This is another example where I wish you would have said "party is up". The zombie's attack was so brief it seemed like we were waiting on you to do something else.
Brian runs to the other side of the zombie. He arrives out of breath and unable to attack effectively, but he manages to distract it enough to help out the Eagle's attacks at if shifts over 5 feet and brings the PAIN!
Eagle Claw w/ flank: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 = 19
Eagle Claw damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Sorry! Lost Internet for a few days! Everything's back to brass now though! inb4 Loses electricity next Really feel like I've been tempting the fates here lately or something xD
Rushing to stand next to Dmitri, he offers him a CLW potion, saying, "Here! Take this and step back - we'll cover you while you drink it!" Standing readied as he faces the zombie, the rogue nods his head hoping that his comrade will receive ample healing from the potion.

Good to have you back d00d! Let's PWNT sum m0bZ!"
Jerimiah Spilane |
Seeing a need to not waste costly resources, he goes to try and heal Dmitri further.
Cure Light: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15
Brian WhiteAngel |
"W00t! OMG PWNT! Sw33tness, now let's loot teh phat lewts!"
With that Brian bends searches the corpses, wading in knee-deep into the gore, not caring for the stench of death nor the spilled entrails, almost as if he was willfully believing that this realm did not exist.
Dmitri McLanski |
Dmitri stands for a moment as he watches the zombie fall, and after a still moment he falls to one knee, supporting himself with his sword as he takes a few heavy breaths. His breathing settles as Jerimiah casts his spells, and as he catches his breath he looks to him and says, Dziękuję, panie Spilane. Nie sądzę, bym się go bez twojej pomocy. I'll be just a moment, these spells seem to make me a little nauseous. Much better than the pain before though!
Thank you, Mr. Spilane. I don't think I would have made it without your help.

Perception Assist: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
The rogue stands near Dmitri, trying his best to help him spot anything that stands out.

The bodies of the other zombies are very non-descript...but the robed zombie have, of course, robes on, hiding a golden amulet of what looks like an Egyptian Eye. They look gold and feel like gold, other than that, there is not really much else you can tell by simply looking at them. In the robes you find a simple dagger and a wand of cause light wounds...on each robed zombie. You can tell that the other zombies are very decayed and rotted as if brought from a grave slumber...but the robed zombies seem to be simply aged to an extreme. On the other zombies your search turns up a myriad of random gold and copper pieces totaling approximately 100 gold in all. All this you can tell from looking at and searching the zombies.

Clearly he's attempting a Disable Device check! :P
Jerimiah Spilane |
Well, obviously.
Brian WhiteAngel |
Brian holds up the gold amulet. "Y'know, you'd think that I'd know what this is referring to."
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
"Buuuut I don't."
We all get 20 gp each. Perhaps Jerimiah could help us out with some dice rolls? At least his int bonus will be bigger than mine. =)
"Jerimiah, since you're that MU, ya wanna take hurt sticks?"
Jerimiah Spilane |
"What is an... Moo?" He asks hesitantly, while looking at the various magic things.
Spellcraft to identify wand 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Spellcraft to identify wand 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Spellcraft to identify necklace: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Michael Johnson DM85 |
(Magic User=MU)
You can easily tell that the wands are Cause Light Wounds Lvl 1 (1d8+1) 20 unused charges in total.
The necklace (super awesome roll by the way) is a cursed necklace of Control Undead. You are almost certain that the magical curse is what caused them to become undead, looking like they were aged a hundred years...or more.
Knowledge religion, which no one has very much in could tell you about the symbol...but that isn't vital right now.
Ok, now your options are open for what you would like to do.
Jerimiah Spilane |
"Ach! Lassen Sie das jetz! It has a powerful curse which would turn you into one of them!" He shouts out to Brian, frantically.
Brian WhiteAngel |
Brian doesn't understand what the foreigner is on about. "Ah! Balls, man, I was gonna go and even lewt distribution since you already got t3h w4ndz, but if you want all t3h shIneez, fine, be that way." Brian casually tosses the medallion at the Arcanist.
"Alright! That was invigorating! Xp an' l00tz! Alright, now what? Should we keep going where we were going? Um...where were we going?"
Jerimiah Spilane |
Jerimiah fumbles with the necklace, before throwing it off in some random direction. "Do not play me as some money grubbing fool, Herr White! If you wish to wear the verfluchte Artefakt, you are welcome to fetch it and do so."
Dmitri McLanski |
I think perhaps that wasn't the best way to dispose of it... Dmitri says as he goes to find the amulet, gingerly wrapping it in a strip of cloth and placing it in his bag before returning to the company.
Wouldn't want anyone to find it and succumb to its curse. I'm sure there's a room in the temple for just such objects. Should we continue tracking our quarry?
Jerimiah Spilane |
The bespeckled man huffs, "I'd have been more careful if the dummkopf didn't insist on launching it at me." He absently wipes away some stray dust earned being near the fight. "I'm very troubled with the knowledge that many of these things may have been passing through here. Herr Kotan, you must know this area better then any of us, can you guess as to where they were heading? Is there a settlement of some sort near here?"
Justin "TD" Ray |
Replacing his potion and sheathing his weapon, TD gives Brian a rallying fist pump and calls out, "Onwards then! Let's see just what may be going on in this East that you speak so fondly of!"
Slinging his backpack over his shoulders again, he prepares to embark with the others.
Jerimiah Spilane |
"A map would've been smart to bring along..."
Lanx Kotan |
"You are free to draw your own map from what you remember, but there is a map at the temple. I suggest, in fact, a quick jog to the temple for some gathering if resources and especially some map construction before heading out."
(I'll use Imgur or something to post a hand drawn map of where you all have been and I'll update it periodically.)
Jerimiah Spilane |

