(Assuming the fire won’t effect Niklaas this round either, I’ll take his turn for the sake of expediency…)

“AY! BOOBOO!” Niklaas yells at Tiny’s bear over the roar of the encroaching flames, “YA KNOW THE FLANK COMAND?! ‘CAUSE IF NOT, IT’S YER LUCKY DAY ‘CAUSE I’M GONNA TEACH YA! WATCH CLOSE NOW!”

With that, Niklaas rolls forward, hacking through the crazy plant overgrowth to flank the last of the weed midgets with the bear.

Hissing a quick, “Shirley, don’t fail me now!” Niklaas makes two thrusts at the leshy.
(Advance, attack, attack the remaining weed leshy with flanking.)

(If those attacks kill the other leshy, I’ll use Niklaas’ “You’re Next” reaction again on the last plum leshy, turning to the creature and hissing a mock, “Awwww... Da widdle fwuit basket’s awl awone... Heh heh heh... Don’t worry kid, I’ll send ya ta meet yer little friends soon enough...” )

Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

Hell's Vengeance - Slides

Niklaas scares the Hogweed Leshy really really good! Critical success!

Armagile finds the leshy a bit difficult to push, and his bear can't quite bite it.

Nikebei (adjusted turn) gets closer to Fester and heals him. I assume you meant with Soothe? amount: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Lux heals Ozul, but Ozul also finds it difficult to bite the plant in any meaningful way.

Fester finishes healing himself, burns a bit, but the sap finally begins to harden on his skin, no longer burning.

The fire spreads. (and deals damage to those adjacent)

Armagile, Misha, and the blue leshy find themselves burning a bit.

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Armagile basic reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Misha basic reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Hogweed basic reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

All take full

The fire then spreads. This is getting out of hand. 3 squares.

3d22 ⇒ (1, 12, 16) = 29 Sigh.

The pine needles at Armagile's feet quickly find themselves ablaze.

Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7
Armagile basic reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 Saved for half!

Niklaas swipes at the remaining hogweed leshy, with a quick set of stabs. With the final strike, the leshy rings out an echoing CRACK as it explodes in violent energy.

Ozul fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Misha fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Armagile fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Niklaas fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Armagile is unaffected. Ozul and Niklaas take half. Misha takes full

Staring through the burst, Niklaas turns menacingly to the remaining leshy. It's terrified!

Poison damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

AND NOW FOR THE LESHY!

The final plum leshy looks tremendously angry (and scared) as it throws its rotten fruit to the one that killed its friend.

Plum to Niklaas: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 - 1 = 10
Plum to Niklaas: 1d20 + 8 - 5 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 8 - 5 - 1 = 14
Plum to Niklaas: 1d20 + 8 - 10 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 8 - 10 - 1 = 4

But Niklaas dodges out of the way of the plums.

Fester punches his leg a few times to get the blood flowing in his numb extremities as he runs around the remaining leshy keep his distance. Pulling out two arrows, he attempts to level the bow with the Leshy's small frame. "You know, I'm quite the accomplished archer! I've slain countless beasts with my keen eye and piercing bolts!" Lux hustles in as quickly as she can to aid in combating the fire. "On my way, Nikebei." She figures the others will deal with the remaining Leshy and she'll deal with the stuff she actually knows. Leaving Ozul to fend for himself for a while, Lux grabs some wet moss and stuffs it on the burning growth.

Niklaas grinned at the sight of Tiny’s bear companion moving to engage the last pile o’ plant matter. D@&$ if I ain’t gonna ‘ave ta give ol’ BooBoo a treat tha way this fight’s goin’...

Sprinting forward, leaping over roots, and rolling past the last plant monster and thick brush surrounding it, Niklaas skid to a halt behind the mofo; rasping, “Nuthin’ per-sa-nell kid - BUT IT’S TIME TA FINISH THIS, YA PILE A PUKE!”

Spinning on his heel, Niklaas followed up his statement with two swift strikes of Shirley.

Uh oh. Map seems to have moved a bit. I think I put it back right.

Misha approaches the Leshy. Armagile puts out both the fires near him.

Fester launches two arrows at the leshy, one of 'em just barely scratches the leshy as it flies by backwards.

Lux moves (redirected) to the fire, but can't quite put it out; instead, she fans the flames and embers fly to the other side of the fire, setting more of the forest ablaze.

The fire damages Lux.

Lux reflex: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 - 1 = 9
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

2d16 ⇒ (14, 11) = 25

"CAREFUL!" shouts an annoyed Jaldan as she smothers the flames next to Lux. "The needles here are exceptionally light. If you're going to fan, try to keep the wind soft!"

Just then, Niklaas cackles a bit as he connects with the leshy. The pebble-like eyes of the leshy roll off of its body and onto the floor as it explodes in a shower of guts.

Still in initiative because the fire affects things later.

Lux feels miserable, with her face full of soot and her throat still itching from the rotten plum. Still, she wants to be bold and face this threat as best she can. She grits her teeth, gives Fester a very odd look and shakes her head at Niklaas's question. "Sorry, Nik. I missed it. This fire is... just so volatile. This doesn't even feel natural."

