Even though I typically play martial characters I don't mind limiting adventure days because that's what real people do. Pushing beyond the limits is something people do in controlled environments with little actual risk, like athletics. If it's life or limb on the line safety first is the rule. Vanishingly few people go on past their means in dangerous situations just to see if they can do it and not die. I like games with verisimilitude whenever it's possible.
You'll get no argumetn from Aisling on most of that! Lawful = careful. The only reason here she's in a hurry is that there's someone missing, so there's a time element to consider. As players, we knwo that the dungeon will wait for us until we're ready to hit it. But our characters don't :)
Kintargo GM
Oh, right. Apropos of nothing much - when you get your Rebellion to Rank 2 (that's at 10 supporters), you all get a bonus skill point. Just for those of you who're feeling that lack of skill points. It can be applied to any skill you'd like, even!
Kintargo GM
Uh, so... yeah. That just happened.
To be totally transparent, it also could have done a death roll, which would have killed Aisling outright (9 more damage, already taken 12, her Con's only 10...). So, uh. I didn't do that, because I didn't feel like that would be fun.
If you guys want me to, I will take that result, but I don't think "go find someone to resurrect Aisling" is an especially fun plot seed at the moment.
Aisling Talbot
I appreciate that :)
Combat at lower levels is always a risk jsut because it only takes one good roll to put you down. Besides, Aisling is the one who pushed for another adventure today, so there's something poeitic about it coming back to bite her! Pun most definitly intended (hey, I'm dying, it's allowed)

Random thought for Vantine: Don't forget your Cryptic Omens ability:
Each day, when a mirror witch consults with her patron mirror, the patron fragment can speak a few words of cryptic advice about the witch’s future. While the words are often obscure when the fragment utters them, they nearly always make sense to the witch at just the right moment aid her in dealing with the threats of the day. Once per day, after the witch receives this advice, she can gain one of the following benefits without taking an action: gain a +2 insight bonus on a saving throw she is about to attempt; gain a +2 insight bonus on a Bluff, Diplomacy, or Sense Motive check she is about to attempt; or instead of rolling initiative, treat her initiative as if she rolled a 12 on the die. She can’t use this last option if she can’t act during a surprise round. She doesn’t choose which benefit she gains while consulting the mirror; instead, she does so when she would be about to roll a saving throw, initiative check, or appropriate skill check.
Not likely relevant now, but worth remembering.
Kintargo GM
Understood. Thanks for letting us know.
Kintargo GM
Nyxra, please put the +1 leather armor in your profile and update your stats when you can, otherwise I'm going to forget that you're supposed to have it, and keep hitting you on 15s rather than on 16s. It might make a difference here!
Just to clarify, I'm amusedly exasperated, not angry. I realize that the above could be read in anger, but it wasn't meant to be that way.
EDIT: Jessi should add the Juliac Signet ring to her profile.

And things have gotten dodgy for posting here too. We've had a major snowfall for Portland, it's probably like most any Tuesday in Minnesota or Wisconsin. But since temps here tend to hoover right around freezing when it happens here, we get unhealthy amounts of ice along with the snow.
Very bad for power lines. I lost power for part of yesterday, and the storm continues. Hopefully the temps will drop a little more and it will be fluffy. Trees will start collapsing if their ice sheaths get much thicker.
Vantine Roubanis
I suppose I should have went with the Misfortune Hex over Evil Eye. But Misfortune isn't all that practical until it can be paired with Cackle. Just another of the quandaries of being a low level witch.
I haven't forgotten about Cryptic Omens, just haven't seen a use for it yet.
Kintargo GM
Yikes, stay safe and I hope you don't lose power - it sucks to lose power in the cold. Wait, unless your heating system is disconnected from your power, which I think most are. In which case it sucks, but rather less than I was thinking.
(I had to go without heat for a week in February once. It wasn't fun - it was 50° F/10° C inside for the whole week.)
Vantine Roubanis
Yeah, heat is separate, and I have a fireplace. The fireplace isn't practical for heating, but it's a psychological boon on days like this.
Kintargo GM
On an unrelated note, I just wanted to say that I'm having a ton of fun running this for you guys, and I hope you guys feel the same in playing it.
