Sammad can double up
To the other side, Flint delivers a devastating assault upon the red giant, breaking past his guard and tearing into his legs. With the icy attack proving extra effective, the red giant goes down with a tremendous crash!
The yellow giant attempts a final desperate blast from her cannon, this time enveloping Ordyt, Mari and Bel. The maneuver opens her up to retaliation (provoking from Bel and Ordyt) but still engulfs the trio. (20 electric damage to each, reduced to 15 for Mari thanks to her resistance)
Outside the transparent dome, you can briefly see a silver pod streak upwards at incredible speed before a tremendous gout of fire engulfs it from below. As the flames fade, you see a rain of silvery metal where the Chariot once flew.

With big red down, Flint offers a quick prayer of thanks to the burning mother and says, ”Mari, let me know where a burst of holy flame would be most useful to weaken this transmitter,” as he moves in to support the others against the yellow giant.

Determined to keep the pressure on the wounded giant still standing, Ordyt sidestepped to make it harder for her to watch him and Captain Conners simultaneously. But just as he draws back his arms to strike he spies the Chariot's dramatic, fiery fall, and his own blade falters.
Attack: 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 14 - 2 = 13 Damage: 4d4 + 16 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 1) + 16 = 23

GM Cellion |

Twin opportunistic attacks pierce and shock the remaining giant. No sooner has she finished blasting you all with her cannon than she falls with another great crash.
Combat Over (Though Flint if you want to immediately turn your supernova upon something, you still can)
With the giants dealt with, you can turn your attention to the situation outside the window. Orange light shines down across the landscape, illuminating columns of smoke rising from the area around the Spire. From this height, its all but impossible to tell how the fight is going, but you know from the Commander's terminal that much of the fighting between the rebels and the Legion has moved into the Spire's lower floors.
At the same time, you note that the skies are calm. There's no sign of the Chariots and their clash with the dragon. In fact, as you look around, there's no sign of the dragon at all.

Captain Flint Conners |

Flint will hold off on any explosions unless Mari gives him an immediate target that will help disable the device.
Mysticism: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
”Is this it? They psychic amplifier? asks Flint.

Marisol Welkin |

Engineering: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (19) + 23 = 42
No sooner have the giants fallen then Mari has begun her examination of the monolith. She gives Flint a grim nod, confirming his hunch. "Yup, this is it. Almost ready to fire again, looks like. I can probably disarm it if I'm careful, but just smashing the thing will probably set it off, which would be Very Bad."

Ordyt |

Rushing to the side of the transparent dome, Ordyt tries to get eyes on the dragon and see if any sign of continued resistance in the air.
”Whatever you’re going to do, do it quickly. I get the feeling time is running short.”

Captain Flint Conners |

”I have an idea, Mari. Could we perhaps let the wave continue, but change the nature of the pulse? Instead of terror and despair, make it one of resolve to defend home and prevail against the invaders?” suggests Flint. ”I daresay those of us here have that well-covered if you need a source,” he adds to them all, but his gaze is for Belmarniss.

![]() |

"I think we'd need a lot more anassanoi thinking those things to get that kind of change in the pulse, and those anassanoi are down under the Spire where our allies are fighting to free them. Let's see how this thing actually works before we try tampering with it."
Belmarniss steps forward and begins taking a closer look.
"Marisol? Ordyt? I'm gonna need your respective technical and magical expertise."
Engineering: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
Mysticism: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25

Marisol Welkin |

Mari frowns at Flint's suggestion. "Maybe, but I can't say I'm thrilled with the idea of us trying to use the Psychic Terror Machine for 'good.'"

Ordyt |

"And we can't hold onto it anyway--just turn it off! We don't know what further harms it might be capable of!"

Marisol Welkin |

Mari turns back to the machine, ready to work. "Right. Watch my back, yeah?"

GM Cellion |

While Bel starts getting to work, the short discussion happens to provide just enough of a gap that Mari spies something out of the corner of her eye - something she can only see thanks to the advanced processing of her exocortex! Rising up over the rim of the observation platform is a resplendent dragon with scales of red and gold. Puncture wounds and gashes dot her sides and wings, but she seems to be more than capable of powering through them. In fact, right now she seems to be fully ignoring them and staring right at you. The eastern doors into the observation dome slide open.

