Tavar gasps once as Arishat urges him back from the grey road he was walking.

Distracted, the tiefling vents her outrage on another defenseless crossbow bolt. The skull titters and spins to look at her.

Before Barel goes, question? How is anyone in the Construct's aura if he is 30 ft up?

Barel lobs his hammer one more time at the skull.

Doh! Good point. You're not, of course. I know an aura is a cube, but even so ...

Rallying, the friends finally start to make an impact on the necromantic glitterball.

While Lynore slips into the shadows, Thom blasts it again with force, knocking the thing off balance long enough for Barel's hammer to hit it hard. Another gem tooth rattles.

Drain Soul recharge: 1d6=4. Oh, for goodness sake.

Snapping its teeth, the thing flies further away and launches another round of shadowy rays at the companions. Arishat gets her wish as a blast of power hits her.

Arishat's eyes flare as the construct attacks her, and a burst of flame and brimstone gives the skull something else to think about.

Infernal Wrath, free action, when an enemy within 10 damages Arishat that enemy takes 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 5) + 4 = 15 fire damage.


The skull screams as the sulphurous fumes hit it.

Cast mass cure light wounds, everyone regains HP as if they had spent a HS+4, Tavar regains HS+5.

Lynore shrouds her opponent with another shroud and concentrates all her will into a fearful attack and erases her image from the skull briefly.


The sneering face distorts as Lynore's attack hits it and another gem falls. As before, a tiny trapped figure breaks free and flees screaming. There is little left of the construct now, but it seems delusional enough not to care.

I did post a few hours ago, but see now that it got eaten.
Barel threw the hammer again and missed. Then twiddled his thumbs until its return to his hand.


Barel watches dolefully as his hammer flies gracefully through the air without hitting the skull.

Suddenly rejoicing, the thing flies closer and swamps Tavar with a binding of utter evil.

Drain Soul recharge: 1d6=6

Another weapon clatters to the floor, as Arishat drops her crossbow. She draws and throws and enchanted dagger, hoping that with this she can hit something. "Close enough for this, now."

Her aim is significantly better with the more familiar weapon, but to her intense irritation, Arishat's attack glances off the tiny bobbing form.

Even so, for all it's infurating smugness, there is now very little left of the construct.

Lanthair's attack also comes tantalisingly close to success as Lynore pops back into view, possibly ready to deal the last blow.

Lynore fashions a loop of shadowy force and lashes at the skull.


The skull's antics are stopped in mid-cackle by Lynore. Shadowy ropes pull the thing to the ground and shatter the construct forever. As broken gems and bone scatter haphazard over the floor, more glowing figures emerge from the jewelled teeth and flee joyfully.

Male Deva Cleric lvl 14

Swapped out Battle healer for Enhanced Defenses and took Battle Initution for level 14 feat. I got much better defenses now and a huge +9 boost to my Initative for a total of +16.


Female Tiefling Warlord/Infernal Strategist 18

Arishat is upgraded. Improved Defences as her new feat, and Spear Expertise replacing Weapon Expertise (Polearm).

She busies herself picking up fragments of gems. "Told you I'd make you into earrings."


Leveled up to 14...finally, he he.

"Yeah, Arishat, you would look good with all those earrings on." Thom grins at her, "Next thing you know, I am gonna start seeing you wearing a dress, he he."

I assume we are taking an extended rest here? Or are we pressing on? If so, then Thom will take 10 on Arcana to reactivate the teleportation circle, total 32.


I'd recommend an extended rest, certainly. Presumably in Thom's snuggly shelter. Once you're all sorted, I'll start you up a new thread. This mis-spelling in this one has been lacerating my soul for months :D

If you want an idea of Arishat's physique as I imagine it, Aveline Vallen in Dragon Age II has the right sort of muscular appearance. Obviously needs a different head and a tail, though. And a bit more armour. And a spear. I wish I could find a suitable picture.

Barel is updated. Added Improved defenses as feat this level (didn't have other option previously) but did retrain sudden roots with Master@Arms (+2 Attack Bonuses and sheathe a weapon and draw a different weapon as a minor...pretty cool!)

I am trying to make this version of Barel accessible on Iplay4e and link in my character description now.

Updated. Improved Defenses was an easy feat to swap in, because I already had Great Fortitude. They don't stack, so swapping out one for the other is a no-brainer. Also took brutal flurry for a little more damage.

Lynore - go for it. If you haven't used anything from the paragon path then it doesn't sound like the right choice.

I have the best visual of you all. Thom, vanity incarnate, Lanthair tough like old shoe leather and just about coming up to Arishat's Amazonian knees. Barel tugging his beard while Lynore lurks gracefully and Tavar stands proud, sure in the knowledge that his cat tabi will always keep him upright. I will hunt for pictures.

Thom constructs his comforting shack while re-enacting a childhood moment with Arishat and the companions retire for some well earned rest. The tiefling's ears glint with her new found jewellery.

yes, Barel tugs his beard, shares his cask of ale around, and settles down for a good nights rest, at least as good as he ever gets...in a Evil lair...and memories of a mocking skull...and more to come.


Just need Lynore to sort out her new self and we'll move on.
