This recruitment thread for Gameday VIII game. This is not listed as first-come-first-served since I expected both parts were going to be played by the same characters. There are two other FCFS tables on the signup sheet.

Forged in Flame 1 & 2 Recruitment (Tier 5-9 Standard)
I will run tier 5-6 or tier 8-9 depending on which we get the most PC's enrolled first.

If you are interested in playing both parts with the same PFS character, please post here in the Recruitment thread.

I will run Part 2 for the Gameday. If you are selected for Part 1 then I am assuming you will have first dibs on a spot in Part 2.

Grand Lodge

interested with this character...will be lvl 6 at the start...in a game right now, but will be done by then...

Sovereign Court

I have 2 options at lvl 5 and can commit to both parts.

Rogue is signed up for another thing. Warpriest of Cayden Cailean is ready to roll.

Ok, looks like we will probably go low-tier, and can add one more PC (if my count is correct). So that may help to finalize your character choices from those available...

6 - Mykel Therinor
5 - Umberto Ricci (OG3)
5/7 neodam
5/7/8 Nathan Goodrich
5/5/7 Deevor
(open)

Last slot is still open for the next 5-6 to post.

From the look of it, probably end up going 5th level Paladin

Grand Lodge

Should we go with five players? I'd plan to bring my L7 melee cleric, which would leave the party kind of melee heavy. My cleric is a Caydenite, though, and playing with a Caydenite Warpriest is too good to pass up. (Plus none of my options are relevant in ranged combat anyhow.)

Should be a good time!

Sounds like fun. Wow, still over a month away.

I will still allow for a 6th to join. Especially if a non-melee joins. :)

I don't think a 7th level cleric is going to break the table since we have a few 5th levels. If we look something like this (subject to change I am sure).

Swash 6 - Mykel Therinor
Warpriest 5 - Umberto Ricci (OG3)
Barb 5? - neodam
M-Cleric 7 - Nathan Goodrich
Paladin 5 - Deevor
(open)

Grand Lodge

Especially since we're a month out, would it be possible to open the discussion tab so we can add this to our campaign screen?

Grand Lodge

My barbarian is now level 6.

Not even close. Even with the barbarian going to 6, our average is 5.8, and high tier isn't in the discussion until 6.5.

With the line-up as above, would you prefer my rogue 5, rather than a paladin?

Grand Lodge

Skills are welcome!

Grand Lodge

Yes , rogue

I will be flying home tomorrow

Do we have our final table?

Please update your characters and status lines and post the following for the PC you are bringing.

Player:

I will open the gameplay thread for dotting but I don't yet have the scenario so I cannot add the opening blurb.

Grand Lodge

Player: neodam
Character: Taman Hornraven
Character Level at start: 6
Pathfinder Society Number: 137484-8
Faction: Grand Lodge
Slow Track or Normal: normal
Day Job Roll: none

Grand Lodge

Player: Deevor
Character: Natty Grastik
Character Level at start: 5
Pathfinder Society Number: 12784-15
Faction: Grand Lodge
Slow Track or Normal: Normal
Day Job Roll: Profession(Cook) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Silver Crusade

Player: Nathan Goodrich
Character: Idruzi Zarshai
Character Level at start: 7
Pathfinder Society Number: 37150-12
Faction: Silver Crusade
Slow Track or Normal: Normal
Day Job Roll: Profession (Bartender): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Can we get a Discussion thread opened?

Shenanigans: no major shenanigans where my character does something completely unexpected. He can combine Ferocious Strike (Frenzy Subdomain) and Channeling Force (feat) to achieve some spike damage when he attacks. Travel domain gives him some abnormal cleric spells. His Silver Crusade faction journal card (season 8) is almost complete. Aside from that, just stuff off his chronicle boons, including some elemental-themed powers from one of them and some infused extracts from another.

The spell list in his profile is the default one. I'm planning to make some changes based on what the party wants and such, assuming that we can get it done before the scenario starts.

Grand Lodge

Player: Umberto Ricci
Character: OG3
Character Level at start: 5
Pathfinder Society Number: 175185-8
Faction: Grand Lodge
Slow Track or Normal: Normal
Day Job Roll: none

Shenanigans: Divine fighting style for Blade and Tankard. Umberto dual wields a tankard and mace to perform dirty tricks to enable his other party members.

Grand Lodge

Didn't add ...

Shenanigans: pretty normal rogue, using light mace, with bleed 3 on a successful sneak attack (+3d6) and +3 AC against that opponent. Is a scavenger so +2 to find hidden objects and traps. Has 2 weapon fighting.

Grand Lodge

ooh my dirty trick to blind will be awesome with Natty.

Looks like a couple weeks out and we have 4 solid players.
FYI - Mykel had to bow out.

CLR 7-Idruzi Zarshai
ROG 5-Natty Grastik
BRD 6-Taman Hornraven
WP 5-Umberto Ricci

Seems viable as a party. I would like to get 1-2 more since this is a two-parter and it will be harder to add another for part 2 if anyone has to withdraw.

