So wednesday,awesome I can't wait

Ulfen, Irrisen, with a splash of Varki on his Ulfen Father's Side.

The Exchange

Zac is a white human, or at least as white as the average Native American, even though America doesn't exist in D&D, he does have angel blood which traces back to his grandmother.
He is not a faith, nor does he have a deity.

I think the GM wanted to know the Golarion Ethnicity. So I think you would like the Arcadians.

The Exchange

Yep, I'll take that. and put it next to my race.

Sorry if that sounded rude... Honestly I just found out about them today and I have been reading on Golarion for a year now...

Zac Freelan wrote:
Just to be clear, reading up on factions, do we have to be the cheliax?

not at all.

Now that I think about it I believe The savage Tide has probably been the precursor of Pathfinder society.
The factions provides you with benefits and may have secret agendas during the campaign. If you seek to please one of the factions and gain affiliation points you will get informed about their goals.
Those goals are never detrimental to the main campaign, and I don't think are ever putting the party one against the other (I have to give it a look to be sure)
You can be all associate with the same affiliation, but in truth, different characters have probably different affiliations that better suits their need and their ability to gain affiliation points.

Ok... I tought to do this somewhere during the campaign, but I'm going to do it here so you can tailor your character around an affiliation if you so choose instead of just going to the one that is better suited to your already made character.
I don't want to disclose the whole system though. So instead of telling you what affiliation do, what they require and break down all the affiliation points I'm giving you instead a vague list of do and don'ts

Church of the whirling fury:

They are an Azata worshipping cult that opposes demons, as such they are not extremely fond of evil or lawful characters. They have a slight bias towards favoring female members. They value martial prowess and they seek to destroy demonic influence wherever they find it. They worship Gwynharwyf, an Azata Empyreal lord, and while sharing the same faith is not mandatory it's a plus. Affiliation with them may provide you with special training and even an exalted guardian.

Dawn Council:

They are the nobles of Sasserine. As such nobility (by marriage with a noble of sasserine) Wealth and owning lands in Sasserine region are great assets to impress this affiliation. They value diplomatic talent High Charisma, academy graduation and of course, every effort to save Sasserine from certain doom. They are the lawmakers of Sasserine, so they don't welcome easily people that have been found guilty of crimes and Chaotic alignments in general. Also they don't trust the Chelish Brotherhood reasons, so you may have troubles if you are discovered being affiliated with both.
Being affiliated with them gives you greater authority over Sasserine and might grant you a noble villa with a plantation that provides you with a constant influx of income.

Chelish brotherhood:

They are Chelish supremacists, so being a pureblood Chelaxian is definitelt recommended (it's possible to be a member of this affiliation as another race, is just harder) They value discretion, the infiltration of other affiliations and the assassination of their enemies. They also favor every agent that manages to expand their web of safe houses or recover artifacts of the once great Cheliax empire.
They can offer to trusted high ranked members the service of lesser agent loyal to the death, but they frown upon those who get their agents killed needlessly. They don't look favourably to chaotic or good agents

The Seekers:

They like knowledgable people, expeially if they have a knack for dead languages. And they do like donations to their cause in form of useful magic items. They frequently hold debated inside their lodge and swaying the lodge on your favor during such debates is a common way to gain prestige. They value those that can keep the seekers secrets and they enjoy exploration, so they resent people who happen to wreck ships except as an extreme form of self defense.
They offer access to their extensive library and even the service of their apprentices to high ranking members.

Witchwardens:

They value magic ability, especially if people have a natural "Knack for magic". It's virtually impossible to be accepted as a witchwarden without being able to cast arcane magic. They value magical discovery and donations in form of magic items. They are very welcoming of Dawn Council members, but every other affiliation is usually considered a waste of talent.
They offer spellcasting services at a sensible discount to members, also they offer disconted materials used to create magic items powered by arcane magic. Trusted enough members may be able to borrow magic items from the tower.

