Viviane's natural charisma seems to set Alvreein at ease.

Elwin the Technomancer wrote:
"Fascinating. Yes, we are here to study the sounds coming from here. You called it a marker. Can you describe it?"

”Yes, The markers, a gift from Yaresa herself! It is my role to guard the holy stones, and study the messages from Yaresa that are transmitted across this world by them. Lately the stones have been corrupted. The small creature gestures behind her to the cracked and broken menhir. "The one behind us has been damaged heavily. The holy formula’s contained within have been fouled and altered. It has caused instability across the world, massive storms, earthquakes, death and destruction. I was making my way to a settlement close by to report back what I have discovered. If you’re here to help, come, please. Speak to our leaders. This way, this way’

The small creature motions for you to follow.

Feel free to ask more questions. Anyone wanting more information about what this small creature might be can make a life science check

Seeing how Vyviane's appearance changes Rhys comments "I heard some follower of Weydan are blessed like this. Looks great!".

~~~~~~~~~~~
After her spell made it possible to communicate with this creature Rhys smiles and tries to also ask a few questions. "Nice to meet you Cantor Alvreein. My name is Rhys Dawnstep and yes magic can do a lot of things, but also technology or a combination of that. Our vessel is technological and yes we are here to study the source of something that caught our attention it sure could be those marker you are talking about.
So you are a Priest, can you tell us more about Yaressa?" Remembering that the Starfinders are only here since a few hours and lights in the sky means starships she dares to ask.
"So since when did you see more lights up in the sky?" Giving a meaningful look to her team.
Hearing about corruption she makes a disgusted face."We sure are willing to help get rid of any corruption!" Her fists are clenched and for a brief moment she remembers something dark and shakes her head mumbling something that sure sounds like a prayer.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 Mysticism, to know more about Yaressa: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Alvreein examines the ship again. "Technological... fascinating, fascinating!"
Rhys might know Yaraesa Oops I've been spelling it wrong as the Lady of Wisdom. She is a goddess of knowledge, learning, and science. To Yaraesa's followers, the core meaning of life is to search for knowledge and meaning through education and experimentation. She is known and worshipped in the Pact Worlds as well.
At Rhys' last question, Alvreein ponders a moment. "I spent much of my time in the wilderness guarding and studying the stones. At night I watch the stars, and started noticing unfamiliar lights starting about two months ago. It was quiet for a time, but lately there has been an increase. The last several nights for certain"
I have added a photo of Cantor Alvreein to the Google Slides. Slide 3
Hearing that she gives a nod the others. "So since when was there a change in the holy formula? We were able to hear the formula but understanding them at that point in time was a bit much for us. It sure is a beautiful song." Rhys tries to hum what she remembered from the song.
"And i am sorry for the losses you already suffered you know that your system is really unique? I am not educated in any kind of Science so far maybe later i will pick up a field of study, but i know a bit of Mysticism. life science: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Elwin recognizes the creature as a Quorlu.
Quorlu:
With a 26 you get the whole Wiki article!
Quorlus have four legs, three tentacular arms, three eyestalks, and a crystalline lithic shell vulnerable to certain frequencies. Their organs, made of crystal fibre, float in a plasma within their body. Their heart serves as both a circulatory and digestive organ, and generates their high internal heat, which can be hindered by extreme cold. The average quorlu is 4-1/2 feet tall and weighs 350 pounds.
Quorlus live underground in the stony crust of their home world of Quorlosh, where they delve for and farm minerals which they eat. Due to the instability of their habitat, quorlus are resilient to loss and accepting of impermanence. When a quorlu settlement is damaged, they simply dig out and repair, and avoid rebuilding where subsequent destruction is likely.
Quorlus are peaceful and value experiences, and few truly enjoy fighting. Their military traditions, which come from their engineering customs, emphasise explosives. Quorlu voices are considered to be soothing by many other intelligent races, especially when singing, which quorlus love to do. They speak a highly tonal, trilling language which is very hard for other races to master, and includes delicate vibrations that sound especially pleasant to shirrens due to their sensitivity. This particular offshoot of the Quorlus seem to have developed their own language, Enerethian
At Rhys questions Alvreein states "We should meet with the elders at Hulwen’s Posit, a settlement not far from here. Come, come!" The female Quorlu motions again for you to follow her.
On the way to the settlement she listens what Elwin has to say about Quorlus.
