Kaixik

(Just to the group)
"This thing is the natural enemy of dreamers - it's literally the stuff of nightmares! Be careful!"
(To everyone)
"Oh, just like that? We've passed the final test? Well, we're not in any hurry. You're probably much more exciting than anything further in, anyway. What is your name? How did you come to be here? Speaking for the group, we are very interested in everything about this place, not just rushing straight to the inner sanctum!"

After Kaixik's mental thought, Oz wonders why it would be here if this is a place a dreamer sent us to...
The elebrian starts to very, very slowly back away from the dragon, trying to keep his distance.
GM Farol
"What's in the ineerrrrr parts? A treasure, lad! As always there is a treasure of extraordinary value."
Turning to Kaixik and seeing Oz taking a step back, the dragon takes few steps forwards
"You are so curious, so interested. My name is Kanavu, and I've been here for longer than I wished. When you open the runes I would be free to go..." the dragon takes another step the claws of the dragon leaving small marks on the sandstone floor.
"What I am interested in is what terrifies you?" asks walking closer to you...
The dragon begun to move towards you
Kaixik
|
Kaixik "Terrifies? Oh, heh, probably the Swarm. Hive minds, no sense of self, losing everything unique about..."
Kaixik trails off as the dragon begins approaching. Almost involuntarily, he takes a step back.
(To the group)"Hey guys, anybody wanna stop the dragon?"

Oz doesn't raise his pistol, but he does bring it into plain view. "That's close enough. If we've passed the test, than let us through and we can all be on our happy way back home and you can be off to...wherever nightmares go home to roost, I guess?"
GM Farol
Init, Oz: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Init, K: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3

Init, Charlie: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11
Init, Kanavu: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Kanavu looks at K and then stops and stares at Oz.
"That's close enough? Or what? I think I will crush you and take the tablets from your bodies" he says and takes another step forwards...

Smoky shakes her head...coming out of the semi-fugue state she apparently got while swimming....probably water in her ears or something.....
Pulling out her shuriken she throws it at the dragon using her eyes to help with the surrounding area.....looking for just the right spot.
Trick Attack (survival): 1d20 + 17 - 20 ⇒ (6) + 17 - 20 = 3 CR that is tricked
Shuriken (thrown) KAC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Damage, Piercing (magical: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Trick Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5

Oz snaps his gun up quickly while dancing backwards a few steps, hoping his movements are cloaked by the presence of his fellow starfinders engaging in battle.
Trick Attack Stealth vs. CR: 1d20 + 12 - 20 ⇒ (10) + 12 - 20 = 2 or below is flat-footed
Anchoring Murmur Sonic Suppressor: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 vs. EAC
Sonic Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Trick Attack Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
*sigh*

" .....this is not a good idea.."
Charlie evaluates his life choices as he moves close next to the dragon while swinging his fist and hoping to land a blow
"Let's dance! I prrefer to Tango!"
To hit KAC: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 vs flatfooted since it hasn't acted yet?
B damage if hit: 1d4 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 3 + 2 + 2 = 13

What I would post if you say yes (feel free to copy/paste openly for the sake of time) -
GM, at this juncture I'd like to use something. A few years ago, Paizo honored me with a campaign service coin. The best thing about the coin at a table is that I can use it to grant somebody else a reroll with the benefit of my GM Novas. As such I would like Charlie to reroll his attack roll with an additional +5! :-)
GM Farol
First of all - I forgot about being flat-footed on the first round :( Which will make Smoky attack a hit.
From Oz:

