Ashley Aaronson
Ashley smiles back at the handsome wood elf "Well, it's certainly been an interesting week. I have learned so many things that I hardly could even have imagined to exist. And now I am doing such incredible things!
But how are you feeling Leorn? Have you fully recovered from your illness? Perhaps you should be sitting out this battle? I know it is just a mock battle, but the lizardfolk are such fearsome foes! I am very glad that they are really on our side. I am worried enough about out friends and allies getting hurt, I would rather not have to worry about you as well if you are not fully well.:
As she says this last Ashley steps forward and lays a gentle hand on Leorn's cheek. Instantly he feels a radiant heat flowing from her palm. She leaves her hand there a moment longer and then smiles shyly and looks down at the ground.
Leorn
Alright I have fallen into a good bit of free time and am ready to get this boat started. Woohoo. now I have noticed an issue. I posted stuff and only responses I have recieved are from Ash and Trent. Now I understand Terry has had a sort pf medical emergency but I hope at least three of your are still with me. If not, I will end this thread. Now post a resposnse to Ash.
Leorn nods. "Yes I have recovered from the illness. I am well enough for the battle. This is for you after. Kershak has mad it clear to the rest of us that you all are unfamiliar with combat and that could heavily hinder our cause should any of you succumb to any for of trauma on the battlefield. The rest of us simply need pratice fighting in the swamp against foes who move better than the rest of us. Now go and get ready." He smiles at you and nods.
Reginald Bullock
I'm here. I didn't realize you wanted a response for that last bit.
Reginald exits the tent and readies himself for the upcoming exercise, donning armor and a wooden club, and calming himself with breathing techniques. He seems lost in thought for the most part, thinking of all that's happened to the group so far, and all that they'll still have to do.
Shanosuke
Alrighty we are good to go. Glad to hear your okay Terry. I was getting worried.
the hour of the mock battle has come at last. Dunnely stands before the four of you. "Make sure to stay close to your elf friend. He will guide you through. The goal is for you to cross that creek that is 400 feet over there. Once your across the battle will end. Try not to get hurt but more importantly, try not to die."
He walks off and Kershak and a lizard approach the four of you. "It isss important that you ssurvive. We have three sstylesss of armor. Mossss woods light armor, Bone armor, and Bronze plate armor. Take whichever you feel mosst comfotable in. We will help you put it on."
Once you have selected your armor the Kershak joins the others preparing the blockade.
As you wait in anticipation, the preasure becomes more real. You are about to rush into a situation were people want to hurt you. In truth they want you DEAD but in this skirmish it is only to hurt.
You stand ready, your comrades are serious. Then the horn sounds the start of the skirmish and people begin to move.
Leorn shouts. "We hold here until the flanking units draw their forces aside, then we rush the middle. Got it?"
Armor Specs
Equivalent to Leather armor only made of wood. All other stats are the same.
Same as Hide Armor.
Same as Half Plate armor.
Go ahead and do some roleplay or post reactions please.
Terry Allen - GMS' Sorcerers
Terry takes a suit of Moss Woods light armor. Is this equivalent to leather, or studded leather?
Terry nods once, curtly. "Got it." While the group waits, he takes advantage of his pacing to scope out the ground that they'll have to cross from a few different angles. He's particularly looking for any cover, any obstacles, or things like that. "So all we have to do is run 400 feet? Gotta be a catch there somewhere."
Reginald Bullock
Reginald selects the bronze plate. Though he hasn't worn such heavy armor before, he is leery about wearing bones, and figures the bronze armor would be the best protection.
As he takes considerable time donning the armor (possibly getting help from Gene?), Reggy talks with her about the battle, learning how hard she thinks it will be and taking any advice she has.
Ashley Aaronson
Ashley merely arches an eyebrow at the armors and Kershak. The big lizard couldn't seriously be thinking she'd be putting any of those on her body, could he??
After he leaves, and when the beginning of the battle is only seconds away, she closes her eyes, concentrates, and calls upon the Spirit within her to summon protective spirits around her.
At first, nothing seems to be happening, but then her hair and bits of her clothing begin to move, swirling around her although there is no breeze strong enough to do so. The swirling increases and the beautiful redhead's eyes widen at what she is seeing. Whatever it is though, only she knows, for no one else can see anything. Finally, the swirling seems to settle down and she herself seems to calm down. Calmly Ashley says "I am ready" even though it appears she is about to walk into battle wearing nothing more than her skimpy silks.
She then nods at Leorn's commands and again concentrates, this time causing a bow of solid flame to appear in her hands! As she puts her fingers to the flaming string, an arrow made of solid flame appears between her fingers.
Occasionally though, out of the corner of their eyes, her friends seem to catch sight of swirling forms constantly circling around her. Whenever they turn to look straight on though, the sight disappears.
