Erodel then turns around to the goblin and in one blow sends the head rolling back through the grease.

That ends Round 1 with only the commando still alive, but on the ground.

This group of goblins appear to from yet another tribe than the two previous groups.

As your groups attempts to decide how best to keep the Commando subdued, you realize that he has now stopped breathing as it appears he has bleed out from the wound he had taken from Erodel.

Seeing that the goblins are dealt with, the man behind the water barrel cautiously comes over to your group thanking the lot of you profusely. Coming up to Erodel, That was a most powerful blow sir, you never severed him in half with one blow and so brave of you lot to just charge right in without regard to your own safety. Please, you all must come and visit me at the "Rusty Dragon" where I'll be staying for the next few days. I'd love a chance to talk more and find someway to reward you lot for saving my life. Oh, please forgive me for being so forgetful, I haven't even introduced myself yet. My name is Aldern Foxglove.

By this time the sounds of fighting in the town have died down and you think that the battle may be over.

"My name is Elransil Farseer, and I'm glad we could help you. I"m just sorry we didn't get here in time to help your dog."

The ranger will take a quick look at the animal to see if it can still be saved. Then he'll look around, wanting to make sure no one else is in immediate danger.

Extending his hand.. "Erodel, if you think you can make it back by yourself, you should do so. It looks like we have more work ahead of us today." As he looks over his shoulder towards his wandering compatriots.

If Aldern has nothing else to say, Erodel will lead him back or go with the others if he has his own plan

Gear found on the Commando: studded leather (small), masterwork horsechopper, small wooden shield, shortbow with 15 arrows.

As you look around the town, you see that the fighting appears to be over. The bodies laying about appear to be mostly goblins. It seems that they failed to kill more than a few of the townsfolk, though there are plenty that have various injuries from the attack. The injuries range from cuts of various sizes (mostly around mid-thigh area) to burns and smoke inhalation from the goblins attempts to set everything they could afire.

You may assist the wounded, help take the bodies of the fallen townsfolk to the cathedral to await funeral preparations, drag goblin bodies to the bonfire pit for disposal or assist with the few goblins that were actually captured alive. In fact, not far from you a group are attempting to free a goblin from the well that he landed and take him into custody in order to question him about the raid.

losing power to Irene and work has called me in. Will post later tonight.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard 2

Manx looks for someone in charge, wanting to know what happened with the guards.

Is the city walled? If so, how did they get in?

@Elransil - You will be forgiven if unable to post during a natural disaster.

Most of the city is located on a Peninsula with the side that is connected to the mainland protected by a stone wall. There are also two bridges that connect the south-eastern part of the peninsula to the mainland.

Questioning guards and townsfolk regarding the attack:

No one is quite sure how so many goblins got in yet which is why they want to try to question the few prisoners they have managed to capture. The guards at the wall only fought one band that rushed in through the open northern gate. There were only a handful of guards to watch the gates since no attack was expected and they were unable to stop them from rushing in. That still doesn't explain the other bands of goblins fought in the town though and that has people a bit concerned as to how the rest snuck in. So far goblins from a total of 5 different tribes have been recognized among the dead and captured.

The guardsmen will accept help with the prisoners and those of you who choose to help hear the goblins being interrogated, but they prove to be pretty much useless. None of these goblins know much more than that they were given orders to kill everyone in town and burn down the place.
None of the captured goblins can even remember their leader’s name, apart from the fact that he was one of “you longshanks.” Their leader was on a secret mission to the town’s graveyard—that much most goblins can say, but none of them know what that mission was. It was secret, after all!

Pik blinks, Well then, let's go! He takes off towards the graveyard, the raven squawking and taking flight as he runs.

When you arrive at the graveyard, you see a rather distressed Father Zantus talking to Sheriff Hemlock. In the background you see a couple of guardsmen wandering amongst the graves. Sheriff Hemlock will stop your group before you can enter the graveyard and asks that you let his men and the priests handle the search here. He asks that you make no mention of this search to anyone else for it would greatly distress the townsfolk to learn that the remains of Ezakien Tobyn have been stolen from the graveyard.

Common knowledge that he was the previous religious leader who died when the church burned down. Many townsfolk still discuss what a shame it was he and his daughter died in the fire.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 2

The half-elf will stay with his family, making sure they are alright and then help with the flow of injured people. He'll ask them all how they are and what happened, trying to glean any useful information that might reveal how the goblins got into the city or why they mounted the attack now.

He'll also keep an eye out for the people who helped him and his family, and invite them all to a meal together at The Rusty Dragon Inn to thank them and compare what they have learned.

Shadow Lodge

"Very well." Kicking the dirt as he leaves, starts to walk around the town.

@Elransil - The Thistletop goblins would be the only tribe strong enough to try and force and such unification. However, they have never tried such a unification before and as a general rule don't get along well.

This next section cover the next couple days following the attack, you may continue any roleplay that happens during this time or state any actions you wish to have done.

