Aurichalcum
"A dragon and a healer". Amir makes the Katapesh gesture for "thank you".
Aurichalcum returns the gesture. "Sarenrae guides my quest to achieve my full might and glory, she gifts me with the benevolence of Sun and Flame, as do Moloch and Asmodeus whisper to me of the use of flame in warding off those who would seek to harm me and mine"
"... all I ask is that I can read them before selling them or moving on."
"We. We can read them before selling." interjects the mini-dragon.
Amir Awad Hajjir
Only so that the reading does not make Kzrira stand about tamping her foot in frustration or you lose me to set out a camp chair and sleep. You will find her and I difficult to shake from our stages of coping while you burn away the sun reading your books and drawings. Amir smiles at his jest as he looks about the area. And don't forget that Karethas might be prone to wander off or try a spell or two as you are so engrossed. That might be even more mischief in the making!
Kzrira Maiwith
Sorry, did someone mention my name? While you all were reading books I was seeing whether the vulture poop made the grass and weeds grow any faster.
Sarcasm: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Aurichalcum
"The hatchling seeks her den mother? I too seek my kin and kind, though the answers and clues marking the way of my quest are to be found in the dusty books and paintings. The difference between our two quests is that her Haleen might be travelling in a dangerous desert and in need of being found, whereas my quest, equally important, is one that is less time bound and more esoteric. Sarenrae sent me for a reason, perhaps your group is actually the waypoint Sarenrae guided me here to find, along with her words of wisdom and sacred texts, and thus your search for Haleen is mine too?"
Karethas ibn Faradin
Karethas smiles at Amir's comments. "Oh, I don't think I will be doing much wandering rafiq. I appreciate some steel between myself and the creatures such as we have found here."
Im chaperoning a high school trip to NYC this weekend, so my posting is going to be limited as well.
Kzrira Maiwith
Looking at Faelar and shaking my head at his naivety: Yes, I am seeking Haleen. But the closer I get to Kelmarane, the more I wonder whether she is a prisoner, or whether my mother is not the woman I knew. However, I must find her before I will know which of these is the truth. I am hopeful that she is safe and just a prisoner. But being a prisoner in a tribe of Lamatshu worshipping gnolls does not sound like a likely scenario, at least for a safe prisoner.
Either way, my crossbow shall help to guide my way. And you all as my companions as well. Auri, I would be honored to have you with us. If our quests follow similar paths, then I believe our skills will complement each other well.
With that, Kzrira returns to scanning the area watching for any more pugs or other potential dangers.
Faelar Braegen
Failing to sense any magical aura's in this area, I move out of the thicket and prepare to head to the next room. My Rapier is in hand and I am ready to advance. I turn to face my new friends, "So Kzrira is looking for her mother, The Great Aurichalcum is looking for the secrets to regaining his full size and I am looking for an original copy of "Tales of Shaharezthed". What or who are you searching for Karethas, Amir?"
Sheik Voodoo
As Karethas and Amir weigh in on their own quests, You continue westward through the monastery entering a large but plain interior corridor leading to various chambers. A weatherworn statue of a winged woman stands in the middle of the hall. room A13
Kzrira Maiwith
Quickly raising my crossbow: Where?
As soon as Auri indicates where, I fire.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 <-- Subtract 1 if more than 30'.
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Amir Awad Hajjir
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
In the corners, from the darkness!
Amir readies himself for the incoming assault from the oversized beasts. 5ft step to consolidate to the best defensive position I can muster, I assume I still have my sword out but I will draw it with the step if need be. Total defense this round since it would seem I need them to pounce to reach them...I really should find my bow at some point ;-P
Post Total Defense my AC is 21
Karethas ibn Faradin
PERCEPTION CHECK: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
You guys have been busy posting beavers the last 24 hours!
Karethas walks obliviously into the room continuing the earlier conversation about quests. "I don't have any particular quests as it were, but finding myself unfortunately without a source of income or support, I have been caught up on our grand adventure here. At the sudden activity concerning the spiders he just stands looking as others jump into action.
Sheik Voodoo
Aurichalcum
OK comprehension fail on my behalf :p I figured he might want to re-consider given the map and init order, but if we are sticking with them coming to us...
Aurichalcum braces on all four limbs and flares out his wings, very much resembling a dragon ready for the fight.
He awaits the spiders advance with his comrades.
Hold action - attack, when they get in range.
Attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Damage 1d6 ⇒ 6
Sheik Voodoo
Amir steps back upon sighting the threatening shapes in the dark corners and prepares to parry envenomed fang. Then the spiders leap forward crossing the room in the blink of an eye. One charges Kzrira and sinks its fangs deep into the stunned archer's thigh. Kzrira-ouch-crit- 9 hp bite, DC 14 fort or 2 str damage
Another races along the wall leaping past the tiny dragon as it sinks its burning stinger into the third oversized spider. The acrobatic arachnid bites hard on the mini-dragons wing as its eight-legged brother nips the offending tail. Auri-ouch-second crit :P -6 hp bite, second bite -2 hp, DC 16 fort or 2 Str damage.

