Januarius ibn Fahlad is the son of a Katapeshi immigrant to Alkenstar and an Alkenstar native opera singer.
The immigrant is Fahlad so he's "the son of Fahlad" and the opera singer wanted her son to be a singer as well - instead he became a shield marshal.
Really it's just a character hook to have a simple cop have an over-the-top name.

CUDouglas,
Do you mean If I go Druid?
We have to have a Druid or Ranger to make this work. Books one and two are all wandering in the woods!
I am doing a Ranger in the live game we are doing, so I would be happy to do a Druid.
I do not think a party of 4 can support a Bard anyway. A Bard is like for 5+ parties, if you ask me.
I'll go ahead and do the Druid if that is the consensus. I can be flexible.
However, I'd stick with a Wizard.
| Dom Riverby |
I may need to look over my skill choices again, as I assume a Druid (or a Bard ?) would both have better numbers on the Knowledge skills I thought I'd need to take (nature, history, etc.). I'd probably still keep the Knowledge(religion) one, but would welcome advice on better choices. I may even switch my trait back to Rostlander so I don't have to mess with the horse. (A noob can only handle so much.)
As for your wife playing, Bryan, I say the more the merrier, but I'm not the GM. :)

There's aircraft in Pathfinder??
(I'll try to locate my physical sheet tonight and update my selections)
Other Planes of Existence, like Plane of Fire, Plane of Water, Nirvana, Astral Plane, etc. The gods live on the outer planes, so a cleric knowing about them makes sense.
Man, you are new to D&D. That is soooo cool!

Alright. I'm going wizzrd. Are APG things in play, like alternate Racial traits and the like?
I get veto power because some things are just stupid overpowered but all Paizo books are, nominally, available for play within the original guidelines set out.
CUDouglas wrote:Alright. I'm going wizzrd. Are APG things in play, like alternate Racial traits and the like?
I hope so, because my wife is looking at a Horselord Ranger (provided she can play)
Though with Summoners excluded from the classes, that sure sounds like a opening for the APG.
I don't have a problem as long as the rest of the group doesn't.

"TAXATION IS THEFT!"
Um, so we are not going to have a King in this game, but we an autonomous collective?
One of the reasons Kingmaker works for a Ricochet game is that you're making your own kingdom - really a small nation.
So if you want to create a democratic republic and canvas for votes in between dungeon crawling you can.
Also, I need to create a new monster: the Tax Golem. Made of piles of tax forms animated by dark magic and despair, these golems do Wisdom damage per hit, eventually causing you to go crazy and/or comatose.

Yeah, in the table top Kingmaker I am in, I am the King. In fact, I just ordered someone sent off to the mines for speaking out against the leadership.
Democrat I am not!
To be fair, he was paid to disrupt the Kingdom. As to how my Spymaster got that information out of him, I am sure it was all above board. I was at the Tavern at the time, whooping it it with the people!

As long as there's a new spell to bring them back from the grave: "Raise Taxes".
('Course, that would imply they could be beaten in the first place.)

Since I'm a noob, and since an oracle decreed in this thread that we'd be in the wilderness for a while, I'll work it into my background, meaning I'm a city boy who hasn't been out of Restov his whole life. My father was a fence for magic items, but I always wanted to get into one of the dueling academies. My two part plan for this is 1) figure out how to cozy up to some important nobles and 2) seek out an adventuring party to sharpen my skills. So I got myself a horse to carry my adventuring gear, and a Heritage Book to study up on the important families.
Oh, and if you can figure out a way to get "YOU MAY TAKE OUR LIVES, BUT YOU'LL NEVER TAKE OUR CAPITAL GAINS!" into a character-appropriate moment I'll give you bonus XP.
Challenge accepted.
By the Grim White Stag, I'll make it work.

FYI to our illustrious and studious GM: you may want to hold off on running my character's numbers. If I won't be called upon to regale the Brevic countryside with my natural and historical knowledge, I'll drop my INT score a little bit to balance out my stats for combat.
Let it not be said that Dom Riverby is a squish!

Well, there go my dreams of being a high-flying half-ling. Still, glad to be along for the ride, and hope I don't slow everyone down.