Despite the danger of another flare-up, Lux steps up to the fire and does her best to smother it. Gently, as Jalden instructed her.

Alright. We've got people quite proficient in survival so I'm calling the fight here. Well deserved guys.

That was a tough one. Hero point to Niklaas as MVP there at the end with those Leshys. A hero point also to Lux as MVP with the flames.

Jaldan is extatic when the flames are taken care of. Her eyes light up as she individually hugs each and every pathfinder (That's written in, by the way) who comes close to her. She promises to make you honorary Redpines upon getting to the camp (this is not a thing she actually has the ability to do).

After the encounter with the leshys, Jaldan sets a hard pace for the camp, determined to get home before anything else goes wrong, constantly cursing the name of some dude named Murphy. The Pathfinders shamble into the encampment just as the Redpine centaurs are setting up for the night.

The Redpine camp is currently located at a bend in a small forest stream. Hides stretch from branch to branch, making for a cluster of oddly shaped but surprisingly large dwellings. A few trenches have been dug to reroute part of the stream and form a kind of moat or firebreak around the camp, and several decorated banners hang from spears driven into the ground. The smell of roasting meat wafts over the camp, and the Pathfinders notice several rabbits cooking over a fire.

Jaldan hails a sentry as she arrives. The Pathfinders are promptly welcomed into the camp, allotted a patch of ground, and given roast rabbit and wild greens on a plate. Jaldan quickly plucks one of the rabbit legs from the plate and trots off to report to the camp's leaders.

About an hour later, after you all manage to set up your tents and bedrolls, the Pathfinders are approached by a golden-eyed lizardfolk with coppery scales. Character Profiles updated in slides. "Stars move more easily than minds." The lizardfolk observes to no one in particular, sitting down on a log. "I am Urwal" he says, keeping his gaze fixed to the horizon.

"Jaldan spoke to us. You have seen Finadar's problem in flower and flesh. Tell me what you have seen."

I've seen it, Niklaas. Appreciate your enthusiasm
Armagile calm hisnbreath after all foes are down and no fire threat exists around. The hunter takes some moments to find and collect interesting parts of those corrupted leshy's. Maybe later they will inspect it closer.
After some healing and drinking water, Armagile accept Jaldan hugs after short doibts. Thereafter he ready to follow Jaldan and the rest party.

***
Upon arriving to Respond camp, Armagile takes care about Misha and Ozul (if he is willing) using Medicine and clear place. The hunter is glad to meet Urwal... Later, after listening Niklaas explanations he will add some words to this report, adding corrupted leshy's parts as a clue.
I can just guess who is BooBoo and who is Brickface between us. Anyway. Plants act not natural. Pollution, forest fire and aggressive mood is not what I usually expect from leshy's and similar life. I suppose there is a source of corruption or something magic instability. Fey, demons, or some another sort of disturbance made this effect, I am sure. We need to follow tracks of this troubles and hint down the source.

(Darn it. I’m so used to face-to-fave that it didn’t occur to me I could describe what Niklaas did up to the camp. I’ll just give a bit of a summary, because I love this kind of stuff.

After slaying the last of the irate plant matters, Niklaas would’ve grinned at Armagile’s recognition - then limped over to begrudgingly help put out the accursed forest fire (Survival +5, so he could’ve helped some at least).

When Jaldan hugged him, Niklaas would’ve thrown his hands up in protest, “AY! AY! I DIDN’T TOUCH ‘ER! SHE TOUCHED ME! COMPLETELY PLUTONOMICAL! MUTUAL CONCENT! MUCHWALCONCEPT!” - but afterwards he would’ve whispered to Jaldan, “If ya REALLY wanna thank me, find me again when yer tha equivalent a’ 18 in human yearz. I’ll show ya a good time…”

Giving her a creepy wink and the ‘scry me’ sign with one hand, he’d leave it at that.

Niklaas would’ve also been surprisingly nice to Armagile’s bear throughout the rest of the journey, - patting her on the head (if allowed) and rasping to her in baby speak, “Who’s a good widdle murda’ bear flankin’ buddy? YOU ARE! YOU ARE!” And to Armagile, he’d say, “Ya raised BooBoo right, Tiny! She can rip out a plant’s throat with tha best of ‘em!”

When the party got back to the centaurs’ camp, Niklaas would’ve first demanded his honorary membership, asked about tribe perks - “Do we own any casinos?! I alwayz wanted ta own one a’ them!” Then he would’ve immediately forgotten about all that at the sight of food. Niklaas would’ve gladly taken the plate offered to him and started horfin’ it down in the crudest way possible, saying things like - “MAN! For a bunch of tree-huggin’ naycha wierdos, you pony-men can cook! This grub ain’t half bad!”
Then he would’ve said that last part to Urwal… and now we return to the present… Thank you for your patience.)

The halfling bows to his comrades.

"Then the there are none braver than Armagile and his companion Misha or Lux and his companion Ozul, despite the odds they both took on their foes head on and with their woodland craft, were able to help Jaldan subdue the fire. Without their magics and skills all would have been lost." he bows in the direction of the two druids. "My friends are sure to uncover any blight on the forest, so close are they to the natural world."

