Garren Teldas
Garren returns Seamus comment with a genuinely quizzical look. "Useful, that."
After he finishes stringing his bow, Garren turns to Seamus. "I know you've got magic, but maybe you go first, since you've got scale, and I've got this," he says, gesturing to his well-worn cuirass.
I'm all for a standard marching order.
Matias Longren
Matias taps the butt of his longspear on the ground. "I'll guard yer rears, fellas. I need a bit o' space to swing this round anyway."
Depending on if we're forming up single file or double lines, Matias can be anywhere behind the frontline. His AC is not high enough to be there yet.
Azaersi - Azi
Azi chuckles at Shane's description of himself as he hooks his axe to the notch on his back and takes out his shortbow. He knocks an arrow and readies a pull-back as he scans the tower's exterior.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 if needed
GM, I have 'View Only' privileges for maps. Should we request access or did you want to adjust the 'Share' features.
GM PDXCook
I have moved all of you onto the map. You don't have access to move anything at this point. Remember that I am trying new with the map to see how it works out. Use the grid coordinates to tell me where you move and I will get you your avatar there.
You stand before the tower. All is quiet. You see two doorways on the ground floor and can see two doors on the floor above that have become exposed with the collapse of the lower part fo the tower.
Seamus Passeri
Stating the obvious. "We may as well check the first floor, see if we can avoid climbing those rocks." Seamus points toward the left door, asking Avi, "Shall we start with the left door? I will keep my spear illuminated so we have some light. Just remember, were not as quick as you ok?" As soon as the half-orc barbarian is ready Seamus will follow him closely into the first floor.
Seamus will stay in order, once Azi moves he will go in after him.
Azaersi - Azi
Not finding danger in his search, Azi stows his bow and grabs his axe. Nodding to Seamus in agreement, the Barbarian makes his way to a lower-floor opening and peers inside. With every step closer, Azi looks in all directions and focuses on listening for anything coming from inside or on top of the tower.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Moving to K-11
Matias Longren
Matias will jump a little to the south, N 12
GM PDXCook
Rubble fills this room. it looks like you can crawl over the top of the rubble and reach another doorway but there are only a couple feet of clearance to do so.
Azaersi - Azi
Azi turns to Seamus and nods, "Wouldn't hurt to have a look before we go in."
After another glance around, Azi moves to the other first floor entrance and peers in.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
moving to K-7
Seamus Passeri
Following Azi, "If we can get into the area without crawling it may be worth it.' stopping behind Azi Seamus holds his spear ready.
moving to L-7 Since we have a marching order, if the first couple of people identify that they are moving, do you still want all of use to acknowledge our new position before we continue?
GM PDXCook
The first thing you notice that this room is covered in webs.
The second thing is that two globs of webbing are headed your way.
Web 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Web 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
The party sees webs shoot from the doorway and engulf Azaersi-Azi.
Azaersi is gains entangled condition. An entangled creature can escape with a successful Escape Artist check or burst the web with a Strength check. Both are standard actions with a DC13. Attempts to burst a web by those caught in it take a –4 penalty.
Shane Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Azaersi-Azi Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Seamus Init: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Matias Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Garren Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Spider Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Everyone but Garren my now react.
Azaersi - Azi
Strength: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 4 = 9
Azi grunts as the webbing entraps him. He grunts and challenges the webbing with guttural bellows. His arms and chest bulge, but he cannot seem to break through and release himself.
GM PDXCook
The spiders are in the back of the room. Azaersi-Azi is blocking the door. Seamus you moved up just as Azaersi-Azi got hit.
Seamus Passeri
What the blazes?' Seeing AZi struck with what looks like spiderwebs, Seamus freezes for a moment, 'He needs help to get loose.' Realizing Azi might need help, holding his longspear in his left hand, Seamus reaches up and tries to pull Azi out of the doorway with his right.
Strength aid another?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Matias Longren
Matias rushes up to the encased Azi and, reaching his fingers through the webbing, speaks a word of guidance.
Moving to L8, I think it is. Casting Guidance on Azi to give +1 to break out of the web.
GM PDXCook
As the group scrambles to help Azaersi-Azi one of the spiders rushes forward to attack.