Oracle: Summons Spirit Shield, +4 AC, duration 1 hr.
And casts spell, Fire Bow
PS, can't recall if you told us or not already Shano, but how many times a day can we cast our 1st level Sorcerer spells? And is it ability based at all, or the same for all of us sorcerers? (IE does having a higher ability score grant bonus spells, like in the regular game?)
Trent Dunn
I am here sorry haha german is kicking my butt, neways we did establish if we have armor we do take the arcane armor failure? yes? lol making sure it was worth it to go with magus lol
Trenton frowns at the selection of armor, Not what you read in the books at all but then we are in a swamp He nods and begins to strap on the bone armor it being the best fit as he regrets the fine suits of chain mail and shining armor you always hear about in stories.
Total AC now 17 I believe, dont have books with me
Looking down at himself he mumbles "I look ridiculous." He grumbles but then draws his sword and breathes deeply putting himself at ease before looking to the others.
"Well at least I will have lots of water to work with." He says jokingly.
Reginald Bullock
Reginald nods to Trent's joke, saying, "I guess that's one good thing about this terrain."
Reginald says to Ashley, "Nice bow. Try not to hit us with it, 'kay?" He smiles at her, seeming less awkward now than he has in the past. He takes to stretching around in the armor, getting a feel for the new, heavier thing.
Shanosuke
WOw I did not even realize Trent had posted....in German no less. Sorry guys! Somehow I didn't notice when I checked my campaign list that this one had posts on it. Weird
Alright time to get this party started.
The groups are devided and you are a good ways away. You can see the lizards from where you are at. They are armed with clubs and shields. The two flanking parties manage to draw the two groups apart. However, with superiority over terrain, the lizards engage quickly and soon have the upper hand.
The lizards aren't holding back. They are clubbing your allies with every intention to win. Your allies are doing the same. From your vantage you can see the fight very clearly. It isn't pretty.
Your group starts to move.
You can cast spells level one or higher 1 time a day + 1 for every level hereafter. So your get 1 use out of your level one spell for now. Next level you get two, and then three. 0 level spells are infinate. There are other means to increase your spells per day you will learn later. For now you are all week.
Terry Allen - GMS' Sorcerers
Terry grins as well. "Yeah, I'm generally in good shape that way, but with you two it's usually one or the other--not often that we get both. And Ash just has to heat things up any way she can."
Ashley could maybe get some gloves made out of material that'll spark when she snaps her fingers, although I may have seen something like that used elsewhere.
Ashley Aaronson
Ashley smiles back at Reggy, thinking for a moment to herself how good he looks in his armor, and how well it seems to fit him 'Reg, if the girls back home could see you now you'd never, ever have a problem getting a date again' she thinks to herself. Then, realizing, 'Why not?' she repeats the same thing aloud, grinning even bigger and her shy friend's blush.
Enjoying the patter between the friends as they try to talk off their nervousness before the fight she responds in kind to Terry "Well, you know boys, I always try to make things hot" as she gives a sexy sway of her barely concealed hips to emphasize her point.
While she says all of this though she never takes her eyes off of the lizardmen in front of her and keeps her fiery arrow nocked, ready to shoot at the first 'enemy' that comes to close.
Reginald Bullock
Reginald blushes at Ashley's comment, too embarrassed to form a reply. However, it's evident from his nervous grin that he enjoyed the compliment. He also fails to hide his wandering eyes as he watches her hips, and he similarly refrains from comment there. However, once the battle starts in earnest, he puts (most of) his thoughts of Ashley aside and focuses. He looks onward to the battling groups, trying to carefully evaluate how good both sides are doing. Once the group gets within approximately 100 feet of the nearest "enemy", Reggy will cast his Stone Mace spell (which I'm putting on my profile for easier access).
Trent Dunn
Trent grins at his companions stretching slightly with his sword trying to get used to the weight of the odd looking armor. "If anyone back home could see us now they would they we were going to some sort of comic con."
As they near the battlefield Trenton frowns concentrating inwardly to ready his magic feeling the power stirring in the marsh as he draws closer.
Shanosuke
Leorn looks to you "For now stay close."
After watching the battle unfold your team begins its advance.
Moving quickly you feel slowed by the muck of the swamp making the trek difficult. You move as fast as you can towards the bridge. A handful of lizards break off from defending the flanks to attack your group. Dunnely shouts. "Lookout! Incoming!" Your team moves to engage the enemy. Leorn shouts. "Go! You need to get across the bridge!" The maximum movement you need to get to the bridge is 100 feet. It is difficult terrain so your total movement. If you can make it in one turn, you succeed. Best of luck
Reginald Bullock
I would only be able to move 40' if my move speed wasn't reduced by the difficult terrain. I'm at a 20' speed as is. Even if Reggy could raise up the ground to create a path, which at this point he definitely cannot, I could only run at 60' a round, so I'm not getting there fast enough unless one of you has something clever to move me rapidly.
