I have been getting ideas together for a PbP Ptolus game, using the PFRPG as the system for the game, looking for people wanting to play. Both of the new playtest class are acceptable class choices as well. Any races out of PFRPG, Ptolus or Arcana Evolved are allowed. 4 to 6 players will be accepted.

While I would like to play, I know little of the setting itself (That two inch thick monster of a book is intimidating...) Would that be a bar to joining?

Also, may or may not be interested. I might end up giving an oracle a shot...

I would be rather interested myself, though I too know fairly little of the setting. I do have the book though, but I only managed to skim it several years ago before the group I was planning on using it with fell through. I would be interested in reading through it more if accepted.

I would have a preference for either a cavalier or a paladin I think, but a straight up fighter has a lot of possibilities as well.

I've played in Ptolus before, and would definitely be interested in joining your game. First choice would be either a rogue or bard, but I could also swing towards cleric if the party is in need of one.

sounds great all, I have no problem with you knowing the setting well or not at all. as I said before I am pretty open to most character's and classes. I would like to see how the PFRPG classes play out in a Ptolus game cause at some point in the future I will be using this setting in a home game with PFRPG as the system hopefully. Go ahead and start putting together characters msg me at Pdoxntt@gmail.com when you have got them together, (go ahead and email me a copy so I can approve them). I have to do a lot of reading this weekend to re familiarize myself with all the politics of the setting and also as I have just recently got PFRPG I will be reading that as well.

If anyone needs a copy of the player's guide msg me as it has a huge amount of flavor as well as background and ideas for characters. Also be aware the setting does have firearms in it.

As to level and such lets go ahead build 1st level character's as I would like to start from scratch with the game.

Sounds good. Do the other players in the group have any idea about the kind of alignment/mindset their characters will be having? Cavaliers can jump all over the board with their order's, and I wanted to make sure I kept him in a range that would be compatible with the others. I was thinking of having him be lawful neutral and fairly mercenary, but with an extreme sense of honor. However, if most of the group is leaning more good for good's sake or the like, I could certainly build him more in that territory.

knew I forgot to mention something...lets see let's use the heroic style of rolling 2d6 for each stat and add 6 to what you roll. go ahead and roll these stats on one of the online rolling sites that allows you to paste the results to you post. see below for example

please roll your base stats and post them to this thread and then once you got them and I approve them put your character together. just make sure when you msg me with the full character your clear which stats went to which

only trump at this point I will put in place is no evil characters unless you can come up with one hell of a reason why he/she would fit in the setting/group. Make sure you check out the player's guide for background ideas, would like to have background for each character before we get going that way I have a good idea how to bring you all together even though I already have some shifty evil dm ideas brewing in my mind.

Ive played everything but an arcane caster in Pathfinder so far, so if you want a Wizard of some sort, I'd be eager to play. If so here are my rolled stats. Just let me know and I'll put a character together tomorrow. I need to bone up on my Ptolus guide first for race etc...

Were you planning to make any adjustments to the Arcana Evolved races, as the standard PF races have been upped a bit? ie. +2 to an ability, or get rid of a minus 2 adjustment.

Davi playing an Earth focused Oracle
Scran playing an arcane caster of some sort
Tarlane playing a Cavalier
Shadowborn playing either a bard a rogue (or cleric if need be)
and Gamender as something martial

Not bad... I'm thinking I'll go with the rogue idea, probably a halfling.

Not too shabby, nothing at the tip top of the spectrum but nothing too low either. I'm going to want to be pretty balanced all around stat-wise, I think, so that suits me just fine if the DM approves.

keep up the good work all. get those characters together, make sure you check out the player's guide for helpful background. Anyone watching the thread who hasn't piped in and is still interested I am leaving the door open to two more people, to round out the game to eight as the attrition in pbp can be kinda high.

Gamender here, went for a human barb, compensates for the low stats. Will work on a decent background for this guy. Soon.

I'm thinking about the Faen sp?. from Arcana Evolved. Don't have my book in front of me till tonight, but I like the smaller one that eventually could become even smaller.

Most of the Pathfinder races have a +2 net bonus to one stat compared to 3.5 races. Normally I would just say keep the INT +2, and Drop the STR -2 but that doesn't make sense for such a small race, so I might suggest add a +2 DEX to the race to give the standard +2 net bonus...Just a suggestion.

Hm, I have found that I almost always play humans and I'm trying to get myself to diversify a bit. I was thinking that I was going to play a gnome in this case, a bit odd for a cavalier maybe, but it will let me bring my mount a lot more places then I could otherwise, and being a bit harder to hit will help a great deal when I'm trying to tank for the party.

I did have one quick question, I was looking at the list of suggested mounts for the cavalier(they say it must be suitable for riding and then give a 'such as' list). I was going to go with the order of the lion for my order, and the example list doesn't include the big cat animal companion. This might be for balance reasons, so I don't have any problem picking one of the others(I was thinking wolf). I was just curious if you minded me using the wolf statistics and just describing it as being some sort of smaller cat just because I like the image of him with the lion emblem on his shield, riding a big cat. Even if the 'big' cat is just medium.

So, anyone know how much starting gold oracles get?

I just thought I'd mention, in case anyone hadn't discovered it yet, that the board was recently upgraded with a dice roller.

Attack with my short sword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

I looked over the fean, lets go ahead with the +2 Int, +2 Dex and -2 Str (per PFRPG conversion all races except half-elf, half-orcs and Humans have two +2 stats and one -2 stat) this fits the best with a small race like the Fean.

Works for me; Take the stats for the wolf and we will use it for a medium sized "big cat".

Nope; just the gold for your class. Just take look at the wealth table in PFRPG. err....Looks like it 2d6x10

So we have three Humans, a quickling faen, a faen, a gnome and Shoal elf. Seems pretty well rounded so far.

Looks great so far, the water elemental sorceror fits better with the sailor/shoal elf concept IMAO

I've been looking at the backgrounds in the Ptolus guide, and with the skill consolidation in Pathfinder, they'll probably need some tweaking.
