Male LG Aasimar Paladin 5 / Expert (Swindler) 1 | HP: 51/61 | AC: 23 (12 Tch, 22 Fl) | CMB: +9, CMD: 21 | F: +11, R: +8, W: +11 (& resistances) | Init: +1 | Perc: +7 (darkvision), SM: +4 | Speed 20ft | Smite Evil: 0/2, Lay on Hands: 3/6, Divine Bond: 0/1 | Action points: 12, Reroll: 1/1 | Active conditions: Smite evil, divine bond (keen).

Swift action, lay on hands. Arimar calls upon Sarenrae to sustain him that he may better stand up for his friends.

Lay on hands: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7

Massive (small) assumption: Kaddren casts fly on Arimar.

"Thanks for the lift," Arimar quips poorly as the flying energies fill him. He flies upwards a little, but mostly forwards (less than 45º) towards the orange harpy (charge action), gripping his falchion in two hands once more. He slices into her with all he has, attempting to thin their numbers and reduce the threat to his friends.

Action point: Increase power attack (double the bonus damage).

Arimar vs Orange Harpy, power attack, furious focus, smite evil, charge: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 2 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 11 - 2 + 2 + 4 + 2 = 36
Damage, power attack, action point bonus, smite evil: 2d4 + 7 + 6 + 6 + 5 ⇒ (3, 4) + 7 + 6 + 6 + 5 = 31

Crit confirm: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 2 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 11 - 2 + 2 + 4 + 2 = 33
Crit damage: 2d4 + 7 + 6 + 6 + 5 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 + 6 + 6 + 5 = 29

Post charge, Arimar's AC is temporarily 21, or 25 vs the orange and yellow harpies.

GM: Just a note that on your combat table, you hadn't included Arimar's previous lay on hands. He should have been -5 instead of -11 before, and then -17 after the attack. He's -10 now.

will fix that. Nice to see dice roller is back to normal.

Female NG Halfling Bard 5/ expert 1 | HP: 31/36 | AC: 20 (14 Tch, 17 Fl) | CMB: +2, CMD: 15 | F: +5, R: +10, W: +9; +5 vs. bardic performance, language-dependent, and sonic, +2 vs. fear | Init: +3 | Perc: +13, SM: 0 | Speed 20ft | bardic knowledge +2, lore master 1/day, versatile performance (oratory) | Spells: glitterdust (DC 17), heroism, silence (DC 17), charm person (DC 16), CLW, deja vu, save finale, (etc.) | Active conditions:

Still crouching next to the massive, towering form of Benaiah, the halfing does not even raise an eye to the disturbing harpie's calls, cries, and screeches that rain down from above. Scrunching her face up in confusion, she unwittingly reacts to a sound that in and of itself should not be confusing, but in the moment it seems odd that she should hear the sound of Arimar engaging in melee with the vile creatures. With feverish and focused intensity, Gwendolyn continues to launch her racing song skyward, pausing only long enough to reach out and bestow upon the heretic a spell of healing.

Free Action: Maintain countersong
Standard Action: cast cure light wounds on Benaiah

Cure Light Wounds:
CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Kadren unrolls his scroll of Fly and unleashes its magic upon Arimar with a burst of Draconic words

Draconic:
"Fly my pretties! Fly!"

After the casting is done, from behind Arimar, Kaddren's disembodied voice can be heard wondering aloud, "I'm going to guess the scriber of that scroll was a Witch. No matter. Do your thing."

He walks (back, again) up the ramp towards the ruins, keeping an eye on Arimar's ascent and stunning display of martial prowess and smugly noting that this wouldn't have been possible without him. He also makes a mental tally to ensure that his alignment stays in such a place to remain on Arimar's Good side.

Standard Action: Cast from scroll. Move 30'

Benaiah breaths a little easier as his wounds stitch up, knowing where the healing came from. I'll have to thank her later... he muses before cracking open one of his powder mixtures and pouring it into one of the arrow punctures in his chest.

Cure Light Extract: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

With Gwen's healing, this puts me back to 57/65

His wounds bleeding far less than before, he starts to creep forward, still trying to figure out just what he might be able to do against the harpies up in the air.

