Game Master S |
Welcome to my Play-by-Post!
Here's the ctrl+P for all my games:
1. I've been running games since the late 1980s, I've seen a lot of editions. I started playing PFS with Slot 1 Season 0 at Gen Con. I'm solid with the Starfinder rules, but everyone makes mistakes. I'll try to be as fair as possible.
2. I'm a Venture-Lieutenant online, but also in Southern NH. If you're ever in the area, or you need help finding games/conventions there. PM me.
3. I post with a high rate of frequency. That being said, if you guys can post 2-3 times per day, awesome. If it's only 1/day I understand. No worries. Real Life Comes First (tm).
4. Feel free to preemptively roll Perception, Disable Device, etc. It makes the game run more efficiently. I ask only that you make sure minis are placed in their actual position in case your choices have consequences (good or bad.)
5. Let's get started:
Player Name:
PC Name:
PFS#:
Faction:
Day Job: Feel free to roll now.
Perception and vision/senses:
Initiative:
Notes: Anything I should know; passive abilities, boons that are way out there, etc. If you have abilities that are immediate actions that interrupt an enemy, I'll be as fair as possible, but you can help me out by telling me under what conditions you typically use it.
Slotted Boons: You may want to wait and do this in a separate post, as you can slot boons after getting the mission briefing.
----------------------------------------------
Some expectations in my games:
That's about it! Looking forward to the game!
Sev+ |
@ Game Master S - Thank you so much for running AND holding a table for us!
I missed this when it was run locally, so I really do appreciate you being so accommodating.

I think I will.

