|
I greatly respect the attempt Noral. That said, -1, hilarious.
Each looks at Sussmaar in disbelief for a couple moments and then bursts into a fit of laughter. He tries to say things every so often, but cannot manage to overcome his laughter.
Tsadoc Sem Luxjed

"Hi! I'm Tsadoc and this is Martin. We are on exchange from Godak University! We are here to research all the great animals recorded in your annals so that we can pass this knowledge to families all across the world. The exchange part is of course that we watch over the collections while the museum is closed. Here, let me show you our most recent presentation about the rams in far off Qadira. It's so cool!"
On the cue both he and Martin strike a pose. Then he touches the amulet on his chest and transforms into a clumsy rendition of a ram, complete with curving horns, bristles and some splayed hooves. He explains the adaptations a ram might have and how these help the creature in its environment. Tsadoc carefully avoids saying things like chops, barbecue, or mint chutney the halfling Enora Soup so focused on during his last assignment.
Edutainer: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
If allowed the routine will last about 20 minutes. The 'transformation' has no mechanical benefit, except to add to the druid's land speed.
