Alis grits her teeth, trying to shut out thoughts of what's happened just a few feet above her head.

Don't you die on me, Darv...

Looking at the lock, picks in hand, her eyes narrowed.

No traps, but it looks like a tough one...

Closing her eyes for a moment, the young woman took a deep breath, allowing a higher understanding to fill her sense. In a heartbeat the intentions of the locksmith filled her senses with his insight, and she smiled at Súmalya's gift.

I see it...

With hands steady as a surgeon's she lightly plucked at the pins torquing the tumbler ever so slightly at precisely the right time *CLICK!* Just like that, the work of the master craftsman yielded to her delicate urging and she caught the heavy lock in her palm.

Luck, skill, and insight... thank you Lady!

"Nail my...? Psha!" 'Sarah' shook her head disapprovingly at the captain's disrespectful, albeit colorful orders.

With more that a hint of satisfaction, 'Sarah' winced, playing up the impact of the one-two combo Darvesch just delivered. "All fun and games until someone loses an eye."

Winking to one of the pirates with a crossbow trained on her, she added, "Then it's a new game called Find the Eye!"

Yet her mirth soon suffered a vicious blow as Darvesch's axe hit the deck. "Well that's not good," she murmured, even as the marksmen grinned at the turn of events.

Swim faster Mal...

Lureene sees the hostilities break out below her and readies herself for action. She allows her progress to slow enough so the Falcata sails under her. Fly to D27.

OH My GOD...he is gorgeous! Focus...El FOCUS!! Plenty of time later for that.... She speaks to the half-elven noble through Grak's lips...

Grak allows his mistress to take control of his senses, even as he slithers between the bars effortlessly. He flies down next to the half-elven noble and whispers in his ears....

"Sssir Elf, I am ssspeaking to you from my familiar. My name is Lady Lureene and we are here to free you! Grak will assssist you...I must go now..."

Although there is too much noise from above and too many other matters pressing them to hear the sound of the lock being picked, Lilyana and Isaac both hear the sound of someone or something lisping to them from between their cells.

Although she does not stop concentrating on softly singing her melody, Lilyana does peer at the place from whence it came and just barely notices the slight disruption in the dirt and grime on the floor. Hesitantly, she scoops up some of the straw padding her cage and sprinkles it over top of Grak reveal (at least partially) that some sort of invisible creature is there.

But who is Lady Lureene?

All Isaac could think about for the moment was how annoying these cages they were put in were. Though when a lisping voice purred into his ear, he couldn’t help but feel a shiver run down his spine. Was he caught even with all those things going on above? Eyes wide, he turned to look at where the voice came from and watched as Lily leaned forward to sprinkle hay dust on the snake like creature to reveal part of it.

Though as fine as he was with the thing trying to help them, he wasn’t sure how much use a small creature like that would be, and the most important question of all, who the hell is Lady Lureene? Panting a little from fighting with his cell, he glanced up at his sister who was still singing a song he was rather familiar with at this point and sighed. ”Thanks for the help, not sure what something like you can do though...” He said not sounding to terribly concerned with the tiny creature and started to pray at the bar’s again, he had to get this thing open, whatever was going on up above, it wasn’t sounding too good for the dwarf.

While Ozyrankhus stood, clutching his hands toward the sky, and the whispy beginnings of clouds began to form at his command, Alis quietly lifted the bar holding the aft door. At a few murmurs from the slaves behind her, she cringed and whispered in broken Zuckish, "Friend-brothers, we are help here to your freedom. Kind to be your silent aiding."

Gods, I hope that made some sense...

With that, she slipped inside, carrying the bar with her, finding before her the two kidnapped nobles she had heard about. To her left, a young woman was quietly singing an inspirational hymn she was quite familiar with, while the other was hard at work attempting to pry his cage apart. It seemed he had partially succeeded.

Between the two of them, lay Grak coiled upon the floor and pawing at his slender, forked tongue as he tried to get a piece of straw off of it. He did not look amused.

In order to avert any sudden outbursts, she said quietly in elvish one of their people's most ancient salutations, "Elen sila lumenn omentielvo!*"

Lilyana notes the floating bar and the whispered greeting and bows her head respectfully. "May the stars shine always upon your path. Lady Lureene, I presume?"

Grak, easily smelling the Princess, hisses softly in response to the young elf girl. "Nooo...itsss Princessss Alissss, my missstresss' bossss."

Lilyana's singing halts with a sharp intake of breath, mouth agape. Crossing her hands over her chest, she bows low, nose nearly touching the ground. "Your highness! Please forgive my presumptuousness, I intended no disrespect!"

