"I figured you might be considering salvage. I mentioned as much to the Stationmaster, who did NOT seem fond of the idea." He shrugged one shoulder. "I'm neutral on that either way." He nods by way of hello. "Hello, Hamster. Hello, Eschade. Hello, Lyrr. You can call me Adrius."

He looks around the well-appointed medical bay. "Quite an unusual place, isn't it? But something about it makes it seem ... like a museum piece, not a lived-in space vessel. Everything's so very clean. Where is the evidence of the crew?"

Engineering: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 Adrius indicates the door with the keycard. "I don't know if I could fake a keycard, but you all could try shutting down the power, might free up access to the locked interior doors."

Human Soldier 1 | S: 0/8 H: 0/11 R: 2/4 | EAC: 15 KAC: 17 | F: +3 R: +3 W: +2 | Init: +7 Perc: +0 | Conditions: Unconscious, Stable Cannon +5 1d10

"Adrius, is it? Well, welcome aboard. If you're willing to pitch in, we're welcome to have you."

He looks about the room, really taking stock of it for the first time. "Yes, it is very pristine, other than the engines dying. It is enough to wonder if it was ever crewed at all. We've yet to find any evidence of a crew."

As Lyrr searches the medical bay and Adrius begins looking over the door, he starts singing under his breath as he looks the room.
"I'm with you once more under the stars
And down by the shore an orchestra's playing
And even the palms seem to be swaying
When they begin the beguine"

As Adrius opines that shutting down power might help open the door, he nods. "The engines are back that way. We can likely shut power down there. I'd rather try to find a keycard first, so let's keep that as a backup option. As for any possible salvage, we can reserve judgement on that until we have determined if there is an actual crew onboard."

Heading over to the South Eastern doors, he taps the panel that opens those doors and waits for what they reveal.

Lyrr takes some special interest in the prosthetic limb, examining it carefully for any hidden secrets.

I'm assuming that 'Reversible' means that it's usable for either arm.

As they examine the device, they greet the newcomer absently. "Good cycle. It is a pity that you turned out not to be an A.I. That would have been more interesting, but I suppose that can't be helped." They look up at the Lashunta suddenly, as if a thought suddenly struck them. "Can it?"

Adrius frowns. "Er, no ... I don't believe so. I'm pretty much stuck being a non-artificial intelligence. I'm an organic intelligence. Is organic the opposite of artificial?" Adrius shrugs, never a fan of Common language classes.

"Ooh!" He points a blue finger up. "But I have very limited telepathy. Does telepathy work with androids? Shall we give it a try?" He looks eager for Lyrr to say yes.

Prosthetic limb:
This prosthesis replaces a missing limb. It restores functionality, but it is no more durable than and doesn’t otherwise function differently than a normal limb for your species. A prosthetic limb can replace one you’ve lost, or you can have a limb removed in order to replace it with a prosthetic. Alas, it doesn't seem to be very special beyond that.

You head across the entertainment room and open the southeastern doors. The room beyond is decorated in basalt, brass, and steel including metal lounge chairs around low metal tables. The walls and ceiling gleam with polished metal, except for tiny red and white tiles forming inset mosaics of elegant trees, their leaves countless tiny flames that light the room. Three recessed ceramic tubs with openings for massage jets sit empty in the floor, one big enough for several smaller humanoids.

Engineering check DC21:
You notice that the tiny flames come out of nozzles that look like they can expand to form bigger jets.

"No," Lyrr replies, rather abruptly, as they put some distance between themselves and the lashunta, turning their attention to the new room.

"If it is ... then it's only for a very specific type of clientel, I'm thinking." Adrius doesn't show any outward disappointment about Lyrr's behavior; he's seen this sort of thing before.

"Still, unless it was on its way to pick up its first-ever passengers ... there should be some evidence of the people who were on board. Crew? Maybe we just haven't gotten to that part of the ship yet."

”Well met Adrius!” Eschade smiles primly, but says nothing beyond that.

”Perhaps the crew never made it aboard and the vessel itself is more of a...distress signal...” Eschade offers, gazing with a wistful yearning at the massage and hot-jet tubs.

”I think we should definitely claim this vessel...” she murmurs, following the others.

Leaving the hot tub room for the enjoyment of whatever other creatures there are here on the ship, you move on. You open the northwestern door to enter a long room that looks to be a combination galley and dining room. A wraparound grill occupies the center of the room, designed for the cooks to stand behind while diners sit at the surrounding brass bar and watch their food being prepared. Brass cabinets line the walls, along with two culinary synthesizers and doors to port and forward. Several of the cabinets have been broken open, and cooking utensils are scattered across the floor. Above, twin almond-shaped domes show the stars outside.

DC7 perception:
You hear giggling coming from the grill...a bit odd....but, giggling.

"Well, something has certainly been in this room.... and appears to be hiding in the grill there."

Raising his voice, he calls out from the doorway. "You in the grill! Are you a member of the crew? Show yourself."

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Adrius steps through the doorway, quickly stepping to the side to leave enough room for others to enter, and drawing a very small ivory-colored metallic firearm from its holster. He gives a quick glance to see if there's any good places to be stealthy. Doesn't seem like it, unless one could hid behind one of the serving bars.