Round 1
Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
HP: 6/21
Ouch - could use a little healing here guys. These things hurt.
I pull out my rapier and 5-foot move to G6.
Attack-Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Try to flank me, I don't think so dirty insects.
Figures, rocking attacks, crap damage.
Karethas ibn Faradin
Karethas twists the ring on his finger for a moment as he begins a complicated series of gestures and incantations. Glowing circles of arcane figures surround him as the spell power builds.
Full-round action: Summon Monster I using Arcane Bond, Genie Caller, and Summoner's Charm. Summoning the wonder pup again, which will last 5 rounds with all the bonuses.
Ready made flanker, coming right up!
Faelar Braegen
Cure Light Wounds (Via Wand) : 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Rapier Attack : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Rapier Damage : 1d6 ⇒ 4
Seriously?! They are terrible rolls!
Amir Awad Hajjir
For round 2
Tumble to f5 to avoid Aoo and get flank.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Assuming he gets past the spider without dying and having the flank Amir will open up on the spider in front of him.
Attack 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 2 = 11
Somehow I doubt that hits. Just in case: 1d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 1 + (2) = 6
Amir Awad Hajjir
Since Kzrira has typically done her best to extract herself from melee I figured my best option was to roll up to you and team things. Now she is in melee and getting chewed on a little more harshly than normal but I figured since Faelar is there and the summon is placed on resolution moving up to the little dragon being attacked by big spiders was the most logical choice.
Kzrira Maiwith
Yeh, I would prefer to be shooting these guys, but right now on the front line, I think that just swinging my rapier is the best option. I think we are all hitting the red spider at present. I thought about going after the one you hit before, but since I am already pretty beat up, giving them a bunch of flanking attacks seemed like a bad idea.
Aurichalcum
Yeah I see now our tankage options are a bit limited, and we need to think about our offensive output, our damage rolls are pretty small figures - wishing I was a real dragon now and not Pinnochio. Reckon we would have been better off charging the mobs from the get go in this case rather than wait for them to come to us... and work out some kind of flanking arrangement between myself and the rogue? Bit of a shame Auri sucks at melee so badly! :p
On the red spider...
Tail
1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 = 25
1d6 ⇒ 6
Bite
1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 2 = 18
1d2 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1 (Min 1 non-lethal)
Kzrira Maiwith
It would have also helped if I had not rolled a 1 and a 2 on my damage and crit.
I will be taking Dervish Dancer, probably next level, and also some rogue levels so that I have backstab damage.
Once I cut off the first two legs, they are insects.
Amir Awad Hajjir
And I will probably take fighter either next level or the level after....so I think we will all end up dipping into weird fleet of foot/agile fighter types.
Sheik Voodoo
Amir nimbly dodges past the spider, but misses his attack as Karethas begins a summoning spell. Kzrira thrusts her blade into the horrible spider's face, but lacks the force for a killing blow. Aurichalcum finshes the job with a strike from his flaming tail barb.
Faelar delivers a small touch of healing to Kzrira as the remaining spiders attack. With Kzrira's retreat, one of the bulbous beasts snaps at Faelar with flexing mandibles, but misses. The other grabs Aurichalcum's leg for a moment injecting venom.
Auri-2 hp bite, DC 14 Fort save or 2 Str damage.

Karethas finishes his spell with a flourish. A little celestial dog appears on the far side of the furthest.
Summon dog to E9, which Smites the spider in F8:
1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 2 = 16 Damage:1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7
Trip if attack is successful: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 2 = 12
ACID DART (2 of 7/day) 30ft Ranged Touch Attack:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 Damage:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Acid Damage.
Faelar Braegen
Seeing that my wand is still defective, I tap it against my hand to get it working, step away from the spider and touch its tip to Kzrira again, hoping it will work properly now.
Cure Light Wounds (Via Wand) : 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 (Your kidding me, again?!)
I took a 5 foot step to G5
Kzrira Maiwith
HP: 11/21 After Faelar healing this round.
I think my rapier is just as defective as your wand Faelar. Perhaps we should find the merchant who sold us this stuff.
5-foot step to G5
Move: Load Crossbow
Attack-F8(if alive otherwise H7): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Sheik Voodoo
With moves belying his age, Amir cartwheels and spins into position, but fails to connect with his attack. A gleaming terrier suddenly appears and tears the leg off a spider, however with seven to spare the spider maintains its footing and even dodges Karethas' acid glob. Kzrira quickly slams a bolt in her crossbow and remedies the situation leaving a second giant spider to curl into a dying ball.
Auri shakes off the effects of the venom as he moves on the final foe and leaves a scorch mark across its abdomen as Faelar continues attempting to render first aid. The wolf spider reflexively snaps at the attacking dragon, but Auri easily dodges its bite.

Two down one to go. Karethas, your puppy needs to get two legs next time to make it into an insect.
I reload my bow and fire another bolt at the last spider.
Attack-crossbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Faelar Braegen
"Once we find that merchant again, I will be having serious words with them!"
I attempt to heal Kzrira again, shaking the wand and twisting it in my palm. I then touch it's tip to her arm again. "If you don't work this time, I will give you to one of the Pugwampis, I am sure they would like a new back scratcher!"
Cure Light Wounds (Via Wand) : 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