"Stay close..." he says to the diminutive musician, confident in his bulk to shield the halfling from stray arrows.

It really is quite amazing how terribly you roll as compared to how well I roll. Only in your games, buddy, only yours. So... did I kill it?

"I wonder if those other arrows... the ones that killed the harpies... came from Elyas or not," Arimar whispers back to his friends after striking the incredible blow, "I, for one, would dearly love his aid in this endeavor. Let's try not to embarrass ourselves." He turns and favors his comrades with a wink before turning to the green harpy with a you're next expression on his face.

Portraits | Tactical | Hollow Mountain

Finally meeting the harpies on their own footing, Arimar slices the harpy into a slowly falling mass of feathers, blood, and organs. The red rain falls in the midday sun, a slow mist of heat forming in the cool mountain air wafting from the dead corpse as it crashes to the ground.

The harpies scream in protest as one of their fellow warbirds dies in combat. The sound barely resonates through the waxy earplugs, and the steady rhythm of Gwen's music.

As the companions heal Benaiah, they spy more arrows emerge from the east and a dull grey shape in the distance. One, two, three, four, five, and finally a sixth arrow find the queen's bodyguards. Both harpies fall to the ground, punctured by numerous arrows each. All that can be heard is a long, dirgeful sound emanate from the invisible queen, the companions assume.

The sole warbird circles high and flies off to the west, disengaging from combat.

Let me know if you want to chase it, or what you want to do next.

Current Conditions: Arimar -11; Benaiah -8, Gwen -27 hp

"Find that queen!" Arimar hisses over their message spell, "At least she's crying out aloud so it shouldn't be too difficult." Famous last words...

From an action economy perspective... we should be trying to pinpoint the queen with a move action. Since you can, why not make 2 perception rolls with 2 move actions? It would be best if Arimar went last, as he's most likely to be able to act on information received. Kaddren should go second to last in case she's moved beyond 150ft range and he needs to adjust: Kaddren (I seem to recall) had a glitterdust handy, so when we locate her (within a 10ft radius), he should get that spell off as his standard action. Arimar can then charge her (or whatever is appropriate once she is discovered).

Note: Gwen should keep singing a countersong (after a short pause so we can listen for the queen), but we should pull our earplugs out to try to hear.

"Stupid wench queen..." Benaiah mutters to himself, bummed he can't fly and was generally useless except as a pincushion.

He pops the wax from his ears, straining to hear the blubbering of the queen, knowing full well how others have used mere sounds to pinpoint and attack him before. Sorry GM, couldn't resist reminding you of that... :)

Perception, no earplugs: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Perception, no earplugs: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

If He hears the queen:
"There! Above that rise, just to the left of that outcropping!" Benaiah shouts, trying to point his companions in the right general direction.

If he doesn't hear the queen:
Benaiah shakes his head no, trying not to make any other noises that might spoil his companions efforts to pinpoint the wailing harpy.

Gwendolyn stops her playing of the violin as the harpy begins to flee her companions. As the creature removes herself, and moves farther away from the halfling, Gwen lowers the bow and instrument with an exasperated sigh. The song would not serve to help her friends now, that the harpy was outside the range of the melody.

Through the earplugs the muffled shouts of her friends call after the queen, and Gwendolyn stands motionless, watching but feeling helpless to aid any further.

end countersong--

"How could this possibly go wrong?" Kaddren likewise takes out his earplugs, and readies a Glitterdust for when he has some indication of where the Queen is.

Useless? Not at all! Roll 2 perception checks to locate the queen! You've got the best bonus of all of us. ;-)

... and Benaiah, don't be afraid to add 1d6 to that 25 with an action point! The GM hasn't revealed the result of the roll yet.

My apologies everyone. Once the mystery archer (Guess Who?) started peppering the Queen's warbirds with arrows, she went invisible, ended her captivating song, and took off. It is obvious I did not make that clear so mea culpa. And with that, we will resume action in May. Catch you on the flip side

Have a good one! As a friendly request, can you send an email to the group when things start back up?

Actually, yeah, that'd be great. Thanks John. This is my only game left on Paizo.