Turning back to Eschade, he asks, "Were you the one earlier who warned about fire creatures on the loose? I wonder if this could be another one?"

"Yea, that was me." Eschade nods. She looks at the implement in question.

"In the grill? Seems appropriate...."

Just to be sure, she stands still and levels her sidearm at the cooking area.

The giggling doesn't seem to have a reply, save to continue its giggling. Adrius can pinpoint the location of the giggling, and points to two different grills, neither of which would fit anything within them larger than a tiny creature.

If either of the grills have something that can be opened to reveal a creature hiding inside, I'd like to use psychokinetic hand to open the one closest to the group.

Adrius removes the grill grates, which can be taken off for cleaning. Nothing flies out to jump at you, but the giggling ensues.

Human Soldier 1 | S: 0/8 H: 0/11 R: 2/4 | EAC: 15 KAC: 17 | F: +3 R: +3 W: +2 | Init: +7 Perc: +0 | Conditions: Unconscious, Stable Cannon +5 1d10

Grumbling under his breath about invisible flame demons who like practical jokes, Hamster decides to walk around the room, scanning for anything of value.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 2

If he makes it through the room unmolested, he'll head to the western door and prepare to open it.

"May as well keep moving. If the thing wants to play a prank on us it will, whether we are prepared or not.

Come to think of it, why to creatures who live inside a star need grills?"

"A perfectly valid question. I suppose this place is for the rich upper-crust fire creatures who live inside of a sun."

Adrius follows after Hamster.

Hamster walks in, on guard and expecting something awful and hot, as he'd seen with the majority of this ship so far. Of course, as he does, the giggling ensues, until three little creatures leap out of the grills to attack!

These things are obviously at least partially made of fire, and they resemble tiny lizards with onion shaped heads. They hiss as they approach.

Initiative lizards: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Initiative Adrius: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Initiative Hamster: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Initiative Lyrr: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Initiative Bal'Nek: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Initiative Eschade: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

The little lizards leap at you, jumping on you and slamming away at you with tiny, flaming paws. One jumps on Adrius, and the other two leap at Ham.

Now, as far as I know and understand, since these are Tiny creatures with no reach, they have to enter your space to attack. That being said, you get an AOO if you threaten with natural attack or melee weapon...though I think you both have ranged weapons out, so probably a no.

Tiny:
Very small creatures take up less than 1 square of space. This means that more than one such creature can fit into a single square. A Tiny creature typically occupies a space only 2-1/2 feet across, so four can fit into a single square. (...) Creatures that take up less than 1 square of space typically have a natural reach of 0 feet, meaning they can’t reach into adjacent squares. They must enter an opponent’s square to attack in melee. This provokes an attack of opportunity from the opponent. You can attack into your own square if you need to, so you can attack such creatures normally. Since they have no natural reach, they do not threaten the squares around them. You can move past them without provoking attacks of opportunity. They also can’t flank an enemy.

Slam Adrius: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Slam Ham: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Slam Ham: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Hamster is able to wear the blows of the tiny creatures without actually getting hurt, but the one on Adrius finds a weak spot, and does some damage.

Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Everyone's up!

Realizing he can't shoot his gun in close proximity, Adrius draws a short tactical baton from its place on his belt and attempts to use the sudden change of weapon to his advantage.

Trick Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
Attack roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

If he can 5-foot step to the north directly, he'll do so.

"Ouch! A little help here?" he says to the various people standing at the doorway.

In Starfinder, it seems that the Guarded step is a move action. Since drawing the baton is also a move action, you can't do both. You can definitely draw and attack though.

Adrius swiftly draws his baton and whacks at the little beast upon him. His subsequent hit nearly cracks the creature flat, and it seems more than a little woozy.

I don't think I am in a threatened square, since they are Tiny. I am not sure if there are any penalties to shooting from an adjacent square.

Watching for the inevitable, Lyrr takes aim a ray of ice at the little creature attacking Adrius

Energy Ray vs. EAC: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Cold damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

Bal'nek moves up to swing at the little creature on Adrius. His solarian blade slashes across and cuts the creature into two segments as his blade narrowly misses opening Adrius's skin instead.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Ham and Lyrr fire away, but the darting creatures are nearly impossible to hit as they frantically dart about, giggling.

Eschade is still up!

Eschade shoots at one of the lil grillers.... and near blows her other hand off...

Pew; Pew!!!: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 21d6 ⇒ 1 [+1 Dex]

After Eschade's shot goes awry, the little creatures once again leap at Hamster and Adrius, trying gleefully to bash the much cooler creatures. It seems as if they're merely attempting to sow mayhem.

Bash Ham: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Bash Adrius: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Adrius, you get an AOO as the tiny creature moves into your square.

Damage to Adrius: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Crit Damage to Adrius: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

I can't remember if we confirm or not in Starfinder, but the elementals have a critical effect for additional burn damage, as per below. Edit - no confirmation needed

damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Trick Attack dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Unfortunately, I don't think you can use the trick attack with an AOO since the trick attack is a full action.

