@Aggghhh Using the feat tax rules here, power attack is a combat option and no longer necessary to take as a feat. So you can select a different feat. And I calculate a 24 pt. buy so you have 1 spare point. Also please note how many rage rounds you have, it should be 7 from my count.

Present!
By the way, I have taken Profession(tanner) and Profession(taxidermist) as background skills: are those enough to craft trophies from the fallen enemies, or should I get some subskill of Craft?

Captain Richter Kruegar |

Dread Skeleton: +2 Dex, +2 Cha
Str 16 = 10pts
Dex 14+2 = 5 pts
Con - = 0 pts
Int 14 = 5 pts
Wis 8 = -2 pts
Cha 15+2 = 7 pts
Total = 10 + 5 + 0 + 5 - 2 + 7 = 25 pts
Does that all seem ok?

Captain Richter Kruegar |

Ahhh my bad, it mustn't like dashes in that field as I could have sworn I'd changed it, apologies.
That's definitely fair enough regarding the reductions, will edit now.

Igoroskandrallanotly - “Igor” |

Igoroskandrallanotly is here.
For other players, I'm going to be playing Igoroskandrallanotly as somewhat arrogant and condescending to start. If you feel it's too much, please say something to me, and I'll tone it down.
So, for advancing the Doppelganger abilities, here's what I'd like to eventually get to:
Claws 1d8 damage (current 1d4)
Detect thoughts At Will
Change shape (as alter self)
Mimicry (Ex) A doppelganger is proficient in all weapons, armor, and shields. In addition, a doppelganger can use any spell trigger or spell completion item as if the spells were on its spell list. Its caster level is equal to its racial Hit Dice.
Perfect Copy (Su) When a doppelganger uses change shape, it can assume the appearance of specific individuals.
That's what the base Doppelganger has at 4 hit dice, albeit without any class levels. GM, how fast were you thinking we would gain our abilities?

Dahlia the Blinded |

A girl slumps against the wall, hollow eye sockets gazing at the floor. The snakes that make up her hair, however, are a slowly moving mass as they weave and slither amongst each other. A canny eye would pick up that everyone else in the prison is being watched by two or three of the snakes.

This may have been posted in Discussion, instead of Gameplay. I'd suggest hopping over there to post it.

Cardinal A. Thorn |

@Igor Character sheet looks fine. It won't be exactly the same for everyone but I'm planning for every level or 2.
@Gop Character sheet is fine.
@Dahlia Character sheet is fine.
@Fiaincosranboladhrianoir Seems fine.
Friday is coming. I shall get the gameplay post ready on the weekend and game will start sunday or monday, depending on people's timezones.

Lierin |

Dot.
And it's doomed me. Again.
I should start at the beginning. My name is Lierin. No family name, not anymore. I left that behind with my last life. When I was alive, I was a duelist. A good one, too. My and my curve blade cut a swatch of death across the dueling scene. Nothing brought be greater joy than watching the light fade out of an enemy's eyes.
Until I fought her. I should have known she was a caster. I didn't realize until too late, when I felt her spell rush through me. That was the end of my life. As I lay dying, she stood over me, asked what I wanted done with my remains. I cursed her. She cursed me right back.
She raised me from the dead, as this...thing. Made me her own personal toy. Mocked me. It took years to break free of her control, to turn her other toys against her. To finally watch the light fade from her eyes. It didn't bring me joy, though. Not like it used to.
But it did bring me peace, if only for a moment. So I set out to do it again, and again. I took up my blade again, and turned my new powers back toward dueling. I can disguise myself as a living elf, so no one knows any better. I always make sure I'm hidden away when the sun goes down, when my disguise melts away.
Most duelists use swords, which don't actually do all that much damage to me. Makes it easier to kill them.
But I got sloppy, I got careless. I had just killed a man in the street. I was in the bar, bragging and partying. I issued an open challenge. Someone accepted.
I didn't expect him to pull a hammer. I didn't expect the hammer to hurt so bad. I didn't expect my flesh disguise to disintegrate immediately. But he did, and it did. I stood exposed before the town. I expected them to destroy me there and then, but they didn't.
They bound me up, shipped me off. And now, here I am. Waiting to be obliterated in some ritual show of force.
They call me a monster, but at least I always gave my victims a chance. This isn't a duel. This is an execution, dressed up to look good for the masses.
But I'm the monster. Right.

Ngogh'gnish the Unknowable |

So because of the way Synthesist Summoner works, I use the physical stats (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution) of the eidolon, and the mental stats (Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma) of the summoner. Thematically for this game, the idea is that Ngogh'gnish is feeding off of Bert's mind and body in order to function, essentially riding him as a prisoner on the material plane, which explains why it's using the summoner's mental stats even though Ngogh'gnish is 100% in control.
In terms of how it's working on the sheet, the numbers in parentheses for Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution are Bert's, while the numbers out of them are Ngogh'gnish's. Being that Ngogh'gnish is pretty much permanently around, Bert's scores are really only in effect for Constitution adding to his "base" hit point pool and preventing death. The mental scores don't have any parentheses, because Ngogh'gnish's scores for those are already lower than Bert's and will never go up.

Muscini |

Hello all.
Before I post in gameplay I think there one thing that should probably be addressed with my character; Unnerving Gaze.
What is basically does is that anyone who looks at me needs to succeed at a DC 17 will save or stand there fascinated until something breaks them out. Though if that something ends they'll need to save again.
Our undead friends and the blind medusa are immune to it (it's a mind affecting fear effect so that saves the undead and the medusa can't see me) but that still leaves everyone else. I'm not sure how that should be solved.
EDIT: It's easy to solve for the prison scene though, just stuff Muscini in a bag.

