I don't think we have anyone higher than +12, so why don't you go ahead and do it.
Pangea-Kappa

Technically, Pangea has +12 to +17, but is passing on Diplomacy with this NPC.

The force field is black.
You have time to fit it to your armor now if you want. Anyone fitting it, please update your stats to reflect the field if you have it turned on. Remember they have only limited battery life.
“Dusty” Rhodes

It also takes 2 slots to use. I'll update the stats to include the forcefield once Dusty turns it on.

Nice RP going on. I'll not progress you just yet, but might try to advance things in the morning.

Oh my Libre. Resolve is half the level (min 1) +key.
That change everything for me.

This upcoming week will be pretty crazy for me. It is exam week, I have a lot of work to do on my thesis, I graduate next weekend, and I am moving to a different state that weekend. I am still planning to keep my x2 minimum posting but that might not happen everyday. Feel free to bot if needed.
“Dusty” Rhodes

Dusty will activate the forcefield upon arrival, other than that I'm ready to go.

I have already did libre action. She will be on melee duty.

Big life changes Medrick!
I hope all goes well with the graduation, the move, and everything stemming from it...

I will have my master's degree in experimental psychology. I am interviewing for a job to be a data manager for a longitudinal study on adolescent development when I move back to New York.

Longitudinal studies... real nice. We have one that has been going about 30 years down in Dunedin. When I say "we" I mean the country, not me.
BTW sorry about slow posting, RL is pretty busy at the moment.

The most important thing is that we advance and we are! What is the damage of the second attack?
GM Aerondor
|
To free one of the starfinder captives, you must get next to them and then spend a full round untying them. They do look to be in a pretty bad way at the moment.
@LIBRE, which of the Jinsul do you have the wisp providing covering fire against? And what is providing concealment?
L.I.B.R.E.
|
Concealment=Shining form. Also she has the force field and the lesser restant armor.
It was red Jinsul.
Medrick

30 years? Nice. The longest running I have been part of has been one that was going for around 15. The started the study with prenatal mothers and we followed them till till there where 14. I left the study because I had to move to go to grad school.
L.I.B.R.E.

Good idea Dusty. [The combat portion became significant easy when you have résistance and force field]
Libre for exemple is full even when hit.
GM Aerondor

Thanks. So LIBRE, where does your DR, electricity and fire resistance come from? I don't see any items that grant those on your sheet.

The lesser résistant armor spell gem?
Pangea-Kappa
|
Not that it is matters, since I imagine there was ample time for L.I.B.R.E. to repeat caster level checks before combat was initiated (and I believe it would only fail on a 1), but, in general, since I suppose that L.I.B.R.E. is Caster Level 6, and the spell gem is CL 8 (it is a Spell Gem, 3rd?) L.I.B.R.E. should roll a DC 9 caster level check to trigger the spell.
(and the spell is an either/or for DR/Resistance)
| Gayel Nord |
Lesser resistant armor grants the target (and its gear) protection from your choice of either kinetic damage or energy damage. If you choose kinetic damage, the target and her gear gain DR 5/— that protects against bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. If you choose energy damage, pick any two of acid, cold, electricity, fire, and sonic damage. The target and her gear gain energy resistance 5 that protects against the chosen types of energy. This damage reduction or energy resistance doesn’t stack with any damage reduction or energy resistance the target already has, and multiple castings of this spell don’t stack.
Flute.
Ok. Just fire and electricity then

Cool. I just missed it being in the preparation phase. For a ten minute + long buff that is probably no issue, if it was a shorter one , I'd have preferred you doing it closer to the action. I didn't make that clear though, so no worry.
GM Aerondor

I'm obviously not firing on all cylinders here. How was the yellow jinsul threatened by Libre? I didn't think a hook sword had reach?
Still getting use to the SF differences from PF, so sorry for all the questions. I don't play it IRL at all, so many of you will have a lot more system knowledge than me.

Attending a con this weekend, expect some slowness or radio silence until Monday. Bot me if necessary.

I was sure that Yellow was trying the bite me. So it should be mêlée right?

LIBRE quite right, I obviously didn't update the map, or read my own text. Sorry, been a really hectic week for me. Just as well we are getting towards the end of the scenario.

We can skip a day if you need a rest, don't drive yourself crazy with this.

I'm on a teaching placement at the moment, goes on for the next five weeks, so my normal free time...isn't. And when I'm not at school, I'm doing a lot of lesson planning and preparation coding.
Pangea-Kappa

I've always taken it to be part of the move action of flying, but I don't have anything to point to there.
As a GM I do the same (to turn on and turn off I count it as "free").
My reasoning is that w/o seeing anything written as to what it "costs" I leave it free.
Since all I found written is that change of type of flight.
But could be totally wrong (might be some rule somewhere).

The description in the book just says 'you gain a fly speed', which to me implies that it doesn't take an extra action. Haste circuit and force fields both list actions to start them, and there's no such action listed for jetpack, which to me also implies it's part of the movement.
GM Aerondor
|
My copy of the CRB says changing from cruising flight to normal is a standard action. At least that is the jetpack armor upgrade. I'm not especially fussed about starting it. I'd normally count it as an action I think, unless it is prepared (like viper did in another game).
But you probably need a bit of help here, so lets go with it as a free action for this combat, but in general I'd probably err towards standard, as that is the "change" action.
“Dusty” Rhodes
|
I agree about the standard (changing from “off” to “normal” flight strikes me as a change in flight mode), but Pangea could have easily had it on just as we showed up to the map; he’s been flying since round 1.
Medrick

Sorry for being gone all weekend. Was crazy busy, but I am moved in back in New York again so my posting should be back to normal.

I just realised... can we use the other starfinders? like giving them weapon?
“Dusty” Rhodes
|
We gotta find a way to track this demon through the fog. Pangea's trying but he's flying blind right now.
Shoo Fly
|
Yeah. I'm not sure what we can really do but have Jadnura keep clearing the fog and readying to attack it in the brief window we have.
GM Aerondor
|
It's kind of a frustrating last encounter this one. Officially Jadnura normally just gives covering fire, but your request to have him blow the fog apart was a reasonable one. So essentially you trade two rounds of support for him removing one of the clouds.
Your idea of arming the remaining starfinders is a good one if you have spare weapons, their additional fire would certainly help keep the incoming hoards of jinsul off your back.
And in an attempt to wrap this battle up a little faster, I think our demon is going to change tactics slightly.
I mean, he wouldn't want to jinsul to think he was scared of you would he?
Shoo Fly
|
Yeah, I'm not a fan of this last encounter. It was a slog when I ran it in person recently, too.
GM Aerondor
|
It is kind of reminiscent of some PFS ones. I'm thinking in particular of
This has a lot of moving parts with Jadnura and the reinforcements. When I saw it to begin with I was thinking they were a bit of a waste of time, but as an ongoing source of resource drain and distraction from everyone focusing on the demon they are quite effective.
I'm not sure the BBEG is quite up to it though, as SF damage output at this level can start to spike quite high.
The hiding in fog tactics are sensible from its point of view, but frustrating from a play aspect.
Still, I like a bit of the cinematic feel of this, with hoards of jinsul slowly wearing the party down as they frantically try to get a clear space to have Jadnura land in for an extract. First battle when I think batteries running out is a major threat.