Then bowing to Urwal, Nikebei continues, "In my modest way, I was able assist my friends, though I am not as mighty as they." A smile crosses Nikebei's face, as he pauses to see Urwal's reaction. "Though if we are to be successful in helping you and the forest, we shall need to know all that you have found out about the cause and cure for this ill?"

Ouch, that's really bad luck, Nikebei.

When the fires is finally under control, Lux coughs a few times and leans against a tree to clear the foul taste of rotten plum from her throat. She takes stock of the state of her clothes and takes a few swigs of water. "Man, my food is going to taste like ashes for days!" She coughs again, for good measure. As she's healed by Nikebei, Lux calls Ozul to her side and uses a small bit of magic to heal hit wounds.

Cast Heal animal focus spell to heal Ozul for 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12.

Lux sheepishly accepts Jaldan's embrace, made even more awkward by her smaller stature. "Well, geeh... We did what we could?" She straightens herself and tries to regain some composure. "It was really worrying, though, seeing the leshies act like that. It seems like they spoke Abyssal?"

--

Lux had been dreading the meeting with Urwal. She really respects the Iruxi, but is intimidated by his mannerism as well. She lets many of the others talk first, then stumbles upon her words. "Well, it's pretty bad. I think... It's... The leshies attacked us, which isn't normal. And they were rotten, and exploded in fire. Which is even worse. And I've never seen a forest catch fire so quickly." She's just done talking when she realizes she's forgotten the most important thing. "Oh, and they spoke Abyssal! They were really intent about it, as well."

Hell's Vengeance - Slides

"That sounds unpleasant," is all Urwal responds with, until Lux mentions that they spoke Abyssal, at which point he finally makes eye contact with Lux in specific.

"Abyssal? Hmm." Urwal appears deep in thought for a few moments.

“Let me tell you a story.” Urwal says, changing the subject abruptly. “North of here, there is a valley. Dragons died there, and their bones linger. For centuries, goblins dwelled among the bones. They made rituals of fire and worship. Such a life is not for me, but the goblins were happy.”

“Beneath the dragons’ graves lay a monolith. I have heard tale of it. Carven rock, six handspans tall, covered in the markings of the one-eyed shapers. For years past number, the stone slumbered, until even the stars changed above it.

“Then, as the Sun blessed the Newlyweds, the goblins’ rituals awoke the stone. It remembered its shapers. It remembered its purpose. And it remembered its powers. It called living fire into the dragons’ bones. Finadar burned. Pathfinders came to help. The stone was found, broken. All seemed well.

“But now the spirits grow strange and furious. Cenenviel and Kaana seek to guard their peoples’ lives. This is well. But I think it wise that someone seek out that stone. The stars agree.” Urwal is quiet for a long moment, and then nods briskly. “This is an auspicious night. The Dreamer is bright. Walk the camp, see where you may be of aid. Brighten the name of the Pathfinders.

“You will leave in the morning. For the valley. For the stone.”

Urwal is open to questions at this point. As for helping people you will need to walk around the camp. You can help Cenenviel (a male druid pouring over texts in a tent), Jaldan, or Kaana Korag the Chieftan.

Fester is down to help with the Druid, he sounds like he could use a hand.

After dazedly nursing his concussion for most of the trip to camp, Fester listens to the others's tales of the occurance in a light daze, only ever really adding a nod or a gesture to the conversation. It becomes quickly apparent to anyone watching that the elf is not quite all there. Which I'm assuming goes double for his literal faction head that we are talking to who I completely forgot was the faction head until finishing the first draft of this post. Upon hearing the suggestion to explore the camp and help out the locals, Fester begrudgingly gets up to head to the druid's tent. I guess I could use the air, and everyone in immediate company seems to be wary of my storytelling anyways. May as well find a fresh audience.

As he approaches the tent, the elf quickly takes a swig from his canteen before pouring some of its contents into his hand and slapping himself with the water. After a few blinks, he eyes the canteen again before dumping the rest of its contents on his face. After wiping the excess moisture off of his face with his sleeve, the elf appears satisfied and begins to open the tent flaps. Fester begins speaking up as soon as he enters, taking no stock of its contents.

"Hail! I am Sir Fester, representing the Pathfinder Society! I have come to offer our services to the beleaguered people of this handsome town of coughiobariahem. I am adequately-versed in mostly all things, both natural and un, and am eager to provide assistance through any means deemed necessary. At Lux’s mention of ‘Abyssal,’ Niklaas raises an eyebrow - and conpletely ignoring everything Urwal says after that, he adds, “Abyssal, huh? So, we talkin’ demons ‘ere? Like with tha’ horns an’ tha fangs an’ tha teeth an’ tha claws that rip out yer souls an’ use ‘em like poker chips at a low-stakes game? Ya know tha ones… We gonna ‘ave ta fight THOSE things AS WELL AS the explodin’ plant peoplez?”

(That was actually a question directed at Urwal. Are we supposed to expect demons? But also, Niklaas would either hang out with Jaldan - ‘cause she curses; or if the chief’s a very attractive female that’s of an already mature age, he might go check her out instead - and demand the tribal membership he was promised…)

Lux is about to answer Niklaas when she understands that the question wasn't really directed to her, and quickly shuts her mouth. She nods eagerly at Urwal's lecture, gesturing with her hands while he talks to reference what she knows of the constellations in the Cosmic caravan. She hadn't heard the details about the previous Pathfinders' adventures in these woods, but it seems that team left quite some unfinished business. "Are the goblins still there?" His reference to brightening the Pathfinders' name pops a question in her head. "Do people here blame the Pathfinders for what's happening?"