"I am of the suspicion a quick jog for you has a different meaning then it does for us..."
Justin "TD" Ray |
Shuffling the weight of his backpack across his shoulders, Justin lets out a sigh in agreement.
"That's the truth.. Well, at least we're getting exercise.. Right? And hell, we get to sleep in a 'home' instead of the 'outside,' so that'll be a plus, at least."
As he begins walking with the others, he gives Jerimiah a slap on the back as he passes.
Jerimiah Spilane |
"I beleive we are somewhere in... this area..." He says hesitantly, circling his finger over an ambiguous part of the map.
Jerimiah Spilane |
"Ah... I'll miss that place as well, overpriced coffee was part of my morning routine. And I don't see why they wouldn't, when they have so many other plants and animals seen back home..."
Brian WhiteAngel |
Brian rubs his chin and goes "Hmmmmmmm. It looks like we could use the services of a cartographer. That is, unless we first comes across a wagon of chinchillas, then we'll do that."
Brina keeps heading East.
Michael Johnson DM85 |
So if we are headed toward the temple good, I can easily say you encounter nothing on your way south to the temple, you are right next to the bigger road and it is only a half day journey at most. Once everyone arrives at the temple, you nay certainly request for coffee beans. There is more to do once we arrive at the temple.

Yes, we can see the map. Unfortunately it's hard to tell what it says. Maybe type something up in Word and try that? As an Angband veteran, I can say that often B&W alpha-numeric representation can be a better way of communicating data than a less precise color graph. Jus' sayin'. =) Also, is the temple in a town? I thought we were heading toward a town. I know we need a map at the temple, and the temple in a town, and the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true, but only when it's dark on Tuesdays. ;)
Brian enters the temple. "Greetings to you, brother. We were wondering if you had a map of the locals territory? Perhaps if you could speak to us a word of the local political situation and goings on, that would be helpful, as we are -quite- new to the region. Indeed, assume that we arrived here only hours ago from a different planet. Yes, that would be most helpful."
Michael Johnson DM85 |
It's been days since you arrived...weeks for some. The temple is in a heavily forested area, completely secluded from all society. A half days journey east is a mining town, where you found child labor and "dog spiders". Half a days journey west, Lanx says there had been a druid encampment he helped to settle that area..twenty years ago. Almost a week north is the capitol city. About 3 days south is a coastal city with ships in port. There is obviously an illusion spell on the temple hiding it from travelers...they go around the temple while traveling these intersecting roads.
You all had gone west, found raging wolves, followed their trail south to their den. Found clues and footprints that led south and came from the north. Following them north you met a horde of zombies, you broke from the path to follow them easr. After your fight with them, you went back to the temple.
That is a verbal explanation of the map. If someone with art skills could cartographer that. The mining town has an elvish name. Ostar En' I' Luma' Tinco Amin

Everyone is level 3 now. All the fact finding and monster slaughter brings you to know your skills better. You can meet with your specialist to learn more about your specialization. For leveling, Lanx Kotan gives you 2,000 Gold to fund your campaign against the growing evil. (You will be receiving gold from Lanx until level 10, by that point I would hope you are getting gold one way or another) the caravan does not have magical items or very many wondrous items. Lanx is willing to run to the capitol city in the north to help you find items, but the Golden Hand has a heavy tax on the public and things are at least twice as expensive outside the temple. In the temple you can get anything masterwork and below from the merchant caravan that is parked there.