If you were wondering, yes CanisDirus casually brought into a conversation the fact that he has 5 Novas ;)
As the dragon is bragging Smoky can see that her shuriken is covered in blood. Smoky's previous attack hit for 9 dmg
Charlie takes a swing at the dragon. The punch was off, but some magical interference change the course of the hit and made a big dent in the scales. With the coin it is a hit, reroll will tell if crit.
The dragon takes a bite at Charlie
Attack@Charlie vs KAC: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
Damage, piercing: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Ouch!
Dragon sinks its semi-translucent teeth in Charlie's chest. The unbearable pain is mixed with overwhelming fear.
Soon you all feel the same overwhelming fear, a panic even of you facing a great foe... then the dragon takes a step towards Smoky
Turn Tracker - Of Dragon and Bear (Bold are up - moved K to be part of the crew)
Oz Will save DC13 or be shaken for d4 rounds
Smoky Will save DC13 or be shaken for d4 rounds
Charlie -17 (SP 7/24) - pending reroll of his previous attack, the +5 from the coin will make it a hit, but there is always a 20
two Will saves DC13 or be shaken for d4 rounds (if you fail both you are fleeing for d4 rounds)
K Will save DC13 or be shaken for d4 rounds
Kanavu -22 (that includes Charlies attack)
All four of you are under Frightful Presence - if you succeed you will be immune to it for 24 h. Charlie is also under the Nightmare Bite effect - the same rule if you pass you get immunity.

Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Oz barely keeps his wits about him, rushing forward and behind Charlie, using the shadows of the chamber to hide the angle he's firing from.
Trick Attack Stealth vs. CR: 1d20 + 12 - 20 ⇒ (16) + 12 - 20 = 8 or below is flat-footed
Anchoring Murmur Sonic Suppressor: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 vs. EAC
Sonic Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Trick Attack Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
GM Farol
Oz barely but withstands the fear.
Oz ducks behind Charlie and uses his stealth skills to trick the dragon. As a result, he lands a solid blow at the dragon's scales.
A text book trick attack ;) due to trick the hit lands. Well done.

Will save DC 13: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Rounds: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Smoky feels a shiver of ice going down her spine.....and she hates it...but can't do anything about it.
With the ice going through her veins, she does what all bears do...fight or flight.
1 fight, 2 flight: 1d2 ⇒ 1
She leans back her head and ROARS! She then charges the creature that made her afraid!
Ferocious charge, can charge without penalties
Swinging her paw, she uses her sharp claws on the dragon.
Unarmed Paw (KAC): 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 5 - 2 = 15
Damage (Slashing) (nonmagical): 1d3 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

I think I get a re-roll to hit last round?: 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 5 = 28
Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Charlie wiggles his fingers in front of the dragon
"Ohhh....scarrrrry"
before starting to sweat and needing to gulp away some actual fear
rounds shaken: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Charlie then closes his eyes and starts to wail away at his opponent after backing away a little bit and getting a running start
To hit Kac: 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 - 2 - 4 + 2 = 24
B damage if hit: 1d4 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 + 2 + 3 = 14
Extra crit damage: 1d4 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 + 2 + 3 = 13
...and landing a devastating blow
GM Farol
Smoky decides to fight and charges at the dragon, whom dodges the hit letting it slide on its scales. But Charlie has no trouble hitting with his fist.
The blow makes the dragon take two uncertain steps before his shadowy silhouette began to tremble and vanish.
"The nightmare is not over..." says the Kanavu fading in the distance.
Fight is over! Congratulations Starfinders!
With the dragon being there no more, you can put the table in the socket and lift the forcefield blocking your passage to the stairs.
The stairs lead down to a vault where various strangely shaped bottles and cryptic devices are stored on shelves: which you hope are the Dreamer’s relics that you have come to retrieve.
After securing them and finding your way back to the ship. Unfortunately, you need to take the same route back...
Tired and soared you get to the ship and leave towards Absalom Station.
The End!
Feel free to RP along

Kaixik prepares to psychically assault the dragon.
"YOU DON'T SCARE..."
But stops as Charlie absolutely demolishes the creature.
"...us. Oh."
As the dragon whispers its final goodbyes, Kaixik comments. "Honestly the swim over was more scary. Huh. So you just punch it really hard then, Charlie."
After everybody retrieves the relics, Kaixik is overjoyed. "Great job, everybody! It was a pleasure working with all of you. Hopefully I'll see you again soon!"

Oz takes a breath. "Well...that was a thing."
"Is everybody alright?" Despite his sour expression, Oz seems genuinely concerned for everyone's health.
