Ow... Sso. They are not pulling their punchess, ass we are ssuppossed to. Sso how deep doess thiss treachery go? Eka's eyes gleam with righteous anger as she takes a step back, Lays Hands on herself, and attacks the iron-clad wayang who hit her.

Damage 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

Sorry for putting you at risk like this. One more time.
Okaze lashes out with his training blade before commanding Lucentis to move away from the melee.

Eka is up!
Eka
|
Savagely growling, Eka takes another step back and again swings her wooden bardiche at the iron clad wayang. "AAARRRRGGGHHH! Payback!"
wooden bardiche: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 211d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
She roars defiantly, like a wild beast claiming a kill. Thiss iss actually kind of fun. Exssept for the part where they're actually trying to kill uss, but we're not ssuppossed to try to kill them. That makess me *really* want to...end thiss quickly sso we can find out what'ss going on!
| GM Elberion |
The iron-helmet wearer goes down under a heavy blow that makes his helmet ring like a bell.

Miseria Extasis
|
Miseria tries to knock out the last wayang.
short sword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 71d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Yulau
|
Seeing the last enemy surrounded, Yulau withdraws to the south end of the barrier she was standing on. ”Could you all knock him out? I’m feeling a bit weak,” she groaned.
Could someone please move me to the very south end of the barrier? Thanks.
Okaze Mystoc
|
"You got it!" Okaze whoops as he charges in to finish the fight.
Longsword Charge: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
| GM Elberion |
And Okaze does finish the fight. The last wayang is knocked out.
More to follow but feel free to respond.
Yulau
|
Yulau hops off the barrier and tries to smile for the crowd. Once she made her way off the stage, she finds the organizers. ”Who was responsible for that? They were trying to hurt us for real! Look at the blood all over me...and it’s my blood,” she roars.
Miseria Extasis
|
"Now it wasn't really that bad was it? After all, a little pain, a little blood makes for an interesting time."
Miseria casts a spell and Yulau's wounds start to close, replaced by scars.
Scarify: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 3) + 2 = 10 (Yulau now has 1 lethal damage and 10 non-lethal)
Miseria then pulls out a wand and deals with more of the damage.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 (Yulau now has 1 nonlethal damage)
Misera then turns the wand on herself.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 (fully healed)
Okaze Mystoc
|
Okaze checks on Lucentis before heading after Yulau.
"Wait for us! You are injured and we may want to be a little more cautious if there are more who are out for our blood!" he calls after her but slows down when he sees Miseria healing her.
Eka
|
Eka shoulders her bardiche and storms like a thundercloud after Yulau, muttering: "I, too, want answers for this betrayal of trust!"
| GM Elberion |
Before you can even get off the arena floor, the mayor and Harjandi rush over. Flustered, Harjandi speaks first, "I am so sorry. I do not understand. How could they...?"
The mayor turns to guards beside him, "Take them to the infirmary" he gestures to the wayang champions, "And arrest them the moment they come round."
Hanjandi continues, "We simply could not interrupt the ritual, otherwise we would have stopped them immediately! I don't understand this. We will interrogate the champions when they are better."
She is clearly distressed, "I have known some of these people for years. Raveneki over there was a champion last year and never drew blood!"
The audience are filing out solemnly, it is hard to tell if this is wayang reserve or they recognise that something has gone wrong.
The mayor bows to you all, "Our sincerest apologies. Perhaps these gifts will soften your feelings, alongside my sincere apology."
He hands you four potions, all clearly marked.
They are two potions of CLW, one of mage armor and one of remove fear.
"My apologies. This was not correct behaviour."
Harjandi looks at you pleadingly, "Please, you must complete the ritual. It is vital." She throws up her arms, "At least the fighting is over. A debate should be safe enough. It begins in four hours time."
| GM Elberion |
Harjandi turns to Yulau, ”Have you been talking to those ridiculous younglings? You sound-“
She pauses, pulls on the edge of her gown, ”I apologise. You are not of the wayang. You cannot know.”
She looks seriously at you all, takes a calming breath, ”This has happened every year since my people arrived on Golarion. Every year. No matter what.” She shakes her head frustratedly, ”Some people say it’s just a dusty old relic but the stories are clear: terrible things will happen if the ritual is not completed. Terrible things from there.”
| GM Elberion |
The mayor chips in, ”And you people, you pathfinders, swore that you would play your part. That we could rely on you.”
| GM Elberion |
He smiles, it seems, ”And anyway, none of you were wounded for long.”
He slaps his hands together in satisfaction, ”And you played your parts magnificently, I must say. Well done. Well done indeed.”
Lydia Stillbourne
|
Ow, ninja'd by the DM's reply.
