I have your first challenges ready. If you have any questions about this let me know. If you have an idea for a different format, I'm also open to suggestions.
On another note, I did't realize how difficult this would be. I don't know if I was just blocked or what, but I was definitely intimidated. I want to continue, but I think I may only be able to do 1 or 2 entries a week, although that may increase as we get into a "groove". That said, would you like to stick with one year per "turn" or would you like more time to pass?
Stay with me for the ride and I think we may create something quite cool.

That is an excellent question. Which do you (all) think would be more fun? I can arbitrate, or It could be more of a literary challenge...It could go either way.
Personally, and I know this will bog the game a bit more, I'd prefer you to arbitrate. However, I admit it does limit certain reactions. For instance, in my Spring, what if Cassarah did it herself? Then again... if she went and died, I'd have to figure out how my tribe went from there, which may create more conflict.

But yes, I lean toward arbitrate.
I like you arbitrating conflicts but us narrating nonessential bits. The creatures we fight would be arbitrated, the hoarder narrated by me for example.
Further, I am a bit concerned about the population growth mechanic. Early on it works ok, but as time passes remember, without magical assistance/predation/etc, populations of tribal people eventually hit a max capacity where they have to branch off or die off from food shortage, while agrarian people reproduce more rapidly and keep expanding until they meet resistance.
Humans and driders will likely breed faster than long lived elves, too, btw. Not sure of the others.
I agree that narrating nonessential bits is good, we'll just have to be in agreement as to what those are; I think it should be pretty obvious, but if it isn't, we can work it out.
This is true about population growth. I'm sure when we get to a certain number, It'll be obvious that either more territory is needed, or changes must be made. This early on though I think this method should suffice. We wont be using the same method throughout the game.
After reading through my tribe's troubles, I must admit I am greatly enjoying this game.
One question- how large are the bats? Capital-L Large? Medium? Small?
The bats are large by goblin eyes, but not immensely so, so lets say Small, just a touch bigger than a goblin.
Damn, the goblins just lost their airborne division.

I like how population growth is the same for everyone, yet the goblins still manage to get almoust double the growth of everyone elses average...seems fitting -.-

I am absolutely interested, but work & home life (and having a cell as my only internet) are making updating this sort of game much more difficult than a regular PbP.
I am sorry for not having better foresight. How about having a necromantic blunder, and my tribe is all turned into skeletons & corpses. The few stragglers fleeing north. Gives you an npc monster locale w a spooky abandoned settlement vibe, & me the ability to bow out gracefully.
Definitely interested, but I confess, somewhat stumped.
Partly because I'm unclear how much I am able to narrate of the success or failure of my solutions to the problems set before me. But mostly because life is kicking my ass.
While I cant speak for our DMs feelings on the matter, I personally get the sense that we are operating under an "Artistic License" setup, with freedom to write what we want, with DM then asking for a rewrite if anything ends up out of line.
Two things: One, I should be able to post as promised now.
Two, I'm just going to post responses as best I can and let the GM correct me on my style/decide what happens as we go. It was heavily implied, if not outright stated, that this game would be, in a sense, made as we go. What it could evolve into, who knows?
