Shadowbrook Manor, a Labyrinth Lord Adventure

Welcome to the discussion thread.

Hope you guys don't mind me going old school with the way I am running my characters. I grew up in the red and blue box era. Bargle the Evil Magic User and all that :)

Wait, question for clarification, I had assumed that we knew where the tomb was, or that the general location was common knowledge? Do we actually need a guide?

You know the general location of the tomb is roughly 10 miles to the northwest of town, but few have been brave enough to actually go there because of the legends.

It will be up to all of you to decide if you need a guide or if you feel you can get there on your own.

Can you say wandering monster tables? :)

Hey Blue, did you make your second character?

A couple quick housekeeping items:

1. Nobody brought a ten-foot pole? I'm wounded! ;-)

2. I don't see any spell listed on Robious's character sheet. We're using the LL rule that Clerics are allowed one spell at 1st level, not the D&D Basic rule of no spells till 2nd level.

Ahhh, okay I had the red book out. Any other differences I should be aware of?

And let's do - cure light wounds of course.

The Cleric spell at level 1 is the major change. Some of the numbers on some tables are a bit different - I've noticed slightly higher % for Thieves' skills, in favor of the player, and LL has rules for advancement up to level 20, as opposed to 14 in the D&D Expert set.

As I understand it, most of the differences are minor tweaks done for legal reasons by Goblinoid Games.

I have both rulesets, but I'm favoring LL just because it's available for free and I didn't want to force anyone who didn't already have some form of the D&D Basic rules to buy it.

Hey, just wanted to note we've had a power outage over here IRL. I'm posting this from my phone and have enough battery left that I'm writing up a gameplay post right now, but if we don't get power back before tomorrow I may be AFK for a day or two, just a warning.

Good luck baticeer. I just had to deal with a brief power outage myself today.

(Fortunately our power came back in a reasonable amount of time and I will be around for the foreseeable future, lol.)

Marching order suggestions?
I think Maud in the very front to check for traps, Blue next to have a fighter on the front line, Tydeus should be in the middle because Squishy Wizard, then Robious and Drizzle?

Male Human Fighter 1 HP 8/8 AC 2

works for me

Is everyone still out there? Baticeer, you haven't posted in over a week now. If there's something I need to clarify in-game or any other delays please let me know.

If I don't see posts by tomorrow evening I'm going to have to bot Maud and Tydeus to move things along.

I'm so sorry for being absent! It's been a really crazy week and I let most of my online stuff fall by the wayside. Writing up an IC post now.

Would you consider doing the you are dead at -10 option? That really helps with character mortality.

Shadowbrook Manor Ground Level Map Evil Labirynth Lord /2

New House Rule: If you are reduced to 0 HP, you are unconscious. If your total HP drops to the negative of your max HP, you die.

Maud will still need to save vs. poison or die in 1d4 turns.

Everyone still here?

I'm just waiting for direction as to where you want to explore next.

Female Thief 1 | HP -1/5 | AC 7 | THAC0 19

I said I was going to move up and look around the corner (at 3.06) to see what was down that way, I think?

Shadowbrook Manor Ground Level Map Evil Labirynth Lord /2

My apologies. I totally missed that. I'll have an update up shortly.

Female Thief 1 | HP -1/5 | AC 7 | THAC0 19

How are we handling recovering from unconsciousness? I know Maud and Drizzle are down, but do we need to stabilize, or what...

Male Human Fighter 1 HP 8/8 AC 2

This is a good question. We have two down allies and one potion as I don't think the one from the pack was ever used. We could use it to get someone up and running. Blue is also about to drop but the internet dice don't seem to like him much so getting someone else up might be a good idea.

Male Human Fighter 1 HP 8/8 AC 2

At this point should we just bot out maud's characters? I feel like we're pretty close to the end of the module and I don't want to leave it just hanging. I like playing old school and it's a rare occasion I get to do so.

Shadowbrook Manor Ground Level Map Evil Labirynth Lord /2

Agreed. I'll bot Maud and Tydeus for now and Baticeer can join back in at some point.

Go ahead and continue the gameplay thread. At this point I'm going to assume the party is rested and ready to continue exploring the remainder of the tomb.

Guys I live in El Cajon, CA. I am totally in, but things are crazy.

Post as you can, but obviously be safe first and foremost.

Yeah, I didn't mean to force anyone into anything unsafe, but just let us know you're still alive an interested. Real life first 100%,

I have a cleric, I have to try to turn undead at least!

Ready to go whenever we get to Tolb. I figure that would be an easy way to meet up with a character Blue knows.

Shadowbrook Manor Ground Level Map Evil Labirynth Lord /2

Bear with me, we're going to have some downtime until at least the weekend while I prepare to take you into Shadowbrook Manor. I need a few days to get the maps ready. Lots of nasty things await!

Human Thief 1 HP 5/5 AC 6

Things are looking pretty bad for the Petes boys.

In case either of you are interested, I'm running a recruitment for Dungeon Crawl Classics running the 0-level funnel Sailors of the Starless Sea.

If you're not familiar, DCC is loosely based on Basic D&D but much more crazy and lethal. =) Players start with multiple 0-level characters and those who survive to level 1 become proper adventurers. I've got links to guides in the recruiting post.

I've got a couple people already interested, but I'm trying to get 5 players total.

Male Human Fighter 1 HP 8/8 AC 2

Just put up 3 characters for it. Sounds fun.
