Thanks GM Castle Blades for getting this up. I hope that it's okay that I gave a reason she isn't able to use her warp sphere ability to get out of this. Also hope that you are cool with me assuming this guy is hostile to Audria. If that's not the case, could you let me in on what's going on so I can play this properly?
@Marla: I'm playing as Audria recognizes you, but doesn't really know you that well. I figured that they wouldn't have had a lot of time to get to know you. That said, I'm looking forward to their interactions. :)
@everyone else: Congrats! I look forward to playing with all of you. I haven't really looked at anyone's character except Marla, so this should be a lot of fun getting to know your characters.

Will alignment play a big roll? Because I am having trouble pinning down Marla's. She's like the oppressive paladin nobody wants in the group but worse and hopefully, more interesting. She even thinks her Harbinger powers, which are fueled by wrath, are divinely granted. I was thinking LG but like so much so she wraps back around to LE sometimes. She's delusional, violent, and arrogant, but all in the name of Balserius. An extremist or a zealot.
@Audria: I figured. Training with the guardians probably took up a lot of time. Marla was just part of the support staff but had delusions of grandeur. You'd at least know her reputation for being a stickler for the rules to an extreme level. Extreme being she sometimes met out her own punishments. Also, you called yourself Arianna in gameplay I think.

Audria |

What I get for not paying attention to which game I'm posting to. :P
I don't know if I'd peg Marla as LE. Maybe more LN leaning towards evil. Perhaps a means-justify-the-ends type person, but not past the point of outright evil.
On another note, this is certainly going to be a shocking exchange for at least one of us. :)

Audria |

Just wondering, is Ianthe waiting on Audria to reply to Phaelanna? Also, where are the others? You might want to send them a PM Castle Blades.
I wanted to give everyone a chance to respond to what's going on, and I'm wondering if the guy that brought Audria in has noticed the commotion yet.

Castle Blades |

Slavery is illegal in all civilized areas of the world, which you happen to be in, and the pub is infamous for being a place where criminals gather, and the criminals dinner really care what's happening with the PC's.

Audria |

I just figured that Marla was being loud and people being people were turning to get a free show. Also, I think Jack's waiting on a more detailed description of the location we are at, something like:
It is the southern coastal city of Sumwhar, a teeming hive of every race on and under the surface. Anything can be found in the markets, assuming you have the connections and the coin. Cold currents from the south give the place a chill even in the height of summer. Rain is a constant fact and most of the streets in this major port are cobbles half-sunk into mud. It is here that you find the improbably named Good Banter Inn on this cold and rainy night. The place smells of spilt ale, sweat and other unsavory odors. The patrons look about at newcomers with a mixture of wariness and naked avarice that is unnerving to those not used to such places. Tables are crowded with mugs and bottles while the chairs are filled with rough-looking brigands, slavers, and worse from many races and walks of life. The grizzled barkeep keeps an eye on things with his one good eye, and sullen barmaids serve food and drink with an air of resignation that borders on hopelessness. Dwarves play cards, elves and humans toss bones, while conversations, loud and boasting of recent accomplishments or hushed and furtive about new opportunities for ill-gotten gains, buzz around the tavern, only pausing briefly when the doors open as newcomers arrive and seek shelter from a cold and rainy night.
Also, has the man that hauled Audria in noticed what's going on yet? I figure that pretty girls with platinum hair fetch a fair price on the slave markets in uncivilized areas, so I also figure that he'd be wary of anyone who appears to be taking too close of an interest or of Audria trying to slip away, whether he is planning on selling her at one of those markets or turning her in for a bounty.

Audria |

Thanks. That lets me figure out what she's doing there, as well as letting me extrapolate from there.
Er... are you referring to something Castle posted or my post above? If the latter, I don't have a clue where we are at the moment, and I'm pretty sure that the place isn't named the Good Banter Inn. I was just posting that by way of illustration.

Audria |

Oh. I took that and ran with it. Oops.
Heh, it happens, and as the others said, this is the OOC thread, so you don't have to use the OOC tags unless you need to say something as an aside or something like that.
On another note, I'm going to laugh if that mug is still full at the end of the fight that's almost inevitable now.