Here is the link to Berrik with equipment and a Feat Tweak (Extra Performance is for level 3 I think. Right now I want to sleep in my light armor).
Below is my introduction:
Hello! I am so pleased to meet you! Berrik Belmorn at your service! This is an exciting adventure we have signed up for, eh? Venturing into the Narlmarshes, rooting out bandits, scouting the land? I think it is going to make a fantastic story. This looks like a great group, and I know we are going to get along. I want to know all about you, but, since I know people can like to play their cards close to their vest, let me start about me.
As you might have guessed already, my calling is that of a Bard. It came naturally to me as I grew up in a tavern. My mother, rest her soul, was a fetching bar maid, (though the “maid” part was up for negotiation, if you catch my drift). I have and older brother and sister who mostly raised me. They worked in the tavern, while I listened to the stories of traveling minstrels. Like my siblings, I have little idea of who my father was, except for this ring he gave her their last night together. It is not much, but I treasure it anyway.
When I was 13, I went away with one of the bards who had taken a shine to me over the years. She taught me her craft, taught me about the world, and made sure I had a full instruction in life. Alas, she has gone one to bigger and better things in the courts of the Swordlords, but, she made sure I had an invitation to this little party.
I tend not to sing or play music, but concentrate on poetry and stories. I like a little drumming as well. I feel it speaks to the spirit in a way melodies cannot. But, I don’t’ want to bore you with my thoughts on musical theory. That is enough about me. Tell me about yourself!

Numbers have been run!
Dom: If you keep Int where it is you need an additional bonus language; you need to pick your spells; and you need to choose between caretaker and scholar of the great beyond: you can only have one faith trait.
Rory: I show you have one spell in your spell book over the 7+1 spell limit; is your opposition school air or wood? You also need to buy gear (although I think you know that!)
Big Head: Everything checks out on my end.
Berrik: Historian isn't a Kingmaker trait and it's racial so it conflicts with Bastard - you can only have one trait per category. Also, it's up to you but I'd consider going with regular leather armor instead of studded leather to avoid the armor check penalty. Once you have enough gold you can exchange it for a mithral shirt (likewise no armor penalty). And are you going to buy instruments?
Everyone who can check out Big Head who's thoughtfully bought things like soap and a horse. Those will help immensely.

Bastard was my Kingmaker Trait, and Historian a racial one. Our group allows a Campaign trait to be its own catagory. I am fine to make the tweak though, and do something else besides Historian. Since Bastard is also a racial trait, I take it you do not want me to do any other racial traits. Can do.
Also, if you look on page two of my PDF you will see where, like Big Head, I purchased not only a war horse, but also a drum, and soap, and rope, and paper and ink etc. It is least I can do since you were most generous to give us full gold!
I plan to do an oratory based bard, with some drumming, so as such, I don't need a lute or such per say.
Thanks for suggestion on the armor. To be honest, I think it was a drop down box error!
I will update and re-post.
Linda is working on her Ranger today. She is doing the Two-Handed Weapon Specialization. I will make sure she buys a horse.

Now - I'll choose spells, but Clerics can change which ones they have for a given day, right, as long as you draw from the appropriate level and list?
Yes, so each day you will pick what you can cast the next day. Don't bother to pick "Cure" spells though, has you can always burn a memorized spell for one of those on the fly. Unlike a Wizard, you just get the spell lists. It is up to the GM how broad that will be. We do not usually let a Cleric in our games get every spell in every book he can find for free. The GM usually sets some limits. But that is in our game group. We feel sorry for the poor Wizards.

I believe I've addressed these concerns, and made some requisite updates to my skill numbers based on the new traits. Sorry for not chiming in with a proper introduction yet - it's been a busy weekend

No need to worry here. I will be sporting a union-required wizard's beard.

| Laurel Bracey |
Hello,
I am the tag along here. I came with Bryan/Seenar/Berrik. Rintell is my account avatar and Laurel Bracey is the character I would like to play.
Ranger from the edges of the Stolen Lands, she uses a 2-handed Greatsword. One note on her traits and purchases, I choose Pioneer and that trait states you start with a horse, I paid the difference to change it to a light combat trained horse (so I paid 35gp instead of 110gp).
