Are there any other specific buildings that we've heard about as significant in anyway? I'm sorry not to know this but it's hard to keep track of everything over multiple weeks. Thanks for any reasonable reminders.
Setare Katsu
|
Setare would like to try to find out more about the disappearances. She is fine with tracking down Gavril and also with other buildings. From the options below she would rater choose F. or B.
LEGEND
A. Boroi Manor
B. Town Watch
C. ChandleryD. Temple of Zon-Kuthon
E. Shade Row
F. The Weeping Willow
Etienne Elodien
|
it doesn't seem like we have any reason to go to other places besides back to the manor, so that's my suggestion.
Kitoro
|
Mine too - back to the manor.
Hoprah
|
Agreed, aside from the Temple of Zon-Kuthon (shudder), I'm not sure that we've heard any reason to visit these other places, have we? ... I need to go back and reread everything - it's hard to keep all the clues straight in your mind over all this time...
"Let's go talk with the Baron and see what he knows."
DM Eric
|
Seeing the hour is getting late you all hurry back to the Manor, where the Baron awaits to hopefully unravel this mystery. To your surprise you see Gavril waiting for you in the sitting room, an anxious look upon his face.
"I am glad to see you made it back here, and I must thank you for your selfless act in saving my kin-folk," he chuckles lightly, "Do not look so surprised my friends. Words travel faster here than the shadows spring into being when the light vanishes,as my people like to say. I know dinner time is approaching but I did want to again offer my thanks."

Setare is happy to see Gavril.
”Your kinfolk are ve ... very worried about you and I am ha ... happy that you are we ... well! We only tried to do wha ... what is right! So what do you be ... believe will await us when... when we have dinner with the ba ... baron?“ Setare asks.
Etienne Elodien
|
"Gavril, what brings you to the sitting room? Is it more than to offer thanks?"
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira
|
Along the way, Rilia, always wanting to look her best, prestidigitations herself clean.
Rilia awaits Gavril's reply.

DM Eric
|
Gavril moves to the door of the sitting room making sure it is closed, before he leans in closer to you his voice pitched to a low volume.
"Since you helped my people out, I will tell you a secret. I was having an affair with one of Karpad’s recently disappeared citizens. She is, or I should say was, a married human woman named Irini, and I was seeing her right up until her disappearance. As you may have figured, human-fetchling relationships are taboo in Karpad, especially now, and if our affair became public, I would be forced to flee the valley or be killed, especially because I last saw Irini on the afternoon of her disappearance." He pauses for a moment, before continuing softly, "However I know I was not the last person to see Irini, however — I had to sneak out the window because Irini’s friend Catalina, the chandler in town, had arrived for lunch."
Rilia, and indeed all of you, can tell there is no falsehood in his words.
Hoprah
|
"Most interesting. What has Catalina said about Irini's disappearance? And does she have any inkling of your involvement with Irini? Perhaps we should pay her a visit..."
Kitoro
|
"We have a little secret to figure out ourselves. Baron, did you know that the kin you buried were never buried?"
She watches closely to see the reaction the Baron has.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Setare Katsu
|
Setare stays in the background and listens as she does not know much about romance and ... others seem better suited to assist.
Etienne Elodien
|
"Gavril, I was under the impression that only the sick were disappearing. Did I misunderstand? Or was Irina sick?"
Setare Katsu
|
Setare steps forward.
”Gavril, This is so ha ... hard to believe and we all wa ... want to help! These dis... disappearances are as bad as the sick... sickness!! What shou... should we do? Where should we sea... search?“ she asks Gavril!
Kitoro
|
Changing my dialog then."
"Garril, do you know if anything strange happened when the Barons kin were burried?"
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira
|
Rilia rolls her eyes at Setare's display. I had had such hopes....
"A chandler you say? The town's candlestick-maker. A town in the grips of a malady called tallowthroat. Coincidence?" she looks around meaningfully at each person in the room.
Kitoro
|
Kitoro smacks her forehead (which the mongoose mimics).
"How did I miss that? That seems like a most unlikely coincidence to me."
Hoprah
|
Hoprah also bonks herself on the forehead and then, (ala the Three Stooges), bonks Setare as well for good measure. "It all seems so obvious now!"
DM Eric
|
Now curious as to how these disappearances relate to the tallowthroat disease, you all decide a short trip to the Chandlery, and the chandler Catalina who may hold a clue as to the cause of the rash of disappearances.
The Chandlery is located on the far side of town, not far from the Weeping Willow the sole tavern in town and also near the square where you rescued the kayal earlier. The chandlery is a 20-foot-by-25-foot rectangular building with a single door and windows looking into the storefront. As you might expect with the town's fear of darkness the chandlery does a fair business.
As you open the front door you see this cramped shop smells of wax and incense. Candles of every shape, size, and color line all available surfaces, poking out of crates and perching precariously on overstuffed shelves. A door leads to another part of the store.
As you take stock of the situation you notice the only occupant you can see is an eerily expressionless handsome human male with a glistening quality about him, as though he’s covered in an oily sheen, standing at the back of the store. He does not say anything as he moves towards you, his arm raised up...
For every 5 you beat the DC by you may select one of the items from this LIST to get information on.
Barley: 1d20 ⇒ 13