For several heartbeats, there is an uncomfortable silence, before Alis says gently, "There's nothing to forgive, my dear. Please, tell me your names, and let's focus on freeing you. My poor cousin picked a fight with the captain before the rest of my team could get into position so time is short."

Lilyana winces and knocks her head against the floor for forgetting to introduce themselves. Sitting up into a kneeling position with her feet crossed below her bottom and hands folded in her lap, she took a deep breath and said, "Your highness, might I introduce Major Isaac Hlokenar, Marshall of Port Eldarion. I am Lilyana Hlokenar, his younger sister. You may know of our father, General Aurvandur has dutifully served King Aramandil in Dafar for over a century."

Dwarf Lightbringer

Darvesch shifts his focus on accuracy over damage, "Take that!" and tries to push the captain back as hard as he can. After Darvesch pushes the captain, he picks up his cousin's axe.

He's going to do a couple things here. First, change his judgment to 'justice' (+2 attack). Then he'll initiate a bull rush. Since he has no feats for it, it'll draw an AoO from the Captain. If D beats his CMD, he's pushed back 5' (one square). For every 5 over his CMD Darvesch rolls, he gets to push him another 5'.

Rolls/GM:

Isaac, slowly getting more and more frustrated with this contraption, couldn’t understand why he couldn’t pry this thing open when he had torn apart things that looked tougher than this before. Before he could pry at it again, the door clicked open and both he and his sister looked up to see who had just walked in, and when he saw no one, he felt his heart drop a bit. He had no idea who it was, and it didn’t help that he couldn’t see the person who had just slipped into the room. Once a voice was heard, a female voice, he relaxed slightly since the words seemed friendly enough.

Maybe this was Lady Lureene that had spoken through her familiar to them before, but before he could even ask, his sister beat him to the question. Turning to look at Lily, he frowned at her, but was proud that she was being brave enough to ask a stranger a question in such a scary situation like this. Before he could comment on his sister’s boldness, the snake like creature piped up and explained who it was that was standing before them.

Isaac dropped to one knee quicker than Alis could blink; his eyes glued on the floor for a moment, his movements were nearly in-sync with his sisters. ”Your highness… I wish these were better circumstances to meet each other under.” He didn’t dare look up at her –well in her general direction-, this was the woman who was basically going to take his position, and he was looking like a fool in a cage that be couldn’t get out of. What kind of leader let themselves be taken hostage? It made his stomach turn, but he wasn’t going to let it show.

”I would have been out by now, but I believe the blow to my head has made things far more difficult than they should be.” he explained, that being the only conclusion he could make from not breaking himself free by this point, ”and it seems I am in need of a little assistance if you’d be so kind my lady.” Green eyes finally turn back up to them as he watches the little snake like creature wrap itself around the bar and a smile spread across his face as it seemed they were going to assist him.

Standing up, he took the crowbar that was offered to him and nodded, “Thank you my lady, and thank you little one.”It was all he could say for now. He felt he was running out time, there was a fight going on, and he was being useless in this cage.

The captain grits his teeth as the metal-clad warrior prepares to ram him off the ship. "Bullock to this!" He levels a slash intended to take the dwarf's off at the shoulders, but Darvesch ducks down behind his shield as he slams into the taller warrior with all his might.

Still using his shield for cover, and desperately hoping to hear a splash, the dwarf instead heard an intake of breath and a sudden sigh from the crew. Even as his hand closed about the haft of Grimnon's axe, he heard a grim voice say, "If'n I wasn't obliged to filet ya, I'd might buy you a pint. Thing is..."

A blade flashes just under Darvesch's chin, missing this throat by a hair's breadth, "I know that trick too."

With those words, any other man might have expected to get bowled over in return, but Darvesch sees thru the captain's feint and notes the sidestep. While it is not enough to block the taller man's retaliation, he can see the look of frustration in the brigand's burning blue eyes when he realizes that he failed to drop the dwarf to the deck in a pool of his own blood. Yes, yes, YES? No. Damn that would have sent even Mal flying. Oh no... Darv don't–

'Sarah' stiffens thinking she was about to see Darvesch get run through when instead the canny dwarf anticipates the captain's ruse and avoids getting skewered.

"Phew!" Her relief is audible, "GIVE HIM HELL, DARV!"

All around her, the crew is dead silent save for the beating of drums, the toiling of the rowers, and the mutterings of the red-robed one. Far above, the sky begins to change in color, blue slowly fading to white as it starts to become overcast.

Come on, Hellhammer, give him another couple hits like those last two and it's a different game...

