Kiboko

"Kiboko knows the tongue of demons. It is spoken often amongst the Bekyar." The massive warrior spits on the ground.
Mvumbu honks.
| GM Hawthwile |
A gust of stale air hisses through the doorway like the breath of some massive beast held captive for countless eons. The Seekers watch as the concealed doorway sinks into the wall and slides to the side, revealing a low stone altar against the long-sealed chamber's far wall. A rose stone gorilla idol with yellow jade tusks and garnet-red eyes sits atop the altar amid a pile of small gems and ancient gold coins.
Before anyone can take a step into the small chamber, Fendel holds out his hand. Carefully the investigator points out the tell-tale signs of malign energy gathered around the idol, waiting for the touch of the unfaithful to strike!
It's a magical trap, but Fendel's Trap Spotter noticed it before anyone else could even make the check. XD
Above, the carved simian faces scowl down through the smoke at the invaders below. The jungle is quiet, any of the usual sounds of wildlife muffled in the smokey air.

Flyn carefully disrupts the ancient wards, releasing their energy into the stale air of the chamber. Tucking the idol into his pouch, the archer sweeps the coins into a different bag for ease of sorting back at the Lodge.
It was a feeblemind trap. Nasty stuff if it goes off on the wrong person.
Outside, Kiboko signals the rest of the group to follow him. The hunter follows the faint remains of footsteps and bent foliage to chart a path through the rain-drenched jungle to the west of the camp. A while later, the Seekers spot a large cliff choked with vines and plant growth. Fendel points out where the foliage hides a cave entrance at the foot of the cliff - as well as a pair of humans clad in rough hide skins standing watch, hidden behind the vines.
The cave entrance is about 100 ft away from your current position and the sentries do not seem to have noticed you yet. It has been about 30 minutes since defeating the devil in Keel's estate - please make sure your Active Effects column in the slides is accurate.

"Bekyar. Can we ambush them?"
Is there sufficient cover to enable a stealth approach, GM?
Kiboko refreshes his Heightened Awareness spell. Wand - will expend spell for +4 initiative if we enter combat in next 10 minutes.

"I would suggest Master Flyn and Fendel start shooting and when they arrive here we can deal with them together. What do you think?" she asks.
Suddenly her black scimitar grabs her attention and she looks at Mesh and rolls her eyes.
She looks at Fly and Fendel.
"Do you have blunt arrows as well? We do not know if they are bad people... or we just go there and talk? I could rhyme for them!!" Zaarah says with a strange grin.
Kiboko

Kiboko stifles a growl. "They are Bekyar! Demon-worshipping slavers." He hisses through his teeth.
"They deserve no mercy, and will receive none."

Flyn casts blend upon himself and then signals silently to the others that he’ll try to sneak up closer to this entrance, perhaps within about 30’...he’ll try to conceal himself as he moves, taking cover among the foliage, vines, and shadows when possible while keeping alert for traps or other foes...

Kiboko speaks softly and soothingly to Mvumbu: "Let us use the jungle, Mvumbu, like when we were young. Let us kill the Bekyar, like when we were young." The hunter casts a Reduce Animal spell upon the mighty hippo, shrinking her to the size that she was when the two first met in the Expanse.

As the four Pathfinders approach, Flyn and Fendel spot the sentries pointing at Mvumbu. One of them raises a spear, but the other shakes his head and gestures to the darkness behind the pair. The first nods slowly before both disappear into the cave behind them.
Since they only spotted Mvumbu, I was trying to figure out if they would think she's just native wildlife and not be alarmed. But then I remembered that:
- She's wearing armor
- She's wearing a cloak
- She's got a pair of gemstones whizzing around her head
So it made sense to me that they would be suspicious. XD
At this point we've got Flyn, Fendel, Kiboko, and Mvumbu around 30-40 ft away from the cave entrance, and Zaarah, Kramac, and Beak still back at 100 ft away.

Flyn takes off after Kiboko and Mvumbu, following about 10’ back, eyes glued to their target, the cave entrance...

Kramac directs beak forward, to strike the red cultist!
Attack, outflank, power attack, heroism: 1d20 + 19 + 4 - 3 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 19 + 4 - 3 + 2 = 38
Damage, sneak attack, power attack: 1d6 + 9 + 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 9 + (6) + 6 = 23
Kramac's Beak
|
Beak also bites the cultist!
Attack, Outflank, Power Attack: 1d20 + 15 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 15 + 4 - 2 = 33
Damage: 2d6 + 11 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 11 + 6 = 23

A pair of Flyn's arrows finishes off the landbound warrior, leaving two more for the howling man on the wall. Fendel finishes the job, proving his commitment to non-non-lethality in spite of his worries. Kiboko and Mvumbu stand ready below as Kramac and Beak bite and scratch at another man perched on the wall - though the pair can't quite surprise him enough to unleash their trademark flurry of attacks.
Botting Zaarah
Zaarah carefully flies further into the cave and tries to hex the closest warrior.
Dashed Black Will vs DC 22: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Falling damage: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5) = 10
Again the magus' victim tumbles to the ground, waking and staggering back to his feet with spear in hand. Above, Kramac's prey jabs back while his companions swing across the width of the cavern.
Beak Bodyguard vs AC 10: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30

Dashed Yellow Spring Attack Spear vs Kramac AC 37: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
Piercing damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
@Beak, Dashed Yellow provokes an AoO from you due to leaving a threaten square. Due to Paired Opportunist, this also provokes an AoO from Kramac even though Spring Attack would normally prevent that. Could you roll those in your next post?
Dashed Green Spring Attack Spear vs Kramac AC 35: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
Piercing damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
One lucky spear penetrates the canny fighter's formidable defenses and tastes blood. Not even Beak and Kramac's retaliatory strikes against the first swinger is enough to silence the cheers and shrieks of excitement from the remaining warriors.
