Jairo places settings at the table, portioning off food for each of you. "I do not believe she was initially. My mistress did not inform me much of her life, instead commanding me as she pleased. I have seen older missives and markings of hers with the symbol of your Pathfinder Society on them, each defaced as though it personally affronted her. Perhaps you will find her sometime in the future. Now then," he says clapping his hands together, "dinner is served. Please enjoy the food."

Sorry
Kelris digs into this food being famished from the travels and the lack of food they got.
"So your mistress fled here?" Kelris asks

As a player, I am totally stuck. Any chance I can make an Intelligence or Wisdom check? Something to decipher clues or questions to ask? It sounds like Aura has an idea, so I don't want to screw anything up for her by wasting a question.
Int check (if possible): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Wis check (if possible): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Thank you.
The elf wracks his brain as he pieces the puzzle together. synapses fire as things finally fall into place. Though, just in case, he states the word without phrasing it as a question. He makes eye contact with Jairo and offers,"Thank you for the tea. Given the circumstances, it is quite acceptable. By the by, I believe the word you seek to hear is... Desmire!"
| GM Fez |
Jairo smiles slightly and bows again before making all the dishes disappear. "And to think you didn't even need your second guess. Feel free to move ahead, but go with my warning. The gnoll tribe’s chief has gone into the pasha’s suite and brought along another gnoll that the others avoid. As I understand it, this other gnoll violated a taboo and now bad luck follows wherever she goes."

James says, "Jairo, we'll see what we can do about freeing you though it may be nothing for now. Let me lead the way and hopefully we'll take care of the gnolls quickly."

Aura lingered at the door for a moment, where she was considering her approach when Fethril guessed the password.
I guess even a fool can be useful once in a while.
She then rejoins the group and heads into the quarters, nary a comment to be made.

A shallow reflecting pool is set into the tile floor, flanked by plush divans. Beyond two marble supporting columns, a heavy curtain separates the sitting room from the bedroom. A large map of Absalom hangs on the south wall, riddled with pins and crossed with colorful thread. You can see the curtains move from the gnolls that you already know are there. They appear to be preparing for combat.

A magical flash comes from the nearer silhouette before it steps around the curtain and advances on you, flindbar and shield raised. The flind's preparations are not enough to protect it from James' scythe as it curves around her shield and slash her.

Yep, Fethril's got that right...Reminds me of the Blessed Mallet of St. Eeeeeeuuuuuuuuw.
The flind looks around nervously as she is surrounded, shield raised to ward off attacks from Aura and Kelris when Fethril's magical bolt takes her in the back, pushing her forward. She looks up and sees a flash of light then nothing at all. Her corpse stands for a few moments more, before collapsing in a bloody fountain, headless.

As the one she just moved next to dies, Aura sighs and then moves around to set up a flank on the one that appeared to be just watching the fight Provoking as she goes, should the witch threaten. She then prepared to strike as soon as someone joined her in combat.

The other gnoll stabs with its spear at Aura as she slips past, trying to stop the elf.
Stab!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Seeing her pack leader beheaded without issue seems to have shaken her, causing her spear to crack against the stonework. This gives Aura the opportunity to slip her dagger in between its ribs, causing it to spew blood on the floor in front of it. Sabert pulls out his crossbow and fires it at the gnoll as she looks to escape.
Twang!: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 = 3
The bolt goes wide, but it causes a distraction letting the gnoll slip away. She rushes forward, slipping away from Aura, but passing close to Kelris and Fethril as it moves toward the front door.

Aura begins chasing after the gnoll, allowing Kelris to leave a deep gash in its side as it tries to rush past him. It only looks where its going as James slips next to it, his scythe bringing another soul to Pharasma's Boneyard. Combat over!
The map of Absalom bears over a hundred pins tipped with beads of wax in half a dozen colors; many red, blue, and green strings connect various pins together. About thirty pins and several pieces of string lie on the ground under the map.

The mage looks over the tomes. "I doubt the mongrels could even read these. Maybe to line their chamber pots. Oh, who are we kidding? I am certain they just leave it on the floor. Disgusting! And with no appreciation of some of these works. Why, take this one for example. The Slave Master's Mirror. Let's just see what this is about..." <click> "Shades of Grey! There is a chamber here. By the way, there was no trap and I'm fine thank you very much. I could have been seriously injured. Can we please stay on task as we investigate this room?"
Of course I have none of those knowledges. Thought I had nobility, but apparently human succession rituals are to base a topic for Fethril to consider. What an arrogant tool! I hate that guy.

The cleric raises a hand to silence the others. He hastily writes The Lady Darchana calls to me, asking about our progress. Do we agree that we have the correct device but not the ring-leader?
He understands how the spell works, so if he must respond to the magical inquiry before he can actually write this out, he will reply to the idea posted above about having the mirror but not the presumed BBEG as she fled before we arrived.

You do realize that you posted EXACTLY 25 words, right Fethril?
"Tell her that we found a map with points on it and that I am making a copy of the map with notes on that she can summon with her magic. I will be drawing a sigil of the open road with nine stars surrouding it on a plain white piece of paper, with her name written directly below the circle of stars." says Aura as she completes her annoted map, then draws the picture on the back just as she described it.

How about something like this: Have mirror, spymistress fled before arrival. Duplicating discovered map of Absalom with color-coded points of interest. Writing 'Darchana' on duplicate's reverse. Please scry ASAP.