Zelkarune Horns:

They are known to show respect for the descendants of arena Champions. They value fighting prowess, especially when demonstrated in the arena.
They are always in demand for live exotic and dangerous creatures to feature in their arena battles, but they also enjoy when their members gift them with a trophy of a mighty beast that can bring them glory.
As a member of Zelkarune horns you have access to their discounted prices on mundane equipment, or even magical if your standing is high enough. You may even become a Zelkarune's horns featured gladiator and obtain a salary as long as you are featured in at least one fight per month. The most valued gladiators are sometimes entrusted with powerful beasts, trained to follow simple direct commands.

Also a note about Arcadians.
It is true... Arcadians are described as the american indians in pathfinder, and of course they do exist but they will be located further north.
When in the campaign you will face Arcadians, they will be Aztecs.
Indians are available and a viable choice for a player, but if you want to be Arcadian as the Arcadians you are going to face you have to think about the Aztecs, with Ziggurats, human sacrifice and pretty powerful necromancy.

Bedu, once he gets a few adventures under his belt would probably go Witchwarden although the Seekers sound okay.

I am flexible and depending on party makeup I'd look at how Bedu evolves in Sasserine to make his final affiliation/s.

Morthar would probably go for the Dawn Council and the Witchwardens as factions to ally with... The Chelish brotherhood is something that Morthar doesn't like as while he may be LE Morthar isn't a racial supremacist... Morthar recognizes that if he, a lowly slave to start off with could gain the power of Hell then anyone else probably could to no matter their race...

Plus Morthar wants to rule the City, he doesn't want to answer to Cheliax who he suspects the Chelish Brotherhood answers to...

Looks like witchwardens are the closest to this particular character.

edit: Arcadians are like aztecs or native americans.....would that mean that Juju oracles are a possibility?

Witchwardens are the most fitting for my character as well. Though I don't even think I need to change my concept for them...

The Exchange

good, switched his faction back to what he was. Sczarni

Erick was born in Cudgel sector, so he'd be whatever race the nobles tend to be in the city.

As for factions, he's not affiliated with any at the start, but would likely be Seeker and/or Dawn Council eventually (depending on how much the 'sins of the father visited on the son' ethic is envoked, or if he manages to clear his family name).

The Exchange

Does it say what the most common ethnicities of humans are?

No, because it wasn't written with Golarion in mind, so the AP doesn't list them. So it's kind of up to the GM.

The Exchange

I never really got into subraces, so I'm not sure what would be a good one for Zac. Grew up in the noble section, and has traces of angel blood dated back to his grandmother.

Warmage type, well actually sorcerer, but giving him some feats to get the warmage feel.

Shadow Lodge

It's not written in the guide but the main Ethnicity in Sasserine is Chelaxian. most nobles of Sasserine are also Chelaxian or at least part Chelaxian but is more like a consequence of being descendants of the original Chelaxians settlers rather than a conscious choice.

(also, if you ever find mentioned the Suel Ethnicity in the guide, replace it with Chelaxian)

Then Erick would be 'Chelaxian' in the sense of his forebears were, but if I read it right, it almost looks as if they would have been an offshoot, without the demon worshipping in the city, so more like the old style Chelaxians from empire days.

The Exchange

Well, Zac isn't a direct descandant, so he may or may not be chelaxian, his parents weren't born there, they settled there before he was born, I went with Tian-Min, since it has Ameiko's picture, and she is a well respected person, so I'd figure I'd go with that.

Also, you are only using 6 factions, instead of the entire pathfinder faction list?

These 6 Factions are local factions. Not the international Pathfinder Society Factions.

Shadow Lodge

Since I see it's quite requested. I will officially break down the human ethnicities in Sasserine.

Humans 77% (22% Chelaxians, 14% Varisians, 13% Ulfen, 12% Garundi, 7% Tien, 4% Taldan, 3% Mwangi, 3% Arcadian, 1% Keleshite, 1% Gillmen, 1% Others)

The pathfinder Society has yet to reach Sasserine so there is no presence of it in the city (or it's factions)
The Chelish Brotherhood and Chelish Embassy present in Sasserine is tied to Cheliax, the nation, not the pathfinder society faction (although in the end they all work for similar purposes)

Anything concerning Morthar that I have forgotten?

