The platemail is brand new, there is no smell attached to it yet. As for the spikes, they are still in bubble wrap considering Tal has net worn them yet.

Up to you. It's any skill upon creation.
But I am not creating it I am buying it so I thought it was your call... but Appraise it is then.
Hmmm I see an issue needing a gm call with Strangling Hair. there is a not-yet-resolved conflict between the duration of "concentration, up to 1 round/level" and the text "Once you choose a target, your hair continues to attack that target independently of your own actions."
I think the spell is meant to be the witches version of Spiritual Weapon which argues for a more fire and forget nature. At least this is what I hope. It would give Pollux some minor battlefield control enabling him to strangle one enemy while hexing another. I do not think this is out of line for a 3rd level spell. Thoughts?
Dibs on "Spikes in Bubble wrap" as a band name.

Last thing, The Spellbook. Selling value is 755gp per the CRB that turns into four first level two second and one third level scroll. +20gp extra but who is counting. Assuming everything is standard I suspect protection vs Law is either forbidden or sells for a premium in Cheliax.

Dont know how interested you are in it but Tal will purchase 2 scrolls for you Pollux to add to your familiar. That way they are available should we need them in the future. They are dispel magic and remove curse. 2x375=750I will deduct if you can pay for the scribing costs. Gives you some options and a fallback for us if we can make it through for you to rememorize spells. Granted Trevor can as well the next day but this allows both of you to try if we really need it.
Still ready to go.

That is quite nice of you Tal. I'm sure Castor now feels quite remorseful about those things you don't know about yet. Thank you, Hmmm not the same thing but would you find a couple of potions of Enlarge Person useful? Potioning Enlarge/Reduce person is very tasty as the spell goes from a full round to cast to a move action to drink.
Tal Bernard Mainz
Sure thing Pollux, thanks. Level 1 potions work great for those spells. Let me know how many to add to my sheet. I will deduct the gp for the scrolls now. Also with the cursed paper we have, it might not be a bad idea to have a remove curse memorized. A nat 20 on the check should do it I hope to free us from the curse.
And s far s Castor being remorseful, I think that is indigestion you are confusing with remorse. Of course we have to live long enough to figure out for sure which one it is.
The remove curse is also in case you curse me in my sleep. I will know you are capable of fixing it...
Tal Bernard Mainz
If that is the case then switch it to a scroll of heroism instead. That way I don't have to fix my wealth again and Pollux still gets a spell that could benefit any of us should he memorize it.
Tal Bernard Mainz
If only Tal had detect thoughts you would be in so much trouble right now.

Tin-Man et.al There is a scroll of Dispel Magic in the loot bin as well. Do you want to swap out the scroll you bought for that and pick different 3rd lvl rat food or are we keeping the loot scroll as general use? The DC would be 13+stat mod either way. Do we know if the scroll is arcane or divine?
Unless there are problems Pollux is watergating the Scrolls of Chill Touch, Ray of Exhaustion, Vampiric Touch and False Life as the monkey is the only person in the party who can use them w/o a UMD check.| Tal Bernard Mainz |
i assumed that you would consume the scroll in order to memorize it later possibly. That is why I suggested buying the heroism instead. I am good with whatever is decided though.

Monkey is confused... Did you buy 1 scroll or 2?
Tal Bernard Mainz
I bourght 2 scrolls total: remove curse and either dispel magic or heroism depending on what I happening with the scroll we found. I want to make sure we have an option to remove the curse that we received when picking up that note earlier.
Pollux
AHA! I see now. so there are 4 scrolls in play. 1 dispel and 1 remove curse from the manor and 1 remove curse and 1 dispel/heroism purchased by you. So if I take the manor scrolls then you can buy Heroism and say Rage or Remove Blindness/Deafness and I can feed the rat all 4. Alternately you can save the coin and let the rat eat the loot scrolls or buy spare copies
(go divine for party copies, Cal and Trevor can both use them)for the group.

You return to the hideout to much applause, tears, and hugs. Apparently one or two of the smaller members of the Children were hiding in the rafters of the theater witnessed the terror unfold. You are showered with praise, worry, and congratulations. No one bothers to question why it took you so long to get back into contact with them as it seems at least as far as they're concerned your well being was more important than any convoluted plan to rob a vault.
After about half an hour where you are coddled and cared for like newborn babes by the worried women of the league you are eventually led to the upstairs study where Arael, Janiven and the pathfinder Ailyn Ghontasavos await you.
Once things have calmed down a bit Ailyn simply gets straight to the point. "Were you able to retrieve the Crux?"
Tal Bernard Mainz
Indeed, Trevor is neglecting most of the details of what we went through so hopefully you have some answers for us as I have no idea what it is or how to use it. So, Ailyn, tell us what it does and why we had to go through the horrors we did to obtain it.
Looking to see what kind of reaction he gets from the three of them, he adds, Oh and one of us is cursed from a piece of paper and I also think this glaive doesn't like me most of the time.
Tal Bernard Mainz
Tal shakes his head, Of course now I get the sense that the glaive agrees with me. Anyone want to try and tell me what is going on and why I am getting these feelings from it. I would really like to know before I get the urge from it to go on a murderous rampage and cant control myself. Not that we haven't just done that already but knowing why I am getting these thoughts would be nice.
TarkXT
Arael wards off the shots fired towards the pathfinder. "I'm sure whatever pain is inflicted on you, me, or any of us we can agree that it's a worthy price to pay to see the shadowbeasts ended corr...wait, runecurse??"
Ailyn for her part simply ignores Tal's remark and puts her face level to the artifact on the table scrutinizing it closely but not yet touching it. "Don't worry about him. If I told half the stories of the things Pathfinder's put up with on a daily basis he'd give up his armor and live as a hermit for the rest of his days." After several agonizing minutes where Ailyn simply focuses on the object muttering to herself and circling the table a few times to get a different view of it she sighs and slumps back in her seat. "It's definitely what we're looking for and every bit as damnably complicated and dangerous to open as I feared. If we attempt to solve the puzzlebox and we do it wrong it incinerates the person doing it and whoever happens to be in the room as well. I can get it open, but it will take time. And wine. Yes lots of wine."
Looking up at Tal she remarks. "Picked up a runecurse have you? I can try to remove it in the morning if you can resist it long enough. Don't pass it on. A noble in this town has more than enough money to pay an iron mask to cure what ails him and track the fool who tried to kill him with it."
Arael sighs and agrees. "As much as I'd rather be the one to do it I'm afraid such a spell is outside of my abilities. Afraid playing the organizer has left me unable to further my priestly powers."