Alvreein continues bombarding you with questions on the walk, fascinated by the pact worlds, your individual societies, background, and the Starfinders. She guides you along closer to the volcano overland for around 15 minutes before coming to a hidden entrance to a tunnel network. She guides you inside and continues along the dark and twisting pathways for almost a half hour, chattering the whole time.
A soft glow ahead of you grows closer, Alvreein turns back to look at you. ”Welcome to Hulwen’s Posit.” The tunnel opens into a large, dimly lit cavernous area. The ceiling of this cavern raises up 30 feet, and several glowing crystals nestled along the cavern ceiling provide ample illumination for the entire area. Column-like walls of stone break up the area, as do small pools of water. Dozens of three-armed creatures sit quietly reading and copying scrolls onto fresh silicone sheets. A youth of this species pierces the silence with an excited shrill leading all the nearby creatures to stand and ponderously approach. The beings excitedly talk over one another, filling the cavern with a cacophony of song-like voices.
As the crowd excitedly chatters, the crack of gunfire rings out. Some in the crowd panic, sending the creatures scattering for safety. Cantor Alvreein joins the rest of the Quorlu and scurries away. A battle-scarred violet-skinned elven woman, flanked by two rough looking characters in menacing spiked armor, holds a gun up in a cocky fashion. “Ah, the Starfinders. I was wondering when you would get here. My name is Raval Domunseir. I had reports of your ship landing close by.”
Trying to remember anything she might have heard about a woman named Raval Domunseir, Rhys looks at the three figures.
She squints a bit by trying to make out anything about them from the style of the clothing, the armour, the weapons and any other visible items, especially should they wear any religious symbols.
Knowing she has other options, she just cocks her head. "You seem to feel yourself at home here, although it's not your home."
What do i roll to know more about her and her companions, just two entities in armour for now.
Raval throws her head back and laughs. At this, her two tag alongside take a cue and begin laughing as well. "The classic Starfinder pride." When she says Starfinder, it is dripping with disdain.
Vyviane cocks an eye. "A deal, eh? Well why don't you tell me some of the details about this deal? First, what's in this for you? Second, how in the nine realms of hell would this risk a 'divine war'? Finally, 'permit?' Rather high horse for a woman who is out numbered, heavily. I for one favor this solution. How long will you give us? One full day?
question for the dm:
I obviously dmed this one before, the problem is the scenario assumes you tell him no and a fight begins and there are no guidelines as to what to do if you say yes. There are no boxes to check for reporting notes saying if you did this check box A, if you did this, check box B. So how would you handle the group telling him yes?
"Divine war? Who is on the other side opposing Yaraesa?" everybody is able to hear that Rhys does not like this woman.
Trying to find out more Rhys is being blunt "Who told you to expect us?"
She eyes Ziamat irritated.
Sorry about the delay guys. Crazy day
Ziamat wrote:
Raval looks at the large dragonkin. "Finally, someone reasonable. You would have as much time as it takes for us to end Yaraesa's little divine experiment here and allow this planet to be consumed by the great Devourer." Behind her, her two henchmen bang their fists on their armoured chests, barking and laughing loudly.
At this, Rhys' knowledge of hidden cults clicks in her mind. While she can't yet identify the second emblem on their armour, she recognizes these people as members of the Cult of the Devourer. A doomsday cult that seeks to bring down civilisation, and more broadly existence itself, in the name of its patron deity, the Devourer.
Rhys Dawnstep wrote:
She eyes Viviane suspiciously, and ignores her extended hand. "Oh, but we do. Events have been set into motion. Even if you strike us down, you only serve to send us to our God. The Devourer shall consume us all, eventually". This outburst causes her cultist henchmen to howl with a chaotic, manic laughter.
Rhys adresses Ziamat "Do you really believe a doomsday Cult following a chaotic evil god will stop with only one planet and a sun? Don't go down this dark path, i do believe you value your life and this Cult of The Devourer will never stop. You really want someone to weaponize a Black Hole? And who knows maybe The Devourer placed this Black Hole here where it does not belong at all and Yaraeas put up this defense. I am pretty sure it tames this Black Hole up there."
Everybody can see how tense Rhys now stands there.
"So you are members of a Cult of the Devourer a cult with the goal to rip out existence itself?" She bares her teeth, clearly a mutated human with 4 incisors between her upper canines in her upper jaw and the same number of teeth in her lower jaw her mouth wider then it's normal for a human.
"I offer you one change to take the path of redemption. If you are not willing to redeem yourself, the only way to protect life and existence itself is a swift death for you!" Her left hand wearing the battleglove is slowly balling up to a fist ready to strike.
Hearing this woman she doubts this purple skinned Elf, a Drow she assumes, is willing to redeem herself.
The Devourer... what else do i know... Rhys mumbles. Mysticism, The Devourer: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 Sense Motive, if that woman is behind any hope for redemption: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