"Rituals...have reasons for being," Says Lydia slowly and awkwardly as she tries to sort through everything that is and has been going on around her.
Typical, she thinks as she looks over the 'offerings'. It's a good thing -she- wasn't hurt. From what she knew of the Wayang, part of her had been hoping they'd actually be the sort to cater to both sides of the veil.
"I don't know about any of you, but I...felt something in there," She continues. She then turns to the mayor with that sort of 'this feels like your job' expression every seasoned clerk inevitably learns. "This is a bit more than just some cheery hats-and-pies festival, isn't it?"
Eka
|
Eka accepts the potion of remove fear, thinking back to a past experience, but the forbidding glower remains on her face beneath the mask. She follows up Lydia's question with a menacing growl: "Yess! Tell uss everything!"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
It should be noted that intimidating glares don't translate well when they're hidden under a mask.
Yulau
|
Yulau takes the mage armor potion. ”Gotta be ready to defend myself apparently,” she mumbles.
”What else do we need to know....keeping in mind we aren’t wayang. Give us all the details and any surprises we might face.”
Miseria Extasis
|
"Toughen up, everyone. So things got a bit rough. Just think Yulau, those pretty new scars are just one more thing to remember this day by. Now how about we finish this ritual and then we can discuss what went wrong."
Okaze Mystoc
|
"There is certainly power in the ritual...I could feel the person I was representing. I am curious as to what she could not know since she is not Wayang. I am and want to learn." Okaze adds in to the conversation.
He looks to the mayor and Harjandi.
"The ritual is important but my knowledge to gain may be even more important to me. That is why I will follow through with it even if there are those that want to wound us. I will protect my allies."
| GM Elberion |
The mayor smiles, "This is the most ancient tradition of my people."
He pauses, perhaps searching for the right words, and Harjandi butts in, "Not everyone originates on Golarion. The elves came from Castrovel; the gnomes from the First World..."
The mayor takes over, "Yes, yes, and when we came from the Land of Shadows, this was our first ritual. That's what the old stories say. Yes."
She takes over, "The rites of Abbinthurtaa represent our inner struggles. Between the old world and the new."
He weaves back in, "And they keep the crater quiet, so they say."
Lydia Stillbourne
|
"A-ha. THAT," Lydia responds, pouncing like a predator on this last bit of information. "Please tell us more about this crater."
| GM Elberion |
Harjandi speaks up, "A demon lives in the crater and-"
The mayor interrrupts, "And a witch, and a giant snake, and a giant human with the head of a bull, and a hundred other things, they say."
Lydia Stillbourne
|
"A group like that...are you certain they're not just adventurers?" Lydia asks dryly.
Eka
|
Eka brushes over Lydia's snarky comment, despite how close to the mark it may be. "HOW doess thiss ritual keep the crater quiet, and what will happen if it failss?"
| GM Elberion |
Harjandi shrugs, "The ritual has been repeated for millenia. Without fail. That's all we know."
Mayor Farzhan nods, "Yes, don't go listening to any hotheads. Our ancestors knew things. I'm sure."
Eka
|
Glowering behind her mask, Eka's breath seethes loudly through her nostrils. Hmph. "Do thiss or rissk myssteriouss peril." Well, that'ss on par with many of the Ssociety'ss misssionss. Her muscles ripple as she rises to her full height. "But iss there pressedent for what happened jusst now in the arena? And if not, perhapss you should tell uss more of what to exsspect for the nexsst trialss."
| GM Elberion |
Harjandi nods, "The key thing is that the outsiders argued to isolation, for keeping non-wayang out."
The mayor helps her out, "That is what you are debating, whether non-wayang have a place in Inahiyi."
"There will be a team of four debaters opposing you. That will be me," Harjandi gestures to herself, "Mayor Farzhan here, Unelda and our debate leader, Eynemb."
"Of course," The mayor continues, "As history records clearly, and as tradition dictates, you will put on a good show but will ultimately lose the debate."
"Oh, yes."
Slides 7, 8 & 9 contain the rules for the verbal duels ahead.
You have four hours until the debate. You can do what you like. That is enough time to get a lot done. What would everyone like to do with their four hours, pathfinders?
I'm not trying to close down your conversation with Harjandi and Farzhan, just getting organised.
Okaze Mystoc
|
"I have much at stake in this debate so I will give it my all. Tradition may decide the outcome but our effort may soften some views." Okaze says as they depart.
"We have some time to prepare. I think I would like to talk to as many people as I can on their views about outsiders. It may make for better arguments or at least give us perspective on why they would be against it." he says to the group seeing if anyone would like to join.
Yulau
|
Yulau wasn’t about to let the group split up after the attack earlier. ”We all stay together. I’m fine with speaking with more of the townsfolk, but I don’t want any of us out by themselves. No telling what might happen to us.”