Cardinal A. Thorn |

Ok i get it now. But I'm sure this is going to be confusing again at some point. You use Bert's HP as sacrifice to avoid being sent back I guess. Dismissal and Banishment would be killers if you failed the save in this case. Also what monster feat are you taking as your bonus feat?

Igoroskandrallanotly - “Igor” |

I imagine the GM will disable that to start - he's disabled some of our other powers in the prisons. I imagine that you can also turn it off if you choose to.
Unnerving Gaze (Su) Range 30 ft., Will DC 15 negates. A kyton can make its face resemble one of an opponent’s departed loved ones or bitter enemies. Those who fail their saves become shaken for 1d3 rounds. This is a mind-affecting fear effect. The save DC is Charisma-based.
Unnerving Gaze (Su): An apostle kyton’s unnerving gaze (see the kyton subtype) causes those who fail their saving throws to be fascinated by the apostle kyton. The apostle kyton’s seductive oration doesn’t break this fascination effect, but other attacks break the effect as normal.
My reading on these two descriptions is that you can choose to use it, but you do not have to. That's probably the easiest way to handle it.

Muscini |

From the entry on the Kyton subtype
Unnerving Gaze (Su) All kytons have a gaze attack that manipulates the perceptions of those who look upon them. An unnerving gaze has a range of 30 feet, and can be negated by a Will save—the exact effects caused by a particular kyton’s unnerving gaze depend on the type of kyton. All kytons are immune to the unnerving gazes of other kytons. Unnerving gaze is always a mind-affecting fear effect. The save DC is Charisma-based.
But as I added above, the simplest solution at the moment would be to stuff Muscini in a bag.

Igoroskandrallanotly - “Igor” |

That doesn't say it's always on, though, just that it's always a mind-affecting fear effect, and that all kytons have one. I say you have the ability to choose not to affect someone if you don't want to.

Cardinal A. Thorn |

Well i definitely overlooked that one. Gaze attacks are active AND passive apparently. If i realised that before i would have cut that ability from your starting powers for you to gain later so that's what we will do now before the game properly starts. You can, of course, select a different monster feat too.

Muscini |

OK, not entirely unexpected.
That said, it's the only monster feat for which I qualify so all I can do is swap that to my Gift of Madness revelation.
Kind of odd though, all that remains of my monster part atm is darkvision, a +2 on Bluff, Heal and Intimidate, Cold resist 5 and doing 1 damage if I touch people.

The darkness of the ceiling seems to shift and a black widows hourglass becomes visible with the top body of a lovely drow female. She smiles and you see fangs in her mouth as she slips back into the darkness.

Ngogh'gnish the Unknowable |

Ok i get it now. But I'm sure this is going to be confusing again at some point. You use Bert's HP as sacrifice to avoid being sent back I guess. Dismissal and Banishment would be killers if you failed the save in this case. Also what monster feat are you taking as your bonus feat?
It's all good, Synthesists have a rap for being broken but a lot of it just comes from making sure you understand how they work and follow the rules--I've played them before so I'll stay on the level. Bert's HP will indeed be a pool to make sure I stick around--that's why I took Diehard, so Ngogh'gnish will latch on and sap every last bit of Bert's vitality before he gets shunted back. Dismissal/Banishment would be bad, yes, thus trying to get my saves high from the get-go so they'll stay high throughout. And I completely forgot the Monster Feat. There aren't a lot I qualify for, so I think I'll play it simple and just grab Improved Natural Armor so my AC isn't quite so awful.

Cardinal A. Thorn |

@Muscini Yep i misread and messed it up. To rectify, you will have the Agonizing Prayer(Su) ability 1/day. And as a spell-like ability, Hypnotism 3/day(which will eventually turn into the more powerful Unnerving Gaze). DC's for special attacks are 10 + half HD + cha mod.

Ngogh'gnish the Unknowable |

Also, my apologies if Ngogh'gnish's speech patterns are particularly annoying to anyone. I can tone them down if need be, and likely will once it's spent more time here, but I figured it would be fun to play up the alien and esoteric nature of an otherworldly aberration, at least to start things out.

Eat-in-Shadow |

As for speech patterns, I too chose a bit of a stereotypical third-person one, but it's because of a dissonance between who Eat-in-Shadow was before and after being given a name. I got it from a folk tale about boggarts.

Reginald Oswell |

Ah, I had thought it should be 10! I'll change it to 11 since 1pt won't get me anything elsewhere. And, I'm not sure, I completely forgot about the bonus monster feat.. would that be a feat specific to your monstrous race? (Like a race feat?)

Igoroskandrallanotly - “Igor” |

No - Igoroskandrallanotly is designed to be a party face, even if he only has a 14 Charisma. It's a role that fits doppelgangers well. I suspect that the 20 Charisma Aposlte Kyton Oracle is also built to be a face.
With how many of us there are, if all of us maintain our current level of involvement, we might end up forming three or four groups, so multiple faces are not a bad thing.

Muscini |

Aw crud, did I end up making the party face by accident?
Muscini has 20 Cha and has a +10 or higher in all three social skills. She just needs aid from someone with decent Sense Motive.
Add to that that eventually she'll fascinate all that look at her (assuming they fail their saves at least once) and she'll do pretty well in convincing people.
She was built as a caster but as an Oracle that means you'll almost automatically be a decent party face as well.