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
It seems to be distracted by the number of creatures it encounters.
Garren is up and then the rest of the party can go.
Garren Teldas
Angry, and a bit red in the face from being caught off-guard, Garren draws his sword as he runs up to attept to cut Azi free, though his efforts don't seem to bear fruit.
Strength Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
GM PDXCook
Seamus pulls a handful of web off of his companion. It seems to be enough to allow him to move freely.
The webs only entangled Azaersi-Azi and not the area around him. Now free of the entanglement he can act freely.
Azaersi - Azi
Azi feels the webbing start to rip away with the aid of his squadmates. With a final grunt, his arms come free and he glares down the arachnid. He swings his axe, but there is still too much webbing around his elbow, throwing off his attack.
Using Power Attack
Axe Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 - 1 = 51d12 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 3 = 14
yuck! Boooo
Matias Longren
Matias steps to the side and pokes his spear through the gap between Azi and the doorway.
5ft step to K8...so much cover
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
GM PDXCook
The spider flinches from the damage but continues to attack Azaersi-Azi.
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
The fangs sink into its target and poison begins to course through Azaersi-Azi's veins.
Fort Save DC 14 or Strength Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Seamus and Azaersi-Azi are up
Seamus Passeri
Seeing the spider bite Azi, he tells his friend, "You shouldn't stand in the doorway, hit the thing and back up!" he then thrusts his longspear at the spider, missing, he follows his own advice moving back a step.
attack: Longspear, PA, 5 ft step to N-7
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 for damage: 1d8 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 3 = 11
Azaersi - Azi
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Azi feels a burning run through his body from the poison. He growls in pain and he begins to lose control. Flexing his muscles and tearing off the loose strands of webbing, he lets out a guttural roar and lashes out at the spider with his axe.
In his frenzied state, Azi does not acknowledge the spider he attacked as he eyes up the other arachnid.
enters rage
Axe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 171d12 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
If this takes out the spider, and Azi can move passed it, he'll go to J-3 roaring in a complete, joyous, frenzied rage.
GM PDXCook
Azaersi-Azi crushes the spider and races into the room.
The rest of the party can now act
Matias Longren
Encouraged by Azi's brutal attack, Matias hurries after him and stabs at the other spider.
Moves to K4
Longspear 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Damage
Garren Teldas
"Getting a bead on it!" Says Garren as he sheathes his sword and draws his bow, running behind Shane to get a good view of the giant spider.
Move action to get there and stow sword, standard to draw bow.
GM PDXCook
Matias skewers the spider but not enough to finish it off.
The spider attacks Azaersi-Azi and sinks his fangs into him.
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Fort Save DC14 or Strength Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Seamus rushed to cover the other doorways while the battle rages behind him. It is too dark for him to see more than a couple of feet into the room.
Azaersi-Azi and Matias can now post. If they don't kill it we will go to Shane and Garren.
Azaersi - Azi
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Axe Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 131d12 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Azi, in his fit of rage, does not feel the spider dig its fangs into him as he continues to swing his axe.
Seamus Passeri
Seamus rushed to cover the other doorways while the battle rages behind him. It is too dark for him to see more than a couple of feet into the room.
"I have a flint and steel, but I don't carry torches.' He whispers a word and the tip of his spear illuminates. "Not when I can do that."
don't know if the description of seeing into the next room was for information or cinematic, if it matters Seamus had cast light on the spear.
Matias Longren
Matias jabs forward with his longspear again.
Longspear 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 damage
GM PDXCook
Azaersi-Azi rages at the spider but the bite seems to have affected his aim that he just misses the creature. Matias pins the beast to the ground with his spear almost killing it. A blast of energy from Shane stills the spider.
Okay Seamus I forgot about the light spell but I was just trying to make it creeper in there for you. LOL
Seamus thrust his spear in the next from and sees that nothing is moving. There is a door to the left.
Azaersi - Azi
Azi's movement slows when he realizes that the spider is dead. His arm goes slack, dropping his axe to his side. Breathing heavy, his mighty chest heaving, he looks around at his companions and the carnage.
Azaersi - Azi
"I'll be alright. Just need a moment to catch my breath," Azi states, but it is clear from his wounds that the spiders got him pretty good.