FYI - I am still waiting for the scenario support to deliver the mods.

Thanks

GM Aarvid

Grand Lodge

ok

Dark Archive

If you still have room, then I'm interested with this character. Also this is my first ever pbpost-campaign so I'm kinda excited.

Player: Mustaparta
Character: Mörök
Character Level at start: 9
Pathfinder Society Number: 192672-3
Faction: Dark Archive
Slow Track or Normal: Normal
Day Job Roll: Profession (farmer): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Shenanigans: two-handed frontliner, can demoralize 1/day as a swift action, when current hit point total matches or exceeds his maximum hit point total, gains a bonus on Intimidate checks equal to 1/2 his cavalier level (+2), abnormal reach +5 ft when bloodraging, spells blade lash and magic missile, darkvision is 90 ft

Silver Crusade

My only comment is that adding a level 9 character would change the tier and possibly some of the characters we were choosing.

I did take this into consideration and the APL for five players is 6,4 if my math is correct.

I won't mind dropping out though.

Yes, you are correct APL is 6.4. I don't mind you playing with us but I am not GM.

Silver Crusade

I was getting 6.6. 6.4 would still be low tier.

9+7+6+6+5 = 33 / 5 = 6.6. Unless I got something wrong? Do we have two 5s instead of two 6s?

Edit: it looks like we do. I'm not sure where I got two 6s from. Still low-tier then.

Grand Lodge

Provided we don't hit the higher tier I'm OK with it.

Have we a face in the party?

Before we decide, One question I would have is whether anyone will level up after the first part, since that could push you high-tier for the second part.

Until that level-up question is settled, I am going to put recruitment on hold. I would not want to add a 6th if we do in fact run with a 9th level in the low tier.

Grand Lodge

If it is only 1xp, I will not level after part 1.

Grand Lodge

No level up for Taman after part 1

Silver Crusade

Idruzi is at the beginning of level 7.

He's an OK diplomat, but not an awesome one. His level being high for the tier might help a bit there.

Dark Archive

No levelup after 1xp, only recently hit 9th level.

Natty, I think you are the only one remaining. If you don't level after this, then we will run with the 5-person party, low-tier for both parts.

Pathfinder Adventure, Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Society Subscriber

Natty will go to 6th at the end of the first adventure, sorry!

But don't think it will take the group into the higher tier.

Grand Lodge

Deevor wrote:

Yes it will, APL will then be 6,6.

Ok so the decision is whether we run with the 9th level, part 1 low tier and part 2 high tier (not even 4 player adjustment) so could be rough. I am leaning against, but I have not read the scenarios yet, so cannot say how bad. Nothing against you Morok but it makes it a bit tricky. What about a level 7 pregen?

If there is a spot for part 2 open (i.e. someone drops or you run with 5) I'd consider joining the party. I've already completed part 1 for PFS credit.

I could bring either a Rogue/8 if you end up in high tier, or a Hunter/6 if you're in low tier.

Silver Crusade

Wouldn't we get 4-player at least? I thought that when you round up to 8-9 tier from APL 7, you always get the 4-player adjustment.

I'm not advocating for the change: APL 6.6 going to tier 8-9 is pretty sketchy even with the adjustment. I'd leave that decision mostly up to the lower levels though.

Idruzi Zarshai you are right. If we're going to play high tier then we will play with four-character adjustments.

Guide wrote:

Scenarios in Seasons 0 through 3 were designed for four characters. For these scenarios, if the APL is between subtiers, a party of six or seven characters must play the higher subtier. Parties with four or five characters must play the lower subtier.

Starting with Season 4, scenarios were designed for six characters and contained methods to adjust for tables with four players. When the APL of a table is between two subtiers (like APL 3 for a Tier 1–5 scenario), a party of four characters must play the lower tier without any adjustments for party size. A party of five to seven characters whose APL falls between two subtiers must play the higher tier with the four-character adjustments found throughout the scenario.

In the fringe case where there are no PCs that are high enough level to have reached the subtier level (such as a party of six 3rd-level characters), the group can decide to play the lower subtier.

But I am also against playing high tier. I think that we can say that we are in fringe case, because we will have just one high tier character in party. Because of that I suggest playing part 2 with APL 6.6 as a low tier.

Silver Crusade

There isn't a choice though. APL 6.6 rounds up to APL 7. If we went with that party (5/6/6/7/9) we'd be in high tier (4-player adjustment). We wouldn't be able to choose otherwise.

My personal opinion is that we have a choice because in the guide you have example where in 1-5 game party of APL 3 can decide to play the lower subtier because there is no PCs that are high enough level to have reached the high subtier.

I our case APL will be 6.6 (that is even lower then APL 7) with just one high tier player. So we are in worse situation then the group from guide example.

I have played 294 scenarios and I was many time in similar situation where the group has made decision.

But if we will play part 2 in high tier with 4 player adjustment I will try to finish one more scenario with this character before part 1 starts so that he will be level 7 in part 2.

Dark Archive

To avoid pushing you into high tier, I decided not to play part 2. There are still enough players for part 2 :)