Theme: Stand Up, Be Strong

Below deck, it sounds like the ceiling is about to crash down. Still heaving away, the Major very nearly drops the bar in surprise, the damnable cage still resisting their combined efforts. Glad that the others cannot see the worry on her face (let alone her wet hair and soaked clothes), Alis says encouragingly, "Sounds like Darvesch really is giving him hell!"

Even as Grak lisped out its compliment and offer of aid, he could suddenly feel the soft warm touch of a woman's hands beside his own. "Let's keep on trying, shall we," the invisible princess said.

Even as Alis' hand brushed his, a sudden insight fills Isaac's mind of a possible weak-point to try and he adjusted his grip.

"You'll fatigue if you don't breathe, just take it slow and steady. Your princess has faith in you, Major. Luck is on your side today."

With that, she braces herself, hoping to add her own strength to the attempt, "Ready?"

Rolls:

Cam: Alis just used Diviner's Fortune on you along with an Aid Another action. Add a +4 insight bonus on the attempt, and a +4 AA bonus (2 for Alis, 2 for Grak). Total bonus then are: +5 Str, +4 crowbar, +4 insight, +4 AA, +2 morale (Lily's song). In fact, if you take 10 on the check, you'll get a 29. :)

Eric: Lureene realizes that it's a Control Weather spell — one that Ieana had only been able to cast while Yarzoth was possessing her by means of the Soul Crown. However, from what you know, it takes no less than 10 minutes to cast the spell and another 10 for the change in weather to fully manifest. With a sinking feeling, you realize that the red-robe must have already cast his spell long before this battle and is only just now choosing to exert his will. You've not sure if whatever he has planned could be averted now unless he changed his mind.

SONOFA---

Lureene utters a few choice words in her native Abyssal tongue under her breath. Hurriedly she informs Grak of this unpleasant development.

Gods be damned...what the devil is this cell made out of adamantine or something? he thought to himself, but before he could get flustered, he heard the little snake thing hiss again and call him handsome. Not only that, but a warm invisible hand reached out and touched his arm and offered him kind words. Sighing softly, he gave her a thin smile, and nodded. "Thank you, yes, I'm ready." He said taking a moment to relax and focus on what he was doing.

With the new inspiration, and the advice to take his time, this time, when he put his efforts into prying the bars open, they let out a much needed and satisfying groan as it finally came undone.

Take 10 +5 +4 +4 +2 +2 = 27

Once the cage door has been broken, Grak hurriedly slithers over to the Princess, hissing softly "Princesss, mistresss says the red robed man is controlling the weather and bad stormsss is coming."

With a tremendous, but measured pull, Isaac pops the entire bar free from its frame. He stumbles backwards, but an invisible hand catches the broken bar before it can clatter to the floor.

"Well done!"

Lily clasps her hands together in youthful excitement at the turn of events, even as she wonders at whatever it was the princess just did to aid her brother.

That way of speaking, the look of calm confidence on brother's face— well, when he was concentrating anyway... does the princess also serve Lyria? I never even heard her cast a spell!

Post Count: 7,777!!!!

With a nearly deafening shout, Darvesch spins out from under the taller warrior and putting his momentum to good use sends the man reeling from a devastating wound to the chest. 'The Beard' as his men call him, very nearly dodges Darvesch follow-up...

...but almost doesn't count.

With crushing force and accuracy, the dwarf brings his axe down on the captain's leg, taking it off at the knee with the sound of splintering bone and the spray of blood! There is a collective gasp from the entire crew and even the aloof mage is given pause, a look of genuine surprise on his face.

For perhaps a heartbeat, maybe two the captain stands, staggered and shocked before toppling like a felled oak, his last words as he falls are, "Always knew... it'd be some short prick..."

"Impressive," 'Sarah' comments, "most impressive!"

High above the action, Lureene watches the final blow by Darvesch, against the Captain. As he drops to the deck, she gives a mental cheer, which is felt by Grak through their link.

That Darvesch is quite the warrior!! But I need to be watchful here, no telling how the crew will react...

"My Lord Tyralor, Captain Namrath," Nimniel lowers the burlwood spyglass she was using, "it appears that the dwarf has defeated the captain of the enemy vessel in single combat."

She collapses the gold-rimmed, telescoping device back into a short, wide cylinder and returns it to her pocket.

"And the crew," the older commander prompted, eyes assaying the increasingly unwelcome change in the weather, "how have they responded?"

Lips pursed, the tall woman paused, before answering, concerned perhaps about whatever was afflicting Prince Tyralor earlier.

What could it mean? Did something transpire that eluded my notice?

Turning back to the captain, she answered simply, "That remains to be seen, Sir."

