Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh
|
No one accepted Pai's dagger, so she still has it. However, her damage is 1d3-1, so that will be pathetic at best. She's about to get desperate enough to help that she'll do it, though.
Can you hit an AC 10 to aid? Even if it is just +2 that a help. Plus, you have 53 hp to spend.

Haha. We're about to find out. On her next turn she'll go after the summoned one.
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh

The succubus pulls a crimson wand from the wrapped bundle and smiles wickedly. "I'm a lover, not a fighter," she shouts, again louder than necessary. "But I want to watch you burn!" She activates the wand and suddenly a sword made of pure flame appears in her other hand!
GM, Is she still holding her wand?
Should it be a possible sunder target?
Should Abaal or Yaiho grapple her while her hands are full? (Remember we only get one try at +4!)
If Abaal does go for the tackle he'll want to hand his sword off to someone. Pai? ;)
Thoughts?

Roger that. Fragile, unattended, magic twig on the floor!
As for leaving, I would rather press the attack against the succubus. Letting an immortal, teleporting, mass-murdering assassin who has seen all of our faces, and can change her own, does not sound like a recipe for long life to Abaal. Like a tiger whose back someone has fallen on I don't think we can afford to let her go at this point.
Angoldir

Then a grapple -> pin might work best, as she doesn’t seem to have anything to sunder. Best of luck.

And if we sunder all of the succubus' clothes first! No! No, I have to keep my mind on the mission.
| GM Jhaeman |
I know it's really tempting in desperate situations like this to take a "cooperative board game" approach and try to ooc strategize the best moves each PC could take. I don't mind an occasional suggestion, but I'd much prefer if we stay in character as much as possible and avoid both metagaming knowledge of each other's stats and ooc criticising of the actions a player takes. If you have advice or criticism, do it in character--then it's role-playing and (hopefully) less likely to cause real-life emotional reactions. Hope that makes sense--I know different groups handle this issue differently, but because we're all strangers I don't want anyone to feel picked on.
Pai Shecks
|
Abaal, you succeed on the sunder--nice! I calculated the hardness of her armor as 4 and having 25 hit points, so with the adamantine blade ignoring hardness, you have reduced the armor to just 2 hit points. It now has the broken condition which halves the AC bonus it provides her while doubling its armor check penalty to her skills.
HOORAY!!!!
We'll take what we can get.
Pai Shecks

@Dru: If you can get onto the altar, GM Jhaeman said he'd give a +1 to attack rolls for being on higher ground. It'd possibly mean using Acrobatics, but worth considering, since we ladies are whiffing all over the place back here.

Congrats! Although, I'm thinking a web cam ceremony, and reception is probably going to be a bit awkward. At least you have the cruise ship to look forward to. Oh wait.... :o

Congrats! May your nuptials go off without a hitch and all involved stay healthy, happy, and...(shucks, I need another "h" word...)
Well, the sentiment is sincere, anyway. Even if it's poorly composed.

Here is wishing you a fantastic ceremony and celebration. It is nice to hear people going on with life. It seems like time has stopped here. Anyway, that is wonderful! Congratulations!
This is the second wedding I have heard about this weekend. A co-worker of my wife has a son getting married in Arkansas. It must be contagious...like a virus (but in a nice way).

That's the formal ending, but please feel free to do any wrap-up RP you like. Thanks for the session, and persisting through a *really* tough battle. You'll all be experienced demon-slayers in the future, I'm sure. Okay, some housekeeping:
1. Please make sure you've marked off consumables--there were a lot of potions, wands, scrolls, etc. You may need to scroll through your posts in Gameplay to note what you've used.
2. If you haven't already done so, now's the time to roll a Day Job check and to let me know if anything else should be on the Chronicles. I asked for this several weeks(!) ago when I thought we were nearly done, so you may have already done this.
3. Conditions that need to be cleared. I think we have two (Abaal's negative level and Angoldir's death). Please let me know if there are others.
* Abaal, you could pay for a restoration now to remove the temporary negative level, or take the chance on getting rid of it for free with a Fortitude saving throw--if the save fails, you'll have to pay for the more expensive removal of a permanent negative level.
* Angoldir, you have a raise dead to pay for and two permanent negative levels that will require two of the expensive restorations to clear. (Negative levels can be carried over if you don't want to clear them now.) You can use the wealth that will be coming from this Chronicle (1 PP & 2252 gp) towards that cost. Allies can contribute gold but not Prestige to help you out.
Once we get all that sorted, I'll do the reporting and start filling out Chronicles.
Grunyak
|
Grunyak's choice to cast the magic circle of protection over the heal spell weighs heavy on his mind. Grunyak feels he should have and probably could have saved Angoldir if he had fought better or smarter. He feels he owes Angoldir his life, but unfortunately that is a debt that he can't ever really pay. He will gladly give 1000g to help offset the spell payments needed to restore Angoldir.