"Spread out, it'll breathe fire! Or Hells, maybe plasma..."
Casting See Invisibility then moving & taking cover.

GM Cellion |

I'll hold off on doubling Mari up for a day because of the significance of the encounter.
Ordyt recognizes the creature as a solar dragon. These proud outer dragons often see themselves as the origin of light and life in the universe. They can shine with a blinding light, are immune to fire but vulnerable to cold, resistant to nonmagical physical attacks as well as spells of all kinds, can channel positive energy to heal themselves, and of course breathe fire. Like most dragons, they are highly intelligent and capable of casting various spells.

![]() |

Belmarniss turns and gapes as the dragon arrives. Then she regains her composure and clenches her junksword.
"It's the dream of every true Knight to slay an evil dragon," she says grimly, realizing a childhood dream was about to come true in the worst possible way.

GM Cellion |

OK, Mari can take her extra standard action from the surprise round afterward.
The air around her shimmers with light, even visible to those who can't otherwise see her, before she unleashes another spell, this one much more offensive in nature. (She turns visible immediately after casting it)

Finally reacting to the dragon’s approach, Flint manifests his Solar scimitar as he engages his jetpack and flies off to the dragon’s side (in an attempt to scatter). Rising 15 feet or so from the ground as he goes to clear the equipment, he suddenly has an idea, his eyes simultaneously starting once again to glow with photonic energy.
Into the comms, he says, ”The dragon will likely not wish to damage the sensitive equipment here; perhaps we can use that to our advantage as it attacks…

![]() |

Belmarniss nods at Flint's statement, and ducks around the Resonator, dashing past Sammad and casting a spell to shift perception of her.
"Two can play at that game," she repeats. It wasn't quite the same as the dragon's invisibility, but deception could protect just as easily.
Belmarniss moves 30 feet and casts displacement on herself!

GM Cellion |

Oops, forgot one important thing when the dragon became visible...
As Nysteryx reveals herself, she begins to shine with an overwhelming, glorious light. Beholding the dragon in all its glory overwhelms eyes and mind in equal measure.

Oof, sorry guys. Weekends are tough to post on RN.
"Dragon!" is all Mari has time to shout before both her mind and eyesight fall under assault. Her exocortex overloads and shuts down before the magical spell can overwhelm her mind, but it can't do anything to protect her vision.
She staggers backwards, searching from cover from the dragon.
Surprise round: Combat Tracking
Reaction: Neural shunt to have the confusion affect my exocortex instead of me.
Double move to cover while blinded.

Ordyt |

Not sure what to expect, Ordyt advanced to the one of the terminal banks and takes a knee, quickly activating his bionanite implant to take the edge of the giants' blows in the last fight. "Alright team, if you've got any cards up your sleeve now's the time to play 'em!"
Move, take cover (+2AC I think?), activate nanites for a spot of healing and Fast Healing 2 for one minute.

Sorry GM, forgot that healing couldn't affect lost SP. Ordyt would instead have cast Reflective Armor and lamented that there isn't a Greater version of the spell.

Marisol Welkin |

Bel, if you're feeling generous and/or lucky, a dispel magic on me could remove the confused effect from my exocortex and give me back my weapon proficiencies.

GM Cellion |

Flint scores a single solid hit with his blade when he jets in. Mari's arcing pistol shot goes well off target, sparking against the transparent dome rather than her intended target. And Bel's dispel gets its hooks into the dragon's haste spell and pulls it apart, returning the dragon to a more reasonable speed.

Coughing back to consciousness, Ordyt feels the stickiness of blood on his chin but doesn't have time to do anything about it. Sammad's words of encouragement ringing in his ears, the oread reaches over to grab his rifle before sighting up at the enormous dragon brawling with Flint overhead.

Ordyt returns to consciousness and sends a very well aimed round at the dragon, only to find it glancing off her scales. Bel calls upon the same magic she used earlier, but she struggles without success to break the dragon's new transmutation.