Audria |

Yup.
Also, you can format text so that it's easier to read and tell what's what.
[ooc] for out of character text.
[b] for dialogue or pointing something out.
[i] for internal thoughts, writing, emphasis, or scene-setting descriptions.
If you're posting from an Android phone/tablet, you might want to look at the Wayfinder App. It'll help with making the tags, which can be a pain on any touch keyboard.
But to get back to the fight at hand, how high are the ceilings here?

Audria |

To be fair, Audria was all for getting out of this mess with a minimum of fuss. It's just her captor went for his weapon, and at that point it was pretty clear this wasn't going to end peacefully. Although, given Marla's personality...

Explanation of abilities:
DESCRIPTION
This baleful aura spreads the despair you inflict and drains at the life of your victims. While you maintain this stance, whenever a creature within 20 feet of you becomes cursed as a result of another effect, you may select a different creature within 20 feet. That creature becomes cursed for a number of rounds equal to your initiation modifier. In addition, cursed creatures within 20 feet of you take additional points of damage equal to 1/4 your initiator level (minimum 1) per damage die whenever they take damage from an attack or effect.
DESCRIPTION
You hound a weakened enemy, keeping them in check. When you initiate this strike, you may teleport to any space within 60 feet that is within 10 feet of a creature that is cowering, cursed, shaken, frightened, or panicked. After you teleport, make a melee attack against that creature, if able. If it hits, it deals weapon damage as normal plus an additional 2d6 points of damage.
In the first found I Claimed him as a swift action. I have a feat that makes all those claimed by me are also cursed as well. He also takes a -2 to Combat Maneuver check and skill checks but I don't think that will come up. The stance allows me to curse another but there is only one enemy. The other thing it does is add 1/4 my level (+1) to damage from all sources per damage die. I did 1d10+2d6 so +3 damage. This applies to all damage, allies and enemies alike, if I am reading it right.
The strike I used allows me to teleport up to 60 feet and attack someone. If they are cursed the attack does +2d6 damage.

Audria |

I know it's a little late for this fight, but you might want to consider doing block initiative. It helps the fights keep going along at a pretty good pace.

Marla May |

I am guessing Castle Blades is new to DMing PBP so an explanation is probably in order. Block init means putting all the enemies into one group for simplicity. What I think works best is averaging the enemies into one. Should any PC's go before, have them go. Then have the baddies go all at once. Then all the PC's go and we just go back and forth regardless of where the round actually changes. This way we can move things along one day per round rather than one day per person.
Also, rolling init for us, or mass perception checks or anything else where we are surprised.

Me'mori |

Painlord's Guide to PBP is one I refer to frequently, though the key with this is time, where months can pass before the group even sets out.

Marla May |

Forgot to respond. Aura of Shared Misery means +1 damage per damage die in the attack. My previous attack did 1d10+2d6 ergo +3 damage. So for Elenor's attacks, which are 1d6 each, the damage is +1 per attack.

Marla May |

Technically it is my turn but everyone should go or this will take forever.
@Eleanor: Might I offer a suggestion? In the Class/Levels section of your profile you can use spoilers. That means you can use a spoiler for base stats and one for fusion. And though each line has a character limit(not sure what it is) you can use the Gender section for more class stuff. Although, whatever you put in Class/Levels will appear after Gender so plan around that. I like use Gender for my main line of stats (Harbinger 5 | HP 53/53 | AC 19, Touch 12, FF 15 | CMB +4 | CMD 18 | Fort +8, Ref +5, Will +3 | Init +4 | Perception -1) and Class/Levels for daily class abilities like spells or bombs.

Eleanor Aurist |

isnt it Harb's turn? Anyways, to keep things rolling I'll post as I'm next.

Eleanor Aurist |

I've always wondered: can you get a flanking bonus while grappled?

Audria |

Yeah, the site sometimes has issues.
Do you use an android? From what I've heard, Wayfinder is really useful for helping with composing posts.

Audria |

Anyone heard from the GM? It looks like it's been about 10 days since he last posted.

Marla May |

Nope. Since you and Critzible helped make this I figured you guys would know best. How confident are you as a DM? Cause it looks like one of you will have to take over if this is to continue.

AdamWarnock |

Pretty confident when everyone's posting regularly. I don't have the best history I know, but I've gotten better in the past couple of years.
If I were to take over I'd want to start over. Would that be okay with all of you?