When Urwal sends them into the camp, Lux takes a deep breath and finds directions to the chieftain. She's a bit unsteady on her legs as she presents herself and finds hot stains in her neck, but she makes a good effort. "Hello, good chieftain Kaana Korag. I am Lux Fairforge - Lucretia really," she adds looking like she's eaten something sour, "and I hope that we Pathfinders can set right what's been wrong with the forest. Because, err... I gather it was sort-of our fault to begin with...? Is there anything else we can do here to help? Around the camp,
mean."

Nikebei listens to the discussions on horned creatures and languages, but it really doesn't interest him so much. Especially the teeth and claws part, the halfling slinks off into the camp, under the watchful eye of Urwal, who obviously hasn't fallen for his charlatan ways, a little distrustful after their first encounter.

The halfling moves towards the rabbit's cooking over a fire, the grease running down the flesh and bursting into flames as it hits the fire pit. The smell so lovely to a halfling's nose and more so to his stomach. He speaks for. a short while to the cook, getting and extra leg to gnaw on, suck in the grease and fat, before ripping the tasty flesh from the bone.

Wiping away the evidence with his sleeve, Nikebei takes his badly burnt and bruised body limping across to Kaana Korag the Chieftain of the camp. He bows and addresses the chieftain, "Great Kaana Korag on behalf of our party, I, Nikebei, want to thank you for accepting us into your camp and showing us the warmth of your hospitality. We come peacefully and with the intent to aid the forest and you. To find and destroy if possible the evil influences that infect your realm. We can only do that with your blessing and with the knowledge you can impart of the realm. I have heard that pathfinders have been here in the past, but were unable to aid the forest as your would have wished, with your help and knowledge we hope to do better. Urwal has spoken of where we must travel, as I am sure he has spoken to you of our quest." Nikebei bows, waiting for Kaana's reply.

He continues to converse, telling Kaana of the fight with the corrupted leshys and Jaldan's bravery in leading the fight against the fire. Thanking him for allowing them to recooperate and stay in the safety of his camp this night. He asks for as much help as Kaana Korag can provide, to aid their quest.

When demons appear in a converstion, the hunter notice:
In my previous life I came so far, that eaten half of Deskari's heart. Demons are sustainable. Their power in their mind-set. Unnatural, cunning, and powerful. But spirits will lead us through the night sky.

Armagile later sends Misha to play (or disturb) Niklaas a bit. To test his habbits and mood.

Hell's Vengeance - Slides

Alright. Splitting this into four parts.

------------------
Urwal's answers:
"Demons have not been sighted. We hope moon stays far from here. I suspect you may find nothing more than angry spirits. Perhaps an old stone, easily smashed. Perhaps something far more dangerous. The stars are silent, but I think caution will not be wasted."

"The fires drove the goblins west, further from our influence. They protect the forest there."

"Nobody blames Pathfinders. Many have thanks. Most here don't care. Kaana's bitter as a weed, though. Thinks we could have done more."

------------------
The Druid:
Fester enters the tent to a druid, poring over a collection of motley and rather fire-damaged old books, scouts' reports, and scribbled notes. A large wolverine enthusiastically plays with a leather cord in a corner of the tent and presents the cord to Fester after he finishes his introduction. It looks like the creature wishes to play tug.

Cenenviel speaks up, telling Fester that the creature's name is Berry-Eater, and he warns that she's a bit too friendly and will follow Fester around camp if she is played with.

You may help Cenenviel by sorting through the records, looking for reasons why the spirits would be angry, with Arcana, Nature, or Occultism. Each PC may attempt a single check. Critical successes count double. Critical failures count negative. There may or may not be something special for playing with the wolverine.

------------------
The Chief: Character profiles updated on final slide!

Lux, Nikebei, and Armagile approach the chief as she finishes overseeing the return of a patrol. Kaana Korag's voice is rough and firm. "Oh great. Pathfinders! Your people may have been 'helpful' in the past, but your people have also caused grave dangers and been known to kill gods, so forgive me for being brash. I may be in need of help, but I won't be taking help from imbeciles and murderers. Prove you have worth, and I'll put you to work."

You may charm her with war stories using Warfare Lore, demonstrating knowledge of nature or wilderness with Nature or Survival, or showing off weapon skills by making an attack roll with a ranged or melee weapon (specifically calls out unarmed attacks aren't allowed) against a heavily-armored dummy nearby. Each PC may attempt a single check. Critical successes count double. Critical failures count negative.

------------------
Jaldan: Finally, one I can actually role play a bit with.

