When agents of the newest Pathfinder Society lodge in Magnimar learn of a fragmented artifact scattered throughout the lands of old Thassilon, it falls to a new band of heroes to step in and gather up the seven fragments of this Shattered Star.

Mikkitar moves into the stinking place next to Nocki, looking down at the sewer before heading up the ladder.

"This place is nasty-stinky. Must be in use quite frequently-often, to smell this ripe."


@Mikitar: From living below ground in the city most of your life, you can surmise that the pipes coming out of the wall probably connect to the city's sewers. In general, the city's waste flows downhill, towards the harbor and the ocean, so the closer you get to the water, the worse the sewers are.

Nocki plants one foot onto a rung of the ladder, grabs it by two hands and starts up towards the attic.

As soon as he puts his weight on the rung, the wood breaks and the rung splits. The dwarfs heavy boot drops down a foot to the next rung, which splits as well, then this repeats and he breaks a third rung.

Struggling to believe he could have been so wrong about the ladder's craftsmanship, Nocki drops into the sludge and sewage below.

When he impacts, a splash of nasty brown liquid sprays out around him.

Fortunately the filth is only about three feet deep.

Unfortunately, Nocki needs to make a Fortitude saving throw.

"Oh boggers!", Nocki says loudly in protest of the universe.

Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Add 2 if it's versus poison.

Afterwards, he attempt to climb back up.

Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17


Nocki and Bear are pretty filthy down in the pit of sewage.

He begins to climb up the wall when two goblins appear in the sewer outflows in the east wall.

"Yippee Yappie Yabahhhh!!!!" one of them screams out and they both throw filthy cloth bags at you.

Poo filled bag at Olander: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5 (touch attack)

Poo filled bag at Nocki: 1d20 - 1 - 4 ⇒ (12) - 1 - 4 = 7 (touch attack, cover)

Both of the bags fly past to splatter against the far wall.

It seems that the goblins have improvised weapons by filling bags with sewage and bits of broken glass.

Olander pulls a rope from his pack and tosses one end to Nocki. He then steps back from the edge to avoid bags of poop and prepares to help lift his friend. Move to grab rope, standard to toss it, 5' step away from the edge.

"Yes-yes, goblin speech is easy. Many swears, much emphasis on flavor and mouth-feels."


The sewer outflows in the east wall are roughly 2 feet above the level of the muck, or 5 feet from the mushy bottom of the pool.

The the two goblins continue their poorly executed ambush.

[spoiler=Mikkitar/anyone who speaks goblin] At this point the two of them are arguing about who has the worse aim.[/ooc]

Then, there's a surprise as one of the goblins is booted in the rear by a third goblin looking to get in on the action!

The unfortunate greekskin tumbles down into the muck in a disgusting bellyflop that likely earned it a mouthful of foul waste.

Goblin:
"Stupid little runts! You throw poo, I throw fire! Burn in your own waste, you dog loving toothless scraps of flesh!"

As the nasty, guttural goblin speech flows quite naturally from Mikkitar, he hefts another vial from his belt and launches it at the newcomer to the fray.

Bomb vs touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 for Fire: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 direct hit, DC 14 ref or catch fire, and 4 splash damage.


Mikkitar, I'm ruling that throwing over/through Olander and through the doorway down to the goblins will give them cover.

Your bomb just misses.

It flies a little high, impacting the wall above the newcomer.

It does splash damage to goblins 3 and 2.

In his more than precarious position, Nocki throws his shield down just out of the house, climbs back up and pulls out his crossbow to fire at the goblins.

I'm assuming I am out already.

Nocki aims his crossbow at one of the hurt (goblin 2) goblins and shoots angrily.

Shoot: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1

He quickly discovers that shooting a crossbow angrily doesn't help him hit anything. The bolt flies towards the ceiling, hits it and falls harmlessly.

Mikkitar throws his next-to-last bomb at the goblin in the corner, hoping to aim better this time.

Mikkitar's bomb scatters and hits the wall above his target's head.

A rain of fire drops down on him and he dies screaming curses in the goblin tongue.

Olander has an action and then the goblins are up.

The goblin in the pit of sewage attempts to climb up to the far side again.

Nocki relaxes a bit as one of the goblins goes down. He says "Good work", without calling out Mikkitar by name.

He refocuses on the other goblin throwing poo at him and shoots another bolt at it.

Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2

This time he draws blood from the goblin, even though it isn't a clean hit.


Nocki's crossbow bolt flashes through the goblin's throat, ending it's brief life of sewage and violence.

Only the goblin in the pit of sewage remains.

He is indescribably filthy after falling in and splashing around in the muck.

When he gets in range, he stabs the climbing goblin.

Olander nimbly crosses the plank to the other side and skewers the goblin through the heart.

It clutches at the wound as it falls lifeless into the pit of sewage.

Olander can see through the door into the next room in the dim light that filters through the cracks in the wall and ceiling.

The floor of this room has fallen away, leaving a narrow, charred ledge along the south and east walls. To the northwest, a ledge heaped with crates and barrels sits, while above the rafters of the attic lay bare to view.

As he surveys the room, a crossbow bolt slams into the doorframe next to his head.

Goblin Heavy Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

damage: 1d10 ⇒ 8

He looks across the room to see a goblin with an oversized crossbow drop out of view behind the makeshift barricade.

Nocki sighs in relief at the goblin's demise. Then as quickly as he got relieved, he is somersaulted by the new crossbow bolt. He reloads the crossbow and picks up his shield.

Move action 1: Reload crossbow. Move action 2: Pick up shield.

@Olander: It would be more of a climb check to shimmy along the wall over the pit of sewage in this room. It's obvious that the goblins must go through the closed door on the eastern end of the north wall and circle around through to ledge where they're bunkered in.

Mikkitar rests his crossbow against the jamb of the door, readying a shot if the goblin pokes its head above the barricade again.

Goblin:
"C'mon toothless egg sucker...you cant hide forever, especially covered in poo!"


A second goblin pops up behind the barricade with an oversized crossbow.

Mikkitar, take your readied shot before it fires.

The second goblin flies backwards, his arms flying out wide, with Mikkitar's crossbow bolt stuck through his forehead.

Good shot .. not a confirmed hit because of cover but good enough to drop him.

The other goblin is safely down behind his barricade, reloading his heavy crossbow.