Note: Local game tonight, so I'm pausing here for a bit so that we can segue back to Tyralor.

Darvesch wrote:

There is a deafening yell followed by silence and a loud *THUD!*

Directly beneath the scene of the desperate duel, everyone freezes trying to remain completely silent let they be overheard. Other than your heartbeats, and the motion of the ship, the most noticeable sound is the plip-plop of spattering liquid as blood drips down from the hatch in the ceiling, outlining the invisible princess.

Uugh, some first impression I'll make...

In a hush, she whispers, "My honor-cousin must have won otherwise the crew would be cheering. Come on, let's hurry."

As the Major clambers out of his cage, the princess steps out of the way drawing a dagger for Lilyana to use. Even as the others see her bloody silhouette stoop and a dagger appear on the floor of the young woman's cage, they notice her bloody outline disappear with the aid of a prestidigitation cantrip.

Isaac's sister brightens and nods enthusiastically, sweeping up the dagger and giving it a quick spin to test its balance. "Yes, indeed I can, your highness!"

After a moment, she adds, "Did you come across my brother's sabre by any chance? I overheard the woman who delivered him to this vessel state that she had taken both it and his helm as proof of our capture."

Alis frowns and shakes her head before remembering that the others cannot see her. "I came straight here when Lureene informed me that Grak had found you. So no, I've not yet searched the ship. Isaac, you didn't happen to see this woman, did you? Could you describe her later?"

Finally getting out of his cage and standing up to his full length just to stretch for a moment, than he ducked back down. Green focused eyes glance up as the sounds coming from above of them sounded like the battle had just ended. Blood dripping down, his eyes followed it and saw it outline the princess, she's so small... he thought, not sure what he expected from her, or why he even thought she would be taller. Giving her a short bow that would have been much deeper if they weren't in such a hostile place. "Thank you.."his tone was soft and quiet mostly because the noise above them had died down, and he didn't need to bring any attention to them needlessly.

Nodding in agreeance to Alis when she said that her honor-cousin had won. "Sounds like it. Though things could very ugly up there very quickly... I don't believe the crew will take too kindly to their captain being out-done." he said carefully stepping over to Lilyana's cage and wrapped his fingers around the bars as he looked for a way to get it open. Seeing that there was no real way to get it open with out going above. Whispering to her, "I don't think I can get in Lily... are you going to be okay down here by yourself?"he asked and gave her a reassuring smile when she nodded her head to him.

Looking over his shoulder when she Alis said that she had not found his saber, he frowned, concern about going out with out a weapon, he was sure he'd find something. As to what she looked like, he had to think, "The woman who attacked me and took my saber was tall, and lean. She was donned in vermillion red leather armor that resembled a wasp, skin tight black leather under that..." he than let out a soft sigh, "I couldn't make out her face, she was wearing a mask that looked like a giant wasp, but I am pretty sure she was elven. That's all I can recall my lady." He answered her and stood back up, turning away from Lilyana to face Alis.

Alis notes that Isaac has to duck beneath the 6-foot ceiling he hit his head. As the Major extricates himself and stands back from the hatch, he can indeed see the black-bearded captain lying on the deck, cutlass still in hand. It wasn't Isaac's own blade, the cutlass being shorter and thicker than his own sabre, but the handling should at least prove similar... if he could get to it.

Standing by the fallen pirate, he could just make out the shield and leg of a dwarf along with the head of a burning black axe head.

Gods, Alis thought, it's a good thing Aycenia's fruit helped me to grow a bit taller. I bet Tyralor and Isaac would think I was a real shrimp otherwise...

Upon hearing the description of the siblings' captor, Alis' reply is grim, "Order of the Wasp, lovely. I'm sure Sasha will be thrilled to death at the prospect of a family reunion. Alright Lilyana, stay quiet for a moment longer and we'll–"

"THE BASTARD KILLED CAPTAIN, GET HIM!"

As the ship erupts into unholy calamity, Alis finishes, no longer bothering to whisper, "We'll let you out once the ship is secure."

"Major?" Isaac feels a small soft hand take him by the wrist while another presses the haft of a small mace into his palm. "Let's go."

With that, she bumps open the door with her hip and steps out beneath the catwalk above revealing ranks of black-skinned Zucks looking up at the confusion above, some with trepidation, others with hope. More than half drop their oars, hooting and howling in jubilation at the prospect of vindication.

Top-side, Lureene sees the two men who shot Alis down emerge from the prow attempting to scramble back up the ladder to the deck to see what's wrong. Even as the first man makes it up, the other grits his teeth and ducks behind the wall, shouting up, "This ain't good, if them blacks start breakin' their oars we're finished!"

