Jairo places settings at the table, portioning off food for each of you. "I do not believe she was initially. My mistress did not inform me much of her life, instead commanding me as she pleased. I have seen older missives and markings of hers with the symbol of your Pathfinder Society on them, each defaced as though it personally affronted her. Perhaps you will find her sometime in the future. Now then," he says clapping his hands together, "dinner is served. Please enjoy the food."

Sorry

Kelris digs into this food being famished from the travels and the lack of food they got.

"So your mistress fled here?" Kelris asks

Jairo lets off a soft sigh, "Yes. Though the accommodations are nice the...company is rather lacking."

As a player, I am totally stuck. Any chance I can make an Intelligence or Wisdom check? Something to decipher clues or questions to ask? It sounds like Aura has an idea, so I don't want to screw anything up for her by wasting a question.

With the rest of the group distracting the Djinn, how likely do I think it is that I would be able to sneak up the stairs?

Unlikely. Jairo continues to observe the stairs and the party as he goes about his tasks.

I know there's a check, let me double check what it is...Ah DC 20 with bonuses for having picked up clues. So...

In a flash of inspiration Fethril has it. Desimire.

Thank you.

The elf wracks his brain as he pieces the puzzle together. synapses fire as things finally fall into place. Though, just in case, he states the word without phrasing it as a question. He makes eye contact with Jairo and offers,"Thank you for the tea. Given the circumstances, it is quite acceptable. By the by, I believe the word you seek to hear is... Desmire!"

Jairo smiles slightly and bows again before making all the dishes disappear. "And to think you didn't even need your second guess. Feel free to move ahead, but go with my warning. The gnoll tribe’s chief has gone into the pasha’s suite and brought along another gnoll that the others avoid. As I understand it, this other gnoll violated a taboo and now bad luck follows wherever she goes."

A shallow reflecting pool is set into the tile floor, flanked by plush divans. Beyond two marble supporting columns, a heavy curtain separates the sitting room from the bedroom. A large map of Absalom hangs on the south wall, riddled with pins and crossed with colorful thread. You can see the curtains move from the gnolls that you already know are there. They appear to be preparing for combat.

Yep, Fethril's got that right...Reminds me of the Blessed Mallet of St. Eeeeeeuuuuuuuuw.

The flind looks around nervously as she is surrounded, shield raised to ward off attacks from Aura and Kelris when Fethril's magical bolt takes her in the back, pushing her forward. She looks up and sees a flash of light then nothing at all. Her corpse stands for a few moments more, before collapsing in a bloody fountain, headless.

As the one she just moved next to dies, Aura sighs and then moves around to set up a flank on the one that appeared to be just watching the fight Provoking as she goes, should the witch threaten. She then prepared to strike as soon as someone joined her in combat.

Readied action to attack when someone moves into the flank: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage Roll w/Sneak Attack: 1d4 + 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + (2, 3) + 2 = 9

The other gnoll stabs with its spear at Aura as she slips past, trying to stop the elf.

Stab!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Seeing her pack leader beheaded without issue seems to have shaken her, causing her spear to crack against the stonework. This gives Aura the opportunity to slip her dagger in between its ribs, causing it to spew blood on the floor in front of it. Sabert pulls out his crossbow and fires it at the gnoll as she looks to escape.

Twang!: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 = 3

The bolt goes wide, but it causes a distraction letting the gnoll slip away. She rushes forward, slipping away from Aura, but passing close to Kelris and Fethril as it moves toward the front door.

The map of Absalom bears over a hundred pins tipped with beads of wax in half a dozen colors; many red, blue, and green strings connect various pins together. About thirty pins and several pieces of string lie on the ground under the map.

DC 20 Perception:
While examining the bookshelf, written in quite a bit of Kelish, you find a slim novel titled The Slave Master's Mirror. Pulling on the volume reveals the bookcase is on a hinge as it swings open to a new room.

DC 25 Kn. (geography, local, or nobility):
You spend some time looking at the map on the wall and deciphering what the pins and string could possibly mean. You begin to ascertain major patterns in the placement of pins and string suggesting al’Jakri has found ways to spy on not only a dozen Absalom families but also a large number of the city’s more prestigious institutions, such as the Forae Logos and the Arcanamirium. Decoding the map entirely would take days and would still rely on considerable speculation without additional data, but you've made a good start.