Kintargo GM
To be transparent: the alligator is going to return to its pool now - it has been hurt, and it doesn't have a huge investment in attacking/killing the party.
Vantine Roubanis
I've been having a great time with the campaign. Thank you for running it. It's a lot of work to take on!
Jessibel L. Aulamaxa
EDIT: Jessi should add the Juliac Signet ring to her profile.
Done. How much was it worth again? I'm pretty sure it was a lot more valuable than I initially thought. Might make more sense to just have a basic 5-gp version of it copied for Jessi's 'future alias scheme' and sell the platinum ring to be split amongst the party.
Kintargo GM
You didn't assess it, but for ease of reference, I'll just say that you get Laria to do it soon after you've cleared the Wasp's Nest.
She'd tell you that the ring's worth 250 gp to the average buyer, but possibly more to the interested collector.
Kintargo GM
I'll move us on late tomorrow morning (GMT-5) unless Nyxra posts before then.
Jessibel L. Aulamaxa
And...the Raven rolls snake eyes!
We're really bad at this whole 'combat' thing.
Kintargo GM
If all else fails, I do have a few ideas on how to handle things... But I'm holding off for now.
The Raven
Got interrupted before I could edit my post.
The Raven’s attack with Spike Punches goes up to +7 next level, so he’ll get more accurate soon. We just got unlucky like 4 turns in a row. I mean, my dude hit a 22 AC with a +3 attack. We did fine in all the previous combats, even the ones with the DR we weren’t prepared to face.
Kintargo GM
Yeah, this is pretty unusual. My rolls have been unusually good for hitting - both with the alligator and with the dire corby. I honestly didn't think she'd be able to hit him any more... yeesh.
Kintargo GM
If Vantine and Aisling don't post within a few hours, I'll bot them. I suspect that some people might be having power issues, so I don't want to rush us, but at the same time, I know that slowdowns like this can cause a slow death of PbPs.
Kintargo GM
No worries. I think the central US is having a lot of issues, but I'm glad you're not.
Uh, working weekend notwithstanding.
Vantine Roubanis
I’m 4 days without power now after losing it in the big ice storm. No idea when it will be back on. I’ll be back when I can. Bot me as needed.
Kintargo GM
I thought I saw you mentioning that elsewhere, Vantine. Will do.
Hope things get better for you soon.
Kintargo GM
I'm going to continue with the conversation (including botting Vantine's diplomacy roll), tomorrow, to give Aisling a chance to act.
Kintargo GM
Random interesting factoid: Before the Chelish Civil War, House Sarini ruled Ravounel as the Archducal family. However, since then, they've been "the Fools of Thrune," who are sent to various courts as mockery of their former prestige.
Since then, there haven't been any Archdukes in Ravounel, and that could be something that might change during the campaign.
Jessibel L. Aulamaxa
OK, need some clarification. According to the map, we're inside the cellar and all the alleged tengus are outside; it seems there's no way more than one or two of them could be positioned to fire through the doorway on us, especially if their spokesbird is standing in the way negotiating.
For now I'll just have Jessi unwisely escalate things a bit, rather than call her (apparent) bluff.
This is the sort of thing that can happen when you let a snotty teenaged girl with no Wis modifier be your lead negotiator. ;)
Kintargo GM
There's how I imagined it, sorry for being unclear.
Kintargo GM
So, a few ways that your prior activities have helped you with the start of the Rebellion - as Aisling and Nyxra silenced the agitators and the loyalists at the riot, you gain 3 supporters for each of those. You also got a supporter from Demibaron Vargo, whom Nyxra saved. Hence, rather than starting at 0 supporters, you start at 7.
Supporters are not members of the Silver Ravens, but rather the number of people who support the rebellion in a myriad variety of ways, even if it's just to offer food or a kind word to one of the teams you recruit.
Anyways, I've updated the sheets assuming you do accept the Fushi sisters, but that can change if your PCs have objections to them.
Jessibel L. Aulamaxa
Who wants to manage the Fushi Sisters team? Jessi wants to manage a team or two, but she's holding out for Street Performers or Freedom Fighters. I'd say Nyxra (since her diplomacy turned them) or maybe Aisling should manage the Fushis (unless Vantine wants to seduce them first). ;P The Raven leading a group of tengus also seems appropriate.
