It okay if I use my previous perception roll to detect danger?
"Jimara, Zander, and think we've got company," James says, his even, hoarse voice filled with more power than usual.
"Spread out, give us a good firing line. If it goes after one of us, run while the others maintain fire. I'll take left.
And you," James says to Emile. "We get to see what it is you do."
James drops all pretense of normalcy and holds up his right forearm. A large assault rifle unfolds from it and he keeps it trained on the coming noise as he sidesteps to the left of the group.

Sense Jimara already detected it no reason James...
As you all turn at Jimara's warning you see the creature... It is a massive green skinned creature with strange, blue and purple warts... It leers at you hungrily.
This is one of the "big ones" mutants so warped in size and strength that they are akin to troll... These mutants are among the most powerful of their kind, feared and dreaded by all...

Zander get up and leaps into the back Hodah of his golem and says, "Ready to face what's commin fella!"
He pulls out his rifle from the satchel and aims it at the coming enemy.
As for his commands to Copperbottom he says, "Hold your ground Copperbottom. If that big frog comes near, pummel him with your fists."

James' stands at his position on the left flank and his arm tracks the charging bulk.
'Target acquired, Legionnaire. Positive firing resolution. Normal munitions launched. Now loading Wounding munitions. Munitions launched.'
The rifle kaks off twice in quick succession.

normal ammo: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

wounding. If hit, 1pt continuous bleed: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Zander on his turn takes a shot with his rifle loaded with Heavy Shot (-1 to hit but +2 damage)
Rifle Shot: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 - 1 = 19
Does that hit the monster?
The next question is Weapon Sizes. In Thunderscape small sized rifles do the same damage as medium sized rifles. But in normal pathfinder rules small sized weapons have a lower damage die rating. What is your ruling?
| GM Dust Devil |
Thunderscape rules for weapon sizes.
will save1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
The Golemoid and gnome successfully strike at the massive mutant... Before their eyes however the creature's wounds start to reseal... The creature not terribly wounded but visibility enraged strikes the Golem with it's claws...

Ok here is the damage Rifle Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
The golem reels from the mighty blow of the mutant (Taking 17 damage due to its DR 1)
The Golem counter attacks with its held action, attempting to slam the mutant with its metal fist. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
If it hits it does 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 damage.
As for Cogvolt's action he orders his golem to do a full withdraw action. It backs away 50 feet without providing. As this is a complex order it takes a move action. As a standard he reloads his rifle.

James shows as much panic as an emotionless biomech can, and calls out to his companions, "Breakaway!"
He moves directly perpendicular from the axis that the mutant and the golem were on, trying to get the thing's attention away from the golem.
"Hey Ugly! I bet the only dates you get are on a calender!"
In case his witting barb doesn't get his attention, he also shoots him.
shot: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
If Copperbottom has moved "South" 50 ft, James moves "West" 20 feet. Since he was 20 ft away from the golem, he is now 40 ft from the mutant, hence, no point blank for him.

The golem topples over and sparks on the ground. If it were not for the steadfast enhancement the golem would be beyond repair. Still Cogvolt finds himself in a bad position inside the Howrah of a smashed up golem with a beast looming over him.
"You dammed beast! You wrecked My Copperbottom you bastard!" He yells in frustration.

James runs away as fast as he can. He is amazed to see Copperbottom, with many rents and angry gears protesting, keeping pace with him as an astounded Zander hangs on for dear life.
When the party is safely away from the angry ur-mutant, James re-dons his cloak and assumes a sense of normality.
"Well," he says, his voice still low and even, "that was pretty wild. Zander, take some time and get Copperbottom stitched up, then we'll start North-West again.
Hey, I just got here, do any of you guys know anything about this town?"
Zander, for any questions, please see the discussion thread.

Zander taking his chance gets out of the Golem and makes a run for it. He hopes to himself that the Beast will leave the remains of Copperbottom alone so that he can go back for him later and fix him up, but for now digression is the better part of valor. He bolts away leaving Copperbottom laying dormant on the ground but not completely destroyed.
| Emile La Fuente |
After a long night of sleeping hunched and with eyes wide open and glassy, Emile is spritely. She eats her ration like a ravenous beast and trails directly behind James, doing all she can to lead him to the place they spoke of in an ultimately valiant -but futile- effort.