"...incinerates....This will be fun! Right Castor?"
Pollux leans over the table and chuckling lightly, caresses the sides of the crux.
{Trying to open it. Assume Fortune Hex, Guidance, Resistance, as needed. Aid other (w/guidance) from Castor as well if it matters.}
TarkXT
"That's sweet of you" says Ailyn. "But unless you plan on staring at me for the next two weeks there's no need. I'm afraid to touch it let alone leave with it. So I'll be taking my time opening it." With that she gets up from the table and rummages in another part of the library in her things and pulls out a 3/4 full botle of wine.
will post more when get home.
Trevor Culexis
Trevor will spend some of the time making new purchases and getting his armor and weapon enchanted as well as addressing the others.
So we need this curse dispelled. Since it is rather powerful perhaps we can find a wizard or Iron mask who is willing to use the various scrolls we found to get rid of it, anyone have suggestions?
Tal Bernard Mainz
Purchases already made so Tal is good to go whenever.
Very well if that is how long it will take you then I will take my leave. You know how to find me and where. I shall expect your message indicating to meet here again in about 2 weeks. Until that time, don't blow yourself up. I would hate to have gone through all of that for no gain other than another lost pathfinder.
Turning to the others, Can either Trevor or Pollux get rid of it by yourselves since it seems that Pollux is at least in possession of a scroll I purchased for him.
Trevor Culexis
Let us combine our efforts with Ailyn then. Instead of Resist Elements, Trevor will prep two Remove Curses.
Remove Curse #1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Remove Curse #2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Trevor herps so much he derps
Two rolls the same? Yesh
Pollux
Having forgotten about curses, puzzle boxes and strangely enough veal, Pollux wanders the city, making purchases and spreading the light and joy which as is his particular idiom.
The rat eats hearty and seems sleeker and perhaps a bit larger when you next see Castor.
{Making purchases and taking 10 on the rat feeding. Spells learned no problem}
{Happy to try w/ the remove cursing but the odds do not favor us. Remove curse has a scaling issue. Caster check is flat caster level while the curse DC is spell level+casting stat. I have no idea what DC the rune-curse is but Pollux casts Bestow curse at DC 18 while only having a +5 to remove. Monkey is hard pressed to clean up his own messes much less bollixing something made by someone competent.}
Tal Bernard Mainz
Tark, who can I go talk to about this glaive and find out if there is a chance it will slowly possess me? Also if there are multiple days of waiting could Trevor or Pollux keep trying to remove the curse until they succeed and just assume that after 10 days of 2 per day that they hit a 20 for a total of 25? Other than that I am ready to move onwards.

That assumes the curse DC is 25 or less. Curse DC for items is 10+caster level. Many cursed items have a cl of 16+. I suspect we will have to fight the devil. I just hope it is called rather than summoned or we will have to fight it again and again. Still 4 chances a day between them gives a decent shot at that elusive 20.
TarkXT
@TaL: The Glaive seems insulted at the notion that it'd ever want to possess you. Tal knows that there are few willing to purchase na intelligent weapon due, in part, to their personalities. However you have received mail at your forge noting that the church of asmodeus is interested in purchasing rare magical items or lost relics of the Prince of Darkness.
You can have multiple days of waiting. Ailyn makes her attempt after Trevor tries.
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
After the first day Ailyn sadly announces that the curse is rather potent and that he'll have to come back in the morning for them to try again.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 OUCH
That In his nightmare mind his flesh is burning as he is writhing in a lake of fire being drowned by devils. Perched atop a stone made of the screaming danmed above him is a creature that looks like some twisted deity combine the worst elements of a bat, scorpion and giant skeleton. It points a gaunt and wicked finger at Tal.
"Soooooon...."
Tal wakes up screaming until his wife calms him down. 1 wis damage.
Trevor can try again. The DC is 22. But, given it's special nature you take a -5 caster level penalty for your attempt.
Pollux
Trevor can try again. The DC is 22. But, given it's special nature you take a -5 caster level penalty for your attempt.
{Sorry Tal. Caster level for Mr. Sunshine or the Monkey 5. Assume 20 on the roll means DC 25. Less 5 from the penalty means that DC22 is just out of reach.}
So given that one will be calling soon what do we know about the devil in question.....{Knowledge Planes, guidance: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 11 + 1 = 26, Fortune take the better reroll Knowledge Planes, guidance: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 1 = 29 So 29 on the what does the devil want for dinner check...
[ooc]{pssssst Trevor Guidance does not work on caster level checks. Nor does fortune or aid other. The dc is impossible for us to reach.}