Jessi will be taking another level of bard...and this is the level where her Silver Balladeer powers will kick in. She's supposed to be switching alignments a bit here, but I'm not convinced that she's made a sufficient move toward Neutral Good yet in-game, so I may hold off on her gaining some of her new powers.
New spells will be read magic (so she can use scrolls easily) and saving finale.
It looks like we only get 1 Rebellion Action to start (at least until we get a Strategist officer). I'll suggest Recruit Supporters, since we're only 2 supporters away from getting our first boon (a free skill rank) and the ability to get a second action each week.
As for officer roles, Jessibel was a Demagogue in the last game she was in, but I'm open to changing if Vantine or another high-Charisma character wants it.
Kintargo GM
Level Up Instructions:
Despite what I said in the recruitment, the HP you gain at every level will be half your Hit Die+1.
Just so we're clear. xD
Also, it may be that some folks might object to having a murder an unkindness of potentially evil allies. (They're not evil, mind you. But their sister did murder a friend of Laria's, and she was evil, so there's reason to doubt.)
Aisling Talbot
Sorry for dropping, I powered through the week after not getting a break at the weekend and my brain turned to mush. Not as good an exucse as snowsorms in Texas but there you go. I will try not to drop again, and sorry to our GM who is being very paitient :)
EDIT it looks like i wouln'dt have had a lot to contribute anyway. OOC I can see the advantage of having some Tengu friends, but in character Aisling is going to be wary of people who made poor choices. And that's even without the whole Lawful character needing closure for Nan's murder :)
Kintargo GM
No worries - so long as you're taking care of yourself.
Jessibel L. Aulamaxa

Kintargo GM
Investing in stealth now, I see. Good plan, I think. Sneaking about will aid in your goals, overall. It does look like you've forgotten to change how many 1st level spells she can cast per day to 3, though.
Jessibel L. Aulamaxa
Yeah, I figured Perception and Stealth weren't important when she was just a 'theater bard' and not a rebel. Bumped up a few Knowledge skills as well to make her bardic knowledge a bit more effective.
Good catch on the spells per day; fixed.
************************************************************
Looking more closely at the officer roles, Jessibel (stat-wise) seems best fitted for Demagogue or Spymaster. I don't see someone as irresponsible as Jessi being the Silver Ravens' Sentinel, but if she were she'd give the following bonuses to resolve an event: +3 on a Loyalty check, +0 on a Security check, and +3 on a Secrecy check.
Which reminds me: We need to choose the focus of the rebellion from the three options I just listed (see page 21 of the Player's Guide). I vote for Secrecy (but could be talked into switching to Loyalty).
It looks like only Nyxra choose a campaign trait that affects the Silver Ravens organization process.
************************************************************
Lastly, I have a (half-baked) plan to deal with the croc (maybe even before we talk with Laria): We lure the croc out of the water and have Nyxra and the tengus fire a bunch of arrows at it from a safe distance. Story-wise, it'd give the Silver Ravens more of a reason to let their larcenous nature slide. All we need is some bait....
Kintargo GM
They are rogues - four of them, in fact, and sneak attacks would cut the thing down pretty fast if they didn't get focused down.
The Raven
I have the Raven and Alexius updated for level two. Took another level of Vigilante. Took the Lethal Grace Vigilante talent. I forgot the weapon finesse applies shield ACP to attacks made with finesse, so it's not as good of an upgrade as I'd hoped. Thankfully a darkwood shield is only 257 GP and has no ACP, so should be able to pick that up soon.
I'm sure the Raven can make use of a group of sneaky birbs...
Kintargo GM
Wait, it does? Oh, huh, so it does.
Yes, I think you'll be able to grab that, like, as soon as everyone's done with the Wasp's Nest stuff.
Kintargo GM
That being said, I am totally happy to hand wave you guys killing this thing, unless you really want to cut it to pieces. Especially if Laria comes down, which she will be doing soon.
Kintargo GM
If all four tengu get flanks, they do 4d4+4+3d6 +1d8, assuming they all hit the croc. Which is, let's say... not unlikely. Add in any damage you guys do, plus Laria when she hears more fighting...
Yeah, the alligator wouldn't last more than a few rounds.
Being surrounded by four rogues is no joking matter.
