Shaan doesn't appreciate the creature's attention at all and once again tries to bludgeon it with the baton.
force baton, Get 'em: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 1 = 9
force dmg: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
But the storm rocking the ship has completely thrown off his timing. He glares out the windows in annoyance.
The Specialist
|
confused: 1d100 ⇒ 76 Attack nearest creature
The Specialist levels his huchket rifle at Ysh’yaal, confused. Hold it! Who is the enemy?
Huchket rifle (experimental prototype): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15Dmg (F&P): 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Sorry!

"It's a driftdead! Someone died badly out in hyperspace and this is the result," Prim warns, as everything finally falls into place. "Poor Yotto...she must've been feeling so much despair when she died...!"
Still, her sympathy for the tortured soul isn't enough to override her own desire to keep herself and her companions alive. But with no more star magic at her disposal she's left with little choice but to draw her pistol and attempt to provide harrying fire for Shaan.
"Hey! You leave him alone!"
Harrying Fire (AC 15): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
"Oh geeze...didn't we find another force baton?? We need to use it!"

Shaan, perhaps upset and being rent by the claws, misses his own return attack. The Specialist, confused by the undead's psychic screech fires at Ysh'yaal. But his experimental rifle's targeting system seems unaligned.
PRimrose tries to make the ghost keep its head down, but lacking a head it merely growls in frustration at her.
Status, bold may post
Ysh - init 11 - 0/10SP; 13/14HP;
Ale - init 4
The storm approaches.
Ghost - init 18; 23 damage
Shaan - init 10 ; 7/18SP; 4/5RP

Alejandro continues to point out where to shoot, though his teammates seem to be cracking a bit under the pressure, "We got this, take a deep breath and steel yourself. Focus, then fire!"
He points to Shaan fighting up close with the enemy, "That's just a small scratch, keep hacking!"
Move to use Get 'Em again, +1 Morale bonus to hit the ghost. Standard to use Inspiring Boost on Shaan, restoring 10 Stamina Points to him.

As it is the weekend, I'd prefer to avoid botting Ysh, but I will do so tomorrow if she has not got a post in.

Ysh pours more magical energy into the ghost.
MM full cast: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1, 4) + 3 = 12
It screams in pain as it lashes out at Shaan.
2attacks: 2d20 ⇒ (6, 19) = 25
ouch: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
The vessel itself rocks as if echoing the fury of the driftdead, and Shaan starts to feel its pain.

The Specialist - init ?8 ; 8/12SP; confused (1/2)

"Raaah! There's nothing here for you anymore! You need to move on!" Prim cries as she tries now to provide covering fire for Shaan, lest the driftdead tear him apart.
Covering Fire - Shaan (DC 15): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
She also mentally reviews which of her pockets she put the healing serum in...
______________
Not sure if Get 'Em applies to Covering/Harrying Fire or not but if it does, then Prim's roll should be a success this time.

Alejandro keeps his group motivation up and then fires his pistol with a crack of sound, "Gotta drop sometime, keep up the damage! Good work on the magic Ysh!"
Move to keep up Get 'Em (+1 morale to attack rolls), Standard to shoot the ghost.
Anchoring Semi-Auto Pistol vs. KAC + Get 'Em: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 18 for Magic/Piercing + W.S.: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The Specialist
|
The Specialist, no longer confused, turns his weapon on the driftdead monstrosity, briefly calibrating his huchket rifle to deal more damage to the thing, and fires!
Huchket rifle (experimental prototype): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 = 24 Dmg (F&P): 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

I think Alejandro's Inspiring Boost should have restored 10 SP to Shaan (leaving him at 17/18 SP), in which case the latest attack would leave Shaan at 8/18 SP, 20/20 HP. Or did I miss something?
Shaan retaliates against the creature with a wild swing of his force baton!
baton, get 'em: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 1 = 22
force dmg: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Under the accurate flurry of attacks, even the incorporeal ghost cannot last.
With a final, horrible scream, the essence vanishes, and the ship, as if echoing its death shudders horribly. That storm is all too close now...
Alejandro Carlos
|
Alejandro nods, "don't forget the body we just fought a ghost to get. Other than that, just the stuff in the lockbox there and all the stuff in the airlock. I say load it all up and git!"
He grabs one arm of the former ghost inhabited body and starts dragging.

The group high-tails it off the ship. As you depart, a second gun turret descends as if in some futile attempt to save the ship-which-is-about-to-be-reduced-to-atoms-by-a-cosmic-storm, from you nasty borders.
It hurts, but not enough to stop you getting back to your own ship.
Then, a quick boost away from the storm and into the Drift. Aboard the Pegasus you do notice that the shadows seem a little jumpy...
Well done everyone, I'll start writing up the Chronicles for you all.
Alejandro is out of tier, but everyone else was in tier?

"Yeesh...our little duel with the vesk ship was kinda fun, even though it did take up time, but the ghosts and the crazy turrets? Could've done without those," Prim huffs once they're finally safe back on the board the Pegasus and out of the reach of the storm.
"Heck of a tone shift from standing in line at a concert or chasing down a fugitive, that's for sure..."

Alejandro gives a knowing smile, "I've been in some pretty rough concert lines though, until the last couple fights there I'd say they were about the same. It was good working with you all, drinks on me back at station."
Thanks for the run GM and good work all y'all!

Once you make it back to Absalom Station, Zigvigix is extremely appreciative of the shred of hope that the retrieved data represents. The tale of the Struggle’s Scholar’s fate disturbs the Exo-Guardians faction leader. Zigvigix promises to deliver the remains or personal belongings of the Struggle’s Scholar’s crew to the Idari for proper last-rite ceremonies. The Society maintained active files on each of the crew members, and Zigvigix confirms that every member requested burial of their bodies or their final possessions returned to the Idari—even the android, Blue Sky-101.
Zigvigix then adds "I will send the damaged data to the Dataphiles in the hopes that Historia-7, might be able to parse the information and recover any word about the fate of Sangoro’s Bulwark."
“This is the first shred of truly good news that the Exo-Guardians have had in a long time! My many thanks for all you have done in securing this important data. Now, there is another important matter I wanted to bring up."
“Prior to the Scoured Stars incident, I was part of a group of loyal friends, like the team you’re all a part of. Right before that dark event, I bought some tickets for my friends and me to a major upcoming concert. It was going to be our big outing—a capstone to all our missions together. Now, all my friends are trapped or lost in the Scoured Stars, and who knows how long it will take before we find out what happened there. The concert is coming up in a few months, and I wanted to extend an invitation. No promises or anything; you might be on assignment, and field missions take priority. If you are free, though, I would be honored if you would join me at this concert. Think of it as a remembrance for my lost comrades and a celebration of a new generation’s camaraderie."
“Oh! I just realized that I should invite Historia-7 too! Okay, well, thanks again. I should get going!”
Thank you all very much for playing. Chronicles are linked above. Please let me know if they are okay, or if a change needs to be made.
