At least I don't think she does. The only thing that might be relevant is this: "Reduce the DC for Engineering checks to identify technology and Mysticism checks to identify a magic items by 5, provided the item is a security system, surveillance equipment, or trap." But it doesn't seem to fit.

As the ship nears the coordinates provided by Venture-Captain Arvin, scanners reveal another vessel in the far distance. The enemy starship remains out of weapons range as the distance closes. Suddenly, the Loreseeker’s computer systems indicate an incoming transmission from the Devourer vessel.

If the PCs accept the incoming hail, of course you accept.

The head of a smiling, black-furred creature fills the screen. She steps back and holds a harness stuffed with an eccentric variety of engineering tools and portable scanners. With a big wave of her three right hands she says, “Hiya, nufriends! Hey, what are you doing out here by a big, black hole? My name is Ayoka. I like to take things apart but I REALLY like to put things back together. These Devourer people really like taking things apart. Right now, their ship is pretty much put together, but I’m just waiting for this Drift engine thingamabobber to spool back up. Since I got nuthin’ to do, I suppose I’ll talk to you.”

Ayoka can help you in battle, diplomacy gets her on your side for the ship fight. Other skills work like piloting, profession checks, etc, but you have to roll 3 higher.

She then goes into an escape pod and abandons the Jagged Maw, making them use their backup engineer.

Gava you already rolled just before I called for it, I was just thinking there were two gunners, one for each gun.
Gava takes out the enemy's front shields and deals 10 points of damage to him
Ziyass forgot to roll damage: 4d4 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 4) = 10 Okay, that total damage this round, reached the enemy crit threshold. which system: 1d100 ⇒ 20 and the enemy still has 20 points of damage on him
piloting heroes: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 heroes

I move first piloting enemy: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 = 10 to move backwards. Failure Pilot, gunner and engineers are up, Slide number 7

their gunnery checks: 9 + 1 - 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 9 + 1 - 2 + (8) = 16
their gunnery checks: 9 + 1 - 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 9 + 1 - 2 + (20) = 28 They shots apply assuming they actually do get a shot at you.
They only hit you once last round, taking out your front shields and dealing 1 point of damage, it would be wise to re balance shields, before this damage gets applied, oh, and your gunnery will obviously hit before theirs will.

Lounging at the engineering station, Taerem lazily cancels the ship’s automatic warning symbols relating to their damaged shields. Sighing the Kasatha looks away from their data and runs their four arm across the console, diverting energy from the ship’s power core away from non-essential lighting in the cargo bay and towards the shield generators. Unfortunately the shields fail to flare into life.
