Season 9 Players Guide

Will an orc pose too many RP problems? He is a one eyed Paladin of Torm, reformed from his Gruumsh loving ways. I can switch to H-Orc if needed.
GM Infinity
From the city's perspective, orc is likely to not be so shocking...though it is overwhelmingly human like most of the Moonsea. Mulmaster is a neutral evil city. Its patron god is Bane, the Faerun deity of hatred, tyranny, and fear.
What is shocking in Mulmaster is arcane magic. There is an edict against it and if you are caught, there's some consequences.
For more on that and a brief rundown of Mulmaster more relevant to this adventure than the Faerun wikis, check here.
GM Infinity
That's right, its by class. But its contingent on witnesses, and whether or not those witnesses report...then whether or not the enforcers arrest the right person, etc etc etc.
Its really just a fluff reason to think outside the box for some problems. You can conceal casting with a bonus action deception/sleight...hide it or pretend to be a cleric etc.
After 1 AL module here you can get a badge that allows you up to 3rd level arcane casting (by joining the Cloaks for a 3 downtime day cost).
GM Infinity
Yeah, Dark Sun style a bit. When the party has both Cloaks (who swear oath to narc out spellcasters) and non-Cloak casters it probably gets really tense. When entering the city for the first time, you also have the option to declare that yes, you are indeed, an arcane spellcaster. I'm not sure we will RP out a scene like that, so just have your decision on that score ready.
Nefaerieous
So the future arcane trickster rogue is gonna fit in juuuuussst fine. Just checking in, wanted to see what's going on, will read up and get caught up and convert Io back to first level (I've played him before in a tabletop campaign).
I'm guessing there was discussion elsewhere for Greycastle to get that nice list together. Anything I missed?
Also glad to be back on Paizo!
GM Infinity
Heya, go ahead and dot-delete gameplay so you get updates in your campaign list. Just post "asdf" or whatever then delete (and confirm). You can then check the players tab and verify you are on it.
Might have first gameplay post up tomorrow, but more likely Monday. Will see how soon all are ready.

Anyone interested in working in connections to our characters? Patrons from Eberron is great example of giving a rag tag group some motivation toward a common goal. Though that could take some coordination. Even just a couple of us having a common backstory element could be helpful.
.Mender
I'm actually a solder in the forces of Heaven. I serve Naralis Analor, the Elven deity of healing and life. I was sent as part of a task force to the Realms when word was reached of a breach by infernal forces.
Clerics work off of faith, but beings who serve in the angelic host have knowledge, not faith, since faith always encompasses an element of the unknown, and when you can literally buy your deity breakfast, they're not an unknown quantity. Thusly, Angels enter into pacts in exchange for power, and thusly I'm a warlock.

Tere, if this was just a normal game I'd say sure, but since its AL we have to follow the rules a bit closer. Mishakel is a Dragonlance god and therefore not on the allowed list of deities. Similar FR gods might be Sune or Chauntea.
The list is in PHB appendix B, and you must choose one from the Forgotten Realms OR non-human deities. There are also some in the later sourcebooks that are allowed. Another contraint is if you choose one that's really far out and doesn't have listed domains, only the Life domain is available.
Sort of crazy strict for no reason, but that's how it is. If you want to mark for example Sune on your sheet, then in game say its Mishakel and RP that way, I see no problem with that. ;)
Giuseppe di Firenze
Giuseppe sees no problem with traveling with an orc. In fact, offering respect, regardless of race or creed is kind of baked into his background. I am also fine with knowing some (or all) of you already. Though he is fast, Giuseppe often bites off more than he can chew, so it would make sense that perhaps some of you may have bailed him out in the past... what do you all think?
Sir Gorum
As far as profile tags go, those are for you...so just put whatever is helpful for you (or leave blank). I will have everything I need elsewhere (on a little spreadsheet I'm making atm).
Awesome. I play mostly on my phone and I am not capeable of editing my profile on mobile. I will probably just put some static info on it for reference.
Giuseppe di Firenze
Thanks! I made that template on Google docs and use it exclusively now. I was always fascinated by the format of the old pregens that WotC had, and this was the closest I got. I also commissioned a portrait for Giuseppe which I will hopefully have up in a week or so.

I think that I will forego the Inherited Malevolence, but am looking for a suitable language and a trinket.

