Upon arriving in Nagura, Charlotte realizes, that she is in a land of a language that she doesn't speak. So as the party arrives, she decides that she is going to look for a place where she can hire an interpreter.
I'm going to look for an interpreter, as well as an apothecary. Anyone interested in coming along? She tucks in her holy symbol out of respect for the country's religions, in the hope that she will also learn more about the Tian faiths and belief systems. They are after all, very similar to our own. She looks around, and everyone has already gone their own seperate paths. She sighs knowing that this will not be a good idea. Oh well, guess I better just look around and hope I find someone

YanduSummoner stays close to Tanrov - looking out for gnomes and fey - or other non humans.
"Yes - Hinojai."
And he points up with his hand into the air - indicating it has to be somewhere up higher as they are right now.

"This should be good." Ashur watches while Tanrov and Yandu attempt to get directions. "Nah, I'll stay here. I'd just hurt your chances." Is his answer to Charlotte.

GM Brute Squad |

The random woman Tanrov grabs is a little startled at the large barbarian’s appearance, and does not seem to understand what he is saying. Until he mentions Hinojai, at which point she becomes visible upset babbles something in Tian, wrenches herself away from Tanrov and scurries off into the town. The rest of the nearby townsfolk begin to give the barbarian a wider berth as they walk past.

Ashur does little to contain his laughter at the situation. "Nope. Not at all." He says with much sarcasm while his laughing subsides.

Charlotte finds a translator eventually, by the name of Gansukh, a simple and quiet man of Nagura. She asks him about what his knowledge is about Hinojai and the history of the house. Afterwards, she asks him where she can find a person who can do some scroll work. After reciving her scrolls, she finds Tamov, Ashur, and Yandu, trying desperately to speak with a poor Tian person who looks terrified, after the person runs away, she waves at them and calls out to them.
Friends! Friends! Hold on a minute! I have found this nice gentleman to help us. His name is Gansukh. Gansukh, this is Tamov, Ashur and Yandu. Yes, they do look odd, but they mean no harm to you or anyone here.
In case that you need it:

GM Brute Squad |

Gansukh tells you where Hinojai can be found. Hinojai owned by good noblewoman named Minasako Himiju, but she vanish when my grandfather was a baby. Soon after there be many people missing. Sometimes a terrible fog surround the house. No one who enter the fog come out again! Do not go der! Much bad juju! Foolish men go der and never return. Bring bad luck down on us if strangers angry the spirits!

Gansukh tells the group of what he knows about Hinojai and where to find the location. As she looks around, she can't find Erin or Arkwright she asks Gansukh, if there is a local inn or tavern that we can stay at in just in case for the night.

Personal note, the dice text isn't working for me. Any help would be nice.

After a bit of cursing, she is able to cast the spell.
Erin then speaks in Tian.
"Apologies for the awkward meeting, I am unfamiliar with the language and needed magic assistance to speak with you. If I may ask you a couple of questions about your tattoos and the surrounding area I can double what I have already given you."

Arkwright finally re-appears and walks over to the group, waving a quick greeting.
"Sorry I disappeared friends, but I had to find a source. I've discovered that Hinojai was owned by good noblewoman named Minasako Himiju, but she vanished years and years ago. Soon after many people went missing. Sometimes a terrible fog surrounds the house. No one who enters the fog come out again, apparently. Oh and apparently angering the spirits will bring bad luck to the town."
Sensing a less-than-enthusiastic reception, Arkwright looks nonplussed.
"...what?"

Yandu approaches the translator
"This indeed does sound bad. Is there a temple where I can get holy water?
Are people here happy and business good or are taxes eating up everything as where I come from.
This went quick at the start - will purchase 5 flask of holy water if possible.

Charlotte looks at her comrade that just magically appeared out of nowhere.
Well nice to see you show up and you look alright. She says. Anyway, we should be heading to an inn or tavern. Erin most definately will eventually end up there. Gansukh, lead us if you could please to the nearest inn/tavern. Besides, I've always wanted to try Tian food.

Arkwright shrugs. "What can I say? It takes time to find a brothel big enough to offer prostitutes exotic enough to speak our tongue. Sorry if I caused any concern."
He nods at the cleric. "As you say, friend; it will be good to rest for the night after this long day. Oh, and-" he produces a small wooden stick "- would you mind holding onto this little trifle for me? 'Tis a small thing I have found that bestows a most wonderful feeling of health, but only when used by one of your ilk. Thank you kindly."

![]() |

Charlotte looks at Arkwright, and takes the stick. Knowing quite well what this little stick is, and offended by his small-mindedness, she ties a purple ribbon on it to signify that it is not one of her's. She then puts it on her back. You best hope I'm around when you need it. Since you have a bad habit of dissapearing. At least I have a good reason to be lost. Prostitutes is not a good one.
Shall we go?

![]() |

Yandu turns to Charlotte:
"Just to ensure you are aware - I'm having one of these sticks as well. It's the light wooden one. I tend to be able using it myself - but just in case I'm down.
I also heard mumblings that the tax collector here is a very mean man and doesn't deserve his job. I don't know if this truly is he case - but should you stumble upon information in this regard - please let me know.
I don't want to cause issues in this foreign land. We also need to first find out what is happening at the manor - but you have to uphold the flag of freedom wherever you go and anyone thinking the same way and helping me is welcome."

You find rooms at the Kami’s Whisper Inn for the night and are served by a nice lady named Ateji. Gansukh translates: She says that we don’t serve many people from the west here and that she trusts everything is to your liking.
You’re fairly sure she knows what you are talking about, but she won’t admit it, and is getting increasingly nervous at the openness with which you are communicating. Sorry stranger, I need to get back to work.
Yandu, yes you can pick up your holy waters.

Erin sighs and looks around at the empty alley.
"Look, just make sure Pops gets this grocery sale list. If he misses out on any of these deals he's likely going to be upset...
She then winks at the woman.
"...and it won't be with me."
Sense Motive1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 To see if the message sinks in.
Erin then clasps the woman's hand, leaving the "grocery list" and heads out to join her allies, hoping she found the right person.

Erin approaches the group at the inn and pulls up a chair.
"So, hows goes our research on the haunted manor?"
She asks.
She then produces a small pair of vials. They both look nearly identical, with cold iron casing, and many eldritch symbols. She then proceeds to affix these to easy-to-reach places on her belt.

Having properly attended to the request of Yandu and Arkwright, Charlotte quietly walks with the remainder of the party to Kami's Whisper Inn and is met by a Tian woman by the name of Ateji. She takes a good look at her and her stature, as Erin comes into Inn. She nods to Erin acknowledging her fellow adventurer.

"Fried Blindheim is delicious. Especially in that dark sweet sauce." His thoughts of food are interrupted by Erin's arrival. "What are those?" He asks pointing to the vials. "The others can tell you about the research. I'm way too hungry. Two orders of fried Blindheim please."

![]() |

Erin glances at Ashur.
"Another form of protection I suppose. They are called haunt siphons. I did a little research, spoke with a few friends, and they recommended these to deal with ghostly beings. Really expensive stuff though... Hopefully it is just a bunch of kids or miscreants.... "

![]() |

"Well hopefully they come in handy." Ashur says as Ateji brings over the food he ordered. "Here. Have some, Yand." He picks up a piece and hands it to the gnome.