The Exchange

Given he knows Arcana I set him to Witchwardens faction.

This is Merck's character, a monk focused on support. Crunch is mostly done, working on the backstory.

this is drakestendor's gnome cleric/fighter alias. Sir Bahb would love to be in the running for this adventure

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Oktar the gladiator will be a natural fit for Zelkarune's Horns. I'm curious if you have any feedback about the character, particularly whether the backstory is reasonable for how he became a gladiatorial in the arenas - happy to adjust the background so it makes more sense. Also, is it problematic that Oktar is a hobgoblin? Of course the intent in playing Oktar is that his race and big mouth would cause some problems, but I don't want to be a bad fit for the campaign.

Also, made a minor crunch tweak to give him Weapon Focus - Heavy Flail instead of Greatsword.

Shadow Lodge

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Starfinder Superscriber

The factions that seem plausible for Kutsya are the Witchwardens and the Seekers. As the worshipper of a different Empyreal Lord she would also likely have some respect for and interest in the Church of the Whirling Fury, but given that she is LN, it would probably be a bad fit.

She wouldn't turn down an affiliation with the Dawn Council, but I don't think she would seek them out.

Bedu is pretty much done and ready for inspection. Let me know scarletrose if you have any questions.

One for you is whether there will be much nautical adventures. I could adapt him to be more general by removing the archetype if the flavour and benefits are largely unnecessary?

Cheers

I wouldn't call them unnecessary.

But it has to be said that the campaign is not entirely nautical and that there are times when the ships travels at the speed of plot

All in all I say that sea singer and vanilla bard are equally useful.
As a sea singer I can see you having a clear advantage during navigation, but you might miss on bardic knowledge bonus for the other types of knowledge (mainly planes and Geography will be missed.
also you will suffer a little bit when it comes to being a skill monkey loosing versatile performance and inspire competence.

All in all I think is a pretty even trade.
I will start to review your entries to see if you miss something.
Don't you worry, nobody is going to be excluded because you forgot something or something was out of place. More than anything I'm interested in how much I feel your character will be nice to have in the party and how well you will be able to roleplay.
If you missed some technicalities we can fix them even long after we started playing, they do not influence in any way the chances to make it through the cut.

Baaran will fit best within the Seekers, I think. The faction can be a good source of income for sunken treasure he finds while searching shipwrecks and the library can prove useful in identifying what he has found.

I'm all done with the character and ready for final inspection. I apologize for positing it a bit early.

I'm very excited for this game and hope I get in. I'm planning on taking two levels of Buckler Duelist fighter to shore up the typical Aegis feats. Is there anything else you need me to do, Scarletrose?

Shadow Lodge

@Oktar the Savage:
There are just a couple of minor things to point out.
1) slavery is illegal in Sasserine (even though is not unheard of. and the fact that you are an hobgoblin may have indeed gained you more of a beast status rather than a person.)
I don't think you really have anything to change on your BG. Maybe the Zelkarune's horns just "forgot to tell you that you are free" to feature you in the arena a couple of times.
Maybe the one who initially took you in played dirty, but you had to be set free.
Also.. Sasserine's arena never features death matches between humanoids.
Of course, sometimes people dies, but that's an accident. not the rule.

For a pretty similar reason... not everyone can simply grab a weapon and enter the arena. the zelkarune's horns do not allow in the arena people who are too green and that have yet to prove themselves.
So once in game, you will not have access to the arena, access to the arena fights comes if you reach the first step in the Zelkarune's horns affiliation, likely when you will be level 2 and sent a few prized trophies to them to prove your worth.
For story reasons we will assume you already fought in the arena, but you will have no actual access until you reach that step in the affiliation.