Trent Dunn
sorry about my absence of late started new job neways can we have a sum up of what we are looking at gm just so I know whats going on are we going on turns of init or just post what we shall do before battle or something haha sory bout this
Trent makes his way through the muck his sword held at the ready as he had been taught glancing about until he saw the lizards approch. "Just remember to not hurt them tood badly guys." He winks at his companions before returning his gaze towards the 'enemies' readying his first combat spell.
Reginald Bullock
Reginald trudges very slowly through the muck, clearly being hampered by his heavy suit of armor. He stops, staying still and focusing for a few seconds, before casting his Stone Mace spell. He tries to keep as clear of the enemies as he can while still heading toward the bridge; however, if they get close, he'll be ready to defend himself.
Shanosuke
The warrior with you fan out to keep the lizards off you. They push and push. A three get around your defenders and are making their way towards you. They are snarling and bearing their teeth and claws, it seems as though they actually mean to kill you.
Will Save DC 10 to overcome fear of the display. Failure means you are dazed. No action.
How do you wish to respond if able?
Trent Dunn
Will save1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
How close are they to us Shano? PLanning on waiting till im withen 10 ft of target
As he draws closer Trenton breathes in deeply leveling his sword at the closest snarling lizard he calls to the water around him and then (if Terry has not already knocked the closest down this would go to next one) unleahses a torrent of water at the lizard man.
Water gun at 10ft
Rangeds touch?1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
1d6 ⇒ 1epic fail dice epic fail lol
Shanosuke
Let me put it this way. Reggy has had two weeks of martial training. Not even months can prepare people for the fear of deadly combat or even the site of an approaching monster. Even your defensive abilities are impaired. I have experience in this field and I have seen it way to often to know that even strong willed people choke when confronted with something new. That is why the will check. You are dazed, dear in the headlights, standing there convincing yourself that this is all a dream and there isn't an angry monster the likes of which you have never seen before, bearing its nasty teeth and roaring menacingly ready to eat you alive. Yeah it happens to the best of us.
Hmm tell you what. Miss the 10 but stay above a 5 and you are frightened. Score bellow a 5 on the will check and your dazed with fear.
Ashley Aaronson
Will save vs Fear DC10: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Upon seeing what looks like something straight out of Jurrasic Park bearing down on her, Ashley experiences a moment of pure terror, but then the Fire suddenly rages within her, burning away her fear in a flash of protective fury and her mind and voice cry powerfully as one, denying fear, denying death, in one explosive word "NO!".
And in time with this shout, she releases her first ever arrow of fire at a living target, the arrow flying clean and pure, smashing into the chest of her 'foe' with all its possible might.
Fire Bow attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
oooh! That woulda been sweet if that had been a crit!
Terry Allen - GMS' Sorcerers
Round 1:
Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
After freezing up when the demon attacked the tower, Terry is determined it won't happen again. This is it! Now let's see if this works....
Spell failure chance (10%): 1d100 ⇒ 10
Gathering his arcane power, Terry attempts to cast his fist of wind, but the unfamiliar armor binds his arms as he brings them around in a sweep; the spell's energies do not cohere.
Shanosuke
You all unleash on the three lizards with your magic. fortunately the elements you all need are handy at the moment. You unleash. However, the results are not quite what you had hoped.
Reggy is frozen in fear as he sees this 7 foot monster out of a horror film bear down on him. Suddenly Gene steps in front and defects the lizards attack with a sword and delivers a blunt blow of her own. The lizard staggers and is stopped in its tracks.
Terry attempts to cast his spell but the armor throws off his casting ability and he fails.
Ashley unleashes a fire arrow that stops the lizard where it stands, but he merely shakes it off and moves in again. "Ashley!" Leorn shouts. He leaps to her rescue taking the club to the side of his head. He holds his ground ready to defend again.
Trent pulls water from the nearby pools and uses his power to funnel it into a preasure tube that knocks the lizard back several feet.
Now the party has stopped moving as they struggle to fend off the more mobile lizards who are pushing hard against the defenders.
Looks pretty hopeless. What can you do against a foe with such an advantage?
Shanosuke
It could potentally effect all of it. Right now it depends on your skill which is real low right now. However, at higher levels you could someday manipulate oxygen levels in specific spots. There are spells based off that too. Right now all it can do is move air around.
Shanosuke
Sorry to drop the bomb like this guys but I have decided to end this campaign. I have been having a blast with you guys but I have a lot of RL work to do and this campaign requires more time and effort than most. It was a pleasure to play with you all and I am sorry we could not go further. If I ever have the time again I may try and contact you to start this up again but for now, I am shutting this down. Best wishes to you all.