Perception and vision/senses: +12 (Darkvision, Low-Light+

Notes:
I am good at Medicine skill (so usually will give HP back equal to CR of creatures + 6 (for my Int modifier) if I roll a 6 or higher with my advanced medkit). No real special boons or such.
Slotted Boons: I will wait for separate post, especially to hear if any are possibiliy needed (Fusion guild for example), and to make certain we have the best starship boons slotted on my end.
Game Master S |
I'm typically a prolific poster during the week, and 1/Day on the weekends. This weekend, however, I'm at a convention, and next weekend my fiancee is in a marathon and we're making a weekend of it. Otherwise I'm good to go.
Jasper Jermaine |
I'm ready as well. I can usually check the site a few times a day during the week and on weekends its iffy as that is usually "Family Time".
Dr. William Kuong |
I am ready whenever. I think I purchased everything I want (well..just wanted that thermocapacitor...gotta love Resist 5 Fire/Cold).
Game Master S |
So given that I hope on a plane in just a few hours, I'm thinking that we can either wait until Monday to start, OR I can do the introduction now, giving people an opportunity to introduce themselves and role-play a bit before I return...
Sev+ |
PC profile should now be up-to-date. I am leaving cross-country for business and also a convention next weekend and likely won't be able to post much.
I certainly don't mind a post-Memorial Day start time, but also I don't mind if folks want to get started earlier.
Dr. William Kuong |
My computer hdd I think went out. Which means I need to get my backup computer up and running. It might be working by tomorrow early. But I can usually post at work, and I can also attempt to post via phone and/or tablet.
Just means that until I get a home computer up and running any posting there will be a bit briefer.
Dr. William Kuong |
Well...a computer is back and running. It needs a lot of work. It was the hdd (it was having problems with bad secotrs...in the booting section of Windows. Go figure). The 'new' computer is working, though I need to install a bunch of stuff, which I am doing ATM. So, not in the right head space to post
So I can start posting as of tomorrow, or whenever we do the official start.
Game Master S |
Given how busy today got (crammed an action packed double session into one slot) and the hour, I'll officially give the opening on Monday. Better to do it well than soon.
Space Lucius |
Sorry... was on a little vacation.
Don’t have Lucius up to date yet, but can do that Monday/Tuesday, once I am home.
Hopefully, this is ok.
Apologies to all
Dr. William Kuong |
Okay, first question I do have...are we in the 5-6 tier, or the 7-8 tier?
If we are in the 5-6 tier, I do have a spaceship boon from Deadsuns book 4. It would feel kinda weird to show the "Starfinder" flag in a Boneship of Eox...but it might be kinda awesome too. If we are in the 7-8 tier, this ship (while having more hp) is weapon limited in comparison to the Drake.
CRYPT WARDEN TIER 7
Large destroyer
Speed 6; Maneuverability average (turn 2); Drift 2
AC 15; TL 14
HP 170; DT —; CT 34
Shields Medium 100; forward 30, port 25, starboard 25, aft 30
Attack (Forward) heavy laser net (5d6), plasma cannon (5d12)
Attack (Port) gyrolaser (1d8) Attack (Starboard) gyrolaser (1d8)
Attack (Turret) light EMP cannon (special)
Power Core Arcus Maximum (200 PCU); Drift Engine Signal Basic; Systems basic computer, basic medium-range sensors, crew quarters (common) mk 5 armor, mk 4 defenses; Expansion Bays cargo hold, escape pods, life science lab, medical bay (modified to accommodate undead)
Modifiers +2 Computers; Complement 6–20
Special: When used in Subtier 7–8, the PCs crewing this ship gain a bonus reroll that can only be used on a d20 roll made during a starship combat encounter. This reroll is meant to give the starship a slight bonus when outmatched by more powerful encounters. This reroll can be used by one PC, and does not count towards the reroll limit for that PC. Otherwise, this ability functions following the rules for rerolls as detailed in the Starfinder Core Rulebook on page 243.
With that....All my boons are below (except the Starship boons, which will be either the ship above, or the other listed, depending on what the others think).
Boons:
Ally: Collector and Examiner (Exoguardian boon, Current: +1 insight to identify Undead, Outsider, Humanoid, Plant and Magical Beast, +2 to Aberration)
Faction: ExoGuardians Champions, Improved
Personal:Scoured Stars Survivor
Promotional: T-Shirt Reroll
Social: Fusion Guild Contact (Exoguardian boon) (Ghost Killer Fusion: has to go on Tactical Rifle, Dual Acid Darts-fusion level 5, weapon lvl 7).
Starship:Either the Cyrpt Warden, or Defender of the Fleet (Finest Weapons--if somebody else slots this, I can move it to Finest Engines or Finest Computers)
Slotless: Lots of them, see my description page under boons for the list.
Game Master S |
APL:
Bugface: 5
Dr. Kuong: 7
Sev+: 7
Viper 6: 5
Lucius: 5
Jasper: 7
So we're: 36-40 total, and APL = 6. This means tier 5-6 and ship frame tier 6.
Bugface |
Bugface is level 6. I forgot to change that in my header. Would still be subtier 6 though.
Bugface |
Ally - Duskmire Allegiance - Yeti
Faction - Second Seekers(Luwazi) champion
Personal - Devolved - Avian
Promotional - none
Social - Budding Media Celebrity
Starship - Defender of the Fleet
Slotless - Protector of the Future, Private Vault, Marked Field Agent, Salvation' Delver, Abysshead Download, Team Spirit
With defender of the fleet I can boost the computers, engines or guns. Do you guys have a preference?
On starship roles I'm best suited for Science or Engineer but I do alright on Gunnery.
Sev+ |
How are we willing with skill coverage? Are we a little down on the social skills? If so, I am thinking of bringing in a hireling.
I can also bring a Defender of the Fleet boon for another system.
Sev is a capable Science officer and gunner, decent engineer and pilot, and helpful with encouragement and orders (yay, 6th level starship) as captain--but still, quite socially awkward at it.
Dr. William Kuong |
So with us being tier 5-6, the Crypt Warden would be a good ship. A really SLOW and Heavily armored and armed ship. Though having an EMP cannon on the turret might be not optimal.
Should we just run the Drake or Pegasus or take the Crypt Warden?
Also Sev+, I am 'okay' with Diplomacy (+6) but definitely not a face. If you want to slot a hireling to be good with socials that is great.
On ship actions, I probably could do decent at most. I won't be able to access the Science or Engineer's newest action (they require 6 ranks in either Computers or Engineering--and Dr. Kuong isn't that kind of mechanic--he works on biological's mainly). So maybe as a gunner I would be the best at (it just requires 6th level). I would be at +8 for Gunnery.
Whom ever has 6 ranks in Engineering or Computers should be the primary of that role is my guess.
Space Lucius |
Lucius has pretty much every skill covered. He is best with tech, but good with most
Dr. William Kuong |
I would say that if anybody has the Weapons of a Lost Civilization boon, that might be useful to slot if we are using the Crypt Warden. The EMP cannon is nice, but tactical nuclear missiles might be better ;-)
Space Lucius |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Lucius does have nuclear weapons. He is a very dangerous rat.
Space Lucius |
I have Lucius's character sheet updated... I do not have his boons, yet... will get them in tonight. Plus, I may need to spend some of his hard earned credits.
Jasper Jermaine |
Ally -
Faction - Dataphiles Champion
Personal - Devolved:Simian: You gain a climb speed equal to your land speed. If you already have a climb speed, your climb speed increases by 10 feet.
Promotional - Promotional Record Keeper: The first option is to reduce the Resolve Point cost of resting to regain Stamina by 1 (down to 0 RP). The second option is to reduce the DC of any single starship combat check (including a gunnery check) by 4; this decision must be made before making the check.
Social - Known Quality: When you have this boon slotted and you attempt a Day Job check at the end of a session, multiply your total earnings by your Acquisitives Reputation Tier3
Starship - Solar Powered Weapon System: A single weapon with the word "laser" in the title grants +1 bonus to DMG rolls. A Gunner can spend a RP prior to firing the selected weapon to increase the bonus to +4 for 1 round.
I am best suited at Computers (+18) though I could do Engineering (+14) and if all else Gunner (Piloting +9). My Diplomacy is +3 and Culture a +8
Bugface |
I vote we take the Crypt Warden. For the novelty if nothing else.
Proposed ship roles:
Captain: Lucius
Engineer: Dr. Kuong
Pilot: Viper
Science: Sev+
Gun: Jasper
Gun: Bugface
We have a very Engineer/Science heavy group so those could be passed around between nearly all of us and several people can pilot well too. So if anyone actually prefers playing one role over another it should be easy to move that around, I'm just spit balling. Lucius is easily the best captain(I think) though but we could very well go without one and double up something else. Or triple up on guns.
Space Lucius |
Ok, just to let you all know, I messed up a little. Lucius is level 6, and I am now working to get him there. Luckily, this keeps us at APL6, so no moving up.
I'll have him ready in about 30 minutes, I should guess.
Been too long since I played him, I guess :D