@Rin Okamura
I can't see your traits.
Remember 1 from the district you settle in and one of your choice. (and another one if you choose a drawback)

@fighting Chicken
I believe I still have to see anything

@Deliverance
Same here

@Octavius Fremont
We more or less discussed the story. Can you put it into a few lines of text in the profile?

@'Nine-toes' Sherrick
I need the recent event that made you notorious for fighting skills, diplomacy or infiltration.

@Romund
I may be wrong but I believe Honored Fist of the Society is a feat for pathfinder society. As such it would be a sort of campaign trait for pathfinder society. Savage tides already provides you with its own campaign traits.

@Orsal Hort
I can't find any reference to the village of Hort (you can make up small settlements, but you should at least put them in context and tell me where they are supposed to be)
Ptolus is definitely not in Golarion.
This is a character you created for another campaign so probably you didn't worked on converting the background yet, let me know if you need help with that.Also if you need information on Golarion pathfinderwiki.com is your friend :)

@Tessa Steele
Waiting for background and campaign trait.

@Bedu the Barber
I find your notoriety part on the background a little weak. Is not like you need to do something great, but has to be something that could make you a fine candidate for a job (at least apparently)
Right now you look like more trouble than anything.
(managing to avoid confrontation with the target of the tale due to diplomatic or sneaky talents, or being able to confront him physically would suffice, as long as the story came public)

@Sydney Bristove
You need to put one of the campaign trait and to define an event that made your notoriety rise in sasserine.

If you are not in the list it just means I can't find anything missing

Hey Scarletrose, anything else you would like to see about Sir Bahb?

your entry seems fine... but is the latest I saw... let me take a loser look but I can't find anything missing.

feel free to add whatever you would like to add.

Okay apparently I am an idiot... A 1st Level Scroll is 25 GP right with Potions being 50GP? Or do I have them backwards?

Azaelas Fayth wrote:

yes.

And they are 12.5 and 25 if you can create them yourself.

Okay. Now to figure out why I have more GP left over than I should. Also to make math easier I am figuring them as if I bought them then for the ones I am crafting doubling their number. Just helps me streamline the Maths a bit.

Ugh, this is like Vestiges of Doom all over again...

Gotcha scarletrose. Bedu was a vanilla bard in his first incarnation. Your comments about that or the sea singer were exactly what concerned me. Its good that we can adapt the PCs once they are selected so for now I'll leave it as is.

As for the weakness of the BG notoriety and general comments I'll get on it now that the kids have gone to bed. Points taken and let's see what can be done.

Cheers

Didn't see any comments for Erick, I assume he's good as he is then?

Dimitrious good to go then?

I've redrafted Bedu and I hope he hits the spot.

Cheers

Hi Scarletrose, just checking in to say that I'm still working on the character. Cleric just wasn't working for me mechanically, so I switched to Oracle, and then got pretty carried away with the backstory, which kind of took off from what you wrote about the Caelianites in the Noble District. I'm finishing it up now and hope to have it up tonight, tomorrow at the latest.

Thanks for the detailed response. I made some changes so the background lines up better - fight was not to the death, and Oktar is set free at the end. Broad strokes are still the same, though. I think the character's final unless you have any additional comments.

Best of luck to all!

Gavin d'Bourgemont is looking for a little adventure, if it is Cayden Cailean's desire.

This is Fighting Chicken's character. I've still got a couple of pieces of crunch to figure out, might switch out a feat for a different one, and will give the backstory one more pass-through tomorrow, but Gavin's 95% done.

Can i have crafted my own weapons if I can make them taking 10?

The PFS do not have campaign traits, only adventure paths do. Honored Fist of the Society is listed as a combat trait. But if you prefer I can changed it.

Sorry for the delay, I was away from my computer for most of the weekend, but I'll get to adding a description of his history added to the profile.

Sorry, I added a bit about an ivory theft that turned up the heat on him a bit, but I can flesh that out some more, for sure.

@Scarletrose

Orsal's background and equipment are ready for review.

cheers

@Scarletrose - Checking in before the final cut. Is there anything I should change or elaborate on with my inquisitor?
