Mikkitar, there are two ladders, both appear to the structurally sound.

One descends from the level of the fireplace hearth down to the sewage below. Crusted filth on the rungs show that it has been used by creatures (probably goblins) that fell in and needed to climb back up.

The other is inside the large chimney, leading up into the dim light.

As you and Olander steady yourselves on the stone hearth before the chimney, you hear a sound from up inside.

A serpentine shape emerges from the space above to threaten you!

A gray, lipless goblin head with serpent’s fangs sits atop the sinuous black body of this greasy-scaled snake.

Nocki exclaims "Of course this would happen. Hang tight pathfinders, I'm coming!"

The dwarf walks slowly on the plank. Upon reaching the other side, he jumps to the platform where the others are.

Walk slowly so as to not need a roll. Afterwards, if I still have an action, jump over to the other side

Olander stabs the snake, drawing blood.

The snake starts to shriek something in the goblin tongue

Then Mikkitar's morningstar ends its tirade in mid-sentence.

Sandu waits for the commotion to end, then waits a little longer before following the rest of the team.

Nocki climbs up the interior of the chimney. At the floor above he finds the crumbling, charred brick of the chimney has been chipped away to create a large hollow within, with a tangle of discarded planks and other rubbish now serving as a floor.

Peering out through the breach in the chimney wall he sees that most of the attic ceiling has collapsed into the room below, but most of the rafters have gone with it in this area, leaving large gaps of empty space over the drop.

In the dim light he sees three figures (2 small and 1 medium sized) standing out in the room, balancing on the beams of the remaining rafters.

Nocki wonders why he can't see the figures in the dim light, where he could usually see in the dark. He readies his shield and his weapon and says "Who's there?". He steps sideways to allow the others to climb as well.

As Mikkitar gets to the top, he readies his crossbow and prepares to fire at the figures if they prove hostile.


Mikkitar climbs up beside Nocki in the attic, emerging out of the hole in the broken chimney.

Nocki's vision starts to sharpen as he gets used to the hazy dusty air.

He sees a dark haired varisian woman with a red bandanna tied around her head with a drawn sword standing balanced on the rafters across the room.

The woman matches the description you have of Natalya Vancaskerkin.

Flanking her, on either side of her are a pair of sewer goblins.

"Who are you people that dare intrude in my home!" the woman demands imperiously.

Nocki looks at the woman and, without answering Mikkitar, says with a very loud voice "You! Is your name Natalya Vancaskerkin?"


"I am the great Vancaskerkin!" the woman responds haughtily.

"Who in the devil are you scum?"

Luckily, Mikkitar speaks before Nocki, preventing the dwarf from bursting his temper at Natalya. With Mikkitar's interference, Nocki stays his tongue and waits for the woman's response.


"Pathfinders...." she seems to think for a second.

The goblins shift uneasily, nervous about what might happen if their mistress gets angry.

"Minions of that fool Sheila Heidmarch I suppose."

"Well ... I have nothing for her. Go back to her and tell her to bother me no more!"

The Varisian rogue seems to be speaking very grandly for a fugitive on the run who's hanging out with goblins in a building that's more sewer than house.

Nocki points and laughs at Natalya. He says "That's cute. Now you're coming with us." He says it nonthreatening, only stating what is for him a fact.

"Bwahahahahah!" she throws her head back and laughs maniacally.

The goblins look back and forth at each other, Natalya, and the party. They seem nervous, but haven't done anything overtly hostile. The each have one of those bags of sewage and broken glass in their hands.

Where is everyone located at this point. Have you all climbed up the ladder in the old chimney?

Nocki takes a look at the state of the construction on which Natalya is standing, wondering how sturdy it is and what it would take to bring it down.

Bear looks at Natalya menacingly.


Environment Notes: The attic crawlspace is 5 feet high, requiring most Medium creatures to crouch slightly but not otherwise impeding their movement.

The rafters are 8 inches wide, and require a successful DC 10 Acrobatics check to cross for each square. They seem solidly built and appear to support the weight of Medium creatures.

Where the ceiling remains between the rafter it is composed of thin slats that break if much weight is placed upon them.

Anyone who falls through the ceiling lands 13 feet below in the sludge below.

Lets try some good cop to go with Nocki's intimidation

Olander looks down Pride cometh before the fall, and that is one place you don't want to fall. Olander geastures downward Lets go back to the lodge, talk about this over a nice drink. Do you drink tea? Or perhaps something stronger? We have no intention of doing anything untoward that would cause any mishaps that end with some of us down in the muck, but that said, Nocki speaks the truth, you need to come with us.

Take 10 on diplomacy for a 20 with Sandu's bonus. If my words appear to fall flat, Olander will also start making his way across, assuming he is agile enough to go on the beams, although it may be initiative at that point.


Natalya is completely unswayed by your words....

Seeing his words fall on deaf ears, Olander takes a step out onto a rafter towards Natalya.

Seeing Olander start to step forward, the goblins growl and both fling their bags of sewage at him.

One sack of filth falls short, splattering the rafters, the other strikes Olander in the chest.

Olander takes 1hp of damage from the glass shards in the sack and needs to make a DC12 Fortitude save or be sickened for 1d6 ⇒ 2 rounds.

Mikkitar draws out his last remaining bomb and chucks it at Goblin 2.

Nocki sees the poop filled bag get thrown and is completely taken aback with anger.

If he had rage, he would enter it about now

Then Mikkitar throws a bomb and Nocki watches, wondering if the rafters will break from the explosion.

Mikkitar's bomb impacts on the wall to the left of the goblin, but catches it in the blast. The little humanoid has a gash in its right shoulder and looks weak.

Natalya steps backwards and chants an arcane phrase casts a spell.

A layer of grease covers a 10 foot square between her and the party.

After she finishes casting, she draws a hand crossbow from a holster on her hip.

Nocki's crossbow bolt flies wide, lodging itself in the rotten roof.

Olander wobbles out across the rafters. His erratic steps and non-stop heaving and gagging worries his comrades, but he reaches the wounded goblin and stabs at him.

Unfortunately, he chokes on the stab (literally and figuratively) and his rapier misses the goblin.

With Olander moving, Sandu has room to move up the ladder and into the attic.

With Olander threatening the wounded goblin, his partner cries out in alarm.

"JubJub!!!!" the little greenskin cries as he draws his dagger and hops across the rafters to help his friend.

It being too far for him to reach Olander by skirting around the Grease on the rafters, he instead cuts straight across the room with disastrous results.

The injured goblin, too distracted by Olander's attack to notice his friend's fall, steps backward from Olander and draws his blade.

Natalya see's her goblin minion's mistake and she curses.

"Worthless fool!!!! I will curse your entire line!!!" she screams down at the sewage pool below where her minion disappeared.