Day 1: Appx. 6:00 PM
Setare Katsu

Setare is not sure what is going on but she suddenly is energised and runs forward to the oily being and draws her Scimitar to protect her companions. Move action.
Setare readies her attack with her Scimitar and will attack if the being is really aggressive.
Scimitar attack roll : 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Damage roll : 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
IN ADDITION TO THE READIED ATTACK: In case Setare is attacked she uses 'Opportune Parry' and parries by expending an AoO to parry and spends a panache point (so if the attack roll of the opponent is lower than Setare's parry then the opponent does not hit and Setare could potentially reposte)
Opportune Parry: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
In case Setare successfully parries she uses 'Reposte' as an immediate action to attack the opponent that attacked her.
Scimitar reposte attack roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Damage reposte roll: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

If that's the way you rule it, and consider the info you gave 'useful' I'll obviously abide by it.
Barley 川から流木

”Maybe it just wants a hug?”, Barley unchains a length of kusarigama, and shouts at the golem and into the store, ”HELLO?! Is your master home?! Is the chandler here!!!”
He stands his ground until the handsome golem gets within reach, then attempts to trip.

Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 Immunities and Special Attacks please
"By Aroden's Angst, a Wax Golem! I've heard of them but never seen one in the flesh, I mean wax!"
"Setare, dear, if you will just step back a bit I will attempt to blind the creature, but I don't want to catch you as well."
Readied action to cast Glitterdust (DC 18 Will, no SR) as soon as there is room to do so without catching any of my friends in the effect. This is on the assumption that my knowledge check reveals that it is immune to magic, in which case Glitterdust is really the only thing that I can affect it with.
DM Eric
|
Setare advances upon the Wax golem and hacks deeply into its side, while Barley sends the golem sprawling to the ground. Kitoro stands ready to heal her companions who gets wounded.
Hoprah realizes this is indeed a Wax Golem and, as such, shares its immunities to magical spells along with being immune to cold attacks. Also it does not have any special attacks. A wax golem is immune to any spell or spell-like ability that allows spell resistance, with the exception of spells and spell-like abilities that have the Fire descriptor. Immune to Cold attacks. Unfortunately the tight confines of the shop preclude the casting of her spell.
The golem, perhaps not realizing it is on the ground stands to its feet...
Setare may take an AoO against the golem.
and takes a swing at the Ifrit...
Slam vs. Setare: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 Hit, beats Setare's Parry roll.

Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Kitoro: I shifted you to the bottom of the Initiative chart, after the Golem.

The blow to Setare unconfirm Barley's guess that the golem is some sort of friendly door greeter. ”You are a very dangerous thing to leave walking around. I am sorry to make votive candles out of you”, he pulls out his grandfather's sword with a drawing slice.

Armed with this knowledge of the golem's weakness to fire spells, Hoprah readies to cast Burning Hands if an opportunity to do so without catching any of her friends arises (seems unlikely in these close quarters, but just in case)

Kitoro

Kitoro: I shifted you to the bottom of the Initiative chart, after the Golem.
It was a readied action and should not move her initiative order.
Kit will repeat the same process, waiting for an injury to heal.
Ready an action to heal the first person that is injured that she can reach.
Kitoro
|
I don't think it matters if the readied action goes off at the end of the round. When a readied action is taken your init order is not changed. If it was a held turn, that is different, but she was not holding until after the golem.
Hoprah

Initiative Consequences of Readying
Your initiative result becomes the count on which you took the readied action.
My understanding has always been that you move to the spot in the initiative *just before* the creature that triggered your ready condition.
DM Eric
|
I understand what you are saying here but Kitoro specifically stated in her readied action if another PC gets wounded. This would happen AFTER the Monster takes its action. If Kitoro decides to shift initiative position she can wait until just before the wax golem acts next round, which means she would lose her action this round.
Kitoro
|
Wow! I had that completely wrong. I've always thought the init stayed the same on a readied action. But its there in black and white. Maybe the first time it happened my readied action did not take place and my init stayed the same and the idea stuck?
DM Eric
|
Barley takes a goodly chunk out of its leg with his blow, while Hoprah readies her fiery spell just in case. It proves not to be necessary as Setare hacks savagely into the golem's side twice, the second blow slicing it in half! The two portions of the golem slide to the ground silently, as the aminating magicks fade from it.
COMBAT OVER!
Once the adrenalin has faded you take stock here. The only thing of interest here is the door leading further inside, plus the fact no one has yet taken umbrage at your actions, so far.