As Sandpoint recovers from the attack and buries its (thankfully few) dead, the citizens do their best to get on with their lives. The cathedral is consecrated the next day during a much more subdued and indoor ceremony, but by the end of the week, the goblin attack is remembered mostly with chuckles. Now that the terror of the raid is over, memories of goblins accidentally lighting themselves on fire, getting stepped on by horses, or drowning in rain barrels that were only half full in the first place render memories of the raid in an almost comical light. But one thing the locals haven’t forgotten is their new heroes.

Unless you lot choose to take extra care to hide it, your names soon becomes household knowledge. Everywhere that you may go in town, locals welcome you. A simple walk down Main Street results in local baker Alma Avertin charging out into the street and pressing a fresh-baked loaf of bread into the arms of Manx with worried comments that he must be starving. A visit to the Hagfish brings an immediate round of cheers, applause, and a round of drinks on the house (and likely a challenge to drink from Norah’s tank). A stop at Savah’s Armory is greeted with an instantaneous offer of 20% off anything in stock. Elransil's family sees their business increase as townsfolk stop by to congratulate them on their courageous son.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard 2

Manx will take the time to recuperate at the inn, spending the days in the main room.

Children are entertained by his seated replaying of the attack, wherein he creates comical caricatures of goblins with his prestidigitation. Manx figures that by making light of the goblin attack the children will soon forget the terror, especially when his simple goblin illusions stumble into the fireplace and dance around the tavern.

Perform-acting, takes 10, total 13

Radoslav seems a bit uncomfortable given the attention, but doesn't want to seem suspicious by actively avoiding recognition. He simply spends the days attempting to resupply as best he can and do research on the goblin remains. He'll try to avoid the places most likely to bring loud attention and will try to just lie as low as possible.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 2

Elransil will be a little taken aback at first, simply telling people he was just trying to protect everyone at the festival, including his family.

After a few days though, he'll start to enjoy the attention. He won't milk it for anything untoward, but the ranger will enjoy all the attention and share stories whenever people want to talk about that day.

Shadow Lodge

Glad to receive recognition for his work, Erodel will try and get himself lodgings at the Rusty Dragon Inn, if only to enjoy the fish and mead but also to keep himself in close contact with potential job offers.

If he gets the chance will thank Ameiko Kaijutsu personally for her offering, since he didn't get to before the goblins interrupted the festival.

And also if able, will seek out Aldren Foxglove to get his portion of the reward... and potentially some work.

Pik spends most of his time just wandering around the large city and watching people, his raven often flying overhead. He doesn't seem to mind the attention.

@Erodel - Ameiko is behind the bar in the tavern portion of the Rusty Dragon when you enter, enticing customers sitting there to try a spicy new dipping sauce she has just whipped up to try with her breaded fish bites. She accepts any thanks you offer her and when you inquire about lodgings she says that you and your friends are all welcome to stay at the Rusty Dragon for the rest of your stay here in Sandpoint.

You do happen to see Aldren Foxglove during your trip there, he soon waves you over to his table and buys you food and drink and begins talking of his plans for the rest of his stay here in Sandpoint. He explains that before he returns to his townhouse in Magnimar in a few more days, he was hoping to go on a boar hunt in nearby Tickwood, and would like to invite along both you and all your friends. After the attack he would feel a lot safer riding out in the company of such accomplished heroes. He offers to buy you all mounts for the hunt if any of your group doesn't have one.

@Everyone - Something that all of you may notice, are the occasional groups of girls and young women that seem to be noticeably more interested in the lot of you than they were before the attack. When you walk past you can still feel their eyes on you and you can hear the occasional giggle and whispers of your bravery.

@Elransil - Your sister mentions to you that several young women have questioned her regarding your availability, including her friend Marissa whose family of traders occasionally travels along with yours. Elizabeth seems to think that a "partnership" between the families would be a good financial move.

@Manx -After one of your storytelling sessions, a young woman bashfully approaches you and introduces herself as Shayliss Vinder and you recognize her as one of the daughters of the owner of Sandpoint's General Store. She claims that her father has been too distracted with her sister’s private life to keep up with the store’s pest problem and that the store has rats. Why, just yesterday, she’s sure she saw one the size of a goblin hiding behind a barrel at the far end of the basement. Her father doesn’t believe her, but she knows he’s just more distracted by what Katrine might or might not be up to at the lumber mill and who with. And since your obviously a hero in town, well, Shayliss just thought maybe said hero could come back with her to kill a few rats in the store’s basement. She stresses that there’s not many rats.

Thanking Ameiko for her generosity, Erodel accepts her offer to stay, and promises to pass her offer along to his 'friends'. As for Aldren, Erodel will inform him that he will make an effort to recruit his fellows, before thanking him for the meal and departing to go find his 'wayward companions'.

The offer to stay at the Inn, how much is it per night/week/month??

If he is able to track down / meet any of the other "Heroes of Sandpoint", will extend the offers made to him. "Greetings! I come bearing good news! The owner of the Rusty Dragon Inn, has offered us lodgings and the nobleman we saved has requested us to accompany him on a hunt in the nearby forest. What say you?"