As Niklaas approaches Jaldan, he notices she's surrounded by a group of young centaurs, all about her age. He overhears Jaldan telling stories on the way over. "--the f&^$&^% up raccoon leshy then exploded in a burst of disgusting poison! And the fatter Pathfinder hit the ground hard. Bounced a bit too. It was kinda funny. Oh, oh, and then the fire went EVERYWHERE and--"

At this point Niklaas interrupts. The other centaurs look over in amazement as Jaldan speaks up. "'Sup Stabby!" she calls back. "You ought to have seen this guy!" she says turning back to her friends, "He was all like 'Yo! Stupid plant! I'm gonna use this bear here to distract you while I rip out your insides!' and the plant was all like 'no please!' and then he killed almost all of them! It was amazing!"

You may help Jaldan keep morale of the young ones by embellishing the story furhter with Deception, Diplomacy, or Performance checks. Each PC may attempt a single check. Critical successes count double. Critical failures count negative.

Nikebei, feeling a little disheartened by the way the conversation with the Chief was going, bows and to take his leave. "Just one thing before I go." he says and takes out his frustrations by shooting a stone with his sling at the target. Then walks slowly away head bowed.

He walks back to Jaldan, happy to be back with someone he knows and listens to the story unfolding. He interrupts and continues, "And did you know the dangers that Jaldan herself was in. The flames reached high, orange and yellow flames licking the tops of the trees, underfoot the red embers glowed especially bright. The flames waving about, as if trying to entrance Jaldan, but her mind held firm, unwavering in her duty to protect the forest. The flames rose, the heat could have melted the armour on that dummy over their. Quickly did the flames surround your brave friend, on every side, caught in the middle. Jaldan, using all her nature skills, learnt from her elders over many years, stamped on the ground smothering the flames, yet still the flames attempted to grow. Though Jaldan kept them at bay and used her own force to quell them and make them retreat, until we could all help and stamp out the flames that Jaldan could not reach." Nikebei's paused, to let the children take note of Jaldan's prowess in the fight against the fire. With the children now looking at Jaldan with renewed awe, Nikebei leaves and seeks out Nester.

At the first utterance of the nickname “Stabby,” Niklaas grinned like a maniac. This grin only widened more and more as the centaur girl continued to talk up Niklaas’ many accomplishments. By the end of his introduction to the foals and fillies, he looked incredibly unhinged (he was just that excited - in more ways than one). Niklaas’ mind was racing 90 miles a minute, D@&$! But I might actually be in luv right now! I mean really REALLY in luv! Know it might be creepy an’ all, I mean, how old can dis kid be, anywayz? Niklaas started cackling, then cleared his throat to speak - as Nikebei rushed in to steal his thunder.

As Nikebei completed his piece then raced off, Niklaas shook his fist at him angrily at the halfling’s retreaing back, “CURSE YA SLICK! CURSE YA!! THIS IS MY TIME, YA GLORY HOG! MY TIME!”

Rolling his neck, Niklaas takes a deep breath and exhales, Bloody squat stealin’ my thunda’... Right then!

Clapping his hands together, Niklaas pulls himself back to the moment, crouching low enough to be at eye level with the centaur story-circle. “So - yeah! While Double H here wuz takin’ down dem flamez, dis guy,” Niklaas flicked his thumbs up at his own scary mug, “Ya boy Stabby - formerly known as Stabby McStabberson, formerly known as Slaughta’masta 9000,’ formerly known as Nikky the Knife, tha Amazin’ Ramadaman, AND Notorious Ragman: Notorious R fer short - he wuz doin’ sum extreme prunin’ - if ya get my drift. Wait - but who er Shirley an’ Derrick, ya ask? Whelp, think it’s high time I introduce ya! Now they’re a little shy around kidz, so bear with me ‘ere!”

Niklaas flips back to gain some distance, drawing his blades with a SHING as he lands. “Dis lovely lady ‘ere,” Nodding to his rapier, he makes a few practice thrusts at the air, “Goes by tha name a’ Shirley. She’s one kicka$€, take no prisoners, strong independent b*^%# that don’t take no s&@$ from nobody!” Niklaas then nods to his dagger, making a few practice slashes and stabs, “An dis fine fella’ right ‘chear? He’s Derrick.” Niklaas tosses the knife in the air, catching it on the tip of the blade - then shrugs, “He triez ‘iz best-” the elf leans in and whispers conspiratorially, “-but I still like Shirley betta.’”

The Chief

Kaana Korag's words have Lux confused. She puts a hand to her mouth and leans to Nikebei. "Did the Pathfinders ever kill a God?"

She's quick to deny any allegations of being imbeciles or murderer. "Oh no, chief. We wouldn't dream about it. We really want to help. And I think we have enough experience to know what we're talking about. [i]She thinks about Niklaas, isn't so sure about his experience in these matters, and adds "Well, most of us. We're a team with a very... diverse skill set."

She then sets off to explain about her travels through the World, and the sort of things that she's learned from the Sarkorian refugees she met there.

Next, he goes over to check on the clan’s chief - and if she gives him the same speech, his response is, “Aye! I takez offense ta that! … I’m no imbecile...” he chuckles, noticeably leaving out the murderer part. But then his he grows sober, his ebon lips curling back into a sneer…

(Now, Niklaas is about to do something pretty aggressive here, so if anyone wants to stop him before he gets too far into his tirade, that’s fine; just let me know. He’s going to be loud enough that I imagine everyone would be able to hear, and we can retcon most of this if anyone has a problem with it. That said, this chief is kind of a jerk, she might even respect someone calling her out on her s&$@, and so if Niklaas gets to speak his full piece, it goes something like this…)

Throwing up his hands with an overly-dramatic shrug of his shoulders, Niklaas yells, “BUT YA STILL WANNA SEE THAT WE’RE NOT JUS’ SUM A&@$&@# F&@$TARD?! AW’IGHT! FINE! SURE F%*£~€£ THING!”