"Captain Lucius is good wit' dat." Plus, if we need a quick hand at another station, he can quickly do that as well!
He can pretty much aid another w/o a roll on any action, so that's pretty helpful. Do we have 3 guns? If we need 'em, Lucius will jump on that.

Notes: Mostly pretty straight-forward operative. His special abilities are all on his profile, but nothing too extraordinary.
Slotted Boons:
Ally: Spirits of a Doomed People
Personal: Stain of the Perplexity
+2 divine bonus when negotiating with evil-aligned creatures. +4 with demons. When a living creature takes bleed damage within 15' of me, they must roll twice and take the higher damage
Promotional: Shirt and/or Campaign Coin

Dr. William Kuong |
Honestly, Dr. Kuong is probably not the best engineer, as I only have 4 ranks in the skill. If there is anybody who has 6 ranks, the level 6 Engineer action is pretty awesome. Once I get to level 8 I will be maxing my Engineering skill I think.
I am only at +8 to hit for the Gunner role, but that isn't horrible.
Space Lucius |
If you want... Lucius is pretty damned good at engineering if we'd rather have him there... something like +19. He is definitely an engine rat. :D
Otherwise, he's fine being the captain, though, be warned, he'll be wanting a space Cadillac! Shag carpeting is probably optional, but he'll want the 20" illuminated spinner rims, at the minimum.
I could go on... but...
Dr. William Kuong |
I am +15 on Engineering and Computers...good, but maybe not the most awesome (since neither are 6 ranks, so can't get the awesomeness for those positions).
We need somebody good to be the captain though. Just remarking that I am find with the order, just saying I won't be able to do the overpower action.
Bugface |
I have 6 ranks in engineering and I think we have about the same mod. I'll take engineering no problem.

Sorry for the weekend slowdown. The AirBnB's wifi was essentially non-existent. I'm back with little to slow me down for a few weeks :-) Will post after I get through lecture.
Space Lucius |
No problem. thanks for letting us know!
Was a holiday weekend, so I assumed less posting.
Dr. William Kuong |
I will purchase a reconfigurable clothing with the 5 sets: Formal, Environmental (Zero-gravity), Environmental (Heat), Environmental (Cold), and Travel. That should be (100+5+10+10+10+10), so 145 credits.
Space Lucius |
Sorry to hear that... totally sucks
I have had that happen a couple of times in the past.
Game Master S |
That does suck. I've been there before. Sorry to hear it.
Jasper Jermaine |
Hi Guys, Fri/Sat I'll try to post but Sun/Mon I'm pretty sure I cannot. I have family stuff going on this weekend.
Feel free to bot me, I have bot commands in my profile.