Nearby the Brute stops pounding his drum to give an insistent blow on his horn. It's to no end. A deep growl emanates from his massive chest and the sailors standing near him blanch in fear.

Lureene hears the cries of the sailors eager for bloodthirsty revenge and knows the time has come to reveal herself. Her Father's words echo in her mind..."If you want peace, then end such battles quickly!"

I need to eliminate the most dangerous threat...well other than that mage. Still if he interrupts his spell to handle me, that would be fine by me.

She flies down closer to catch her target in the range of her spell. Now, I will give these sailors something else to worry about! She then starts her incantation while pointing a slender finger at the confused brute .

Move action: fly to C29, about 30' up
Standard action: Cast Charm Monster at the Brute. Will save DC 18 or be charmed.

Male Human Fighter 4

"Hruuugh?" The enormous brute looks every which way until finally it sees the beautiful woman hovering near it. In a booming voice that resonates within its massive, horned helmet, it speaks in a tongue that only Lureene understands.

Infernal:
"Ravishing vision of temptation, this unworthy one is beholden by your unholy lustfulness. What would please you o' sweet whore?"

It occurs to Lureene that this creature, is not nearly so dumb as she thought, although the very way it describes her makes her feel dirty. However, it does occur to her that the language it speaks is not particularly well-suited to polite compliments.

At the behemoth's strange speech, the nearby sailors crane their necks to look up at the golden-winged beauty that has appeared from thin air. Their mouths gape wide wondering what her appearance might portend.

Dwarf Lightbringer

Darvesch moves between two of the slavers, cornering the mage that stands at the rear of the ship, raises his axe, "Surrender yourself, and this ship, and you'll not die this day. This is your one and only opportunity." Ready an action: If the mage doesn't agree to this, continues casting spells, or reacts negatively in any way, split him in two.

Rolls:

Power Attack 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 12 + 2 + 2 = 33 good hope, bane
Damage 1d10 + 12 + 2 + 1d6 + 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 12 + 2 + (6) + (1, 4) + 3 = 38 good hope,flaming, bane, judgement

The husky old mage looks down at the captain who is bleeding out all over the deck and comments with a chuckle of amusement, "Ah, I presume this is dwarven diplomacy then, is it? I was unaware that your kind was so very charitable, consider me quite impressed, yes quite."

With a shrug of his shoulder, the wild-haired man says, "Very well, I shall place myself under your protection then. As for this ship? Well to be quite frank that matter is beyond my control. You see, I am neither this ship's master nor a member of its crew, merely... a guest."

Sense Motive DC 21 (Darvesch, Priyya):
Something in the way that the mage answers makes Darvesch suspicious as if there is something he is holding back. Not only is his tone full of contempt, but he almost seems to be gloating, though you're not sure why.

Rolls:
Bluff 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21

Sense Motive Checks:
D 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22

"You're taking a risk trusting him Darv, better to just–"

"IDIOTS! FIRE!" The helmsman shouts the word as if the entire world has lost all sanity. At once, all four of the marksmen who had their crossbows trained on Priyya fire!

With a roar of anger, Darvesch reacts, swinging with everything he has at the man beside him. With a terrible cry cut-short, the man is split open from sternum to groin. The blow drives him down into the deck with such force that even the decking below splinters from the impact.

With lightning fast moves, the Surya-ka-Caravaah ducks twists, and dodges all of the attacks — well, almost. The archer in the crow's next manages to pin-point her shoulder. Having had far too many run-ins with poison at this point to risk it, she quickly tears out the bolt, gritting her teeth in pain against the wickedly barbed tips.

Edit: Added AoO using prior rolls per chat request from Jaosn.

Without wasting breath on complaining, she immediately whips out her bow and loses a pair of arrows at the archer in the crow's nest. Before he knows what hit him, his life if ended one arrow piercing his chest, the other protruding from the back of his skull, fletching buried in a ruined eye socket.

Still irritated by the barbed quarrel, 'Sarah' shakes her head at them as they try to reload and crows, "You'll shoot your eye out, kid!"

When Lureene hears the Infernal tongue flowing from the mouth of the brute, for a brief moment she feels as if she is back on her home plane being attended to by one of her Mother's many demonic servants. The way they spoke of her AND TO her was eerily uncanny.

As the combat starts to break out below her, she brings her mind back to the present. Hmmm, let's see just HOW effective he is in combat...

Pointing at the group of sailors below her G29-H30, she utters several words in the same language.

Infernal:
"It would be desired of me 'O worthy Lackey to discipline these foolish sailors who have displeased me."

Rolls:
CHA check 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 2 = 25 GH