Dru has some beer money to spend for Algodir too (1684 GP. She drinks a LOT of beer.)
Bought at the start of the adventure
20 cold iron arrows
4 Vials of holy Alcohol (We Caydenites don't use Holy Water)
2 Tanglefoot bags
Used
one CMW potion
One Holy Alcohol vial (see above)
A few CLW wand charges (now 30 left) (Using two charges of my wand on Abaal, if GM don't mind, and a few on whoever needs it, feel free to roll (30 charges left after Abal and me, and I'm back to full HP, 21 February post)
One tanglefoot bag
Dayjob, Prof Bodyguard: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

If I didn't do it first thing, here it is.
craft (calligraphy): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
3. Conditions that need to be cleared. I think we have two (Abaal's negative level and Angoldir's death). Please let me know if there are others.
Done, but I haven't looked up the difficulty. If anyone has a resistance spell they could cast that would be nice.
* Abaal, you could pay for a restoration now to remove the temporary negative level, or take the chance on getting rid of it for free with a Fortitude saving throw--if the save fails, you'll have to pay for the more expensive removal of a permanent negative level.
It's not called fantasy adventure role-playing because it's safe. Besides there are other things to spend it on, like:
* Angoldir, you have a raise dead to pay for and two permanent negative levels that will require two of the expensive restorations to clear. (Negative levels can be carried over if you don't want to clear them now.) You can use the wealth that will be coming from this Chronicle (1 PP & 2252 gp) towards that cost. Angoldir, how much did you need?
Angoldir
|
Alright, so the resources Angoldir currently has (including from this Chronicle sheet) are:
- 10 + 1 = 11 PP
- 1835 + 2252 = 4087 gp
Per the Guild Guide, he can have raise dead cast on him for either:
- 16 PP
- 8 PP + 2450 gp
- 5450 gp
Assuming he takes the second option (PP + gp), that would leave him with:
- 2 negative levels
- 3 PP
- 1637 gp
Per the Guild Guide, he can have restoration (to remove a permanent negative level) cast on him for:
- 4 PP
However, we have a cleric in the party. Using a scroll of restoration (to remove a permanent negative level) would require:
- 1700 gp to purchase the scroll
- DC 8 caster level check from Grunyak to use the scroll
This is only slightly over Angoldir's budget and would require 63 additional gp (about 13 gp if split five ways). Of course, this also assumes that Grunyak rolls well enough on the CL check.
The second negative level can be cleared when Angoldir's next chronicle sheet (GM credit) is applied by spending 4 PP, so we don't need to worry about that one at this time.
I'm touched by everyone's generosity, but I cannot ask that anyone contribute. We could certainly look at options such as paying for raise dead with the third option (gp), which would open up the PP for restorations if the other players are so inclined.

No day job roll for Yaiho.
As for contribution to raise/restore, I'm more than willing to contribute.
Grunyak
|
If you want to go the scroll route, Grunyak will give it a go.
scroll DC8 caster level check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
No day job here.
3 uses of cure light wounds wands duly recorded on tracking sheet. Total charges left should be 28.
Edit: Well that just sucks! But it is on par for this scenario.
Grunyak
|
Grunyak, if allowed will use a reroll, on that. Player character Folio reroll.
scroll dc8 caster level check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Pai's dayjob roll is in the Recruitment tab. I deleted the following items that she consumed from her character sheet as I went along:
Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds (1)
Potion of Cure Serious Wounds (1)
She is willing to contribute 1000 gp toward getting Angoldir back up on his feet.
Angoldir

As Abaal and Yaiho have only stated their willingness to help and not a gp value, I am working under the assumption that they are willing to match Pai and Grunyak's donations of 1000 gp. This will need to be confirmed before proceeding.
With the combined donations, the available resources are:
- 9087 gp
- 11 PP
Using the money for raise dead makes the most sense narratively and mechanically to me, which would leave us at:
- 3637 gp
- 11 PP
- 2 negative levels
As Grunyak has offered to use a purchased scroll (and succeeded), that would bring us to:
- 1937 gp
- 11 PP
- 1 negative level
Angoldir could then use his PP to clear the remaining negative level right away, with a final result of:
- 1937 gp (+ day job)
- 7 PP
If this is acceptable to everyone, I would be most grateful.
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh

As Abaal and Yaiho have only stated their willingness to help and not a gp value....
Sure thing.
Abaal: Have 1,000 gp?
Leave 1,000 gp.
Angoldir: Need 1,000 gp?
Take 1,000 gp.
If this is acceptable to everyone, I would be most grateful.
Been there, done that (last adventure).

Would Abaal be willing to discuss the details of that experience with Angoldir? He has the Research Specialist boon that gets filled up by hearing stories of other Pathfinders' adventures. No spoilers if possible, of course.
Mechanically, I record Abaal's name, PFS number, and the described scenario on the boon.

Yeah. 1000gp is good from me.
| GM Jhaeman |
Okay everyone, your Chronicles are now available for download at this
link. If anything isn't right, just let me know and I'll get it fixed up for you (early next week, as I'm about to leave for the long weekend).
You'll notice on the Chronicle that one boon is crossed off--this was actually a negative "boon" that only applied if Avalexi managed to escape.
Thanks again for the memorable game, and I hope to see you all around in the near future!

Sure. 139009-9 The Haunting of Hinojai The Pathfinders traveled half-way around the world to investigate a haunted house. Abaal learned a pair of local languages before landing in Minkai. It's a pretty funny read, even if I do say so myself.
