With one hand on the jutting stone Rodalas swings with his free hand but even with the elf's uncanny dexterity the feat still proves to be difficult as he misses.
Orym and Tanya. Your Turn

Orym Rednose |

Orym straddles the top of the well aiming an arrow down the shaft hopping to avoid Rodalas.
Bow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
His hesitation costs him missing both his ally and the snake.

DM Aumakua |

Not sure whose turn it is, but...
In combat when I make my post I will typically indicate whose turn at the end of my post in [ooc] [bold] whose turn it is.

Duncan Umber |

Looks like it’s the other snakes turn but after it attacks Duncan will Attack with his Pike.
Having two free hands now that the rope had slipped from his grasp, Duncan thrust his pike towards the snake in the well hoping to end it’s attacks on Rodalas.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

DM Aumakua |

The arrow hits off the edge of the hole just barely missing the snake. Tanya summons her magic and a mote of fire sails from her hand and hits the snake just as it dodges the arrow. The snake hisses as the fire splashes it.
The snake retreats into the hole attempting to hide away from all of you but Duncan's pike finds the snake and spears it in the hole. Rodalas hears the hissing stop.

Althea Wisk |

Althea looks at Duncan with newfound respect.
"Thine trident lacks sufficient tines, but thy skill with it is supreme... good job".
She then looks down the well at Rodales to see if he has been bitten and poisoned.
"Are you OK"?

Rodalas Windrace |

He gives a thumbs up to indicate he is okay
Can you lower me down please so that I can retrieve my short sword?

Duncan Umber |

Duncan's hands throbbed in pain. He looked down at them, swollen and red with slivers of rope piercing his skin. Removing a sliver with his teeth and spitting it on the ground Duncan turned towards Orym. "Perhaps you could support the rope for Rodalas. My hands seemed to have failed me today." Leaning over the edge of the well Duncan shouted down to Rodalags "Be careful brother! Procan would have you perish down there today! While you are looking for your sword see what else is down there that attracted us to the bottom of the well to begin with."
Cleaning the snake blood off his pike with a spoiled rag Duncan laughed at Althea "Ha! So it's just a Unident instead of a Trident? It appears I only need one to do the job of three."

Orym Rednose |

Orym helps with the rope for Rodalas.

DM Aumakua |

With Orym's assistance, both he and Duncan are able to lower Rodalas down into the well.
As your feet touch the bottom, Rodalas, you find the water to be about only one foot in depth. It is easy to find your dropped sword in the clear water. You also find some coins here as well.

Rodalas Windrace |

Correlon is with me he shoults back.
He tugs on the rope as an indicator to bring him up. Look, Erevan Ilisare must have been in the area. he says bringing up the silver pieces to share.

Orym Rednose |

"Strange. I thought such items were prized among your people. How did it end up in a well."

Duncan Umber |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Duncan looked disapprovingly at the coins held in Rodalas' hands. "14 Silver Pieces is it? Perhaps 14 wishes have been made in that well by children. IF...this house is haunted, stealing their wish money may curse us. I want no part of those coins. In fact I am going to throw my share back in."
Duncan grabbed the few coins of his share and dropped them back into the well.
"Right, now lets check out this house."

Tanya13 |

Tanya takes her meager share and remains silent as Duncan returns his to the well. Perhaps they are from previous wishes, but we won them from the defenders fairly. She slides the coins into her pocket and offers Crispin another bit of food. "Do you really think that the house is haunted? I mean, I've heard the tales, but I can't say that I put much stock in them."

Orym Rednose |

Utterly lost Orym looks oddly at Duncan and Rodalas. "Wishes?" He shakes his head confused and disapproving.

Duncan Umber |

Duncan turns to Orym "Yes wishes, people ask for things outside of their normal means and cast a coin into the well hoping it will come true. It's a silly gesture, when all one really has to do is dedicate themselves to a God as just as Procan and he will guide them to success. And for a few silver it's not worth it to me to anger any spirits that may lurk nearby."

Duncan Umber |

"Well we know the house is unlocked, let's see what lies beyond." Duncan heads to the door Rodalas checked and with his shield raised and warhammer in hand he opens it.

Orym Rednose |

Orym moves with the others toward the ouse.