Hell's Vengeance - Slides

Alright. Here we go.

Nikebei's outbust just cost the...or....earned the Pathfinders a success! The chief seems pleasantly surprised by the halfling's abilities.

His storytelling proves impressive enough to warrant a few cheers from the children, earning a success with Jaldan.

He then heads to the tent with the books and by pure dumb luck manages to find the exact book Ceneviel was about to ask for before he actually asked for it. Very impressed. Critical success.

---

Niklaas's performance gets the kids all sorts of riled up! They start pretending to stab people with their own pretend Shirley's and Derricks. Jaldan joins in for a bit before taking the helm again. Two successes now.

Niklaas looks over Jaldan before noting that she's probably old enough. Probably.

As Niklaas approaches the chief, he does receive the same general scolding, and the chief merely laughs then Niklaas's rapier flies straight through the air, avoiding the dummy entirely. Good thing that's not what Niklaas was aiming for! As if it came out of nowhere, Niklaas retracts his rapier to reveal a well skewered hunk of rabbit meat. That's a success!

---

Armagile proves himself knowledgeable enough for the captain's liking, but she still doesn't open up. Three total successes now.

Armagile's pipe doesn't go over well with the teenagers, who find the smell repulsive. That's a failure.

He then goes to help Cenenviel, but finds himself far too distracted by the actual wolverine in the tent. That's another failure.

---

Lux finds the chief stoic, but she just barely wins over the chief for the Pathfinders. Success #4.

She makes her way to Cenenviel, and while the coyote and wolverine play (sounds like an oddly specific cartoon), she manages to help the druid piece some things together. That's success #2.

---

Fester tries to interrupt the game of tug between Ozul and Berry Eater, but finds the two enjoy eachothers company a bit much.

Cenenviel appreciates Fester's help, but it doesn't really work out.

The chief finds Fester completely insufferable, but listens nonetheless. "Definitely a murderer, that one." she exclaims before he can really finish his story. Nevertheless, Fester persists and eventually impresses the Chief. Another success!

The children, however, intently listen to Fester's story! They "Ooh" and "Aah!" at the appropriate times (Jaldan included), and the story goes over well! Success #3!

---

Rewards: Chief Kaana Korag opens up enough to share a few of her own tales, offering the Pathfinders a few drinks and reminiscing about the time she had to kill a hill giant all on her own, which took two quivers' worth of arrows. The giant looked like a porcupine afterward. She also shares a few tips on how to fight leshys, giving the Pathfinders a +1 circumstance bonus to initiative checks in fights involving leshys.

The children all cheer and then scatter as Jaldan sighs in relief. "Thank you guys!" she says. "They don't get a lot of excitement 'cuz they've all gotta stay back here in camp and learn and stuff." She quickly offers yet another hug to Niklaas, squeezes real tight, and tells the Pathfinders to wait while she trots off to a tent. She returns promptly with a Holly bush feather token that she made herself. She presents it to a "Stabby McStabberson", and trots off to help get everything settled for the night.

AND, because you played with Berry-Eater, Cenenviel joined in a lot more intently, earning you your third success there too!

Cenenviel is able to find references to some ancient cyclopean ruins in the area, including the stone in the valley, and an old cyclops grave surrounded by standing cairns. Cenenviel theorizes that the cyclopean relics were meant to gather evil energies and might be the cause of all the trouble; when somebody mentions that the leshys spoke Abyssal, Cenenviel becomes convinced that this is the case. The druid theorizes that disabling or destroying the relics might cause the leshys to return to normal. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus on any Arcana or Occultism checks related to cyclopean relics for the rest of the adventure.

---

Having succeeded at helping the tent, Urwal suggests the Pathfinders get some well-deserved rest for the evening.

You receive a full 8 hour rest. If your characters have anything they do through the night or in the morning, now's the time to let me know.

Once the day’s events start winding down and everyone starts getting ready for bed, Niklaas seeks out his two druid Pathfinder associates, asking each in turn (or both together) - and as nonchalantly as he can manage, “Ay… So uh… if sumbody - not necessarily me, mind ya - but if sumbody… say… wuz tryin’ ta impress - complete suppositiomission ‘ere - but… ah… tryin’ ta impress… sumbody else… who may ‘er may not be a… one a’ them a’ tree-hugga chicks… ya know, tha ‘Holly an’ Mistletoe’ kind - if’n ya catch my drift… Seein’ as yer one a’ them types too… Whut do ya think I - I mean, THEY… might could get ‘er make that… Freck - THAT ‘HOLLY’ THERE… might like..? Lux's initial instinct when Niklaas come to her with his story, is to cover her ears and runs away. However, she doesn't really dare to do so, and as he continues with his story she sort of feels for him. She barely understands half of it between his veiled circumspect way of asking, but by the end of his story she genuinely wants to help him.