Male Half-Elf Ranger 2

Elransil shakes his head, smiling, when he sister mentions the idea.

"Always thinking of the business, aren't you? Well, that's why you'll be good at it when you take over."

He suggests the two families have a meal together with no formal commitments, so everyone can get an idea of how such an arrangement would work out. He'll sit beside Marissa and talk with her, seeing just how much the two have in common and if there's any spark there.

If there is, he'll have no objections to beginning a courtship. But he'll make no immediate promises to do anything without making sure he and Marissa both like each other and not just the idea of each other. He wants to make sure no one in Marissa's family is pressuring her into doing this to take advantage of a business opportunity.

Since he and Erodel are staying at the same inn, he'll tell the armored man that he would be glad to accompany everyone on a hunt. He'll also ask around a bit to see who Aldren Foxglove is since he seems to be a man of at least some importance.

"Ahh, Miss Vindar, I appreciate your issue. What is this about your sister? Nothing serious I hope, was she injured in the attack?" not waiting for a response, Manx continues his distracting monologue, "I would so love to help you with your... problem."

Manx holds her hand and pets it gently, "Unfortunately, a prior engagement requires my absence for a day" Manx ponders for a moment, tell you what, when I have returned from this boar hunt, and I expect it to be just that," he gives her a slight smile and winks.

Leaning in a bit closer to her ear, in not quite a whisper "I shall go and investigate your basement when I return, I expect it to be a bit more... entertaining than getting lost in thickets and bushes.

Leaning back a bit, Manx looks her in the eye and continues "in the mean time, no playing in your basement! I will delve into that ebon passage and rout out any uncomforts with my trusty dagger. But tell me, will your father be pleased should I explore your basement, for I know not that I will be able to settle down with only one basement explored.

I'm thinking oratory would have been better than acting, oh well, I shall rectify at my next lvl. Yes, there is a teeny, tiny bit of inuendo there, pretty much everything after hello.

Gervar smiled at the offer of lodging and a hunt. "I would be honored to accept both offers. It has been a while since I was on the hunt. I need to keep my skills in practice and boar is a fine meat for the table."

@Manx -subtle as a brick to the head Shayliss pouts a bit, but seems to accept you at your word that you will return to assist her. She reminds you that you are more than capable of dealing with her basement issue on you own and then takes her leave.

@Elransil - All you can recall is that he is a typical noble of no spectacular reputation. Also, your sister said to give her a few days to set up a suitable dinner.

@Everyone - The next day Aldern looks for any of you in the common room at the Rusty Dragon, asking that you fetch the rest of your comrades and meet up with him shortly at the Goblin Squash Stables where he has arranged for each of you to pick out your own horse to take on the boar hunt that afternoon.

Manx takes a look at the horses, and watches the others tentatively make their selections.

Manx takes a walk through the horses, softly talking to each as he lets each take a sniff of his upraised hand before giving them a rub behind the ears or under the chin. Realizing that he really doesn't know what to look for, Manx turns and looks for someone that does.

Seeing the wrangler watching from the side of the pen, Manx approaches "I'm sure you can see that we are a bit inexperienced with these grand creatures. I would appreciate your assistance in a selection. Preferably one less skittish, and easily managed."

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 61d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Aldern meets you all at the stables and encourages you to pick out whatever mounts you like. Manx, the wrangler helps you to pick out a calm, well trained mount. The wrangler also assists Erodel in picking out a mount sturdy enough to carry the weight of him and his armor.

After the matter of the horses has been decided, Aldern invites everyone back to the Rusty Dragon where he would like to treat everyone to lunch before taking off on the hunt. Aldern realizes that you most likely hadn't expected to be hunting boar on you visit here in Sandpoint, so he will provide a boar spear to whoever wishes to use one. A boar spear is relatively short and heavy and has two "wings" on the spearsocket behind the blade, which act as a barrier to prevent an injured and furious boar from working its way up the shaft of the spear to attack the hunter.

After lunch, you return to the stables where Aldern's three manservants have already saddled up your new horses. Aldern will then lead the lot of you plus his manservants out of town and west over Tanner’s Bridge and along the southern banks of the Turandarok River. It’s a two mile ride to the Tickwood Ford, just north of the upthrust limestone escarpment known as the Devil’s Platter. Despite its ominous name, Tickwood is actually a relatively safe woodland, one well known to be the home of wild boars, deer, and perhaps one or two firepelt cougars—no goblin tribes dwell within its boundaries.

During the ride Aldern prattles on, asking all of you seemingly endless questions about your lives and what other adventures you have been on, have you had much experience fighting goblins? Have you managed to defeat any interesting monsters, rescued any damsels in distress?

Shadow Lodge

Male Human

Testing out the weight of the spear, Erodel will take one with him on the outing.
At Aldren's questions, Erodel keeps his replies short, while rearranging his scarf as it seems to be ever eager to be snagged by something on his saddle. "Guarded merchants, sometimes a noble."

Determined to stay close to his charge, he tries to have his mount keep pace with Alden's as he scans the surroundings.
