"I can teleport inside if I can see where I am going, but the person Mr. Reed spotted may be a problem best handled by someone else. I agree that a distraction at the door is advised. I could wait near a window around the side of the building, though I will not necessarily be able to know when it is safe for me to enter."

Witch's Winter Holiday

The Pathfinders huddle in the pre-dawn gloom, discussing their options and forming a plan.

So it sounds like we have an Infiltration team and a Distraction team. The possibility for other teams certainly exists, but those are the ones that have been mentioned.

"Why are you all looking at me?" squeaks an indignant Droo.

Droo points her finger at the man inside and again at the Professor, wiggles her nose, and says a bit of mystical doggerel to cast a magical message spell-like ability.

"Testing. One. Two. Three. Testing. One. Two. Three. Is this thing on? Over. Are you receiving? Over." she looks at the Professor (who is standing next to her) to see if she can hear the message, as well as someone who is watching man through the window. "Well?" she just whispers normally. "Is it working?"

She and Vinegar are where ever they need to be to keep everyone in range.

I could assume that is a spell which she can cast multiple times, but knowing her, it could be an ability she can only use once per day. Hmm...

knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Does the Professor have any idea if Droo's Message spell-like ability is likely a one-time-per-day ability? Her result will help her (dis)believe Droo's reply.

After a pause spent staring suspiciously down her nose at the gnome, Professor Masaendri dryly replies: "...Yes. How many times per day can you do that?"

She makes no move to teleport into the building, having stated her reticence to do so until the figure inside is dealt with. She has no desire to go toe to toe with a no-doubt much younger man, especially since her spells are not calibrated for one-on-one confrontation.

I was sort of envisioning we do both. Vosk distracts the guy at the door, possibly putting him to sleep, whatever. We slide in behind, and if there's any trouble we're better positioned to do something about it.

If he sees Vosk's face, he will be capable of identifying us later. If we put him to sleep at the bar, we can tie him up and blindfold him and he wouldn't be able to identify any of us. We could also, depending on the flexibility of peoples' moralities, knock him unconscious with nonlethal damage and pour some liquor over him so anyone who discovered him would assume he had helped himself to the bar in the m8ddle of the night.

An important note - Molvil can only move herself via dimensional slide.

Also an important note - the glass of the window breaks line of effect for Droo's message.

Infiltration:

- Gorrig

Seeing everyone prepare for entering, Vosk sets about his own tasks. Pulling out a fine sheet of parchment, some wax, a seal, and some colored inks, he quickly fashions an official looking document. While the ink drys, he waits for the others to finish preparations. After exchanging nods, he heads off into the darkness.

After a few moments, the steady march of torchlight approaches the building. Holding it steadily aloft is a guard, striding confidently for the door. Despite an annoyingly familiar rotundness, you've never seen the fantastically mustached man before. The badge pinned proudly to his chest reads "Sergeant Addington."

Feet having delivered him to the door, and after a brief look to the side for any signs of Pathfinders, a meaty fist gently but firmly pounds on the door. "Riddonport Constabulary, open up," he demands. They better be quick!

"I must say, Constable, you're certainly an early riser," a half-orc answers Vosk. "Don't recognize you either. Must be new on the force. That why they're giving you the overnight shifts?" He chuckles to himself before continuing, "But what can I do for you, officer?"

Impressive. I must remember to praise Mr. Lazav for this performance. It appears to be quite effective. Assured that the guard is occupied, Professor Masaendri cautiously, quietly eases into her Dimensional Slide, disappearing from her spot outside the window, and reappearing just inside it. As quietly as possible, she unlatches the window and raises it so her colleagues can join her. How foolish of me. I should have done a Quick Study to switch out my spells. Color Spray would be far more useful than Grease in this situation.

Stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 2

Unfortunately, her inner monologue is a bit too distracting, so she doesn't realize until too late that the window is not opening quietly. Not remotely.

Vosk's intent here is to eventually try to get him out of the house on "business" for Vernisant. Failing that, distract him to aid the others or convince him he is an ally if he does hear intruders. Want me to roll bluff for every post, when you ask for it, you'll roll secretly, something else?

The half-orc wrinkles his nose as "Addington" leans closer. "Yes, the earl pays me," he says slowly. "Specifically, he pays me to guard this building." He squints, looking the wizard up and down. "But, uh, I might know a fellow with the, uh, skills you're looking for. Shall I show you to the back room to wait for-"

A harsh SSSSCCCRRREEEEAAAAACCHHH interrupts the pair as the Professor pulls a bit too strongly against the window frame. The guard hand instinctively reaches for his belt as the half-orc starts to turn towards the sound.

Professor Masaendri freezes in consternation and fear. Her mind swiftly ticks through her alternatives, settling on the only wise course of action. Leaving the window partially open, she uses her Dimensional Slide ability once again to exit right back out to the other side of the window, then cautiously treads around the corner of the building so the guard cannot easily spot her. With luck, the guard will assume the perpetrator is in the room, hiding in the shadows.

Hon, the sound very clearly came from the interior of the building on the front side (red window). Also something to keep in mind is that sleep takes a full round to cast, and spellcasting is a rather obvious act (barring a specific feat).

The guard turns toward the window and spots the professor with her hands still on the frame. "Intruder!" he bellows, his hand grabbing a whistle at his belt even as Molvil slides out of the building.

"What in all the hells?!" The Professor is taken quite off guard by the playful puppy attack (despite Droo's warning), but regains her composure quickly enough to shoo Vinegar away from her. "Down! Pestiferous canine--go lick the obstreperous one and leave me be!" Of all the ridiculous--NO! I refuse to play that stupid game.

Huffing in irritation at the host of failures this group has executed (herself included), she casts Mage Armor on herself and moves closer to the guard. Perhaps the sight of an old woman will give him pause. If not, he is obviously of questionable moral character. ...My, what an interesting set of experiences this mission has been thus far. At least I am not bored. Her musings turn sardonic, and would continue in that mode but for the imperative nature of their current engagement. Instead, she forces her mind back to focus on the task at hand.

Bocke's arrow whizzes past Gorrig's ear and sinks deep into the guard's neck. Blood sprays the monk, but the other half-orc remains on his feet.

Botting Theld

Theld pries himself from his station next to the building, a purple-and-grey cloak of nothingness pulsing from him to cover the moon-soaked grounds. It twists away from the Pathfinders, but doesn't spare the guard...

Out of Initiative!

As suddenly as the night erupted into violence and loud noises, everything falls quiet once more.

What do you do?

I was hanging back and waiting to see if the guard went down, planning to attack with a blade, but this works just fine.

Theld walks up and observes Bock's efforts to save the guard. He then looks at the now wilted and dying shrubs which were unable to withstand the entropic onslaught. He allows himself a small smile of satisfaction. After a moment, the soldier steps over the pair without concern and into the building.

Vosk's invisibility fades and he rounds the corner. Whatever color his face harbored quickly heads out to sea. "INSIDE!" he orders, scooping up the whistle and tossing it into the house.

"Anyone with water, wash the blood off the porch before it sets. I bet it will only be moments before others come after that whistle blast. Gorrig, tie the Half-Orc up, if he stirs, show him your boot. Everyone else try and get into that backroom," he continues, pulling a new wand from his bag. Once the guard is sufficiently subdued, he taps it to the wound and it slowly begins to close.

With catlike reflexes, Vosk grabs a newspaper off of the nearest table and rolls it up. Swatting at Droo's face, he tries to take the whistle from her. "No! Bad! Bad Droo, bad! Droooop it!" He points at the floor with authority and looks seriously at the Gnome. We'd be so f~$#ed if it wasn't for me.