As the little critter jumps at Adrius, the Lashunta swats at it in an attempt to knock it off, but the little creature takes the hit and still finishes its leap to land a fatal blow on Adrius, scorching his face in the process.

It's a bit ridiculous that this tiny beast can do that sort of damage in one hit, but I'm pretty sure it's calculated right. Sorry Adrius!

Hamster backs away and fires again, this time hitting one of the little creatures. It quite literally pops, sending goo spraying about.

Only one left!

Eschade’s eyebrows raise in renewed estimation of the causal life-flow, then seeks to bring the grill-pop’s to a resounding finis.

Pew Pew!!!: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 131d6 ⇒ 5

Eschade fires away, around Adrius, and the little critter falls off of the Lashunta, seemingly dead.

As you can now look around this room, you see that this is a very well set up kitchen, and probably has some items worth salvage - like maybe the culinary synthesizers built into the grills. They'd take a good 10 minutes to remove though.

DC15 Engineering or perception:
You notice that all of the open cabinets have latches on them to secure them during starship maneuvers. This suggest someone opened them after the ship's race from the sun.

10 minutes gives Adrius time to use Resolve to restore his Stamina, at least.

Retrieving Adrius' healing serum, Hamster applies it to the prone Lashunta.

Indeed! That's 1d8 HP back to Adrius. And, yes, 10 minutes to restore stamina would be good. Given that, you can remove and take the two culinary synthesizers - pretty cool items

Culinary sythesizers:

Culinary Synthesizer
This marvel of modern culinary preparation is a small cube with a control panel on one side and a hatch on another. Using chemical reactions combined with high pressures, a culinary synthesizer converts UPBs into edible foodstuffs, allowing you to craft normal food and drink without using the Life Science skill. Culinary synthesizers are the source of much of the mass-produced food consumed in the Pact Worlds.

A culinary synthesizer comes preprogrammed with a variety of simple meals. You enter the type of meal you want into the synthesizer’s control panel and add an amount of UPBs equal to the meal’s price into the cube’s transformation chamber; the synthesizer reconstructs the UPBs into the desired meal. More advanced culinary synthesizers can be programmed to create intoxicants and other food products (such as field rations and R2Es), as well as individual foodstuffs and ingredients, including analogues of animal products, vegetable products, spices, and more; this requires a number of UPBs equal to the final price of the food product or ingredient. You can then combine these foodstuffs and ingredients into full meals using the craft food or drink task of the Life Science skill.

A culinary synthesizer is a technological item that is usually plugged in to draw power from the local energy grid, but most models come equipped with a manual turn crank that enables them to function when not connected to an external energy source. A culinary synthesizer plugged into an energy grid can create a number of meals (or individual food products) equal to its level in 1 minute. When you power it using the turn crank, a synthesizer can convert 1 UPB into food for each minute that it is cranked.

The quality of food and meals a synthesizer can create depends on its model, as described below (see page 233 of the Core Rulebook for more information on food and drink).

Once Adrius is done catching his breath, Hamster heads to the western door and opens it.

Hamster hits the panel at the wall by the western door, and the door, after a pause, opens. Almost immediately, the force of a vacuum pulls Hamster against the wall just beside the door. Adrius and Bal'nek are pulled in as well, as the room beyond the west is apparently breached!

In the brief moment before trying to stop himself from hurtling into the room, Hamster can see within. This long chamber has bunk alcoves cordoned off by curtains embroidered with scenes of a city wreathed in flame. Some curtains have been drawn and snapped into place, but others hang unsecured. Beneath each visible bunk is a footlocker. The padded alcoves look plush and comfortable, but contain no linens and appear to have never been moved.

Decompression hazard! Please give me a DC12 reflex save or take 3d6 Bludgeoning damage for being slammed ito the port wall. If Hamster fails the save, he'll go into the room, as well, which is working like a vacuum right now.

Nope, you and Lyrr were outside of the radius, since you were by the door. If you are going to walk closer, you'll have to make a reflex save unless you do something to stabilize yourself. Like, if you just go against the wall, you can't fall further into the wall, or if you tie/anchor yourself to something.

Bal'nek yells out against the sound of rushing air. Ham's hurt! Someone get over here and help me get him out of there!

The burly Vesk indicates the room beyond, waving you over.

Here's the deal - you have to get Ham out of there somehow, you figure. Since he's out cold, Bal'nek will have to either go in there, or hold someone who goes in. For that, you need something to use as a tie/anchor...ideas?

Any way/roll to do this (I also can cast psychokinetic hand) GM?

Then she addresses Lyrr, indicating the spotlight.

”Hold this in place - I will tie this other end around my waist, and thus secured, go in after the others.” Eschade waits for Lyrr to confirm.

I'd suggest using Bal'nek to hold the light, and be your anchor - he weighs 280 lbs and has 14 STR. You can then tie yourself off and drift in to grab Ham. Then'you and Bal'nek can aid each others checks to get you out, please Lyrr and Adrius can aid to pull on the cable line from the galley.

If Ham were awake, the psychokinetic hand would be the best! You could just have it give the end of the cable to Ham, then you could all haul him out.
