When agents of the newest Pathfinder Society lodge in Magnimar learn of a fragmented artifact scattered throughout the lands of old Thassilon, it falls to a new band of heroes to step in and gather up the seven fragments of this Shattered Star.

For reference: the plank is in the first room. As long as you aren't in immediate danger you can cross the plank without rolling dice. The second room essentially has a 'moat' of sewage splitting the room diagonally with the goblin crossbowman behind a barricade on the far side of the moat.

The remaining goblin pops up again, resting his oversized crossbow on the barricade in front of him and fires back at Mikkitar!

The crossbow bolt flies wide, embedding itself into the wall of the room near the door.

Nocki thinks that he shouldn't try to cross over to where the goblins are. He keeps on shooting his crossbow, after dropping his shield on the floor.

The smell of sewer still affects his concentration and he misses the goblin's general direction. He loads another bolt into the crossbow.

Nocki points his crossbow and says "Sure wish I had a grappling hook right now, to topple that barricade over. Are you out of bombs, ratman?" He waits for the goblin to show himself before shooting.

His shot still hits only the barrel.

"One more-more left today. But the throw is long for me. Shoot the gobbo instead!"

Mikkitar readies another shot when the goblin pokes out again.

Shoot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 to hit, for Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 4 damage

"Bah! We.need to rush-rush the goblin! Chop him up and toss into the sewage!"


The goblin pops up again and fires his oversized crossbow at Mikkitar.

Both Mikkitar and Nocki fire at the crossbow, both shooting fairly wild.

"Nah! Nah! Nah! Nah! Nah! the runt shouts wildly.

Heavy Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

damage: 1d10 ⇒ 5

the goblin's crossbow bolt slices through Mikkitar's arm, causing him pain.

Mikkitar remains behind his own cover and downs a vial, healing some of the damage from the crossbow bolt nearly instantaneously.

CLW extract, heal for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 HP


Nocki spends the round waiting on the goblin to show himself.

The goblin, predictable as ever, pops up from behind his barricade with his heavy crossbow.

"Nyah!!!!" it blurts out as it starts to aim.

Before it shoots, Nocki fires his crossbow.

The crossbow bolt flies true and lodges itself in the goblin's forehead.

The foul little humanoid falls over backwards with its arms thrown wide.

Nocki breathes in deep but stops quickly, disgusted by the smell. He puts the crossbow away and picks up his shield again. He says "This is why I hate goblins." He looks at the way over to the goblins and gives up trying to search them for valuables. Too dangerous. He looks around, even up and down before commenting "This Natalya had better be made of gold."

Nocki looks to Sandu and says "Well, I'd be all chippy too, if I hadn't fallen in a damned pit with the city's sewers! I think we should dip this Natalya in there to dissuade her from disappearing like this again. Come on, let's move forward."

Nocki goes to the nearby door and opens it holding his shield in front of him.

Olander thinks of saying something, but thinks it better to not further stir up the already aggrieved dwarf and simply nods in agreement.


Nocki opens the door on the far side of the room. The room he sees has no floor, opening directly into the sump of a sewage pit below. Likewise, the charred ceiling has fallen away, revealing the fire-blackened rafters above. Next to a hole cut in the southwest corner of the wall, a crude ladder that has been nailed to the wall provides access to the rafters above.

Nocki steps back to allow the others to see the pit. He lowers his head and says "Seems like we'll have to scoop this wall to get to that ladder."

He checks to see which way is easier to get to the hole in the wall (A4 or A5)?.

Olander assumes, probably correctly, a dwarf knows more of walls than he does.


Nocki. Climbing along the wall looks to be moderately difficult (DC15), climbing up into the rafters would be more difficult (DC20), the sewage doesn't look any deeper or worse than the pit you fell into in the other room.

Lovely. Without the shield, I have exactly 50% chance to make it.

Nocki says to Mikkitar "Hold this" and hands him his shield. He attempts to climb along the wall.

Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Upon reaching the other side, he says "Now throw me the shield!"

Mikkitar throws the shield to Nocki, then looks for a good place fo anchor a rope or something similar.

"I can't climb that-that, not easily yes-yes."

Nocki, finally feeling useful, says "Throw me the end of the rope and tie the other end on yourself. If you fall, I'll catch you!"


Nocki: when you reach the other side you can see that the goblins cut a small hole in the wall to reach their fortified bunker. The bodies of the two goblins you shot down are laying where they fell. They each were using a heavy crossbow, sized for a medium creature. The door in the west wall is closed.

After helping whoever wishes to cross over, Nocki says "Check if these dirty bastards have anything valuable. I'll go check the stairs." Nocki goes and tests the stairs for a long while before actually putting his weight on it.

Oh em gee, you have no idea. Nocki might give up adventuring just to focus on redesigning the sewer system of Magnimar.


There goes Olander, ruining the fun.

Nocki starts to test the ladder up to the rafters with his boots, but Olander calls out a warning. "That ladder's not going to hold your weight any better than the last one."

With that, Nocki squints down at the ladder and notices that there's no way the worm-eaten wood could support his weight.

"Rope-rope is needed down here in this poop covered place. Yes-yes, we will need sewer spelunking gear for better exploration or be all nasty-smelly like the poop water below-below."

Mikkitar looks for other ways to get around, like secret doors, handholds, or the like.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10


Mikkitar doesn't notice anything special or secret.

He ducks through the goblin sized hole in the wall where the snipers were dug in and looks overs their corpses as well.

The only thing of value they have is a pair of heavy crossbows sized for medium creatures.

I sort of get the feeling that our GM likes to dip me in excrement... XD

Nocki looks at Olander with thankful eyes. He promptly gets off the ladder and asks "Right, we shouldn't be using these things. Does anyone here have a grappling hook?"


Shifted things on the map so it is a little clearer.

There is a door in the west wall that needs a climb check to scoot over to, or a climb check up from the sewage if you fall in.

There are windows in the north and east walls. Dim light from Underbridge filters through these in between boards that have been nailed across them.

Nocki realizes that there's no way around it. He says "Guess I'll have to scoot over, then. Maybe there's a proper ladder on the other side." He leaves his shield with Mikkitar again, and ties an end of his rope on himself so it'll be easier to carry things over.

Climb to door: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

He does a remarkable job and reaches the door without much problem and opens it.


Nocki scrambles along the wall to the door. It opens easily, revealing another room in the ruined old house.

This room is floorless, with only an exposed septic pit where the floor should be. A dry sewer pipe extends from the wall of this pit. The west wall is dominated by a massive brick fireplace that still remains anchored in place, overlooking the sewage. A ladder extends from the sewage to the fire-blackened hearth above. As in other rooms, the ceiling here has collapsed to reveal the attic space.

Can we take 20 or use assistance to move across? If not, Mikkitar is unlikely to be able to progress.

Nocki is tired of testing faulty ladders. However he doesn't give up. He says "Oy lads, there's a ladder over there. Maybe this one is working. I have an idea. There's a plank in the first room. If you bring it over, we can use it to walk over the sewers without having to carefully climb the walls."

The board from the first room isn't long enough to stretch across to the fireplace, but it is long enough to reach the sewer outflow in the north wall. It's a short hop from there to the fireplace.

The hop will be a DC10 Acrobatics check. 5 feet, doubled to 10 due to a lack of a running start.