"So, if I understand correctly, you're figured out what someone - not you - might get as a gift to impress a centaur." She mellows. "Well, I could think of all kinds of practical things. Like a sickle to harvest herbs, or maybe a press to dry them in. Or a sieve to filter water. Buuut..." She finds herself smiling despite herself.

"If you really want to impress, it doesn't have to be practical. And I don't think you'd have to make something yourself. You, as in someone; not you as in you." She fusses with her hair, trying not to get distracted from what she's about to say. "If you want the gift to matter, it has to be personal. To you - I mean, to however gave it." She shakes her head, trying again to stay on track. "I'd suggest to go into the woods - not too far, because it's dangerous - and to find something that stands out. Something that appeals to you. And then give it to her, with an explanation of why you chose it." She's silent for a while, which doesn't happen all too often. She nods, happy with her answer. "Yes, that's what I would suggest. That's a good gift. Going into the natural world, and finding something that you connect with, and sharing that connection."

Watching how dramatic and passionate Niklaas become, even Hunter's feelings become warmer. Niklaas still got elven blood in his veins, so Armagile finally approach with advice, seenig that even Lux is involved in this cross-kin story.
Nik. Lux is right. You are a living story, even though people not always ably to understand your speech. So, bring some present which is following by story. But should I ask about intensions? Sometime making a good meal out of self-slained prey and afterwards consuming it ritually with your object - could make effect as also.

--

Armagile also make a chat with Fester during evening, near campfire.
Fester, you are a good man. But seems to me - you are tryin to live someones else life. I am not here for answers. But maybe lack of luck - is a consequence of you life-style? Pray Desna for good dreams and seek for right path. We are one and there will always be to cooperate and aid you. Find peace. Nerosyan is far. Sometimes I forget that the most dangerous enemy dwels inside us. But sparks about previous life and how I ate Deskari's heart and how I make Ranginori free - all this far away. We should be living our new life. Here and right now. Learn to behold natures beauty... and worlds wonders.

Niklaas listened to the others intently as they each gave him their thoughts; for once, he even forgot to constantly interrupt at inappropriate times as they spoke… But when the two had finished, Niklaas leaned back rubbing his chin, “So… Sumthin’ in naytcha I… I mean, THIS HYPOTHETCIAL SUMONE... connects with, eh? ...Sumthin’ that tellz a’ story… I don’t know... Think I wuz more on board fer tha sickle idea. Least ya can kill things with that... But naytcha...?”

The thought of getting in touch with nature? That struck Niklaas as having a particularly sharp irony to it, especially considering how he’d never given one copper piece about nature in the past. It had always just been kind of… there. Niklaas had never thought of it… pretty much ever... period… And now he had to go out and find something there he could relate to? What new form of torture was this?!

After a moment pondering - Niklaas burst into an abrupt and hysterical fit of cackling. “S#%¥! But this might be harda’ than I thought! I gotta get in touch with naytcha, AND my feelin’s?! Didn’t know I ‘AD any a’ those - feelin’s, that is!” Grinning like an idiot, he shrugged, “Guess I’ll - he’ll… this sumone’ll ‘ave ta dig deep… ‘Specially if they gotta share a story too - F$&@ ME!”

To the other elf’s question, Niklaas raised an eyebrow, “Intentions? H*$& if I know. Guess I wan’ ‘er ta f&@#€£¥ feel tha same- Errr… I mean, that is ta say… that SUMBODY - who ain’t ME, mind ya - if they WERE tryin’ ta impress this chick… Guess they’d prob’bly be doin’ it ‘cause they wanted tha kid ta feel tha same way about them that they… felt… about… the… uh… the other… guy…?” Niklaas trailed off for a second - then threw his hands up in frustration, “S&@$! See whut ya made me do now, Tiny? I don’t even know whut the hell’s comin’ out my mouth no more!”

Finally, Niklaas shrugged, “Whelp. Whut ‘ave I… THEY gotz ta lose…? ‘Ight. I’ll try it yer wayz, chiefs. Not sure what I can find out there, but guess I’ll give it a go...” Niklaas started to get up, then added, “If’n I don’t make it back by mornin,’ send in a’ search party - an’ sum b*+<€£!”

I'll hand-wave it. You all are healed there's enough druids and such in the camp that the spell slots would definitely be available.

Niklaas seems to disappear for the evening. Whether he returns before the morning is yet to be determined.

---

Either way, the morning breaks and Urwal wakes the Pathfinders himself just after the morning breaks. I have cast horoscopes for your mission." Urwal says without preamble, setting a pair of satchels full of traveling supplies by your campsite. "The omens are favorable enough, although the stars carry warning.

"The spirirts of Finadar Forest are sick. Perhaps this is an abscess in nature, and must be lanced with sword and flame. But such a cure is to be mourned, not celebrated," the lizardfolk says, emphasizing each word, eyes constantly locked with Niklaas's. "Better for all if a safer salve is found. Yes? Wouldn't want to anger the tribe or its members." Urwal's gaze stays locked on Niklaas's for a bit longer before it falls. "In addition to these packs, take this. It represents the primeval forest's gratitude."