That is what I was thinking. Most of the FR gods are skeef to me. They dont have the flavor of DL gods in my opinion.
Giuseppe di Firenze
If you aren't a cleric, I don't think it matters all that much... We could even say that you are from Krynn, and somehow you ended up in the Realms... maybe?
Sir Gorum
A simple plane shift spell gone wrong.
Are we outside the club heading in I’m assuming? are we all just looking to unwind? I could be someone’s body guard possibly. Ionis is a noble, maybe his family has business ties here. Just spit balling here.
GM Infinity
Thanks Quen, will review shortly.
And you're good Steven, you can pretty much just build a normal 5e 1st level character as you normally would. The players guide has a step by step process you can follow. Don't worry about making mistakes or asking questions. Just take a shot at it and we'll help. :)

Ok awesome. I played pfs for years, and ran a lot of games on here too. I’m experienced in pbp and how organized play changes things, so I’ll review the guide when I get home and then generate her scores and stuff. For now, here’s her backstory for people who love rp:
As She grew up, she became obsessed with the other races of Faerun, and their cities. She would often be found shirking her duties at the monastery in order to explore nearby cities and villages, Baldur's Gate in particular. She spent countless hours in the marketplaces in Baldur's Gate, exploring the back alleys, meeting as many people as she could, and buying trinkets from dwarves, halflings, gnomes, and anyone else she found interesting. It was one fateful night that she was doing this exact thing when a group of Drow raiders from the Underdark, mistaking the Shadar Kai for moon elves, attacked the monastery for slaves and plunder. Shae came back the next morning to a building full of dead bodies, blood, and silence.
The monks had fought bravely, killing many of the drow and their slaves (including bugbears, orcs, and goblins), but were ultimately defeated. As Shae explored the silent building, she found no survivors, only the brutality of the Drow and their minions. She went from room to room, finding nothing but bodies and blood. Everything of value had been taken, the women raped, and anyone young and able bodied captured. She found the body of her mother surrounded by dead drow, all slain by the skilled monk and her staff. She found no trace of her father.
She buried her dead family, burned the bodies of the raiders, and then left the monastery, taking her mother's staff and vowing to never again return. She forsook her family's surname, believing herself unworthy of it. She initially tried to find any trace of the raiders, to try and rescue any survivors, or at least exact her vengeance on the drow, but she found nothing. Lost of any purpose, she floated from town to town after that, doing small jobs here and there for food and board, until she was approached by a town guardsman in Baldur's Gate about a bounty that they needed done, but didn't have the manpower to complete. A murderer had escaped the day before his execution, and fled. They believed he had assistance, and was on his way to Waterdeep. They didn't have the numbers to send anyone after him as they had other, more pressing issues to deal with, so as usual they turned to adventurers. Shae completed the mission, hunting him down in the wilderness on his way to Waterdeep. and brought him back alive, so that his sentence could be carried out. As she watched his head roll, she finally felt a sense of relief, and for once felt like she'd done something worthy of her family name. It was then that she discovered a purpose for her life. She became a bounty hunter, seeking out criminals, raiders, murderers, anyone she deemed worthy of execution. She would use her skills, passed down to her by her family, to rid the world of evil, one bounty at a time, until she felt worthy of returning home.
Also how long are these adventures? Are they like pfs scenarios or longer? Idc either way, just wondering and learning.

Slightly longer than PFS, perhaps twice as long or more. I also am of the opinion that AL is quite different than PFS in overall feel and approach. They are much more like a normal game.
With Shadar-kai, you will need Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes to be your +1 if I'm not mistaken. This means certain options from, say, Xanathar's Guide to Everything are not open to you (for example certain monk monastic traditions).
Giuseppe di Firenze
Thankfully, Way of the Shadow is a PHB class. ;)
Giuseppe di Firenze
Except the race, which is in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, as DM Infinity mentioned. But you should be fine! This will be an interesting group!
Hahaha, I have to get used to changing to my alias... >.<

It’s no secret to any companions that’s Shae’s main motivation for going into places like this is to hunt a target. Therefore GM, if it fits the rules and your ok with it, for her to make sense on starting a game she’s with the group going in the tavern because one of the people she’s hunting may be inside.

She’s lawful neutral, so either alive or dead is fine. It depends on the mark. Usually I just throw a name on it and let the DM work it in, and it’s usually negligible to the plot after the first introductions.
If you wanna make t up, go for it; if you want me to, let’s say she’s hunting a half elf named Jorrus Kresh who’s on the run for the murder of a jewelry merchant and robbery.
Shae mainly works in Baldur’s Gate but will travel to other cities if the price is right.

Quote:somehowSpelljamming, of course. :)
Or maybe he is one of the True Clerics that got taken before the First Catalsym to the Lost Citadel and got left somewhere else :)

From DnDBeyond sheet, just hit the share button near the top and paste the link.
I just said Spelljamming as a joke, because well...it always has been at our table. Mentioning it usually entices a barrage of snickering. Not that it isn't awesome. :) Planning a 5e Spelljammer adventure sometime in the distant future here.