"So you corrupted the holy stones making sure this black hole is not running rampage in our plane of existence? Then you manipulated the locals to join your Cult... she glares angry into the eyes of this woman.
"Sure at first it's only this planet and for people in the Pact Worlds the Vast Space is far enough away to never really think a Black Hole here would be any danger at all.
But you will never stop until all life and unlife is gone and there is no more that exists."
looking at the henchmen "So she convinced you that Yaraesa is in the wrong, by corrupting and manipulating the protection of your species and the plants, animals, rocks and all the others forms of existence around in this corner of the Universe. It's not too late you can turn around and left this path into darkness, destruction, deception by a Cult whos only purpose is to destroy everything, literally everything." Rhys hope is they can understand Common, and will try it in Aklo and the last language she tries to convice the henchmen to redeem themselves is Ghibran.
Passionate she tries to convince the henchmen to redeem themselves and no longer follow that mad woman.
Adressing her fellow Starfinders "Even if her henchmen attack us, let's not kill them. They deserve a second change for redemption."
Pointing one of her long fingers to Raval "You on the other hand only deserve one!"
Seeing i rolled very well for knowledge about The Devourer i can tell you that god is Chaotic Evil!
I will monologue everything i know about The Devourer into my speech for the henchmen and to Ziamat tempted to go onto a dark path.
I will try any skill to bring cult members back on the right path.
I've added my tokens to the slides and grouped my drone and character tokens since I'm riding on its back. Sorry for not doing that sooner. I completely forgot.
With a start at the sudden but expected violence, Berith readies to attack Raval then directs her drone to move forward into a better firing position. Shai lurches into action, bounding forward. Both Berith and Shai open fire.
Berith readies an action (Standard) to fire after her drone's movement, directs her drone to move (Move, granting the drone an extra Move action), the drone moves (Move action), and they both fire (Readied Action plus drone Standard action.
Fairly certain she missed, she adds, "I knew I should have aligned my sights before leaving the ship."
I didn't want to play around with the mechanics of the scenario, even tho we're having a little fun with the story. Thanks for making it cannon/make sense!
Now that I'm near the water, can I tell how deep it is? I know the scenario doesn't say, pretty sure that part is left up to the DM, but if it is something I can use to my advantage, I might.
In the precedent I set by the case of Elwin v. Quorlu, with a high 20's, you learn Everything in the wiki about the Devourer
Berith moves forward on Shai, their shots glancing around Raval's feet. Ziamat flies forward.
The pools are described as small pools created by the Quorlu for the sustenance they need. Because the Quorlu are tunnellers, the pools are various depths to reach small springs. Let's consider all pools as difficult terrain. Because the edges of the cavern are supported by columns of stone, any PC moving at the edges of the map can find partial cover there (+2 ac, +1 Reflex saves). These small pillars will be located in the bottom and top 4 spaces of the map. If you move into these areas, you can declare you are in partial cover.
The Devourer Cultiust on Raval's left rushes forward, pistol drawn. with a howl of excitement, he levels a shot at Berith and fires.
Vyviane gives a huff at the sight of the fight being somewhat mediocre and decides to jog forwards with her companions. She natters away at the other purple skinned woman, "You know I was thinking this from way before, but we have way too similar of a look. Someone needs to change. I don't have enough foundation with me and when was the last time you updated your look? I mean seriously that hair cut is at least a century out of date! ugh." As she natters at the woman, Vyviane makes a snap with her fingers and forms a finger gun. Sense Motive, if that woman is behind any hope for redemption I made that roll earlier.
In her anger and knowing how bad she is at shooting Rhys uses her magic and stays where she is. Pointing a finger at Raval three tiny meteroites are searching unerringly theirs ways across the battlefiel impacting into Raval.
"The Devourer is chaotic evil and is concerned only with the obliteration of all reality, cannot be reasoned with, delayed, or halted, and it largely ignores even its own cultists. Elwin's shot goes wide, being outside the optimum range of his pistol.
Tixylix strikes a strong blow on the cultist, while the drones laser rifle blast goes wide.
Viviane's sleight of hand trick and shot catches Raval off quard. What cuts deeper than the shot is her sharp words. She breifly reaches up to touch her hair, before a smile breaks out across her face.
"Here, is this better?" She quips. Around her raised hand a swirling blackness washes out an around her, obscuring Viviane's view of her haircut.
Raval casts Create Darkness in a 20 foot radius around her. Only PC's with darkvision will be able to see her, or anyone else inside the circle on the map.
She calls out to her recruits in abysal. "ထိုမိန်းမကိုသတ်ကြ။"
Abysal:
