Molitor Rask
Just for yucks, Molitor tries the key we found earlier in the lockbox.
Molitor Rask
"Ahem .... we will remember to try the keys next time...."
Molitor leads the group back up through the hidey hole and back to room h2.
He helps Marcus drag his prisoner back up to the main level.
When they're back in h2, he listens at the door in the east wall.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
If he doesn't hear anything, he will try the door and see if it is locked.
Tanrov Shadow-Graxt
Tanrov will accompany Molitor back up and also listen at the door
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Xandarian Quartermain
Xandarian whispers, "Remember, I'm down to cantrips, so please, PLEASE, be careful."
drbuzzard
Now hold your horses there. While you young whippersnappers with your static video game dungeons (GET OFF MY LAWN) might think clearing a section makes it stay clear, it doesn't do that in my world.
Since Molitor is all fired up to lead, he's the first to get to the ladder to climb up, which means the people up top waiting for him have a proper introduction prepared.
1d20 ⇒ 15 and using Moli's perception, he doesn't notice them as he climbs the ladder.

Am I at the top of the ladder? What exactly is the situation?
Molitor Rask
Don't forget I've still got a +2 Natural Armor from Mutagen. Flat Footed AC is 16. Mutagen lasts 40 minutes.
Tanrov Shadow-Graxt
Tanrov starts/keeps climbing at seeing Molitors predicament
Molitor Rask
he's going to come up behind me, goosing me with that hammer of his as encouragement.
Tanrov Shadow-Graxt
Goose Goose
Tanrov will move up when he can then

Kudos to buzzard for hitting me up as I indeed had lost the dot
"Hurry up and move out of the way, lollygaggers! I am carrying a goddamn prisoner down here!"
I will wait for my turn to... do my turn. Is it possible to carry the lady prisoner on my shoulder up the ladder or we'll have to come up with a pulley system after Molitor finishes getting the crap beat out of him?
Molitor Rask
Just hit me already
drbuzzard
Figured Xan might actually want to act, but OK.
3 attacks with club
to hit: 1d20 ⇒ 11 damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 miss
1 attacks with glaive
to hit: 1d20 ⇒ 5 damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 miss
2 tries to attack around the corner with a scythe
to hit: 1d20 ⇒ 7 damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 4) + 3 = 9 miss
PCs are up
Molitor Rask
Molitor leans back on his right foot and gestures to the door on the far side of the room with his greataxe to "call his shot".
Then he winds up and smacks the human with the scythe's head right off his shoulders with a mighty swing, sending it careening across the room and through the door.
great axe: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 (mutagen)
damage: 1d12 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
confirm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
crit damage: 2d12 + 18 ⇒ (4, 2) + 18 = 24
If he drops, Molitor 5' steps into his square to clear the ladder.
drbuzzard
While that was very cool and all, and the dice did cooperate, there's a number of problems.
First, you are still climbing up the ladder- so:
You need both hands free to climb, but you may cling to a wall with one hand while you cast a spell or take some other action that requires only one hand. While climbing, you can’t move to avoid a blow, so you lose your Dexterity bonus to AC (if any). You also can’t use a shield while climbing.
So no axe.
Then, the target you chose (human with scythe, designated #2) is around a hard corner so even if you had offed him, you could not actually get into his space.
Not to mention since you still need to finish climbing, you cannot take a 5' step.
So, let's conform this to the rules and actual situation.
You hit with a trog claw.
damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
it crits
damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
This does actually drop #2, but you need to keep climbing, which will provoke if you choose to do it. You did, of course, eliminate the only foe who wouldn't get an AOO on you due to the hard corner providing cover.
Now you can choose if you finish your climb or not, but there's really no place to go.
Molitor Rask
I do not understand.
Last round I was at the top of the ladder.
I will move into the space, even if it provokes.
Xandarian Quartermain
Looking up the ladder, the cleric grimaces "Godsdamnit! It's a death hole! We need to find another way up!"
Molitor Rask
"Don't leave me hangin' bro!"
Tanrov Shadow-Graxt
Tanrov will go up if Marcus or Kevin don't go first and attempt to assist Molitor
Tanrov Shadow-Graxt
Assuming Tanrov cannot draw his earthbreaker he will use his cestus on the human with the glaive
Cestus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Cestus Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
"Hey I hit one this time Moli, I might just be able to save you
Molitor Rask
"You're not saving me! I am saving you!"
Tanrov Shadow-Graxt
Yes Sir Evil Birdface Sir.
"Whatever"
Xandarian Quartermain
Cursing inwardly, Xandarian quickly climbs the ladder, praying he makes it up alive.
drbuzzard
Xan, because of the hard corner, you can't actually get there. I shouldn't have let Molitor go where he is either since he would have to go through an enemy square.
The remaining mongrelman and their human leader strike at those who've made it up the ladder.
The human steps back first, so they can continue to use their glaive.
on Moli
to hit: 1d20 ⇒ 13 damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 hit
and a mongrelman on Moli
to hit: 1d20 ⇒ 14 damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 miss
Mongrelmen on Tanrov
to hit: 1d20 ⇒ 17 damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 hit
PCs are up.
Molitor Rask
Molitor takes a 5' step into the middle of the room and smacks the one blocking Tanrov in the back of the head.
great axe: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 = 15 (mutagen,flank)
damage: 1d12 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
(Mutagen:+4 str, -2 int, +2 natural armor
Tanrov Shadow-Graxt
Tanrov will draw his earthbreaker and move up to the glaive fighter, only taking a non-provoking 5 ft step if that is all that is needed and then attacks
Earthbreaker: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Earthbreaker Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
Molitor Rask
Molitor breathes a sigh of relief at the incompetence of his enemies.
"Wheew......"
He swings at mongrel #4.
great axe: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 (mutagen)
damage: 1d12 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
(Mutagen:+4 str, -2 int, +2 natural armor)
Molitor Rask
Molitor slings his blood splattered greataxe about and sings in a gravelly voice:
"I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK
I sleep all night and I work all day."