DM Aumakua |

Duncan pushes open the door. Staring in you find the house to be in need of serious repair. It seems that almost everywhere walls are rotting covered with patches of mold. Fallen plaster litter the passage along with the shattered remains of furniture.
The house corridor is about 5 ft wide with the ceiling rising to no more than 10 ft. The passage is blanketed in shadows with the only light coming in from the opened door.
The corridor goes about 15 ft before it turns south. A closed door can be seen on the northern wall where the corridor turns.

Althea Wisk |

Althea turns to see if the others are following her in time to see Duncan brush past her and open the door. She simply shrugs, not really caring.
Walking in the place made her a bit nervous. She really didn't like dark closed in places to begins with, and this ones condition set her on edge.
1d20 ⇒ 4 Perception
She gingerly enters the room as the others crowd in, testing the strength of the floor as she treads forward.

Rodalas Windrace |

The elf makes the comment
Too bad we do not have a dwarf or a gnome with us. They are used to living in such dank locations he says with a smile.

Duncan Umber |

Staying quiet Duncan points at Rodalas and sends a mental message to him.
"Do you want to go scout this place out or do you want me to take the lead?"
Duncan Casts Message. Rodalas hears Duncan's voice in his head as a soft whisper and can respond in a whisper.

Tanya13 |

Tanya enters the house trepidatiously, being careful where she steps. In her right hand, she holds a small penknife, her left hand is empty. Crispin sits on her left shoulder.

DM Aumakua |

Rodalas move your token up to your maximum speed – each sq is 5 ft – and I will let you know what you see. Going forward what is the default action for the others when one party member scouts ahead?

DM Aumakua |

Moving around the corner, Rodalas you find the corridors leads to what must be the entry hall of this manor. Illuminated by the outside light the area is a mess with dust debris scattered about the floor.

Rodalas Windrace |

He will take a look around checking out the floor and ceiling and the walls.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Perception

DM Aumakua |

Examining the area Rodalas you do not see anything out of the normal. The house looks like it has been unoccupied for quite some time given the dust and the musty smell that fills the house.

DM Aumakua |

Moved Althea's token
Wondering what is delaying the elf Althea walks past everyone and turns the corner to Rodalas examining the floors, walls and eyeing the ceiling.
Three doors can be seen. All closed but intact. Ahead is the entry hall.

Orym Rednose |

"The green one does not hunt does she."

Duncan Umber |

Losing patience and shifting uncomfortably in his armor Duncan looks down the hall towards Althea "Psst! See anything? Is it clear to move up?"

DM Aumakua |

You all reconvene at the door with Rodalas reporting what he has seen and Althea confirming.
From what Rodalas and Althea say there are three closed doors along this hallway before it opens up into the front entry hall. A quick check did not find any of the doors to be locked.
No tracks can be seen in this passage and the entry hall does not look like has been used in some time from what could be seen.
Just a reminder there is a map with your tokens on it in the Ghosts 5e PC slides located in my header

Duncan Umber |

With his hammer and shield raised Duncan uttered "Well lets see what this house of horrors has in store shall we?." Duncan casts light on his hammer, then opened the first door on his right.
I moved Duncan's token inside the room.

Rodalas Windrace |

He mumbles under his breath as the cleric moves past I wonder how many childhood dreams he will bring to an end with his hammer, like the childhood dream of life he says with snark.

DM Aumakua |

Althea
Althea moves into the entry hall and finds it to be an empty and dirty entrance hall. To the right, a corridor leads into the west wing of the house. The walls are bare and bits of smashed furniture lie upon the floor.
A staircase on the eastern wall climbs to the next story, reaching it at a balcony that overlooks the entrance hall along its north and west sides; the stairs appear safe to climb, though the balcony rail is broken in several places. Under the stairs at the north end of the hall, a third corridor leads east.
Everyone else
Behind Althea with Duncan leading the way he opens the door and finds it leads into a dirty and damp kithen, with patches of gray mold and cobwebs on the floor, walls, and ceiling.
In the southwest corner is some iron cooking equipment with a chimney above. Next to it, under the window, is a cracked and discolored stone sink.
To the right of the sink, a small, closed wooden cupboard is fixed to the wall about five feet above floor level. Against the far wall, a flight of wooden stairs leads upward from west to east; the woodwork of the staircase is decayed, and a few of the treads are missing.
