Bel's arcing blade bounces off the yellow giant's armor once, then twice, then strikes true on the third slash. The barrage of attacks is enough of a distraction for Ordyt and Mari both to get a solid hit in. The giant's reinforced armor absorbs part of the impact from each kinetic attack, and she remains standing after the assault, though only just barely.

To the other side, Flint delivers a devastating assault upon the red giant, breaking past his guard and tearing into his legs. With the icy attack proving extra effective, the red giant goes down with a tremendous crash!

The yellow giant attempts a final desperate blast from her cannon, this time enveloping Ordyt, Mari and Bel. The maneuver opens her up to retaliation (provoking from Bel and Ordyt) but still engulfs the trio. (20 electric damage to each, reduced to 15 for Mari thanks to her resistance)

Outside the transparent dome, you can briefly see a silver pod streak upwards at incredible speed before a tremendous gout of fire engulfs it from below. As the flames fade, you see a rain of silvery metal where the Chariot once flew.

Twin opportunistic attacks pierce and shock the remaining giant. No sooner has she finished blasting you all with her cannon than she falls with another great crash.

Combat Over (Though Flint if you want to immediately turn your supernova upon something, you still can)

With the giants dealt with, you can turn your attention to the situation outside the window. Orange light shines down across the landscape, illuminating columns of smoke rising from the area around the Spire. From this height, its all but impossible to tell how the fight is going, but you know from the Commander's terminal that much of the fighting between the rebels and the Legion has moved into the Spire's lower floors.

At the same time, you note that the skies are calm. There's no sign of the Chariots and their clash with the dragon. In fact, as you look around, there's no sign of the dragon at all.

Engineering or Mysticism DC25; Examining the dark crystal monolith:
You realize this technomagical device can be no other than the Psychic Resonator you're here to disable. A quick inspection of the device reveals that it's currently primed to trigger another psychic impulse within the bounds of Khalannal, which it will then capture and amplify into another wave directed out of the sun. Damaging the monolith would likely cause the already amplified psychic potential to go wild, but sufficient magical or technological skill may be able to defuse the existing pent up energy and disable the Resonator. This looks like a complex operation that would likely take at least 10 minutes to accomplish.

While Bel starts getting to work, the short discussion happens to provide just enough of a gap that Mari spies something out of the corner of her eye - something she can only see thanks to the advanced processing of her exocortex! Rising up over the rim of the observation platform is a resplendent dragon with scales of red and gold. Puncture wounds and gashes dot her sides and wings, but she seems to be more than capable of powering through them. In fact, right now she seems to be fully ignoring them and staring right at you. The eastern doors into the observation dome slide open.

I'll hold off on doubling Mari up for a day because of the significance of the encounter.

Ordyt recognizes the creature as a solar dragon. These proud outer dragons often see themselves as the origin of light and life in the universe. They can shine with a blinding light, are immune to fire but vulnerable to cold, resistant to nonmagical physical attacks as well as spells of all kinds, can channel positive energy to heal themselves, and of course breathe fire. Like most dragons, they are highly intelligent and capable of casting various spells.

Those of you who can't see her can still feel a blast of wind as she enters the dome. As she rises to a height of 20 feet above the ground she booms "This little uprising is creating unacceptable delays. Missed quotas on ship delivery. Setbacks in the Resonator project. And I have you all to blame for it. General Khaim may be understanding, but these are nevertheless blemishes on my otherwise perfect record. I hope you have readied yourselves for an appropriate punishment..."

I assume we'll get a Get 'Em from Sammad

Gripping his rifle tightly and breathing a quick prayer to Sarenrae, Ordyt follows his captain's lead and lets his jump-jets carry him forward and upward to strike at the dragon.
Attack: 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 14 - 2 = 26 Potentially another +2 for 28 total

Botting Sammad:

Ordyt boosts up with his jump jets, rifle bayonet at the ready to stab into the dragon's side. Nysteryx, spotting his approach, swings her tail around in a wide arc and smashes him from the side. (Crit for 59 bludgeoning damage) His reflective spell fires off, sending a pulse of force back at Nysteryx, but the dragon avoids most of it. His own stab, knocked off course by the tremendous blow he's just taken, scrapes along Nysteryx's scales and fails to pierce through.

The dragon booms "Foolish!" before diving down five feet to close her jaws around Ordyt. Teeth crush through his already weakened armor, piercing him in a half dozen places and sending him into a critical state! (Hit for 48 piercing damage and knocking him out)

Nysteryx moved 5feet down and away from Flint with a guarded step, so no provoking

Botting Sammad, Mari is doubled up.
With Ordyt down, Sammad calls upon the rest of the party to continue the attack on the dragon, and readies himself to rally Ordyt the moment he wakes. (Imp Get Em for +2 attack vs. Nysteryx, and readying to boost Ordyt for 34 SP by spending 1 RP. Interestingly, it has to be readied because inspiring boost is sense dependent)

GM Screen:
While the party rallies to Ordyt's aid, Nysteryx takes the opportunity to back off, escaping from Flint's reach. (provoking an AoO) Once she has some breathing room, she casts another spell, once more massively accelerating her speed.

Belmarniss takes Marisol's offered device and plugs it into her armor, a shimmering force-field beginning to emanate from it.

"Thanks, Mari," she says.

Taking the +2 to AC!

Then she turns her attention back to the dragon, glowering as she can sense the return of the magical currents she'd just dispelled.

"F*cking STOP THAT!" she barks before repeating the gestures and incantations to dispel it again.

While the dragon gets away from Flint without taking so much as a scratch, Flint's follow up charge blasts into the dragon's reach before she can get her tail into position to block him. He slices his icy scimitar into the dragon's hide, finding the attack somewhat abated by some invisible force protecting the dragon but still very effective!

Meanwhile, Mari delivers a miraculous short-term augmentation that enhances Bel's armor. Ordyt returns to consciousness and sends a very well aimed round at the dragon, only to find it glancing off her scales. Bel calls upon the same magic she used earlier, but she struggles without success to break the dragon's new transmutation.

Nysteryx snarls with fresh anger at the unexpectedly icy attack from Flint, then lunges for him. He dives down to evade her jaws, only to end up exposed to both claws and her devastatingly powerful tail. (Two hits and crit, dealing 30 dmg, 54 dmg and 25 dmg after DR. That'll knock Flint out unless I missed something important) With Flint falling slack, Nysteryx flies with blinding speed over him and to the south end of the room where she lands within biting and clawing range of Mari.

Nysteryx moves with arcane alacrity to dodge most of Bel's arcing surge. Much of the lightning that does strike her seems to just get absorbed by some force surrounding her. The dragon pauses for just a moment after dodging, providing a split second in which Ordyt and Sammad send in a trio of perfectly aimed attacks. Ordyt's slug enters the dragon's mouth, while Sammad's ice and disintegration beams strike her face. The frosty beam gets completely abated by the same force that protected Nysteryx from the arcing surge, while the acid attack strikes the dragon in her left eye.

Seeing through her good eye, Nysteryx spots the perfect line the party has aligned themselves in. Rearing back, she breathes out a white hot lance of flame! (I will assume Mari repositioned on her turn and doesn't get caught in the same line as the rest)