The packs contain bread, foraged mushrooms, and smoked meat, along with a few coins that aren't able to be spent in present company.

The forest's gratitude is represented by a hunter's bane.

He also presents the PCs with a silver moon pendant worth 8 gp. "From Kaana and Cenenviel. They say it brings good luck."

Alright. Anybody do anything particularly different during daily preparations today? I'll pause here for you to finish those up. Post when you're ready.

((rewinding a tiny bit to respond to Armagile.))

Hearing Armagile's words, Fester stretches out a bit before letting out a sigh. Guess I need to work on my acting still. Regrettable.

"You'll have to tell me what you remember about that Deskari story; you don't hear people claim to have dined on a god every day, to say the least." Fester laughs abruptly before turning to stare at the fire. "As for your concerns, I'm… not sure I agree, honestly. I consider myself to be quite lucky, to say the least; or at least lucky enough to have lived as long as I have. I've borne witness to countless heroes more deserving of life than I whose time has run out, whether that be merely due to heritage or as a result of being snuffed out prematurely."

Fester picks a stick from the forest floor and inserts it into the fire, holding on and watching as the flame burns down the wood. "I never really did much with my life before, you know. I had all the time in the world and nowhere to put it. But the strange thing is, when I think of those that came before me… well, it gives me something to work towards. Living in their shoes, and trying to live up to the example they set… no, perhaps working to carry on their legacy would be more accurate? It makes it feel like this life I've been given exists for a reason, to carry those heroes spirits onward into a new age…" Fester smiles as the wood begins to singe his fingers. With a blue glow, the twig disintegrates, and Fester turns his head to the night sky. "I don't envy the stars. To see so many fight and die and be forgotten in the span of a blink… it's no wonder they arrange themselves in constellations. Just another way of keeping the spirit alive."

Fester lacks any real daily preparation schenanigans at this level, so I'm ready to go whenever.

Lux listens solemnly as Urwal explains about the ways of curing what ails the forest. "We'll try out best Urwal. You can count on that." She checks the satchels with traveling supplies. "Thank you for these. How long do you think it will takes us to reach the site"

Lux stays up awake for a while to see when Niklaas returns (and with what), but eventually decides that he has a right to his privacy. She turns into her bedroll, but Ozul tucked in the space behind her bent knees.

Lux studies Heal and Shillelagh as her 1st level spells the next day. Updated on my profile.

Nikebei wakes up refreshed after a nights sleep, stretching his arms to the sky, he lets out a long and contented sigh. After yesterday's excitement, I wonder what's in store for today....it'll be a nice day. With that the halfling tucks into a fine breakfast and is ready to face the day.

After Urwal's words, a little confused Nikebei asks, "Is there anyone coming to lead us on the journey or do you have a map of the path?" He looks at Lux and Armagile, "You know the forest don't you, you will be able to lead us on?"

He then looks into the satchel, his eyes open wide, "Oh, it can't be far, this is but a little snack. It is however very much appreciated." he beams a big smile. Perhaps we can have the snack by the ancient cyclopean ruins, even if they are infused with evil and we have to neutralise them. So we might find the stone in the valley where an old cyclops grave is surrounded by big old standing cairns. If Cenenviel is right there's a chance we can return the leshys to their natural state by getting rid of these relics. Yep gonna be an exciting day alright.

Nikebei gathers up his belongings and putting the satchel over his shoulder looks at his fellows and in a flourish, bows, "Nikebei at your service."

Hell's Vengeance - Slides

Had a string of tiny emergencies that took a bunch of my time. Everything's fine now.

Urwal provides you with directions, forbidding any further help from the centaurs. "You seem capable enough." he adds before walking away as if you never even existed.

As they travel over the course of the next day, the Pathfinders find the forest becoming gradually quieter. There are more burnt areas here, both old scars from earlier fires and the remnants of more recent blazes. There are fewer animals as well. Eventually, the Pathfinders come across a small mountain stream, which matches Urwal's directions--they're on the right path.

As the Pathfinders cross the stream, they spot movement up ahead. An enormous scarecrow is busily clearing the collected growth of eons past from an ancient set of cyclopean menhirs that surround what looks to be an altar or grave of some kind, decorated with a sinuous, flowing script. Several small animals have been freshly sacrificed atop the altar, their blood sliding into the grooves of the letters carved into the stone. As the Pathfinders approach further, they realize the true size of the scarecrow, with eyes like bubbling black pools in its sackcloth face and hands twisted into wooden talons.

Forgot to ask for how you guys are moving through, but this fight isn't too bad, so I'll just do perception.

Perception:

Lux: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
”Fester”: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Nikebei: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Niklaas: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Armagile: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Scarecrow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

The scarecrow quickly reacts to the Pathfinder's presence. It quickly dashes through the forest to Niklaas and tries to claw at the elf.

Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Intimidate to demoralize: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 Success

Niklaas is able to react JUST in time to dodge a claw, and it narrowly avoids tearing into his right arm starting at the shoulder. Yep. It has reach. He then quickly avoids another claw, but finds himself face to face with the scarecrow as it expels hot air over the elf as if it was breathing. Niklaas feels a chill run down his spine.
